The injury..!!

Seems to have taken up more space than i imagined it would. But, your generosity and concern for my health is so endearing and warm. Thank you for it. I repair. But very gradually. It keeps coming back and i keep drugging myself with pain killers.

The ‘Aladin’ set is the concern. We have to finish it by today. It is massive and we do not have permission to keep it up any longer, so i go on set and somehow try and finish my shot, lie down in my vanity van and come back on set when they are are ready for the next shot. Bit tedious for both my director and me, but at least work does not suffer.

The bigadda.com team came over. I educated myself more on blogging and its ‘finer qualities’. As per the advice of some of the fans and ‘co bloggers’ we got into the process of setting up a team to assist me in working my blog more efficiently.

While on the injury : Shashibhushan, asked a pertinent question. Is the injury to your body more painful or the pain of discrimination against you for belonging to a different state and whether there is an MRI to detect or an MRI against discrimination. Obviously, an intelligent link from my earlier Day 5-6 blog which had talked of my treatment.

Discrimination of any kind is not acceptable to me. Rich and poor. Caste and creed. Color and race. Male, female. Or any other permutation combination. I am ready to bear any physical pain but the pain of discrimination is unbearable. And for the moment, the harsh fact that i find myself incapable of finding any cure for it, is causing me even greater pain. I have no MRI to detect or cure this malaise. But cure we must.

Have we ever wondered how ‘discrimination’ has been the root cause for almost every ailment in society, in countries, in the entire world. Wars are fought because of different religious beliefs, society constructs different norms for different ‘kinds’ of people - just so disturbing. And look at the efforts made by so many eminent leaders and men of value to rid the earth of this ‘discrimination’.

I do not have a cure. But i have a belief. If even one of us every day can rid another one of us from this ailment, we can in time have a world which will represent an idealists dream.

It is a path that needs to be taken to walk on without any distraction.

My father’s ‘Madhushala’ contains an important reference to this -

Madhushala, is the House of Wine and all words and symbols connected to the House of Wine are not realistic symbols, they are metaphorical and, well, symbolic, for they talk on a higher plane -

” Madiralay jjaane ko ghar se, chalta hai peenay wala,

Kis path se jaaon asmanjas may hai woh bhola bhala.

Alag alag path batlate sab,

Par main yeh batlata hoon,

Raah pakad tu ek chala chal, pa jaaega Madhushala

The wanderer, the traveller sets out from his home to go to the Madhushala. Which path to take he is at a loss. Every one gives him different directions and different routes to take. But, the poet says, i tell him this - just catch one path and keep walking - you will find your Madhushala.

The Madhushala is symbolic here of a destination a desire a goal, anything. The world will always suggest different ways to get there to achieve it, all very confusing at times. But the poet says, just get on to one path and keep walking, keep persevering - you will find your destination.

I rush now to the studios. To reality. To my path. To strive, to pursue, to face obstacles and injury, to face discrimination from those that find me undesireable in their region, that badger me with complaints and controversy, that are critical of my creativity, my behavior, my attitude. That mistrust me in what i do, that challenge my integrity and the company that i keep and the words that i speak and write….

But… i must keep walking on my chosen path…

When the camera goes on and the director says ‘Action’ - there is no room for any other thought or feeling, it is but my body, my character, my voice and my expression. No one will and can intrude that space. It is my own selfish world, a world i chose to believe in and pursue. There is no discrimination here, or malice or anger or politics or bindings of society and its morals - its just the character i portray for the beautiful lens of the camera, to take me to the Madhushala i seek !!

And many among you who come onto my blog still debate, that i do not myself write on it.

Even this accusation will not prevent or stop me from pursuing my ‘path’

My love and regard and faith…

Amitabh Bachchan

    Mr Bachchan,

Wish you a speedy recovery from ur physical injury.. and wish this world is cured of the disease of discrimination….

Dicrimination in itself is not a derogatory word in the English, it is our laws/norms that have made them so…

Those are some really beautiful lines Mr Bachchan. i admit i have not read much of your father’s work. but these lines now inspire me to do so…

    Dear Amit ji,

First of all, many congratulations on now joining me and my fellow bloggers in this amazing world “the blogosphere.” Your tech savviness at this age is inspiring no less.

About discrimination, I get the meaning of what you are saying, and more so, what you are trying to say between the lines. Recent events of raking up issues which were and will always be irrelevant to a harmonious society, if not deterrent, is a sad and depressing affair.

A man is made up of what he does and how he lived his life. Whether people on the moon like it or not, is seemingly irrelevant. Your life leaves little to be questioned, and those who can find questions, have much left to learn.

Also its really great honor for we fans to get response from you directly (Let the debate continues if its you or somebody else on your behalf write it). I am sure whatever is written here by you is definately first proof read by you and then only published.
I want to ask a very simple question to you. Is Bachchan is brand name ? and Ash-Abhi’s marriage is business alliance (as its published in many articles)? Dont you think its too much hype around Bachchans. Don’t you think there is a way to restrict it. We want to see all your good work and not the hype around big surname.

    Dear Sir,

Though I’m not great fan of you but I’m certainly a person who has inspired from your life. I always believe your life is like a mathematical Sine curve, which has seen lots of up and down. Initially it started with 0(zero) then slowly it moved up and was at peak i.e. zanzeer. Then it moved down with I believe at the time your accident. But you recovered and slowly it started moving up and then it gone down with your political ambition. Then slowly it went up and then came last down curve that was ABCL. You again displayed courage to move up and to be at a place where you are today. I salute you for your courage and determination. You never give up and always try to move forward and give your best to come out of your odds. Thats really inspiring for a young person like me.

If through this blog if you can narrate certain of your inspiring incident then it will great advantage to your readers. I again congratulate and welcome of your gesture to come forward and be part of this new form of medium in this eWorld. I’m sure many other will follow you soooooooooooooooon.

yes you are very right. The descrimination of any kind is the root cause of many maladies in society. It not only hurt but also injures the society and makes it chronocally ill too.
….and what is the cause of “descriminations”?
when any human being starts believing that he/she is more powerful or better than “other”then this mindset seeds descriminations.
we as humans must accept this fact that both our biological as well a psychological needs are almost similar and this acceptance across various societies will definitely help to abolish descriminations.

I am sure you have been told several times how you are an inspiration to all. Let me tell you that my father who is almost the same age as you are, gets a lot of inspiration from you…especially the amount of work and effort you put in. He has also not stopped working since his retirement from PSU ans frequently quotes you, saying ..” If Amitabh can work so hard and can better his performance of young at my age, why cant I work and give my best performance too. ” Uff, this is so amazing, isnt it.

Sir, I really hope that someday you write a good book. may be narrate it to someone, who writes it. You are as young as this country is …and youngsters look upto you more as a youth icon than an celebrity. We need ot hear wisdom from you, in a book on this blog, on particularly…Change and Challenges. How have you managed to change yourself and how you overcam challenges.

    Dear Amitji/Sir,
Good Morning and nice to hear from you again. I really really hope you get to feel better soon as you have millions and millions of people waiting for you and who gets motivated by you. I for one really do.

I just want to share something with you and this i have told few very close ppl in my life……..one of them was my real brother whom i lost 2 years back and he too beleived in what i beleive…….and that belief came from an old article from you. There after we followed 3 principles…..which came from you, your family and your experiences.

    1. Jab tak jeevan hai, tab tak sangharsh hai.
    2. Jo beet gayi so baat gayi……….jeevan me ek sitaara tha, mana woh behad pyaara tha,woh doob gaya toh doob gaya, ambar ke aanan ko dekho, kitne iske taare tute, kitne uske pyaare chute,jo chut gaye phir kaha mile, par bolo tute taaro par, kab ambar shok manata hai…….jo beet gayi so baat gayi.
and 3rd the most important is:-
    3. Gar Mann ka ho toh achcha……aur agar na ho toh AUR BHI ACHCHA:)

All the above if thought deeply gives a totally different kind of strength and the best is the 3rd one…..that is so special. Whenever there have been terrible times in life the 3rd mantra has worked for me to move on and fight. In my own way for me and my family i have been a success and i am striving for more but with right mantras:)

Anyway, sorry for this but really its special and my only thought when i 1st read them all was if all this can change a life of Mr.Amitabh Bachchan…….then who am i in front of him. For me these were your success mantras and for the last few years they are mine too.

Having said that in my yesterday message i was curious about 1 question and that was…….”one of my old Table-Tennis friend Sameer Bhate had told us that you used to play TT when you had taken a break few years back. Is it true??”

The reason i am asking this is i myself was a International Table-Tennis player and was ranked #5 in our country and have represented our country in the US and Sweden for international tournaments. I know you did play a exhibition match for Vilas Menon and your doubles partner was one of our champion and a friend Chetan Baboor. (I was back to studies that time) I am also a recepient of the Chattrapati Award given to the best sportmen for the year. I am proud of being a TT player and the fact that you too have played this game for few months in your break has given more joy and proud feeling for the game i played:)……but is it true?? Now however i am in to I.T and the world of computers fascinates me but not as much as teaching Table-Tennis to new talents on weekends in Pune.

Also, i am sorry if you have misunderstood me, when i said i dont beleive its you writing to us……it was only and only a pleasant pleasant surprise……you know normally in life we always doubt the positive:)……..Sorry anyway.

I hope to hear from you soon and as always wish you and your family all the success and happiness in life.

    Love Always,
    Rajesh.

First and foremost, I’m glad that the team at bigadda.com will be further assisting you in creating a more efficient and smooth blogging experience for you, the end-result eventually will trickle down to your loyal readers =)

Discrimination is an unsolvable crime against humanity that will always remain. It is a seed which has been planted in all of history, and no matter how subdued it may seem at times, it will always linger. But you’re right, we must take it upon ourselves to help those in need.

Sir, the pathways to my Madhushala are so blurred that I constantly question the reality of my goals. Forgive me, but this leads me to leave the same response as I’ve left in your prior posts, and I will continue doing so… aakashgandhi@hotmail.com. God Bless

    Request:
Thank you for reaching out to your supporters. It shows a level of sincerity that is lacking in many who have reached similar heights. But I want to take this once in a lifetime opportunity to reach out to you and your family…

Born and raised in the States, I want to follow my dreams to come to India and pursue my truest of goals - Music. Although there is not much on the internet about it, someone had mentioned to me that Jaya Aunty devotes some of her time to helping people who are physically disadvantaged. I won’t disclose specifics here, but I too am plagued with a physical ailment that prevents me from truly expressing myself.

If there is any way I can get in touch with her, to speak to her about my situation and the practicality of following my dreams in India, I would be deeply honored and indebted. If i’ve been misinformed, then please accept my apologies for wasting your time.

Whether or not my dreams are possible, I want to thank individuals like you for the flame of inspiration.

    Keep Rocking!

I just wanted to say Thank you. The way you rebounded from the ABCL debacle, it inspired me and gave me the strength to fight through a similar phase in my life 4 years back. While my problem was not at the same scale as yours, but in terms of relativity, I was at rock bottom. But your real life story inspired me in real life and I want to say Congratulations and Thank you. And I wish you good health. Sir,

How big a fan I am of yours, I’ll let you know in my next e-mail, but this piece of blog by you is so very inspiring. It makes my conscious very clear. Another poem written by your father that comes to my mind at this point (regarding discrimination) is…

    Agnipath agnipath agnipath
Vriksh ho bhale ghane, ho ghane, ho bhade
Ek path ki chaav maang math maang math maang math
    Agnipath agnipath agnipath

Tu na thakega kabhi, tu na thamega kabhi, tu na mudega kabhi,
Kar shapad, kar shapad, kar shapad,
    Agnipath agnipath, agnipath

Ye mahaan drishya hai, chal raha manushya hai,
Ashru shwet raqt se lathpath, lathpath, lathpath,
    Agneepath agneepath agneepath

If there are any spelling/grammatical mistakes, please pardon me. I learnt Hindi my watching Hindi movies, especially your movies. But this is one of the poems that I try and recollect when I am in dilemma.

    Dear Mr.Bachchan,

I now feel my initial doubts about you, not personally writing on this blog was childish. You do read each and every entry in the blog!

Madhushala is a very philosophical poem and you have quoted it very well today. One good thing about this blog is that we will get to hear more on your father’s work. One very personal question, if you are not offended, what gives you more pleasure, talking about your father or your children? and why?

May God bless you and do take very good care of yourself. I think our coversations may take a philosophical turn some day.

Pain is directly proportional to the impact. Mental impact lingers on well after body impact has gone.
The biggest travesty lies in the fact that no party / person has the guts to take it on the face in Maharashtra instead they do a SWOT analysis of the situation to use it to the best of there advantage.
These days it rancours in my mind that will we stay the same in 2030A.D. because I’ve not seen any change in the mentality of these people (ironically they matter) over the past 3 decades.
It pains to see a young politician trying to make a mark for himself by taking a short cut to fame with these kind of antics which were not even relevant in India of 1930s.

    Dear Amit ji,

“And many among you who come onto my blog still debate, that i do not myself write on it.”

I guess you are too big a persona for far too many Indians to believe that you can be a simple human being just like them.

Anyone who has read your blog since Day 1 must KNOW (just needs to look within his/her self to know) that it is you yourself writing.

That’s because the writing is human, one that is sharing joys and sorrows, frustration, as well as determination and aspirations - for a world without discrimination.

In the process of accusing, they only make you more human - which is wonderful. The more attempts on you to pull you down - the more the level of support you get from all all quarters (like the fans and bloggers here). I guess human being in general, and Indians in particular, like to support the wronged person (as evidenced by the scripts of some of the characters you’ve portrayed in your movies, which went on to become major hits). Thus, the process of pulling you down actually elevates you…and the criticisms help keep your humility intact.

The one discriminating is also the one discriminated against. Thus, the accusers and discriminators require your forgiveness as well (without ever letting go of your continuous resolve to fight it).

Go for it Amitji! Fight it out with forgiveness!

in this post u write about madhushala!what a poem!i have a copy of madhushala(eng translation) in my pc! ans since my favorite iranian poet is hafiz i like symbolic poems like hafiz poems and madhushala!

For a long time my Beloved no message sent
Didn’t write a greeting, and no word sent
I sent a hundred letters, yet that mounted King
Dispatched no messages, no greeting sent.
Towards the wild and mind-ridden me
No tame deer and no fine grouse sent
Knew that I, my hearts bind, would fly away
Yet from his vast stores, no trap sent.
Alas that sweet & joyful cup bearer
Knew that I was drunk, yet no cup sent.
Often I faked my standing in life
No news of a place for me was sent.
Hafiz be polite, there is no questioning
If the King no message to his subjects sent.

    with the best wishes!

    Respected Sir,
Good Morning. How are you feeling today?Must be better than yesterday.
The first stanza of Madhushala realy tells us that when we will select only one path and move forward on it we will reach our goal or our distination.and the next stanza tells us that we are about to reach our destination

Sun kal kal chhal chhal panghat se girti pyalon me hala
Sun chal vitran karti madhu sha ki hala
    Bus aa pahunche door nahi
Kuchh chaar kadam ab chalna hai
    Chahak rahe sun peene wale
    Mahak rahi meri madhushala

Am I right Sir.May be any one has read Madhushala or heard on audio but I have loved it and learned it and use to sing it whenever I feel lonely not in the same voice of respected Manna Dey ji but the tune remains same.

Mai Shiv ki pratima ban baithoon
    Mandir ho ye Madhushala

I realy love these lines.I dont know why I love Madhushala so much.Though rest of the poems have no comparison. As KYA BHOOLON KYA YAAD KAROON
See this was also too good but Madhushala is something different I am just crazy about it as people are crazy about you.Dont know why.
Any ways you just get well soon coz this girl fan of your father wants to talk to you and is in this hope that one day I will sing Madhushala in front of you.
Aur wo di meri zindzgi ka sabse khoobsurat din hoga jab aap mujhe reply denge.Aap ke hath se unki Madhushala chahiye.Aap mujhe denge na?

    Hi Mr. Bachchan,

I have just read your blog.I would like your comment/suggestion on your father’s ‘Madhushala’ . Isn’t there a dichotomy in saying this that a person should select his own path and continue moving on it. Doesn’t that make a person insensitive to others or make him inflexible.Who will decide on what is right or wrong at the beginning? It will be clear towards the end when a significant portion of one’s life is gone by without any significant output.

At this juncture when we are all talking of discrimination in the society on the basis of caste, creed, birth place etc. we have to strive for more tolerance of each other’s views and sensibilities before embarking on one’s own ego trip. I really appreciated your response earlier to MNS propaganda against you that this is a free country and nobody needs a visa to enter any part of the country.

    Dear Amitji,

First of all, I sincerely hope you recover from your injury & get back to doing your best i.e acting & entertaining millions of fans like me.

Its been a privelege for me to write to you, I’ve dreamt of it ever since I was in school i.e 20 yrs back. My entire family mom, dad , sis, al relatives included have been following your growth in this industry for last 35 yrs. So I’ve been bought up in a family where you’ve been a part of conversations for last 3 decades at least. We’ve marvelled at your performances, loved/adored you on TV when you did KBC , celebrated when you won awards & sometimes wondered why you did movies like BOOM & AAG at all. I’ve always hero worshipped you & truly you are my idol. The way you fought back & re-gained your superstar status at turn of the millenium is in itself an inspiration for many of us.

I hope we fans can communicate with you & understand what it takes to fight against all odds & make it to the top on your own.

Wish you all the very best in your new venture.

    Best Regards,

    Samuel

    Dear Amitabhji,

Hope you are recovering really fast from your recent injuries (physical or otherwise). As you rightly said, Life is an endless challenge and we just have to be determined to walk the path though easier said then done. But I firmly believe constructive use of technology helps us to deal with every challenge more effectively and with much ease. It is just like one more path … worth walking to reach our goals.

Enough dose of philosophy for first time… !! :D

One sincere request. My wife is a die hard fan of yours (She is not yet aware that you have started a blog). It will be a wonderful surprise to her if you could arrange to send a greeting with your autograph on our wedding anniversary which is on 14th May (First after my angel daughter was born). That will make her day really special.. Of Course i have planned a surprise party for her as well..!

Please let me have your confirmation on my e-mail id so that i can mail you my postal address. (I dont think it is a good idea to put my postal address on the blog).

    Just another fan..

    Mr. Bachchan,
Get well soon! I hope you feel better. Those lines were just amazing! Thats what my dad always says..My dad and you have A LOT in common by the way. The way you guys talk, laugh, always have quotes or sayings for different things, scold people! Its just scary..well, I dont know you personally but Im talking about the ‘actor’ Amitabh Bachchan. Especially in Kabhi Khushi Kabhi Gham..how you’re always doing something on your phone and doing what you feel is right and..just everything! I was just shocked when I saw you in that movie..Its my favorite movie by the way! Ive seen in about 40 times! Im not even kidding..I know like ALL the lines to the movie..I can start right now if you want me too haha
Anyway, Im gonna go now. I hope you recover from your injury and be careful! Take care and good night :]

    Pranam Amitji,

I wish you a very speedy recovery. My dad always tells he has started feeling very old. He is 60. I tell him look at amitabh bachchan, even at this age he is full of energy. He debates saying that he has nothing to worry about as you have money and fame and both your children are settled in life. He has no worries. Unlike you my dad still worries about how he will spend years post his retirement. I try to encourage him to start his own business using his immense experience in his field. Any word of encouragement for him, from you, would be a great gesture.

Wishing you an extremely good health,

    your BIG FAN!

    Hi Amit Ji,
I observe that in most cases you react just like my Father does and I sincerely feel it as an reaction more than necessary. I understand that comments made by few colleagues or comments written in the media could be hurting you in your personal life but the real caliber is in those who never cares about those and keeps going ahead. When I say “who never cares” I mean that you should not leave a response or let the media know your reaction, it needs to be kept in your subtle mind and the time will resolve it, but penting it out will bring in more comments and unrest. I suggest you can discuss this with your younger family members who have a more insider understanding of this modern and ever changing world (i feel that there is nothing wrong in knowing from others on things we do not know) and knowing from it from your own family members will be much better in understanding how to evade those comments and live in this stupid, modern, ever changing and provoking world.

    luv

    Amit Sir,
good to see you in action. your punctuality is famous.
i know, i believe that in your posts these are your own words. you must be having print outs of comments to read. your technical team will be typing for you. there are two ways..
    1) you dictate the posts
    2) you write with pen on paper and your computer assisstent types the matter

my belief goes with second option because languae you are using and the feelings, emotions expressed there are personal and its possible only when one writes in solitude.
like you said once director says action, you forget rest of the world and two things remain there- you and your performance and so many times, i believe, there might have left only the character you play.

it also is obvious from your posts that your inner being has this desire to express. perhaps now is the time when your babu ji’s blessings have taken a definte form inside you. his contribution in making you for all these years has taken an independent existence now.

writing is giving you personal freedom. an area to explore far and wide, deep and higher.
may be i am reading too much or predicting but soon you will be in a position/situation where even if you dont work in many films because now all eoles wil not appeal to you, you will be continuing writing.
now you have no escape now.
a literary father has passed on heritage to his elder son. you have to follow tradition, ofcourse with new outlook.
by writing you will be working towards reducing pitrina-the fathers debt on you.
writing is/should be your tribute to your father dr bachchan.
you can get inner piece only by writing.
rest all wordly affairs, relationships, diffrences etc nothing matter while you go to sleep or wake up or become happy in your solitude or when utter sadness siege you.
    good luck sir

many in world love you and its selfless love.

enjoy your existence. bear your pain. go on your work as you have love and prayers of many with you.
come out of bondage to realise that new man, that was ideal man in the writings of your father.
    regards

    amitji,

What a beautiful way to put your felings across by comparison with that poem.
I find it difficult to handle the trials and misunderstanding that i face in life ,i find it hard to handle them eventough they are pretty trivial.but you have really set an example to many of us with your patience, morality.

I guess you just need to continue to blog for people like me who believe honest words rather than just doubt about the credibility when it comes to blogging.beind sceptical about who is actually writing here just goes to show immaturity on the readers side.I hope you will continue your sincere effort on blogging. It is great platform for your fans to know you better.

I see a lot of sincerety in this . Also it is great that you have team now to handle your blog.

    Mr. Bachchan,

I quite like what you referred to in your blog today - perhaps one of the most inspiring piece “Raah pagad tu ek chala chal paa gaaye Madhushaala” - these words are so inspiring and optimistic - for a weary traveller who at times stalls to wonder whether what he is believing in, is worth the effort.
I have spent some 13 years in my profession - which is as a writer in Advertising and Marketing. Today, as a Creative Director, I look back and wonder - how far is the Madhushaala - and like the nation has expectations of you as an actor, I too have to live up to many of them. Living up to these expectations is in itself a strain - how do you cope with it????

    Waiting for a response…

Anyhow I was listing to a TV interview of urs in which u have stated that u don’t want to write an autobiography. I also agree with U. There r many episodes in one’s life that one cannot bare them all. As it involves many others, it is wise to keep them in wraps.
