Mehboob Studio, Mumbai, April 24, 2008 12:39 pm
There has been hectic activity after my ‘Aladin’ shoot everyday, towards the promotion of ‘BhoothNath’.
Some electronic and some print. I have posted some of them on ‘23/4′.
There is consternation by some as to the need to publish these, since they have appeared in print and need not occupy this space. Valid reason. But.. i had said on my earlier posts that this is the very reason i put it up - it is for you to read and make out what was given and what was printed. Most of them have been true to the copy, but sometimes if the reference to the question is missing, the entire context of the written word reads differently. Hence this.
It is relevant also for another matter. The Deputy Editor, Shaheen Parkar, of Mid Day dated April 24, 2008 writes in the column under ‘HitList’, why i am taking the trouble of answering every little matter that is thrown up by the media !! Many others on the blog and elsewhere aver why i must dignify these comments by responding to them.
In the mid 80’s during the vociferous media attack on my family and me on Bofors, i maintained a ‘dignified’ silence. But dignity was not what the media or the people were appreciating. They insisted on a response. During that time the Times of India published a wonderful coffee table book on 150 years of the front pages of the paper. It was wonderful and exiting and educative to read what news and facts were, even before i was born. But it also contained a front page from the 1980’s, which proclaimed - ‘Amitabh Bachchan - a traitor to the nation !’ an obvious reference to the controversy of the gun deal.
It was then that i decided to fight this allegation to clear my name, so that when TOI prints its next coffee table book of front page headlines for the next 150 years, there will be a page which shall perforce have to say that i was innocent. I will not be there to read it, but my great grand children should never have to live in the shame that their great grand father was a crook !!. The result of this exercise is now known to all - i fought the Bofors allegation in 4 different countries - London, Switzerland, Sweden and USA, and WON !! Single handedly i had dared to take on a Prime Minister and a Government and came out victorious.
If i will fight for one cause i will fight for every cause if it challenges the integrity of my family and me. I may not come out victorious all the time, but i shall have the satisfaction of having fought.
In the boxing ring in school in Sherwood College, Nainital because of my excessive height i was placed in a weight much beyond my body strength and when i was to fight a much stronger physical adversary, the teachers subtly advised me to withdraw and give a walk over or be prepared for serious damage. I did not relent and fought and lost, as was expected, but they gave me the award for the ‘pluckiest loser’ - an award given to a contestant who despite the adversity, almost won !
During the entire wedding of Abhi-Ash there were heavy allegations. Past interviews and letters posted will indicate to you their content. During a meeting in the conference room of a large and prominent newspaper many months after the event, when i had gone there to clarify the accusations and seek an explanation for their continued appearance in the press, their constant refrain was ‘we continued to write those accusations because there were no clarifications from you’.
Shaheen Parkar from Mid Day says ‘why ?’. Another ally of hers says ‘why didn’t you ?’.
Perhaps they are best suited to deal with this dichotomy !!

Amitji,
I cant believe I am writing to you. I always tell my wife that if God gives me a chance, there are two people who I would like to meet before I die. You and Sachin Tendulkar. Regardless of the talent, courage, stamina, experience, brilliance and aura, I think there is just one thing that separate you both from the rest. And that thing is HUMILITY!!! And this very aspect makes you both one of the greatest men that our country as seen.
My first memory of your film was watching Satte pe Satta. I must be 5-6 then and everyday after school come home and put talcum powder on my hair so that I can see myself as Ravi and Babu ( Ok I am kind of embarrassed by it now
) .
Regardless of what people ( Read certain Mr. Anurag Basu. Seriously taking you on has become a fashion these days) or even people close to you might say, I think it is just up to you to decide when is the right time to stop working.
Millions of people like me pray for you and will always support everything you do. I hope this reaches you.
Kind regards,
Kaushik

Dear Mr.Bachchan !
It seems just like yesterday when I first saw you when shooting for Amar Akbar Anthony at the church in our school Don Bosco , Matunga……you were so aloof and pensive in thoughts sitting on your chair in between shots….I was in class V then. In the recent past since I work in the diamond industry witnessed your presence at IGI function awarding you the Diamond of the Century and our company DTC’s FOREVERMARK launch both at Taj Lands End.
Amazing to see your zest for all that you do and continue to achieve………you our and will always remain our true role model

I have always been a great fan of yours and been watching your movies of all 25 years of my life. I really appreciate you of using this blog as the medium to finally give your view point on the things which the media can not modify or edit to make it sensational. I agree with your todays post that when you were silent the media went out all guns loaded after each and every issue related to you. now i think atleast people like me will know the truth behind the matters related to you. thanks a lot for all the entertianment you have give us all these years. the media is still gonna continue to use your name in a good way sometimes and in controversial way almost all the time to sell there channel, but most of your fans know who you are and we are always with you

Sir ,
as i read on . . there is a part of me tempted to know more from you . . ever person who is as famous or even half as famous as you are . . is constantly in public glare . . and the print media or electronic media would want to make news by coming up with something or the other related to you . .
keeping all this in mind . . i still believe the ABHI-ASH wedding scenario could have been handled in a much better way than it was . . i mean the impression the general public got from it was not the AMITABH BACHCHAN we know from the movies . . our favourite star . . all time . .
this might be the most irrelevant post by any user . . but this is something i always wanted to ask you as a fan . . the pluckiest loser is actually an indication as to how strong you are mentally . .

Dear Amithji,
Hat’s off to you.You need to clarify in this world for every allegation put nor else people would think otherwise. They may think that you are an escapist. So reacting to what is written about on you or your family shouldn’t be tolerated. You need to act accordingly.Three cheers for your guts. Hat’s off to you again.
Get well soon.May god stay always with you and your family.

Sir -
This is what is called ‘Shekchilli’ and you would recogonise this word. People want you to clarify but NOT everything. By clarifying every small thing which is coming in print about you, you are losing your dignity and coming across as blind man flighting in all directions aimlessly.
Why dont you relax and let life do whatever it wants to do? When to talk and when not to talk is about maturity and you seem to be getting petty with age.
There was a time when you were silent and now you are talking too much. There has to be some balance in life!

I think it is good to defend what you know is right. Unfortunately, many times is construed by the media as an acceptance of the allegations. You are not dignifying any comments by responding to them, but defending personal attacks. I hope you keep up the fight to keep you name clean. On a side note…. I have had the Jhoom Barabar Jhoom title song stuck in my head for the last week, do you know of anyway to make it stop?

Hello Sir
Plz read it atleast once.
I’m also from Allahabad.I have a high regard for you in my heart.I really admire your character strength.Sir I’m not praising you without reason.I really like the person who have the high degree of character.
In todays world where it is not easy to find the huminity, you really present an example. I know you are an emotional person but also know to control the emotions beecoz of your faith in “Spritualism†and “Character Strengthâ€. I also feel spritualism in my soul, body, heart and actually in my whole existence. It is not easy to live an emotional and simple person with respect in this world.Spritualism is the only way or solution for this problem.
There was a burden on my heart to share my feelings about you. I was present in the “railly†when you addressed at KP Inter college, alld , in the year of 2001.Sir plz reply if you have time from your busy schedule.
I pray to God for your long life. You are the real kayastha. Allahabadi kuch different hote hi hain, sab ganga maiya ki kripa hai.
One thing more “I like the Abhishek Bachchan’s dashing personality and acting alsoâ€.

Dear Amitji,
The answer to the dichotomy you mention lies in the worth of the allegations. While silence is golden when dogs bark, one needs to clarify issues when a completely distorted image is produced and has the potential to get further muddled. So while we would appreciate clarifications on serious allegations of money etc levelled at you, I seriously feel you should have left trivial comments from Shatrughan Sinha and the mad ravings of Raj Thackeray alone. It is not a nice sight to see these TV channels broadcasting specials on these superficial things. Don’t belittle yourself by stooping to their level.
This blog is an expression of your voice. But don’t turn it into a page where you sound like a martyr. Speak about how you rose from your worst moments and how you live life on your terms. Write about things which will inspire us to stand up for our conscience.
With deepest regards,
Anshu

I would like to put a question to you.
What do you think on the fact that it is the human being which effects the enviroment and not the other way around? Like, if you are sad then the whole world is gloomy for you and if you are happy you can take on any challenge.

I must admit I always refrained from rooting for you in your heydays because I had (and still do I guess) a penchant for promoting the underdog. So when all and sundry were screaming out your name aloud, I favoured vinod khanna and dharmendra and shashi kapoor.
I admired you for the first time in black.
I have also taught your daughter French and I must say you have made a good job of bringing her up. She is very cultured and intelligent and it was a pleasure to teach her though it was for a very short while and a very long time back when she was expecting her first child.
I have also taught natasha for a very long time.
Today I have started admiring you and your work. During those days when I was against you I was all for Jaya who was my great favourite and loved both of you in Mili and in any film out of the commercial circuit that you acted in.

hi;
very happy to know about yr blog; it ws high time u did something to shut down the barking dogs of the film industry;media & political arena; just today i read a statement byâ€mr.anurag basuâ€;that says that â€mr.amitabh bachchan should just retire†now more than th feelings of anger and hurt i laughed loudly at this man;s audacity, that what he should be telling the likes of mr. dev anand,,mr.dharamendra and family, mr.vinod khanna and family etc. etc. he can shamelessly copy an entire ‘hollywood†movie bt dosnt bother to look at all the hollywood greats like;robert d nero; dustin hoffman; sean connery who though past their prime & not at all looking like their best or getting the same kind of powerfull central roles which they got in their landmark movies back in 80;s still continue to act ;just like you for you guys were born to act till the time you can just like the late actiing legends ;Ashok kumar & Marlon brando who acted till they breathed .nobody could point fingers at them. Sir, somehow i get the feeling that this hole hate wave has been precipitated post the Abhi-Ash marriage;every two bit actor; stand up comic or wannabe journos have made fun on your expense; The respect & awe which you rightfully deserved and got from the film fraternity somehow now looks forced and deliberate . I.sometimes wonder at the sheer ignorance of some of these so called T.V.channel critics and F.M. channel critics who dont even know the A.B.C. of your long history of films from 1970;s onwards; that what rights they have to comment below the belt remarks on you .To remind all of these guys of the time back in 80;s that at one point of time all the screens in delhi were showing your one or the other movie either in repeat run or running in Silver or Golden jublilee weeks or new release. I, dare any of the so called & entirely media made â€KING KHANS & KUMARS †etc.-etc.;to make even one film of theirs run like that [ of course D.D.L.J. is an exception to the rule ] . So; in your efforts to silence your critics and people who do not deserve a mention; i;& millions of your fans are with you. hope you get to read this as i was just watching your interview on T.V. &you were saying that you may not be able to go through each and every blog. Sir,
I empathise with you. But it is a fact that a public personality is always under scrutiny. On the other hand , you and anybody associated with you have been scrutinised far too closely , which is really unfortunate.
Media , most of the times acts arrogantly. Perhaps that is their way of staying in the lime light, so to say!!!.
Your greatest plus point or should I say the minus point, is your Towering Personality which irks , particularly to the Media. Hence this extra attention to you!!!
Please dont bother. Swish them aside. ( With your trade mark left swipe ! )
Warm Regards.

Shatrughan Sinha hinted that IIFA awards were being given to everyone in your family and had no credibility. You have hit back saying that his wife Poonam Sinha recommended the name of McMohan for the National award jury and in the same year, Raveena Tandon, McMohan’s niece got a national award. There really is no comparison between these two scenarios. Poonam Sinha recommended McMohan and unfortunately he turned out to be biased. There is no reason to find fault with her. She was not on the jury nor did she vote for Raveena. On the other hand IIFA awards have been started by you. You are the brand ambassador. Even in case of small contests by companies where they give a prize, they announce that the contest is not open to employees of the newspaper or their family. Here the awards have been started by you and ethically your entirely immediate family should have been *excluded* from the awards. Not only has this not been done, but they have in fact been given awards year after year. I know this comment will not be published but I want you to know that I consider this very unethical. Even in UP you have got Abhishek the same award which was given to your father, the great poet Harivanshrai Bachchan. Giving the same award to someone like Abhishek is in fact insulting your father but as a father you don’t seem to have objectivity and won’t realise it.

Yes if he is trying to give some inputs creatively why should any director feel bad. This is a creative world and everyone has their imaginations. If a creative input is given by Aamir or Hrithik or Saif or Shahrukh or Salmankhan all these directors take it nicely and when it is given by someone like Abhishek why they act that way.Why are these double standards prevailing in this industry.I don’t know if i am wrong on this entire issue. But i read in some website where Rakesh mehra started giving cold shoulder to Abhishek.I felt very bad about the whole issue.I just wanted to confirm whether that is for real.Since i am big fan of Abhishek i got offended. Please do clarify this.

Hello Amitji ,
I was confused how to address you.
You made me feel grown up when I used to be around 4 yrs and used to sing songs from ur movies, used to do everything that Amitabh Bachchan(you were not the Big B then) did in his movies.
Today I am 33 and for me, you have not changed a bit. You are still my favorite hero. However, now I am fond of Abhishek as well and he gets more attention at times.
For me, you have been more than the Legend always. It really feels nice when I see you leading a dignified life despite of most of them trying to pull you down. Be it the Congress or the MNS or your fellow actors like Shatrughan Sinha or the few so called Kings of the KHAN clan in the industry, you have been able to be fine with your position and its really nice. We are thankful to God for making you such a strong person.
I have always felt that people from SP are not the right ones for you but then I am happy that they stand by you when others act funny to a Legend like you. I just hope and pray that your trust and faith on your friends remain intact for ever and ever and they don’t end up breaking it anyday…Amen…!!!!
I have seen your responses to Mr.Sinha and am really proud of every bit that you have mentioned in your responses. Failure in life such as Mr.Sinha doesn’t have right to even talk about Legends like you.
I also read the bit that Mr.Anurag Basu has stated in his interview to Stardust. Seems he is riding high on his associations with Bhatts and Roshans and hence is not aware as to what crap is he talking about. But I guess this is the way the so called new gen BOLLYWOOD works, where in you have the self confessed KINGS. A couple of success changes the mindset of everyone around and its really disgusting. Anyway, let us leave them with their mind-set and thoughts for now.
I seriously hope and pray that when I am of your age, I am as energetic as you are today and above that even more good human being that you have been all the while.
Please do take care of yours and your health. And we hope to see you in many more movies in the years to come.
I shall try taking some time out daily to read ur blogs coz its really nice to read or hear you.
God bless you always.
Best Regards and Prayers for your well being always.

Sir,
With your blog, there’s one more accusation by media on you that you have certainly rubbished. Thats of being a diplomatic.
I felt, and assume others felt the same, that you are also one among us. Someone who feels vindicated after speaking his heart out. And raising voice against what he didn’t like.
I used to wait endlessly for your glimpse on several occasions outside your house, then sometimes outside the studio that i would know you were shooting in. My friends called me a “crazy over a superstar” guy. And i felt they were right at times. But, now, whether i manage to get your glimpse or not, i know for sure that i adore not a superstar but an icon. And thats a vindication for me.

btw a curious question: do you recall any Baba you met/kept in touch then? Coz a Baba in Nainital says he took care of you or something like that .. he paints sketchy details and is a very nice person, if not being beyond a mortal like you and me hehe

Dear Amit Bachchan,
Legend, Hero and Trail Blazer
Sixty midnights since that epochal freedom at midnight, you could well have been basking in the delights of anonymity. You could have chosen to remain a business executive, forever wearing that cloak of anonymity. But you let that slip from your shoulders, preferring instead to talk the talk on screens that got bigger with your every appearance, and walk the walk on the roads less travelled.
And that has made all the difference. To all of us.
Just look what you’ve given to the world to witness, a giant wave of magnificent, shimmering entertainment, rising from the bosom of the ocean of creativity (something like what you yourself mentioned during your riveting speech in Baghban). You call yourself a mere actor who’s just lent his voice to the dialogues. But then you’re not a mere man. For Sir, if you were a mere actor, as you claim, I would not have had the courage to write to you. If you had been a mere actor, you wouldn’t have made infinite men and women live through a smorgasbord of emotions that you’ve provided on screen for 40 beautiful years, some with Less Sugar, and others with Flames. Had you been a mere actor, you would not have walked through so many midnights, and like the introduction to your blog says, ruled Indian cinema way beyond your time. If you were a mere actor, you’d have turned back from the cut-throat world of Hindi cinema when in your early days hits were difficult to come by. If Columbus had turned back, no one would have blamed him, but no one would have known him either. Amitabh Bachchan, you could have basked in the delights of anonymity, but you knew in your wisdom that a ship in a harbour is safe, but that is not what a ship was really meant for. The world, including a drop in the ocean like me, would have missed your awesome, breathtaking giant waves of creativity of which I have seen so much, and still crave to see more.
In my own humble way, I did try and take the road less travelled in 2004, giving up a eight year old job as an investigative journalist with INDIA TODAY and another six with INDIAN EXPRESS, to start a monthly magazine. It is called INDIA EMPIRE, connects Indian diaspora with India. On the cover of our inaugural edition, there were two figures, one of them, Sir, was you. The article was written by someone who knows you well, Dinesh Raheja. Copies were sent to you with a covering note. Like a few unobtrusive journalists, I did not chase you to find out if you ever received that edition of ours. I did not let my eagerness to somehow connect with you get the better of my deep admiration for you, not just as an actor, but a very proud Indian, equally at ease in his Karambhoomi, and his Janambhoomi. So I let my silence prevail, and never inquired. But, however, if through this blog, I were to receive a reply, it’d make me feel very special. I wouldn’t be writing this letter to an ordinary soul, and by now you realize that in my eyes, you aren’t one.

Hello Amitji,
I am big fan of yours (though this may sound cliche’ to you). Like you, we are also wondering why the media is always stalking you and your family irrespective of your friendly attitude towards them (I wonder how you manage that). But don’t allow these silly media frenzy affect your day to day affairs and health, as fans we certainly know what you are and what you are upto. Sir did you ever think that ‘why me not others’. In India there is no scarcity for the so called ‘celebrities’ like the Cabinet ministers, the other superstars but nobody is interested what they are doing, but if something happens in the Bachchan household that suddenly becomes the Breaking News in the “Refreshingly Different ” Channels. Though you have a right to clarify your position you owe no explanation to them. So Amitji, please take care of your health and enjoy the most wonderful phase of your life. You are a national treasure so you have a duty to take good care of that.
with lots of love n’ respect

Dear Mr Bachchan
we all know that the media hounds the bad side of things to gain publicity .So we are all human and god creation so we are human and we humans knows between right and wrong .You life as an actor must be respected and life as husband and father must as well be respected too.
Remeber the line i quote you in my posted yesterday -Meera Pas Ma Hai
You have out done many actors even some of the younger ones of today .
even doing it still but there can only be one Amitabh Bachchan
Rumours of this director Basu saying you must retired .it so common they were misquoted .This line i dont buy .I think he must retired before he even starts digging graves for him.
How can he see what goes on in one life .Can he think that human being that lost everthng a few years ago he buikding himself up again and became more stronger .
I hate the bad things wriiten about you .Speak the good things about a human .If you where so bad why are directors asking you in every movie.why are roles given to you as preference .
Amitabh Bachchan is one man with strong persona and god bless him long live very long to come .

Dear Sir,
your explanation on why you feel the need to counter all those media allegations is much appreciated. Of course one must fight for one’s rights and reputation, at the risk of losing (but being awarded the “pluckiest loser” - loved this anecdote!).
But isn’t there a big difference between being wrongly accused as a ‘traitor’ and the uncountable digs and pinpricks of the media or people like Shatrughan Sinha, which you fell the need to counter, too?
Sir, I’m sorry if this sounds impertinent, but in some of your posts you remind me a lot of my late father (maybe this is the unconscious reason why I keep writing comments to your blog). He, too, was a proud and upright personality, and someone who always fought for his rights. But like a Don Quixote, he sometimes lost perspective at the size and nature of his enemies. Bristling easily and being hard to please, he did not have a very happy life, and almost ten years after his death I’m still saddened because of this.
All I want to say is: Yes, fight where it’s worth the fight, and be assured you’ll have countless of allies all over the world.
But please let it be, if it’s just another moronic article by some lurid tabloid. Your time and energy might better be applied to more enjoyable activities. And your children (and grandchildren) will be glad to know that you are not only faithful and plucky, but contented and happy.
Warm regards,
Elisabeth

I dont know whats going on between you and Shatru ji.But i feel that you guys are thorough professional and u can handle it better than any body else for sure.Am a village guy and remember a phrase that is very much used there ” Hathi chale Bajar Kutta bhonke Hajar” .The whole media business is based on selling celebrity news , whether its truth or not. Dear Mr. Bachhan,
It was really heartening to read your response as to why you did not chose to ignore comments made on you and DID reply to those unwelcome allegations on your life, family or otherwise. Whether a celebrity or not every common man who has dared to do something uncommon thru his mettle or skill has attracted a lot of flak from people who would more often than not try to find faults instead of appreciating their good work. I guess it is human nature to poke a person who is quiet. People wouldn’t dare to poke a rude or nasty person. But the nicer you are the worse things can be said and written about you.
But then if dogs are barking behind us and we keep stuffing cotton to shut out the sound the dog won’t stop barking. Unless we stand up and turn around to at least give a formidable look to scare it away.
In India the general psyche of people is “why should I bother, when I am clean” or better still “try to keep quiet and ignore what is being written or said or done around us, otherwise people will think it is half truth or fully truth, that is why I am reacting vehemently”. Because everybody avoids conflict and stress related to it.
But I think of late you have done a good job of giving it back to the media and other people who are forever busy finding faults with you. Being a public person people will exert their right to write any and everything. But in the end you are a person, and a free person in a free country. You have all the right to live in peace. What you have achieved is your hard work, luck and god’s blessings. That doesn’t make you liable to slander.
I think you have done a gr8 thing at this point to make your point loud and clear, thru your blog, to all those swimming in pot loads of yellow journalism. With your status and stature in the society you can very well make the pen - rather the keyboard- an effective sword of sorts to cut all the dirt out of the media and verbal politics against you.
Most people are afraid to use the vocal medium to protest effectively. Especially the meeker, gentler and nicer and more educated and polished people. That is probably one of the reasons why many crimes against the meeker, gentler and educated classes go unreported. But the fact is “we the people” and our voices can move nations if we just have the strength to speak out loud.
I just sincerely wish you all the luck in responding effectively on any issue that hurts your soul. And may you inspire others to do the same in the same manner you have inspired millions thru you movies.
I am your daughter’s age, and am somewhat like you. For a long time I didn’t respond and thought the flying arrows will die their natural death. But now I realize that timely reaction would have made a whole lot of difference to my sleep patterns. hee hee. I was too educated to respond to trash.
But I don’t leave an opportunity to respond strongly enough, and feel really good after that person looses interest in me and takes on someone else.
I have never stopped giving it back to people who resent my success. Initially in my teenhood I was scared to loose face, but now I am wiser and I do it with wit and caustic humour. In bangla they would say ” ikhu dando prahar” hitting with the sweet sugarcane. It will be hard but sweet.
Hope your response goes to the right people and you have no sorrow on your soul and can sleep peacefully. The satisfaction of giving a good fight is always better than regretting that you never fought at all. You are going good and will go good for the next coming centuries with the example you set and inspirations you provide to millions.

Disbelief? Quite likely! Even so check it out. It’s completely harmless. I use it.

Dearest Mr. Bachchan
I first heard about your blogg through the BBC Asian Network and cannot believe my luck being able to write to you, knowing that you may actually get a chance to read it.
I am a thirty-nine year old British Born Indian who has had the privilege to be introduced to Indian Cinema from a very early age particularly through your classic films.
Since from the early age of five, I have watched, admired and respected all of your work together with following news of your well being.
I have had the opportunity to collect all of your work, shake your hand at Madam Tussauds in London when your waxwork was revealed and also purchase your 60th Birthday Celebration book presented to you by your dear wife. I have been following your career since the seventies, and feel as though you are actually one of my family members, often referring to you as my Uncle.
Through following your work initially via my Fathers Indian newspapers and magazines, and now through the beauty of the internet, I have also been able to learn about our beautiful country India, it’s languages, religions, history, culture and politics. From following you and your films, I have learnt so much about our country which has made me feel not too far away from it.
You are a true inspiration, and I admire you and your family sincerely.
My children not being fortunate to visit India frequently are also benefiting from our heritage through Indian Cinema. My daughter and eldest son prefer Abhishek’s work, whilst my youngest son similar to me, prefers to watch your classic films. It was only last week when I introduced him to “Mr. Natwarlal” and “Ram Balram”. He loved them.
If you do get a chance to read this, I would simply like to say Thank You.
Not only are you a great Actor, but I believe you to be a Great Human Being.
I’d like to wish you and your entire family, whom I also have great admiration for, all the sincere best wishes in the world.
You are a great example and inspiration to all families.
Please feel free to contact me if you are ever in the England.
It would be an absolute honour for me to be your host, for all the education you have provided me and my family.
Lots of Love, Best Wishes and Kindest Regards from

Sherwood College story and the way u fought this allegation and the recent MNS allegations shows that u r a real fighter.

Every sentance you speak comes from your heart. You practise what you preach. Those who talk loose about you are jealous of you success. Just ignore them. But yes rebuttal is necessary. Ole!!
Dear Sir,
“I Stand up and applaud’
So articulate, yet so detailed , so poignant yet so vivid, so angry yet so controlled. Sir you have as if mastered the art of repartee.
Toilet paper if you realise comprise the first three words.. TOI..in other words Times of India, its partners in crime Midday and Mumbai Mirror are part and parcel of TOI-LET PAPER.
It is indeed distressing that someone of your caliber has to match wits with grasshoppers and obdurate minds like Shaheen Parkar or the editor of hit list the Tanwar woman. How can ever a pig be sensitised to the chirping of a nightingale? But the disturbing part is that media today is infested with those who perhaps would have ended up jobless otherwise and are now wielding a pen , remote controlled by vicious and evil minds.
I can understand and relate totally with the frustration of having read what you did so many years ago on the cover of TOI edition. Your fuming over it and fire within is discernible and TOTALLY JUSTIFIED. One wishes you had spoken up earlier..but I guess..there is a time and it is always the right time , as this is.
We have to speak to people in the language they can understand. Its time the media henchmen understand ONCE AND FOR ALL that celebrities dont NEED them.. they NEED celebrities to load their gossip rags with. Either they learn to accord due respect to themselves and their papers by according respect to those whose names grace their papers or then get ready to be EXPOSED for their BLACKMaILING , unceremoniously, clearly and REPEATEDLY..
Reputation is not such a big deal if held to ransom by those who perhaps cannot face themselves in the solitude of their own mind, considering that day after day all they do is feed lies and gossip to ever eager uneducated minds who thrive on such malicious slander.
You are doing well SIR… eenth ka jawwab patthar se dijiye.. Silence is definitely not dignified in a land of deaf!!
Much Regards

The people hardly speak of this movie, coz, it is hidden in the lihgts of “ZANZEER”, “ANAND”, SHOLAY, MUKADDAR……, TRISHUL, LAWARIS, SHARABI etc. etc. BUT I became your fans after Watching MAZBOOR. I saw this movie more than 100 times. Wonderful….. No words to express the appreciation.
Being your fan, I would like to suggest you to please continue with any programme like KBC. Believe me, the greatest boost to your TRP was due to KBC. Your performance in KBC brought to among the layman.
My last advice to you is to remain away from Poloitics. Maintain a reasonable amount of distance from Politicians. Nevertheless, you can continue your family friendship with Amar Singh ji.

Hi Amitabh,
I was just thinking why there is no post from you today and in the next browse I see your post. Nice to see your sincerity, managing time in between works.
Yes, you are correct. Talk it out in blog. People will refer to this site to check any news on you rather than beleiving the media reports.
I remember those days when bofors allegations were dumped on you. On those days your mesmerising magic was getting on me. I used to see almost all your movies and started idolizing you….your anti hero angry image used to influance me. And I started loving you, adoring you. But that time only I heard the news of bofors and how you were implicated in that allegation. I saw your posters blakened by public in road and news channels. I used to think why you were maintaing silence.
I used to stay in hostel that time and I used to go to neighbour house to watch movie on DD if there were any Amitabh movie. My neigbour used to allow me because they knew by that time that I am die hard fan of Amitabh. I remember one day I went to my neighbour house to watch Milli, but the way picture was cut and was made to end abruptly that I felt very bad.
But I was sure in my mind that you were innocent. I used to have belief that you will come out of this. Then one day I got news that you are fighting agaist this allegation in court. VP Singh was PM that time. I was happy that you are fighting to prove your innocence and was afraid at the same time because implicating flase case on anybody is not rare case in our judiciary system. I used to pray to God. I was happy that day when you won the case. I happy more because in my mind my faith and belief for you was strengthened.
Earlier I used to admire you as an actor, but as I grown up and saw you also move in differnt situation in life, my respect for you as a person grown.
You do not know but I will tell you that my parents are big fan of yours. I saw Suhag with my parents when I was small. Now also when my sits to watch Baghban, he will cry. There is scene in Baghban, where you say ‘hamne bachoki khusiyoke liye agar apna khusiyoko mar diya to hamne kya kiya..humne jindegime kuch nahin kiya’ and you turn your face saying “chii” . He liked the scene most and will say “what a performence!”
How is your health now?
Take care.

your blog brought back vivid mmemories of yester years. i still remember the article you wrote in The Illustrated Weekly under the title “Beware the fury of a patient man” that prompted me to write a letter to the editor, Mr. Pritish Nandi. When the letter was published in a box, it was the only letter written in your support. To my dismay, the most important part of the letter was deleted(for lack of space i think).Today i again quote those four lines which were very relevant then and is even now. In Hamlet, the bard of avon says-
Trully to be great is not to stir
without great arguments,
but greatly to find a quarrel in a straw,
when honour is at the stake.
Looking forward to interacting with you

Dear Mr. Bachchan,
Its good luck of we Indians that we get united at at least one point, despite of various regions, religions caste and creeds. You are the face of United India.
You are embedded in the psyche of this country like Gandhi and Ram who are underlining part of our cultural identity, identity of India.
You are a seer indirectly who has touched lifes of millions. Don’t compare it with any other movie star as they get usual fanfareship. But your connection with public is much higher and spiritual where you are lucky enough to get love as well as respect.
In such time where all cultural values respect and human quality are falling, even you were not spared by thugs and goons like Raj Thackray, your personal quality makes you the towering person from which lots of inspirations can be drawn.
Choice of Movies:
A request at last is that kindly select people and movies around you carefully. Please break all records of acting. Explore the untouched or unnoticed areas of human emotions. You have done lots of good movies in your 1970’s but some of your successful movies were pathetic. Don’t do movies like Mohabbatein just because its of Chopras and Johars. Chopras were made becasue A bachchan was there not vice versa.
Its your very mature phase and I get happy when I see you acting marvelously in movies like Chini Kum, AanKhen, BLACK, Khaki…but same time get disappointed when you do movies like Eklavya which had all gloss and zero content and preachy delivery laced with pseudo-intellectualism. it was just in contrast of Chini Kum which was subtle and intelligent approach.
An advice of your expression use and dialogue delivery would be that kindly modulate your voice according to the character you play. Your dialogue delivery sometimes looks very loud yelling and cacophonous and very predictable. Same way with facial expressions. I am not saying that it is happening evreytime but msot of the time. This problem was not in your 1970’s and 1980’s phase. Like in Eklavya and Sarkar your facial expression was monotonously down in order to portray the serious characters, which could have been done differently instead of totaly dead face and speaking eyes. I felt that with eyes face too should speak. You have done it excellently yourself if you watch your “O Sathi Re†Song of Muquaddar ka Sikandar or any of your old movies or recently in BLACK(When you watch the girl sensing water and speaking it first time) and CHINIKUM(When you get the news of death of Sexy on phone..impeccable expressions). Face gave the up and down of emotions like sea tides and waves…no extremely high no extremely low.
I am too small to comment on you. It was just an advice which i don’t know even if would get noticed. Still if you read it just think once on it.
May God Bless you will long and healthy live and you keep on making movies for next 20 years or more or as much as possible.
Your name means a lot: “A Ray Which is Invincibleâ€. Keep it valid always for sake of the man who gave it to you!
Warm regards,
Ravi

I really hope that you read this post. Its really a wonder of the Internet that we are able to read your thoughts and respond. I have always admired you and your work. I am really surprised that you are still coming in movies and working so hard at your age !!! Sometimes i wish i could be as famous as you are or even half of it, but when i see the problems the celebrities have with media & news, i really feel a lot safer & better as i am !!!
Also i don’t know why the media keeps on badgering all you celebrities and creating unnecessary controversies (for example - Conflict between you & SRK, Aamir).
Hasn’t the Indian media got any other better job to do ?? All they do i write or talk about celebrities and some obscure occurrence in a village where some child fell in a well !! I feel our Indian media has forgotten its responsibility towards the society ! They are not at all concerned about the condition of the country or the people’s views !!! But all this is my point of view, don’t know if you feel the same or not…..
Anyways, it nice to know that a person like you has his own blog to express his disapproval about anything, rather than fighting the media & people. Believe me Internet Bloggers are a huge community and i think you must have seen that the day you started blogging. On a personal note, i myself do not like blogging, i feel its a waste of one’s time…. but then if you have time, then its fine !! I also respect & adore you for your ability to manage your time so well !!
Diwakar.

Hello Amit ji,
Knowingly or unknowingly, you are writing interesting chapters of your autobiography on this blog..with ‘live’ day by day updates, experiences, and anecdotes.
This blog medium was not possible even a few years back. So you are doing this at the right time
And I think by day 100 (which is not far at all), this blog will be a treasure. And I will print it all, including the thousands of wonderful comments!
Best Wishes Always,
Shankar

Dear Mr. Bacchan,
Where all comments are more or less ppl gushing about how they feel about you, my question might come as a critique. But I really want to know
why did you start blogging on bigadda and not your own website?
Is this a proxy blog or do you actually do all the writing yourself?
Best regards

Dear Mr. Bachchan,
I am a mere fan of yours like millions others. I read all your blogs and some messages of your fans. Whenever I used to read something about you, be it good or bad, I always thought u as a very humble person & one who carry respect for others. Your magnanimous presence on KBC showed your warmth, your way to unite with anyone, your magic.
However it saddens me to read & feel your anger towards the media, your colleagues or to some other unknown people. People talk when you are successful, and if they don’t, then look out, your success might be running low. As a mere spectator to all the controversies which surround you and your well-wisher, I never had any doubt in you or your family integrity. Adding a celebrity like Aishwarya to your family, people are bound to jealous & write malicious things. To guard them, you just need to keep moving ahead with your grace and dignity.
Best Regards
Sapna

I am not sure what happened during that bofors scandal, but it seems like it demanded a clarification or a stand. but the recent potshots made at you simply deserve a cold shoulder as many have already expressed that to you. it is evident from the industry and people respnse that it was a publicity gimic. the people are defending you. And as far as i think there is more respect and admiration for you than disrespect. Its only a certain quantity of people that find it amusing to mutilate your image publically. For me the name amitabh bachchan reflects qualities like humility, good son ,good actor and not bofors. I don’t think the current generation including me even knows what bofors means. but its true that you have made great efforts to defend your good nature and it has reached the people. As the potshots against you seems to increase gradually the more people realize it exponentially that its not you who is bad but the potshoters themselves. Again what goes arround comes arround.

Hello Mr Bachchan,
Everybody has his own privacy, people must to respect that. Of course, for us, fans of Yours, its important to know every detail of Your life but there are some limits (I know that and I wish more people know too).
As You say, Sir family is the most important thing in our life and we must fight with everybody who wants to hurt our family.
Its very sad when people dont undersatnd it (especially journalist, “pseudo journalist”)
Hats of to You, Im with You Sir. Keep going on.

Respected Dear Amitji,
Right from childhood i have been your admirer. your life has been idealistic to me for you are one of those few celeb who lead their life with dignity, i am greatly inspired by the values and ethics that are inculcated in you by your parents. i am a person of few words and really dont know how to express my feelings for you. More than your screen persona (which ofcourse is admirable as you are the finest actor with larger than life image, you make people laugh in times of grief and sorrow and give them a reason to cry along with you and they feel lighthearted and dont have to curb their feelings and emotions, as it is very important from medical point of view to have unrestricted flow of emotions, which is creditable) i adore you because of your real life, in my view it is definitely ‘perfection personified’. In my fathers words you are carrying forward the legacy of your father in a dignified and idealistic way.In this way you are meeting our expectations at every sphere of life and so we as your wellwishers have complete FAITH in you and for us there is no need to give any clarification. Your noble thinking and deeds answer to all those who require any sort of clarification. May god bless you and fulfill all your wishes.
with warm regards and lots of love,
JYOTSNA.

Dear Mr Bachchan,
Before I begin may I wish you all the best in your future films and May Allah give you the best of happiness and health…Ameen.
I think its time for serious talk. As we (people that read and write in this blog) very well know, this blog was solely constructed for the demise of misunderstandings concerning yourself and expression of clarification when needed. Being your admirers we inevitably indulged in our love for you to take precedence over any other matter, and we hope you dont blame us for that.
Coming back to the point of many writers and intellects and normal folk alike questioning your decision to create a blog in which you can answer specifically to any reports in the media or any accusations levelled against you or your family, I have one question to all the people against this… WHAT IS WRONG IN SOMEONE DEFENDING THEMSELVES???????????????????????????
Just because he is Amitabh Bachchan does not mean he doesnt get hurt too. Bachchan ji I believe its high time you started to defend yourself. My only regret is why you didnt do this before???
Sir, dignified silence works both ways. But its no good you respecting the right for the freedom of ‘no speech’ when all the vultures work the other way.In the world we live in if you keep quiet you will get stamped on. No two ways about that. Please dont get me wrong, Im only 26 and you are of much superior age and experience, in no way whatsoever do i dare to give you any advice, I am nothing in your everything.
When Abhi-Ash got married there was this rumour of Ash marrying a tree due to a Manglik clause. I heard it and to be honest with you Bachchan Ji, I didnt think twice about it. I didnt think it was necessary for me to have an opinion on the marriage ritual of a Hindu family. What I cant grasp is that just say it was true (obviously it wasnt), what is the big deal??? Really, so what??? There’s people dying, getting butchered, raped around the world and the media is solely concerned with the daughter in law of Amitabh Bachchan getting married to a tree???
I do not know much detail about the Hindu faith but what I do know is that everyone has the right to follow their religion in its entirity. Ok Amitabh Bachchan did not follow this ritual but many other Hindus around the world probably have. They did so because they are followers of their religion however obscene it may sound to other people. Now the media hasnt just degraded Amitabh Bachchan but degraded the millions of people that have or are following this tradition/ritual. If they dont agree with it then what right have they to disrespect it? Yes, everyone is allowed to voice their opinion, but one should advocate sincerity and ensure to their utmost best that noone is harmed with their comments.
There are millions of people around the world that believe Muslims are crazy when we stone the wall (which represents the dwelling of the devil) during the blessed month of Hajj. But we do this because this is what we believe. To hell with the people that think we are weird. God orders us to do this, and we do it. No ifs, no buts. Likewise other religions are criticised when a certain action they perform conflicts to the norm of another’s society.
I am not comparing rituals of different faiths but merely attempting to potray the fact that we as humans adhere to different religious beliefs but one belief we all share is the sanctity of humanity and the right to respect each and everyone’s faith.
If I was Hindu and this manglik issue was to befall on my daughter in law and I felt I needed to carry out the necessary ritual then I definately would have. For one simply reason alone- THIS IS MY FAITH!!! No matter what anyone says.
I apologise for my lack of knowledge on the Hindu faith and express my greatest regret if i have unintentionally hurt anyones feelings but what Im striving to convey is that practicing ones religion is a private affiar, not for all to see and jugde and present conclusions.
Another issue I read earlier is that of a director namely basu (cant remember the first name) saying that you should quit acting. This is not the first time Ive heard this statement from people. My answer to this is that acting is not a field which is limited to the individuals fitness, age, knowledge, strength etc. If you were a boxer then yes you should have retired years ago. If you were a footballer then you definately would have not been around. Likewise many other occupations are limited to certain factors, however acting is one of the very few professions in which the barriers are subject to ones own ability. If you were no good in acting then you shouldnt be here. What i dont understand is that why people do not ask say Anupam Kher, Om Puri to retire or Naseeruddin Shah to quit? If its a matter of age then you all have a similar age group. But if its a matter of acting ability then you are by far extremely superior. Then why the calls for your head?
I believe its a stereotype we as asians generally hold that once an actor reaches a certain age he/she should ‘gracefully’ leave. Even in this sterotypical view we are not fair. I dont see anyone asking de Niro to leave or Pacino to pack up. Is it because they are not the same colour and we have this inferior complexity??? They are them and we are we. They too verily are the same age and certainly much lower in acting ability and perfection including versitality.
Bachchan Saab please keep destroying all the voices that are rising against you. Everyone is dying to take your spot. But little do they know that some heights are Unreachable. Some plains are Unattainable. Some people are Unforgettable.
One of the best quotes of all time comes to mind…
“RISHTEY MEIN AAP SAB KE BAAP HOTE HAI…
NAAM HAI……”
With all my love and affection

Hi Mr. Bachchan,
Media writes about you because people want to hear about you all the time. So they create nasty stories for people to have 5 juicy minutes when they read and they can sell more.
I think this is a very good medium to reach out to people like us and tell us what you think without other people distorting your words. But you support is such that even if you dont give any explanations we would know who is right.

Media only worries about reporting the latest, most salacious story they can find, not about the protecting the dignity and character of the people involved.
The silent, dignified route can be upheld in some situations but not in others. Kudos to you for standing up and setting the record straight all the while maintaining your dignity and showing them that you can’t keep good people knocked down for too long.
Glad to see you doing better. Take good care of yourself.

Dear Mr.Bachchan,
I was sorry to know about your injury. Hope you are recovered now.
I was a student of Dr. Harbans Rai Bachchan when he was doing hiS B.T from BHU, Benaras. When he was having practical exam, I had told him that unless he recites MADHUSHALA in his usual way ,he can not pass. He did that. Later I met him in Ooty in 1979 at Savoy, I reminded him of that instance, I was very happy that he remembered it. We talked about those days for long time. I shall always cherish that moment.
I am glad that you are following his foot steps and keeping up his legacy. Please keep it up and try to inculcate those legacies in your children.
With best wishes and my prayers for your fast recovery.
