It is late, but it has been a full and constructive day.
Promotional activities have consumed most of the time, after shooting for ‘Aladin’ ended.
Srinivasan Jain and Barkha Dutt from the same channel NDTV being the last two.
The former a little more rushed than the latter, but both hinging on topics already expressed upon in the print media. Barkha more incisive, Sri in a hurry ; maybe his time limitations were somewhat acute.
The questions had similar content. Not to say that the other 42 interviews that I did in the evening were any better, but ’similar’ was the unchallenged constant. Shatrughan Sinha, Salim Khan, Raj Thakeray, Anurag Basu. Commerce and sensationalism still riding high on their intelligent shoulders.
Why so angry now ? Would you still be friends with them ? Why do you think you are attacked ? Would you still greet them ?
And i wait for the dynamic headlines announcing the interview. Some thing that will draw attention, keep the audience unmoved from their channel. Phone in’s may get constructed around comments of mine. Do you think he is right in saying so - phone in your comments at 58822 something, put Y and gap and N and gap. Get the graphics of the percentage going, call in a semi intellectual, preferably from the film Industry and certainly not ‘Bachchan Camp’ into the studio, repeat the questions asked in interview, expand them, cover half hour or else the adverts will not fructify. Culminate the proceedings on a note where the channel looks good and unbiased, yet signals its last cynical or sarcastic ending, dynamic background music and…. channel ID !!
Matter over.
Anchors move on to the next programme - a rape or shoot out, car having run over pedestrian sleepers. Get the blood, get the relatives in various stages of shock and dismay, weeping and distraught close ups would help. Catch the cops for comment and the ambulance taking away the bodies. Didn’t get the shot ? Damn !! No problem, pick up the visual from the day before as the bus plunged into the river, patrol cars and ambulances were seen there as well.
Anchor at news asking their on the spot colleague, to report what is happening, in the same tone as when describing Dhoni hitting a six at a cricket match !!
An average scene at any given time on any given channel.
And they talk of monotony and lack of fresh content in our cinema. They talk of ripping off foreign DVD’s and plagiarism. Where did they get there programme ideas from ? Are any of their presenters sitting in front of studious looking desks any different from the sets of the BBC or ABC or CNN Studios. Is ‘Seedhi Baat’ not ‘Hard Talk’ is KBC not ‘Millionaire’ ?
Afternoon of 28th, CNN-IBN 12:25pm news on review. Title, ‘Busy Big B’ a recap of the launch of a game show for Bhooth Nath. Launch over, media questions. The same rumor laced spicy barbs.
The blog is occupying much debate. Thank you. I am honored there is interest in it. How do you get there ? I give them the address. Next question- are you anxious about what the media writes about you. I respond yes for i do not know what abuse will come my way. Back to condescending anchor, male, in a fetching suit and tie, a tinge of sarcasm and one up manship, a wry smile and the closing before the signature tune takes over.. ” Far cry from the Amitabh Bachchan that had boycotted the media not so long ago” !!
Brilliant, CNN-IBN !! You have denounced the BIG B and come out looking superior. After all media credentials must always be on top. The last word must be ours. ‘News is not what happened, news is what media says happened’ - famous editorial quote from the owner of a daily.
Except its the other way round !
Media blacked out Amitabh Bachchan in the 70’s on the ridiculous assumption that press censorship during the Emergency was instigated by him, because of his proximity to Shrimati Indira Gandhi.
My name my activities my photographs all banned from any and every journal, in retaliation. Even in the credit titles of a film under reference in print, would not carry my name in the star cast. It would be reduced to a comma !
It was then that i decided that if they had the liberty to ban me, I had similar liberty to ban them. And yes for almost 10 years I never entertained them.
(its 3:37 am, i must rest - my mind is foggy. will take up the rest early tomorrow)
2:55 pm Mehboob Studio
I am protective of my fraternity and my profession - who isn’t !
I lament the fact that an Industry that has become the parallel culture of the country, whether it is good or bad for the country I do not know, should not be given its due status in society.
The word ‘filmy’ is often used in derogative term, often to describe an act or subject which is considered below par or not of sufficient quality in comparison with other prevalent accepted norms.
Why ?
Jaya walks out of Parliament as a demonstration of her right as an MP, in disagreement with proceedings in the august Sabha. Commentator on TV, “these 20 somethings, that believe History started when they were employed” adds her little bit of savvy … ” and Mrs Bachchan walks out in typical filmy style”.
What is filmy style pray ?
I shall tell you. Its a lot better than slogan shouting, fisticuffs flying, microphone ripping, female denuding, helium gassed black ballooning, well entering, other public representatives of our nation !!
Will the media coin a word for them and their actions please. For I see them exhibiting their histrionics somewhat regularly on national TV !!
Or would you dare to call it ‘filmy’ ? And if you did, would you also kindly give a reference to the film in which you found this example ?
Amitabh Bachchan

April 29th, 2008 at 3:35 pm
Yes Sir, you are very correct indeed in saying this.
“I am protective of my fraternity and my profession - who isn’t !”
Everybody is protective about it and justified in doing so!

Amitji,
I waited for the your writeup for today since morning and what a writeup it is. First of all i am a little taken aback by your anger at the news channels. I can understand it though. The way the news channels dramatize and sensationalize the issues are pretty repetative and funny.
Secondly, I somehow realize how excruciating it can be to live in full media glare. The kind of attention this blog is getting is totally uncalled for.I guess your fans getting to listen to your comments first hand is just not easy for the media i guess.
I request you to keep your enthusiasm .not get bothered by the unwelcome comments and to just to carry on with this blogging for people like me who are avid readers.
The first time i came into a blog was yours. I learning this whole process of blogging through your blog.
The emotions you had expressed and shared with us about people who have commented about you recently are already avaialbe to us. how these people react and go forward from here is left to them.
Kudos to your efforts.

Sir,
I understand your anguish and concerns for your privacy, and honestly you have a right to lead a private life. I also respect the film industry as a lot of effort and motivation is required to stay the course. But I must say I’m not too happy with the portrayal of media - well not all of it. I used to work in a news channel in India but now I’m working in a western media, which I think is mindful of things like right to privacy and the fine line between tabloid and news. So in all honesty I hope you would not stereotype all journalists since those who stay away from tabloid feel insulted the same way you are dismayed by the term ‘filmy’. I agree some Indian channels highlight trivial issues to grab eyeballs.
It is refreshing to see you take up the pen - in this case the mouse.

Hi Mr Bachchan, it’s really nice to see that you take the blog so seriously and are so committed to it that you blog everyday! It’s commendable. But Mr Bachchan please tell us about you, if you liked a film, what are you reading right now, any recent film you saw that you wished you had done, your favourite holiday destination etc… I eagerly wait for your blog to read something about “You” but what I get is your opinion on the media. I’m not interested in that. I’m sure I speak for a lot of your fans who feel that you are giving too much importance to media… Just chill! Don’t take them too seriously… we still love you and always will… have a great day!

Couldn’t agree with you more. Rajdeep Sardesai says, when asked about bhoot-praeth stories on his Hindi channel, ‘I don’t want to be another Doordarshan.’ What he means is I will only cater to the lowest tastes of the public, and then he goes on to castigate politicians for catering to vote banks.

I guess it may also be because the public would rather wanna read something like Mrs.Bachchan walks out filmy style , Than Mrs.Bachchan walks out of parliament.. Everything has to have a tinge of spice !!!
But when you do reply and retaliate back to the accusations , You are labelled as a Rebel and Being too Bossy !! But I can say that when you do reply to accusations and rumours and give it back to their faces , Reporters would fear to report false !! Or atleast some would !!

Sir
I agree with everything you very well stated. You bring out many extremely valid and acceptable points in your arguments. I am bound reply on comments which previously comes in your blogs. I am regular visitor of your Blog. Now your Blog has become Open Gateway of allegations crossing the limit of your personal life, by your Blog you have given an opportunity to comment with baseless questions. Please never reply of comment on certain issues that is related to your personal life & your family and close associates. Its an Undue advantage of your Blog.
I am advocating just the opposite in reply to the comment in your Blog. Its not bad thing that you associate with politics accept the challenge and you should again come in politics. This country strongly require the person like you come in politics and serve for the nation. we (fans) want that you work for the good of our Country and again I am saying you can change the picture of the Country . Most of the comments in your Blog that your problem starts from the day you enter in politics the question is “Why the only problem exists with Amithabh bachan with politics why not for Govinda or other Film Stars.” Reason behind you think ever before ?. The high feeling & thinking of your’s forced you to enter the politics for the first time in 1985 that time Amar Singh ji , Anil Ambani ji, Mulayam Singh ji was not there with you when you enter in politics . In my opinion when you say Good By to the politics and surrender your political weapon provided to you by public then the problem starts. I am very happy to say that you have friend like Amar singh ji ,Anil Ambani ji they are really your family member their devotion and sincerity can never be doubtful or challenged and your friendship cannot be mixed with politics. Everybody knows they are your friend first after that they are politican & industrialist. Now a days its very easy to give allegation truth is now complicated. My answer to the question of every Indian who really are the Fans of yours knows its an attempt to keep you far away from the politics ,other politicians/ Parties afraid of reason below.
1.Your words are easily acceptable to every Public of India
2.Public of India loves you they respect to keep your words
3.You voice your words will become voice of India you will always be winner
No doubt you are the noble person in the Country who can get easily love, honour & respect, supporting the true meaning of the Constitution. On the other hand you are not acceptable to those who are afraid and worried of you and your popularity there politics will go down by your voice/words, your voice can be voice of India it can be angry protest by lot of public outcry. It’s an attempt to keep you far away from the politics I believe that you can make this nation great again you can bring back awareness to all the people in building their own Indian Dream. This is a great nation of people.
“We cannot change anything until we accept it.
“Zindagi Jeene Ke do hi tareeke hote hain,Ek, Jo ho Raha Hai, Hone do,bardast karte jao,Ya fir, Zimmedari Uthao usse badalne ki” effort has been made at your end.
I have given you more than enough thought on two rules and hopefully something to think about in how you conduct your investigations.
As for me the above questions remains whether you acccept for change or not? If possible Reply gives courage to your real Fans.
I believe that we can make this nation great again.

What a brilliant post Amitji! I guess though that media is a reflection of the audience. If the audience doesn’t really care for the kind of coverage on the news, the media wouldn’t show it. That’s how they get their TRPs, and that’s how they manage to charge the rates they do for the adverts in between. The fundamental issue is that news has become entertainment. News is worthy only if it catches a few million eyes, and is sensational enough to warrant some space. If media has become what it has, we have ourselves to blame.
But there are quite a few independent media centres now. For instance do check out Indymedia -which is Independent Media - making news something that a common person creates and reports. While it is by no means adequate, I think it’s a step towards the right direction - a sort of mix between the “dictated” and “free” media.
As for someone slandering you with your supposed closeness to the Nehru-Gandhi family - perhaps they should level the same accusations at all the people who vote for the party. But I guess it’s all too easy to blame it on someone like you.

Dear Bachhan sir,
Pranam.
I am writing from London,UK where I currently work as a consultant.
I will start with the expression which you would have memorised by now… “I am a great fan of yours and I love your movies and I mean it” !!
I am not sure why I am writing this because I am skeptical firstly you will never respond to me and even if your assistant who would be helping you manage this respond..it will be just a one time affair.
But, like every Indian thinks and wants…so do I..to be remotely associated with ‘Big B’
I admire your consistent contribution towards Indian Cinema and I am working on collating your profile with several other prominent actors (Dev sahab,Dilip sahab, dharm sahab etc) elaborating on ‘International impact to Cinema by Indians’.
The work surely is tough and information scarce but commitment is high.
I don’t have a ‘filmy’ background to support but my taste is very filmy is what my family says.
What do I have to do startling to be able to meet you in person and persue my dream of preserving your historic contribution in an epic form for centuries to read and reflect. I am eager to know; i have the money i have the concept i need information…
Best Regards,
Himani

It makes sense what you wrote. I wonder if sections of the media will actually try to answer your questions as they will go through your blog. Something interesting happened with me as well but on a very very tiny scale. We had a debate in school today, Should water distribution be privatized? It was only an hour long but it was starting to get slightly irritating to me as I realized the other side hadn’t been listening to me. They had their points that they had thought of previously and kept bringing those out. That’s a good thing to do but most of it was nothing in response to what I was saying. And here we were in the same room in front of each other. It made me conscious it made me question myself if I was doing what they were doing so I paid even more attention. I learned the difference between beginning able to hear and actual listening.
Anyways forget this. We are so excited to see you in Aladin, its going to be an awesome film. Also can’t wait to watch boothnath.
Your admirer,
Sincerely,

Are we really made of that? C’mon - if we north indians are evicted out of maharashtra then next will be US asking all Indians to go back and why not, some Indian leaders are only promoting it! It appears from ur writings that media is gainst u. i think media has certainly paid some contribution in making u a person whom we admire.
certainly media has duty to report the things in right perspective but they are afraid of TRP. they get better TRP only when they report something which keeps on the interest of the public. the human nature makes one interested whenever any war-of - words between big -ones is shown on TV.
u have taken right decission to show ur feelings on the blog. i am quite hopeful that media will interpret the feelings in right earnest.

Dear Mr. Bachchan: I have recently discovered Indian Cinema in Orange, CT, in the past two years, and I am delighted, amazed, overwhelmed and thrilled. I am looking forward to “The Last Lear”, the “Unforgettable Tour”, and all of your next movies. I almost hopped a plane to Miami to see your family on set.
Not knowing much about your local happenings, I am compelled to say that, in general, the news has become an entertainment item complete with ratings which affect advertising dollars or rupees. In the old days we would have turned on Walter Cronkite and watched the news. Nowadays, we turn on the tube (HDTV now) for major network news only to find a pop culture commentator and then Paris Hilton and her ilk making “news”. BBC news or Jim Lehrer, where are you? Even the news has “sold out”. Do you have the same alternatives??
Oh, for the good old days!

Dear Amitji,
Greetings! Hope you are recuperating at a steady and positive pace. May you always be in good health and spirits. Amen!
It is disheartening to read/be intimated on all the negative press that you are being meted out. Our media has gone to the dogs, and no stoop is too low for them to get a headline. They seem to have zeroed in on you due to your celebrity status. I totally agree that a dignified silence under the current circumstances will but invite further fodder for the cannibalistic headline-chasers.
They seem to manipulate even the written word to their advantage (case in point, your comments regarding Shatrughan Sinha have been played around with to headline “Big B hits out at Shatrughan Sinha in a blog” - Times of India dated 23/04/2008). Tsk tsk.
Anyways - coming back to the topic of Cinema, am seriously hoping for some comedies from the inimitable Big B. Is there any in the immediate offing?
As for BHOOTNATH - the promos look quite good, and the SFX seems mighty expensive. The Mere Buddy song seems to have infected my vocal chords. Just a harmless q - is BHOOTNATH in any way inspired by THE CANTERVILLE GHOST?
And for now I bid you adieu. Stay cool!
Best Wishes

Dear Amitabhji,
I want back my respect for you, which you bull dozed with your film Aag. It was my birthday on 2nd Sept and I was in US a week before that. I requested my wife to book tickets in advance so that I can celebrate my birthday by watching you movie. Aag runied my day and the whole year.
Though a great amount of responsibility lies on Ramuji, but you being a part of it should own it up to appropriate extent. Aag is not a failed experiment but a thoughtful disaster.
You owe your fans and me an explanation.

Dear Amitji,
The word ‘filmi’ is now used for anything which looks over the top. Dramatic. The coinage of the term ‘filmi’ (filmy in English has different connotations) is, I suspect, Stardust-ish—- one of those strange Hinglish words which has come to stay in our vocabulary. I agree it is over-used and misused. But life is like that– sometimes more weird than our film scripts. So when you want to make a big bang you often want to make it look dramatic.
Now that can be an eternal debate- whether our films are influenced by society or if society is influenced by films. It is a bit of both, though our films are largely reflections of what happens around us.
On this count, I feel you are over reacting. What makes you so ultra sensitive these days? I am reminded of your special ‘beware the fury of a patient man’! Chill! Don’t turn this blog into an instrument to whip anyone you want to. Your bitterness seems flowing unbound. Rein it in.

Anshu

Hey Mr. Big B,
My first blog entry for you and congratulations on entering this wonderful world of blogging! Nice way to network with millions of people/fans around this beautiful world.
Hope you will sometime read this message and I have a humble request for you Amitji.
First of all, I am around your height 6ft, 2 in and during my studies, my friends identified me by your good old name - Big B and somehow it became ‘Bade’ (as in Bade miyan, chote miyan)
I have a request to make with you, Mr Big B. I have the passion to support Eye Donation and for which, I have made a small effort to put all required information in my website (http://www.freewebs.com/giftyoursight)
I was even a member of EBAI, the organization for which you and Jayaji had filmed an ad for donation of eyes. Even Aishwarya Rai has filmed a video related to eye donation, which was successful for sometime. But now, nothing is being done for this noble cause and I humbly request you to take some time of your schedule and devote some time to promote this noble cause. I hope and believe that you will know how noble this eye donation is and how many people suffer because of lack of donors.
Amitji, I request you once again to start looking into this, as a humble figure for millions of people, you, Jayaji and Abhishek and Aishwarya - all of you can make a good positive impact to this society and to this world!
Please please promote eye donation and as per my coined term - Gift Your Sight!
Regards,
Pradeep Sudarshan,

Dear Mr. Bachchan,
You have mesmerised the Indian Film audience for nearly three and half decades. I sometimes really wonder how have you kept up the momentum for so long a period! I have learnt that you used to do some of the stunts of your films inspite of having some physical drawbacks. Its truely commendable & inspirational. Your voice modulations and comic times have been exceptionally good. You have a screen presence which i found second only to Bengal’s Uttam Kumar.
But, Mr. Bachchan, don’t you think that our media are a biased lot? They intentionally derogate a celibrity personality when they fail to achieve any favour from him/her. They hype up a very ordinary a star to make him a celebrity if the very action serves their purpose. I would be really obliged if you exopress your opinion on this.
There are thusands of people who struggle as much as a filmster and achieve maximum in their respective fields, yet we ourselves are more inclined to read about the nitty gritties of the life of a filmster than taking interest in the achievements of other achievers. Even though most of the filmsters nowadays,we find get unfair publicity for doing the most ordinary of the activities. Pls comment on this distorted Psychological phenomenon of ours ?

I always wonder about the accountability of media. If freedom of speech is guaranteed by the constitution, does it override the privacy and freedom of another individual, however ‘public’ may the figure be? Media particularly the audiovisual media is biased, opinionated and highly dependant on sensationalising everything in sight. Remember the minute by minute coverage of the small boy Prince who fell in a tubewell! It made me livid. How can TV cameras be allowed to be perched there and hamper rescue operation? Amazingly irresponsible, and one sided media groups with shrill anchors and reporters is what we have got. I feel sorry about this harsh comment but having seen a close friend at the receiving end day after day, your write up just made me write this email. Earlier I had written to the TV channels about articles / reported half truths about this friend of mine- to no avail. I hope if people like you point out their shortcomings perhaphs someone somewhere might take note of it.

Ha ha ha.. Amitji, you are just too good.. Its welcome when a person of your stature bring out issues worth a healthy debate.. Now, please do not be modest to say that you have the same “stature” as any other citizen, but it helps to make the junta think about issues affecting our society.
Yes, you are right in the views about the so-called news channels.. They always try to take the high moral ground. I was a bit disappointed with CNN IBN as I had high regard for Mr Rajdeep Sardesai and when he floated this channel, I thought that we might expect some relief from the stupid (excuse me for using that word) news channels busy with silly show of “breaking news” and “news flash”. Alas ! it was not to be..
The spate of news channels has made them “manufacture” news and they think they are the saviours of the society at large !! Its just that they are just broadcasting what they want to show..
And their coverage of the tragedy related news coverage is pathetic and appalling !! Imagine asking a mother who has lot her child in the floods or some such tragedy-”kya hua?” or “iska dosh aap kisko dena hahenge?”. DOnt these jounalists have any sense of civility while asking such questions ? Why cant they just switch off their cameras when they are covering such events and just sit & try to console those who have lost something ??! Are they bereft of any emotions for the sake of a “news item”?
I once wrote to a channel asking them to do a follow-up story on the so many reality show winners who are promised “break” in singing or acting by the celebrity jury / judges !! Aren’t they accountable for what they say on air and why dont the channels make their lives miserable by chasing them around and asking those celebrities to keep their promises.. As expected, nothing came out of it..
Sometimes, I wonder why you tend to sound sarcastic while given the news channels the much needed sound bites ??!! Now I know, you must be fed up of their silly game of oneupmanship in getting the “exclusive” tag and the repeated questioning…

Sir,
thank you for this insightful, interesting read (as always).
The media in my country (Germany) are sometimes boring, predictable and bad. But - sorry to say so - not THAT bad. There are boards to assure a ceratin standard of quality as well as a truthful and balanced coverage of news. There are ways to assure this quality: Media that don’t work according to those standards have to pay heavy fines; reporters lose their jobs if they don’t do proper research, or tell lies.
To me as an outsider it looks like Indian media desperately need a common, acceptable quality standard and ways to bind them to it.
Wishing you a better day today - and more sleep…
Yours
Amber

I dont belong to the media or film fraternity and hence have no vested interest in either, other than a pure entertainment on in the latter. I have sometimes, over the years given thought to writing to you, but thought it would have been a real killjoy effort if a reply came form your secretary. This kind of technology makes it simple to offer you my sincere sentiments.
I am an avid admirer of your many talents, especially your versatility and your countless sterling performances delivered over decades. I hasten to add that I am not fanatical nor bordering on any kind of obsession, in other words I will never pose a threat to you or to anything that is of importance to you.
I admire your eloquence and that you are so very articulate. Your professionalism demands to be emulated. I really like most things about you and that you never fail to deliver or produce a regal and stately demeanour.
There are few people that I admire and would consider myself wealthy if ever I had the opportunity to perhaps meet and share a meal; yourself, Sir Anthony Hopkins, Dalai Lama and off course our homegrown man of substance Nelson Mandela, I would be equally touched by any response or reply.
I sincerely hope to elicit a response from you personally and to have you know that it would be momentous to me.
With great sincerity and humility

Dear Amit Ji,
Its really great to get your comment and your thoughts on this blog. But same time I do feel that this blog is not the right canvas for you to give your comment. You don’t need a BLOG to give answer to others. You yourself lived a life which is non touchable. I think this BLOG is going to create more issue for your comment. As everyone wants to associate with you to get cheap publicity and if you comment anything on them you are giving full media coverage to them. I don’t deserve to give you any advice but since I care for you and your honesty. I think this BLOG will be harmful for you.

Hello Sir…Seemed like a lot was there to be said and a lot is yet to be said on the topic.
But yes, the media does become a lot overdramatic nowadays…sometimes I wonder, weren’t the DD News at 9 in the 80’s much better…at least they reported facts as it is!
It seems to have become a fashion for media channels to flash the ‘Breaking News’ ticker every now and then…do they realize that news which every other channel is showing doesn’t hold any exclusivity? Moreover, who is really interested in some wrestlers(read Khalli) daily activities or interviews which becomes Breaking News for them!
I think it is high time, such channels should stop belittling themselves in this fashion and concentrate on some serious journalism.

These channels that say WHATEVER IT TAKES..come down to fake journalism..trying to force their own opnions rather than report news. Its all a propoganda.. they must have backing of someone big. Its so frustrating to see people with no satnding commenting on you for publicity. Its funny how the entire politics in this country is played by dragging your name into it..be UP, Maharashtra, at the Centre, in the South when Rajnikanth episode happened. Its just amazing! They pick on your wife, daughter in law, son, friends..anything that they can pick on. Its all a propoganda. Any sane respectable person cannot take this lying down. I like the way you engage the audience here the same way as you do in screen, but found bit repetitive of getting back your relationship with media and current affair issues.

Respected Sir,
A trainer by profession at India’s fastest growing BPO Info vision at gurgaon,I am also a columnist for the Metro Now a daily tabloid of the Times Of India group and Hindustan Times.
A creative person by nature from childhood I have grown up on the values of your screen persona Vijay and adored you as God.
Your dignified presence and silence and the way you have brought up your kids have left an indelible mark on my prospective thoughts. I cannot claim to be the torch bearer of Big B’s greatest fan on the planet but certainly can vouch for the enticing position of the most intense.
Having closely followed all your movies and drwan inspiration from them I feel proud to idolise a human like you for the following reasons:
1. Your ubringing speaks of itself
2. The values that you have nurtured over the years are reflected in your family tree
3. The dedication and sincerity with which you work at this segment of your life are noteworthy and worth emulating
4. Your humility stahds second to none.
5. The versatality and quantum of work that you have been a part of Indian cinema has made our country proud at all quarters.
6. Your attitude of respect towards the younger generation.
7. The fact that you fought against all odds in life : a struggling start, no god father, ridicule by AIR for your voice , a non glamouised education, an ailing mother and father , ABCL and its demons to haunt you , polotical imbroglio are a few among a list of others that are equally invincible.
8. Your confidence in what you do has overshadowed all stars throughout the planet and made you an institution among millions the world over.
9. Your thought for a noble cause wherever possible is praiseworthy
Last but not the least your bilief in the Almighty and your family are a class apart.
Generations of would be and would be nots would ridicule you. The media might sometimes open up your pandor’as box for glorification. A certain section of th Film industry might have developed bad taste towards yourself for vested interests and so on and so forth.
For every human on the planet who is bent on maligning you I say there are a hundred others wishing good luck to you and your family and praying for your well being throughout.
It isnt that ( as you mentioned a couple of days back in an editorial article in TOI ) we waste time idolising stars. What should be understood is if real icons like you can prove in a lifetime that one can think beyond the ordinary in all spheres of alife and rise above the dictum” think big, dream big” to ” think big,act bigger” we should be grateful that a noble soul called Amitabh Bachachan has walked upon this planet and motivated our lives for the better.
I am enclosing an article of mine for you reading if you find time of course….
Will continue to blog and comment positively. God bless you and your family.
It would be an honour for me if you could visit my blog and leave a comment on my articles through which I am trying to bring a positive change in society.
Your blessings and comments would be highly valued.
A day in a call centre
It is 9 o clock and Abbey is already fighting early morning blues to get ready for the day ahead. The lucrative nights seemed to have taken a back seat for a few weeks. His bio clock wages a war to fight against himself and his behavior looks close to a nocturnal beast. Looking fatigued the attitude to fight ‘boredom’ and squeeze in hard work hasn’t changed. Shift requirements vary as per the process and the client. Let’s look at Abbey’s typical day at the office.
Off from his bed the urge to groom himself gets the better of him. Hunger takes a back seat. Man’s loyal friend the mobile (oops!! Not the dog anymore) alarms an array of missed calls and message trails to attend. Instant noodles are an instant hit in the kitchen and the ‘dhabawala’ is already waiting to mint more than the advisor himself. Barely able to get ready on time the cab waiting to pick him is already honking its way to frustration. By now Abbey looks like a navigator – browsing his mobile, his ipod blaring popluar numbers, tattoos and junk accessories speak volumes of his outlook – ‘dare to be different’. The cola and wafers compensate his dietary inadequacies.
A fazed look on his face the deo speaks volumes of his non-admission to the washroom. Cab mates share impromptu feedbacks and opinion from personal to professional life. The managers seldom appraised – orkut, mp3 and gadgets rule the arena of hot discussions. The Fm by now is blaring jarring numbers with perseverance. The outside world looks for opportunity to pounce inside due to lack of conveyance in and around. The Tavera or Sumo is as much his company as his friendly neighborhood dog.
A couple of hours and quick short naps the organization looks familiar. His second home. The stalls selling cancer sticks (cigarette) are already smiling and the ‘parathawala’ doesn’t mind to get geared up with his dallops of ghee and tawa. A quick smoke to burst stress is welcome and friends only add to your habit. Abbey prefers to join his ‘gang’ and relieve himself with crazy one liners. There are ones whom he seldom communicates to. Their process unlike his requires a grave yard shift.
The calling bay beckons him with a warm smile and the floor looks creative. Posters, inter team competitions, perks and instant gift vouchers entice the seasoned performers. The tenured ones have already ‘the hang of it’. His grey cells upload information to the customer as the clock ticks by. A few hours on - the mobile has long back dozed off. The cafeteria is already buzzing with a sealine of ‘youngistan’s’. The earphone is plugged in. The food isn’t a hit but the local vendor isn’t complaining. Outside the premises the street is clogged with by-stranders. The parking is a happening lot. So are the networking sites.
The day comes to an end with a huddle. The stress of the process requirements have taken a toll on him by now. The parking bay echoes human emotions specially the situations faced through the day. Peels of laughter and sarcasm give company. A passerby is amazed by the atmosphere and feels out of place because the kind of exuberance and enthusiasm exuded is brimming all over. Young India seems to be taking over the reins. BPO life looks promising and in. As Abbeys cab moves he bids adieu to his mates in person and catches the conversation with them on his mobile.
The cacophony, dim lites, potholes and a frenzy of erratic commuters don’t change his bio rhythm as he snuggly drops himself in a cozy corner. Way back home he wishes to may be attend a party or email his way to de stress. The shower ignored in the morning comes as a reprise. The day to follow hardly occupies his mind. His living space represents the transformation that Hindustan has undergone to become the ‘cool nex gen’ age. From Plasmas to gadgets, brands to unpaid invoices all brace his shelter. E power has taken over and his belief in himself comes from a unflagging attitude “Live and let Live ‘
Abbey one among million souls in this industry is already raking in the moolah and building on a vision for himself. The nation which was skeptical isn’t complaining either coz crores of revenue is what is strengthening our lifeline. Opening avenues to would be achievers who would have been otherwise been turned away by others in a world dominated by rat race, greed and power.

Monseiur,
Luv 2 read ur blog. As a matter of fact i always lyked ur responses and somewat i assumed before u stated. I dont know how it happens but wen u were doing KBC-II i found that u r very quite bored with the routine and u just got sick and i think its good thing that u left the show. As i prayed good for your health n ur family I worship ur on n off screen persona. And such kind of shows doesnt give space to breathe. Since a long time i have a question for you that i wanted 2 ask n if possible please answer me.My question is that its true that to survive in Indian film industries we need to do lots of commercial compromise but what i would like to ask you that what amitabh bachan as a actor preffer? I was lucky to have professor in neighbourhood. Though he is no more but his words still keep striking my ears time and again. He used to say “Sensitivity and tolerance are aging will pass away soon, you will grow up in the times of “who cares”".
Not to blame the media, end of the day they also go home cribbing “who cares”

Dear Mr Bachchan,
It is highly unlikely that my name rings a bell. I used to be in touch with you while I was reporting on India, Pakistan and Sri Lanka in the 1980s/1990s. I now live in Chicago and divide time between New York and Washington. I have been reporting on the US since 1998. It would be terrific to renew my contact with you.
Welcome to the blogosphere, the world without intermediaries.
Cheers and warm regards,

Dear Sir,
As always a very satisfying reading your blog..
You must have noticed in my last / before last comment [if by chance it was read because you have so much comments to read] was about the News we get from Media about you. When i said these News is Modified by Channels in their own interest; i mean the same As “News is what News Channels says happened.”
Good afternoon,

Hello Mr. Bachchan,
Yes you are absolutly right. News channels lost their ethics. They think it is their right to enter any bodies privacy, no matter whether a film star or an ordinary man. they air long bulletins of minor rape cases, family disturbances, and filmy gossips but most off the times failed provide justice to real news, which India should know, should aware of. now i found no difference between a prime time news story and an Ektaa Kapoor serial. By showing all these what example we are setting for our younger generation. How will they know about Indian tradition. These high drama’s in the media has reduced the media image to a road side cheap magazine about murder, theft and illegal relationships. What is more funny are the titles of such programs…… Gosh! they should learn some good Hindi….
I wish to see clean media with genuine news( not paparazzi ) which will help develop our beautiful country and not just give high TRP’s…….
Wish you and your family happiness and success…..
Warm Regards,
Kabita

your anguish is genuine. but there a few wolves in sheep skin who bring bad name to to entire community. It as fait accompli that there are exeptions every where but they should not be treated representatives of the community as a whole.
in dwapar yug there was rama as well as ravana. but one remembers this age by the name of rama.
it is the glasses that we wear that determine the color of the world that we see.
one must continue working selflessly with good intentions from the heart and soul and leave the rest to god. this highly philosophical a thought but that is the only way out as we cannot stop stray dogs from barking at us.

Media, Media and Media, a body which is responsible to present the fact truthfully, responsibly and exactly. But time and again this pertaining question is hunting u and it’s hunting most of as well. Why don’t they carry out their duty truthfully and sincerely? Only 1 thing comes in my mind that is they are faithful to someone else and not the general people as a whole. In this century, news is not what has happened, news is what media wants to cover and blow up with all sorts of spices.
Internet has changed everything and this internet revolution will make reporting much truthful and easier as well. What you have been doing is one of the use of that and m really glad.
When I was studying my Business Development course, my professor asked me about the hidden fact which has been wiped out from the history, the act that was carried out by British raj in South Asia. He asked us what it would have been in the report if that report was written by British people, or what it would have been if that was written by Hindu or Muslim or even a silk route traveller. At that time I realized how easily we buy in what media or any writers say about anyone. Now we have to realize that, and I did in the end it is upto us how to decrypt the fact that is out there. Writer will write but it is upto our consiousness to find out about a fact.
I really respect ur honesty and truthfulness. I hope u will always be a source of inspiration for most of us, although not all of us.

I cannot claim to be the torch bearer of Big B’s greatest fan on the planet but certainly can vouch for the enticing position of the most intense.
Your dignified presence and silence and the way you have brought up your kids have left an indelible mark on my prospective thoughts.
Opening avenues to would be achievers who would have be
