No location details.. nothing ! Happy ?! A few concerned friends were apprehensive about this for security reasons. I have complied.
I had a little more time than usual to look through the comments and am amazed at the rapidity of the responses and the complexities of their contents.
Whilst a majority are enjoying the humor and the retort on the Ramadoss matter, there are others that seriously differ with my thought. They are of the opinion that matters relating to smoking and drinking sequences on screen do indeed effect people, especially those vulnerable.
This debate could become interesting and long. People have different interpretations of the subject. I do not deny the strength of the medium and never was there any discussion on that, my wish was for the Minister to also look at other horizons as well. Singling out one community was not democratic.
I also have another view. Lets look at it in reverse. If the strength of the medium is so vociferously accepted, why draw attention only to the ‘bad’. Their is sufficient ‘good’ in our film as well. Where else in life do you attain poetic justice in 3 hours ! When we sit inside a cinema hall do we ever ask whether the person sitting next to us is a Hindu or a Muslim or a Sikh or a Christian, or what color or caste or creed he belongs to. But we all laugh at the same jokes, sing the same songs, cry at the same emotion. There are very few locations left in this world where under one roof such an integration prevails. We integrate. We do not separate. And if film is such a destructive medium, bringing with it all elements of disaster and the cause for it thereof, how does one explain the occurrence of shattering catastrophe, before the advent of Cinema.
Cinema after all is a 20th Century phenomena !
The most devastating violence in the country took place at the time of the partition in 1947, when Pakistan was formed. Which film propagated that ! The Bhagalpur blindings in Bihar by the police in prison has been described as the most ghastly human violence. Which film propagated that ! And.. which film did our forefathers get influenced by, to start smoking and drinking !
I am not deliberately trying to win argument. I am wanting a rational balanced outlook. I am not comfortable with the Film Industry and its occupants to be made solely responsible for every wrong in society.
There have been reactions to the ‘outsider’ attacks again. Some compassionate and guarded. Some not. Some polite, others not so polite.
ANON addresses me as a ‘puny scared coward’, a ‘chhakka’ for not admonishing and fighting for the oppressed ‘bhaiya’. And pandering to those that attack them. He feels I am a disgraced bhaiya Amitabh Srivastava, born to that tabela bhaiya Harivansh Rai Srivastava.
Your anonymous demeanor Mr ANON, amply demonstrates, I am afraid, your own cowardice sir, of not having pride in your own father. Nothing unusual. When you pay scant respect to him that I was born to, it is unlikely that you would want to respect him, that gave birth to you. You may have your own legitimate or illegitimate reasons for it !!
I have through an interview with Anil Thakraney in the Mumbai Mirror spoken extensively and with some finality on the issue. It does not deserve any more. I shall attach it for your reference again and for the reference of those that may have missed it.
CUPID, questions my relationship with Bala Saheb and why I did not stand up for her Baba, Sanju when he went to jail. I think this response should be sought from the gentlemen concerned. Ask them. Or if you have no access, write to me, to them. I shall get you an answer.
There is endless support too from Kanal and Pankaj Gupta and Satyam who writes well. “Respect should not be ‘owed’ to anyone because of age or seniority, it should be earned “.
There is Seema and Alpesh Shah who show concern and support. Madhukar Pandey feels my penchant for putting denials constantly on the blog is deliberately done to keep it looking interesting. Maybe some of you could enlighten him on this. Or me.
Vikram Jit, I note your point on enemies reading the blog too and its subsequent repercussions. And BICHAR I am so glad that I can bring a smile to your face. Thank you.
JOY RANA, thank you for your frank confession that you are not my fan, but that you recognize me as a power to reckon with !! Hmm… Wait till you see the ‘power’ of Sarkar Raj !! And Nilesh Mishra, still questions my guest list for the marriage of Abhi-Ash. Dude ! Its over now, a year has gone by, those that should have been there were there. Matter over, move on !
ZINEB, I love you too !
And NOBAB MUNNA from Chittagong, Bangladesh, kaymon accho !!
AVINASH, is cynical still on my land matter. You do not have to. Let the judgement come, I shall spend an entire chapter on it for you. Promise !!
VINITA DESHMUKH is upset. She enjoyed watching the Charles-Diana wedding and is furious that we did not allow the media access to Abhi-Ash wedding for her viewing pleasure.
My dearest, C-D are/were Royalty. They rule. It would be mandatory for them to publicly present themselves. Not A-A !! For your enjoyment I must offer to open up my house ?? I think not.
Oh ! And I have another delightful piece of information.
My father’s all time classic ‘Madhushala’ was translated for the first time in Marathi. And three subsequent translations were all done in Marathi ! Would this honor be considered as an ‘inside’ or an ‘outside’ job !!
My love and more -
Amitabh Bachchan

Honored sir,
I have been attempting to respond to you, in an effort to help you with writing Hindi on the blog. Apple makes it very easy to do this on the Mac, and I would be honored to provide simple instruction.
I have written several times, but for some reason, my comments never make it onto the blog. I don’t know the problem? I will save my other thoughts for another time, as I want to try to get through to you on helping with the languages and writing issues. I have been using both Mac and Windows computers for years.
Blessings and wishes for continued good health and all the best,

Dear Amitabh, I am writing from Toronto, and thought I would bring to your attention that we are about the celebrate the birthday of another great poet on May 9: Rabindranath Tagore. I read a while ago that you were working on a project to popularise his work outside Bengal. As a Bangali, I commend you for that. Bhalo thakben.

hello once again. just to remind you, i was shweta’s french teacher for a short while when she was expecting navya neveli.
i totally agree with you on our most unworthy so-called health minister. I find him most useless and i honestly feel that he is there only for nuisance value. He is from the same part of the country as i am and most unfortunately so. I would most gladly disown him. This unworthy man moves from one controversy to another, all self-created of course so as to garner some media attention and other kinds of attention from powerful people as well as the comon man and as you rightly said he is yet to attend to most pressing issues meanwhile. Most disgusting. I feel outraged as a citizen of this country, a law abiding citizen and a tax payer at that. We can surely do without these jokers!!!!
wish some honest youngsters and others not so young would consider stepping into the political arena, we desperately need that!!
I fully understand how you feel strongly about issues and raise your voice against it because I am just like you in this respect, in my case I do even if it doesnt even remotely concern me because i feel that we should be humanists first and individuals later. i also feel strongly about animals so i should include animals since humanism seems seen superficially to exclude these so-called lesser beings.
what about creative freedom? If a story demands it how can one deprive this freedom of expression on screen? even if the story does not demand it, don’t people drink? in any case i am of the opinion that the more one censures more is the likelihood of the problem getting aggravated and clandestine and illegal and so on and so forth.
So do please carry on. There are many like-minded people who will always support you.
Regards,
Padma

interesting what you say about the following
When we sit inside a cinema hall do we ever ask whether the person sitting next to us is a Hindu or a Muslim or a Sikh or a Christian, or what color or caste or creed he belongs to. But we all laugh at the same jokes, sing the same songs, cry at the same emotion. There are very few locations left in this world where under one roof such an integration prevails. We integrate. On the one hand, its sad that this is one of the few forums where people can be united as one, but on the other hand, at least there is a forum to be able to sit side by side with others and not be judgemental!

I am glad you continue you to defend yourself and responding to issues such as Mr Ramdoss comments. I think it is starting to get repetitive though with the Abhi-Ash and being a private affair. I personally would have loved to be at the wedding sitting in front of everyone witnessing the happenings, but its not my life and has nothing to do with me personally, only as a fan. I think you have cleared this matter on various occasions. On on another note, I would like to be very frank and outright. I like a hundred other people have wanted to contact you regarding various issues, mine being a script. Of course its not as easy you allowing 300 to show up to your door and give them all proper time, nor have most of done anything to deserve it. But I do believe that you should have someone to look at ALL the scripts and materials that come your way. Mr Jain and Trivedi must have their full with all the scripts that come from bigger names or through better contacts. Ill volunteer for the job! But in all seriousness, I would like to know how to properly be able to get a script into your hands or narrated to someone in your office. People complain of the lack of fresh scripts, part of the problem is that fresh scripts have a hard time making it to the upper echelons of decision makers. There are a high percentage of bad scripts out there, so it become harder for anyone to find that diamond in the rough. I think you can see it it something Mr Doshi has been able to do pretty well, and hopefully you can open some sort of access to help usher in a newer pasture of thoughts!

Dear Sir,
I hope you read the following :
I in my previous and first response to ur column have mentioned that am in awe of ur writing i truly am sir and more I go through ur columns the more my respect for you grows……
Ur respect for your family and ur friends I believe are the biggest strenghts u possess……I believe friends are those who have been with u in ur bad as well as good times. If people are good to u then why not we also be good to them it doesn’t matters what others think….
Some people try to just put the burden of some misdeeds or to blame a certain community for some mishappenings like Mr. Ramadoss dis to the film fraternity. Yes I agree that films lay a great impact on people’s life but then its not always bad only…..These politicians they beave like a true hipocrits for ex. these banning the cheerleaders issue….. unnecessary they are wasting their time and energy on such petty things when they can do a lot better to the country and their ownself if they invest it somewhere which deserves true attention….on this context it might be strengthening the internet laws to reduce the crime growing through the same….
We really get an insight on what you think sir by reading ur blog….Please do keep posting…..
Awaiting your next post…..

Dear Mr.Bachchan,
A re-post from yesterday because, like everyone else, I would love to get a response from you
Regards again from your biggest fan. I hope all is going well and the next few months should be quite busy, with the release of Bhoothnath, followed by Sarkar Raj and then of course, The Unforgettable Tour. I am super-excited about the upcoming summer ! I think it’s about time that we get some clear confirmations with regards to the concert. Precisely who is going to be joining you on stage (in Toronto, where I will be having the pleasure of seeing you at the Rogers Centre on July 18) ? While I agree that anytime the line-up features the Big B, nothing else matters, uncertainty just hinders the excitement and momentum of a grand tour that is just a couple of months away. Also, over the years, you have had your trademark mere angane mein song for which you call up ladies on stage to dance with you. While that is indeed appropriate for the song, I too want to come on the stage and have the experience of dancing with ‘Amitabh Bachchan.’ Please do try to somehow incorporate that for your greatest fan who will undoubtedly be in the first few rows at the Rogers Centre on July 18th.
All the best !

Was a bit uncomfortable with your “minding” of remarks like ‘puny scared coward’ made by some mooncalf’s. You will often see such posts here, this being an open forum. Suggets you to ignore such remarks which in turn will discourage such indociles from coming to your blog space and in turn prevail sacredness of this space.

Dear Sir,
I am really inspired by your time-management and the regularity you maintain in writing the blog. It is simply awe-inspiring and a tonic for youngsters like me and they just create this spark in our minds that ” When ABji could do it at this age and for the body of work he does, why is it that we guys don not even manage to perform well in one single field?”. I do not mean to say that I am a total failure, but then to achieve excellence in whatever you do, is there a code of conduct? If so, can you please guide us about how one could reach your level of excellence in the pursued field, irrespective of what it is….?
Keep rocking the way you do now…..
Thanks for the importance you give too us fans….
My prayers for your well-being.

Hi Sir,
Well, this is the first time that Iam writing to any celebrity, and it feels great that technology has given me an oppurtunity to reachout to one of the greatest actors of the world.
I saw your interview on NDTV and it inspired me to congatulate you. It was one of the best ones that you have given in the recent years…you were candid, straightforward and what I like the best was the no-fear attitude.
Its time you gave it back to the media, they should learn to draw some lines.
Neways, felt that I should convey that you ROCK!!!
Also want to tell you that three years ago I was going throgh a very low phse of my life and at that point a freind gave me the book ‘Amitabh Bachchan’ written by Bhawan Somaaya. It really inspired me to fight back…I felt that if you could go through a bad phase and rise like a phoenix, then maybe even I could give it a shot. It worked…and its true that you inspired me to rise. Thanks Sir.
Best of luck.
I hope that you live a happy, healthy and long live.
You are the BEST and I really respect you.

Dear Amitji,
You have really tekn to this medium like duck to water. Your writing skills are exemplary. Hope the journos take a page of this and improve there reporting. It is a pertinent question you raise. The ethics in journalism are being compromised to market forces.
But the fact that your blog is getting so many hits might just open the eyes of the media that there is yet space for quality. It also may inspire other equally accomplished persons to use this to reach their voice to masses. I think with your quality of writing you are proving to be a master of another form of media. Is there anything else that you are going to surprise us with Mr Bachchan? An earlier stated wish to have you try the theatre may well prove to be another milestone.

(i thought ill write to you again)
My Dearest, My Beloved Amitabh Bachchan Ji,
A very very warm good morning to you. Hope God keeps you in the best of health and showers you and your family with all the happiness from the heavens and above.
Everyday I write to you in the blog. Everyday I withhold my strongest feelings towards you as I don’t want all the world to see and read what I feel. Everyday I want to open my heart to you.
I’ve always been against the notion of writing to you. Not because I love you any less but because I believe the most dearest and strongest feelings in life are kept for the heart only. Once out then the illumination slowly tends to fade. However this could be rightly argued in the sense that once in a while its good to tell the one you love how much you love them, for example a mother should always be told how much she is loved by her offspring, not to mention the Mrs who without hearing the three words makes life extremely awkward.
But that is not why I am writing to you after 26 years of knowing you and you only. Like you said in Trishul, I think the time has come to convey to you the deepest fondness reserved for you.
Mr Bachchan can you encapsulate the moment when a small child who barely knows his left ear from his right sees this grand figure dressed in red jumping here there and everywhere?
My hands are not allowing me to express what I want to deliver as I think words are an inadequate means for interpreting the language of the heart. However instead of packing up and giving up I feel that you ought to know as you are the one that has influenced me throughout my life.
Now, going back to the small child above, Mr Bachchan as you rightly guessed, im talking about your character in Naseeb. Believe it or not Bachchanji that song is the first memory I can remember of my childhood. Before I realised I have one nose, two ears, that’s my mom that’s my dad etc etc I knew that this is SOMEONE.
For years I’ve been asked by people ‘if you love him so much then why don’t you write to him’. My answer has been the same to everyone. I don’t need Amitabh Bachchan to know that I love him. My love doesn’t need Amitabh Bachchan’s acknowledgment so as to confirm that it exists. For my love is beyond that. Beyond what anyone can comprehend. My love is unconditional to the extent that even the one that is loved doesn’t know that he is loved. My love is a selfish one which consumes every iota of my existence. Write to Amitabh Bachchan they say, I need to get out of the ‘world’ that is Amitabh Bachchan first.
However, after reading a blogger’s response namely, I think, Mansoor Panchgani I realised life can just finish tomorrow even right now. So Im going to open a bit of my heart today.
Today I will solely talk about the best moment of my life. The day when all beauty was given to me. The day my whole world stood still. The day my prayers came true. The day God blessed me with abundance upon abundance. The day my heart stopped beating. The day when all barriers were removed. The day my Beloved was right in front of me. The day when I met YOU.
Bachchan Ji I have firm faith that you remember this day too. Let’s see if you do. The year was 2002 just after your 60th birthday. The place was Manchester, UK. The event was the book launch of TO BE OR NOT TO BE- AMITABH BACHCHAN at the Trafford Shopping Centre.
You were there with the graceful Jaya Ji. There were hundreds of your fans waiting to get their book signed from you. Hundreds more came just to see their childhood Hero. Little did I know what was in store for me.
I joined the queue of fans waiting to see you. The closer my turn came the faster my heart was beating. My legs were shaking, my whole body was trembling. I had an idea what I wanted to talk about with you but it all disappeared the moment I saw my Beloved.
I could actually hear my heart thumping and my breathing increased with such deepness. Never before have I been in that state. The adrenalin level was greater than after taking ecstasy. I live my life in a trance where there is only You. How was I then to cope with my Everything right in front of me.
Then came my turn.
The rest was a BIG BIG BIG blur. To this day I don’t know what happened to me. I don’t know what I said, what I heard, what I did. Nothing! It’s like the moment that all time stops. There is no thought whatsoever of anything in the head. It’s a big blank. Total bliss. Natural bliss. Utterly heavenly. THANK GOD FOR MY FRIEND WHO HAD EVERYTHING ON CAMERA.
Now what happened next was the epitome of my life. The moment in which I lived all my life in the space of that one moment. The moment I achieved everything I ever wanted. Im getting goosebumps whilst writing this. It feels like that moment again. The moment I was one with my Beloved. I in my humblest plea asked you to hug me. The saying that when the Almighty gives, he truly GIVES is extremely valid here.
You got up not caring in the world that you are AMITABH BACHCHAN and hugged this boy who has only ever loved you. I buried my head between your shoulder and neck. I cried. I cried and cried. I cried whilst kissing your neck. I told you ‘Amitabh, I Love You, I Love You, I Love You.’ At that moment you put your other arm around me. I was one with you. Our souls had finally met. I hugged my Beloved. I buried my head deeper and deeper. I didn’t want to let go. People take drugs to escape to another world. There isn’t a bigger drug than hugging you Mr Bachchan. Did I escape or DID I escape? Being lost in you is my biggest achievement. No more regrets with life after that. No more aspirations. No more ambitions. For I got what millions and millions of your fans desire everyday of their lives. AmitJi you made my whole dreams come true in one go. I don’t even regret the hug being over. For the intensity is still embedded within me each time I think about it or watch it on film (as my mate recorded everything).
I still remember how the crowd erupted when you got up to hug me. Alas, my time was over, the people in the queue were waiting. I had to let go of you. I could clearly see the emotion in your eyes. Its evident in the film, some day I shall send it to you. I disappeared onto the balcony and could see you from above. People around me started singing ‘yeh dosti’. At that moment another special thing happened (sadly I don’t have that on tape as I wasn’t expecting it). You looked up at me pointed with your index finger with the thumb up making a gun gesture and nodded at me. I could have dropped dead at that moment. Too much affection in a space of a few minutes.
I have literally grown up watching you. As a kid when I used to cry my mum used to put your film on to make me quiet. I used to enact your roles at school and get told off by teachers. I have all your films as my prized collection. At least three times a week I have a dreams about you. In my dreams I’ve acted alongside you in the song ‘khaike paan banaraswala’. Ive driven you around. Endless chapters. Endless stories. I could write a book. One day I will. Now can you comprehend what must have gone through me when I hugged THE AMITABH BACHCHAN. In person. Touched you. Heart to heart. Beyond belief. No words can do justice so I think ill stop there.
(To this day I don’t know how I dared calling you by your first name and not ‘Ji’ or Sahib’ in front. I realised much later that when true love meets at a higher plain, there is no room for formalities. But I hope you have forgiven me for that)
WOW!!! Trust me, everyone including You Bachchan Ji, that was the most incredible, most truthful, most life-defining moment of my life. I can go on and on but then I wont be giving enough time to ‘The Trance’ in which I swirl and swirl and swirl in the thought of Amitabh Bachchan.
Thank you Bachchan Ji for allowing this non-entity to come that close to you. Thank you for coming into my life. Thank you for being with me since I was a tiny baby (now I’m 6”2). Thank you for being there (through your films) each time when I’m at my lowest. Thank you for letting me love you. Thank you for keeping me upbeat when im surrounded by negativity. Thank you for inspiring me by following in the footsteps of your illustrious journey of life. Thank you, Amit Ji, for hugging me that day. Thank you for everything.
One song which captivates what I want to say and feel. One song which I listen to every hour every day. One song in which the thought is only of you.
Tum se kitna pyar hai dil mein uthar kar dekh lo
Na yakeen aye to phir dil badal kar dekh lo
Hum ne apni har saans par naam tera likh diya
Ik tujhe pane ki khatir khud ko pagal kar diya
Na yakeen aye to phir dil badal kar dekh lo
You should listen to it too.
With all my love and affection

Dear Mr. Bachchan,
I thoroughly enjoy your blog. I do understand your and other viewers concern for security and thus removal of location details. But I enjoyed to follow where a great person like you travelled and lived at different time in different time zones. No big deal if it is not there but I’ll miss the detail.
Another thing, it seems that some of the Television channels are more concerned about your blog than other news items and extensively quote you form the blog for various issues - do you think this is going to create a barrier between you and the media, as they no longer need you in person to get your response. They can get it from your blog anyway. What are your thoughts on this.
No matter what you say about various issues and whether we agree with your views or not, we will always love you.
Thanks and have a wonderful day,
Ash

pyare amit uncle,
i find the whole ramadoss matter a bit too amusing the guy has lost his senses,i mean hes telling saif not to eat chips, wats his problem who eats wat,
i don believe tat any particular human should let himself get influnced by watching wat his hero does on screen, if any message the minister needs to pass it should be that of encouraging people to choose rather then letting their choices getting influenced, if the constitution recognises 18 years the age when an individual can make a political choice it goes without saying that he can make other choices as well for himself, i am sure the present generation is smart enough to make its own choices rather than let saif or srk or any other hero influence them……
and still if mr ramadoss has major concerns of our health then why doesn he get cigretts n alcohol banned??????? like in gujarat where its illegal to sell alcohol??????? hmmm let me guess revenue for government or his pocket maybe who knows????
i am a student of loyola college one of the best colleges in the country n i move around in different circles, meet people n wat i have noticed is that one takes up alcohol n smoking due to peer pressure or some tension or problem maybe, n not becuase srk or john do it, so in my view insted of asking bollywood to do things the minister himself should do more to educate people against smoking n drinking through advertisement n stuff like that… i remember seeing adds about ill effects of smoking but that was a while back its all stopped now..
n ya some one needs to spy on that guy i am sure at some point or other he also consumes some junk food or something, mr minister pls pls leave bollywood alone n let them make a living n pls do your job well i am sure that will be a great step if u actually work more n talk less mr ramadoss……
amit uncle apni tabiyat ka kripya khayal rakiye ga
loads of love

sound a little irritated / upset Mr Bachchan… Bad day?
You are absolutely right… cinema has a power but everybody has his own mind -f.e me, i’ve never smoked however i’m still watching movies where actors smoke. Film Industry isnt responsible for every wrong in society. People are responsible for their own life, for their children upbringing/education…

Just didnt feel great when heard raj thakrey’s comments on your integrity. Wat has he done for maharashtra or say mumbai except breaking from his own family and making a new senseless political outfit. How can such an irresponsible marathi manus decide about who is native and who is outsider. I know for a fact even if u move out of mumbai and so does other artists and technicians(as most of them are outsiders) bollywood wud shift where u live. We all shud condemn raj’s thoughts and shud send him to vidharbha to fight for the farmers plight which is more important than the insider outsider game.

Your probably going to get bored of me now, I frankly do not care as I am writing to the one I love and it feels so so so good!!!
My dearest AmitJi,
First of all I think you SHUD write where you are as it gives us a vague idea where our JAAN is. BUt security comes first….you can say any place though…it’l keep us imagining. Soemtimes its humorous as well. Like the Bangkok Hotel…’Majesty Suite’….THAT WAS FUNNY…..you have a very good sense of humour.
Secondly I ‘reported abuse’ from ANON, looks like it wasnt deleted….BIGADDA do your job properly please!!!
‘And Nilesh Mishra, still questions my guest list for the marriage of Abhi-Ash. Dude ! Its over now, a year has gone by, those that should have been there were there. Matter over, move on !’……Now this is comedy!!!
Lastly AmitJi, being from Pakistani origin growing up in UK, I am not that good in the Hindi language (the hindi i know is derived from films)…therefore do you know if your fathers work Madhushala is translated in English or not?? as i would love to read it.
im goin now, wont do your head in no more

Hi AB (don’t know what to call an idol as I have never met one - so I’m taking the easiest way out)! I’m Angshuman from Kolkata. Contrary to Rahul above, I somehow think this blogger sounds like quite like the AB in personal life that I have tried to figure out from following you since I watched Aakhri Raasta. Fiercely defensive of your family, sincerely trying to be nice to your fans, not too open on certain issues but very open on others, letting everyone know what they can expect from you and what they should not, and above all not letting anyone abuse you anonymously and get away with it.
The AB blogging here is quite different from the person we see on interviews - as that person on TV / mag has to be wary of the medium in between the speaker and the listener. Here the same person is much more relaxed and free - he knows he is on direct line with the listeners and is thus willing to take the bouquets and brickbats he gets for words he is directly responsible for. I guess this is the way AB behaves with people he knows. If that is rude (mainly because the tongue firmly in cheek is not on view) then so be it. All bloggers are blogging to pour their hearts out, not to fulfill an obligation.
But AB, I think you will get tired of all this soon and try a moderation for the abuses that will increase day by day. It will be quite understandable if you do. However if after a year I see that you still let all comments (good and stinking) get posted - I’ll salute you boss.
I had read an interview of yours years ago, where you had come close to letting your heart out on the period in hosp after the accident. The part about your room mate disappearing one fine day and the nurse saying ‘woh to mar gaya’ matter of factly. Why don’t you make a post on that one? We have had enough of defending - your genuine fans are hardly bothered by Mayavatis and Raj Thaks. Of course it is your blog but here’s my request: we would love some more personal pieces - reminiscences, interesting anecdotes, your idols.
Of course the blog is only a few days old and it will evolve. Waiting to see more.
Cheers
Angshuman

Respected Shri Amitabh Bachchan ji,
Im Kiran STS,from Hyderabad..and I have been a great fan of yours..Honestly speaking, Im just 21 years old..and the only old movies I watched are all yours and I absolutely loved them all..
Abhishek has got a great career ahead of him and i wish him all the success..Films are only a matter of Luck and good scripts coming to you..he will get back on top..
Personally, I was very miffed watching the recent award ceremonies..GURU not fetching awards for Abhishek and Aishwarya????? Both were equally magnificient and enough praise has been showered on them..Filmfare awards 2008 is a blot on their history..it shows star power and performing on stage fetch you awards..Darsheel Safary getting the award was fine..ShahRukh was good in ChakDe..but with all due respect to him..He was noweher near compared to Abhi’s performance in GURU..and Itz high time people stop gazing at Ashz beauty and notice her acting prowess..By the time those jury members got enough of Ash’s beauty, i think the show was over and thats why i think they dint notice her performance..Huh..Itz frustrating to say the least//
And yes Sir..Congratulations for getting the most suitable bahu in India..Im the biggest fan of Ash and I respect her for her dignity and integrity..With her beauty, she could have had the world at her feet..But, she chose her parent’s pride and dignity to superstardom and may be many more films with SRK etc etc..Had she succumbed, she could have been the number 1 actress ..But she wouldnt have been the wonderful human being that shw is today..YOUr GRANDCHILDREN will be proud to say their mom got to the top with her dignity in tact..Coz’ in the current times..unless you are a star-kid, or you succumb to the whims and fancies of the producers/directors you cannot reach the top..I cant believe there are actresses who break marriages and relationshipd to saty in their so called ” CAMP “..So, itz refreshing to have someone like and Aishwarya rai - Bachchan..with her dignity..
And Jaya aunty is awesome..She too sacrficed her career for the upbringing of Abhi and Shwetha ji..And today Sir, If you are proud of looking at your kids - most of the credit Im afraid shoudl go to Jaya ji..
OK, Got to get back to work now..even though itz a sunday :(…
YOUR FAMILY IS AN INSPIRATION TO PEOPLE OF ALL GENERATIONS AND IM SURE ASH WILL CARRY FORWARD D LEGACY..
BUT THE CUTEST IN YOUR FAMILY HAS 2 BE YOUR GANDSON AGASTHYA…I HOPE HE WOULD BE THE NEXT SUPERSTAR..
Happy Bloggin Sir, I hope you read this small article from me..
ofcourse, you might be receiving 1000z and itz quite possible you may miss mine..But i can only pray you read this./..i just want 2 convey my opinion about your family..

Satsriakal Amit Uncle
I hope you are doing well and feeling great.
I am Harrisham Minhas, 21 year old female from Jaladhar City of Punjab.
The meaning of my name is “divine light”
(Har= God, Risham= Light.)
I have been your fan ever since I was a small child. We used to have a video cassette of “Muqadar Ka Sikandar” at home and I used to watch it everyday to watch you on the screen.

At that time, I could not even speak your name correctly.
I used to call you “Taa Bachchan”.
Now when I talk about you, I refer to you as “Amit Uncle”.
I think its great that you have started your own blog, as people can interact with you and get to know about your day’s prominent proceedings, your current works and your thoughts on various issues.
Your writings are very interesting and informative and reflect your mature thoughts and your life’s experiences.
Its wonderful that you do not let age be an excuse.
You work so tirelessly and you are so cool in your attitude, you grow with changing times, along with maintaining your beliefs.
I like many of your movies, from which “Amar Akbar Anthony” and “Black” are amongst the best.
I think people who are famous can definitely help in bringing up issues and causes. The work that you are doing to eradicate polio and the messages that you give about issues such as female infanticide, etc. reach to millions and would certainly leave an impact.
I am looking forward to watching Bhoothnath.
I write poetry. I have a collection of poems, which I am planning to get published soon.
(At times I also write till late at night, when I cannot sleep until I finish a certain poem.)
A poem I wrote for our soldiers:
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Checkmate
Gallant Indians at the forefront
grace our nation’s borders,
warding our motherland
from those perfidious foreigners,
who envying India’s exquisite glory,
try to lay their evil sight
on our nurtured lands.
In turn, enemies are crushed off,
while the remaining run away
to their bills, as scared ants,
having to ingest
bitter mud of defeat.
Vanquishing all evils,
our soldiers rejoice!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I have a deep respect for our soldiers and I want that more and more people should realize their importance. They should not be remembered only during war times, but we should be grateful to them everyday as they make it possible for us to live freely.
We do not initiate wars, but we have to protect our beautiful motherland at all times, and our soldiers do this so patriotically.
Hope to hear back from you.
Take care Amit Uncle!

Very Dear & Respected Sir
Watched you with Barkha Dutt on NDTV. Though earlier too you have been candid number of times in your comments ( i am an avid viewer of you on any talk show) but this time all your replies were rapped with a tone which is very unusual to Mr. Bachchan. You were sounding too defensive and that’s certainly not required to an icon like you!!!
We as a nation loves you and trust you first as a good human being and a son of a legend ( i respect your father more) who could inculcate a value system , which can not be questioned by anyone.
So from bofors to Abhishekji’s marriage or your comments on our very concerned Ramadossji, i feel whatever you did was very contemplative and correct.
So never be defensive…..
With all the good wishes to you and your family.

Sir, my father is close to ur age and i about the age of ur son. My dad’s still active at work, is a executive director of an export house..
Sir,as an actor with a fantastic resume.. when u look back at ur movies on DVD or while surfing the channels.. has the thought that i should have done this scene better crossed ur mind.. also on a deep contrast here are , and u’d agree with me on this many things that u physically find it difficult to do on screen that u’d so effortlessly done in late 70’s .
so on 1 hand u realise that u’d have done the scene better today with experience and growth as an actor and at the same time does that anger, irritate or upset u.. when on the shooting spot u realise that u r unable physically to make a body movement in a dance or in a stunt and when the director changes it to a simpler step.
My dad… gets extremely annoyed when i’d ask him not to drive at nights.. or when i’d say dad.. take t easy at work. i often use tact.. but now that dosent seem to work so i just leave it to him to decide.

Hello Mr. Bachchan Let me Introduce myself to you first.Sir i am your fan from Patna and came to know about your blog by watching a report on an English News Channel tonite in which you had commented over the thoughts of our Honourable Union Health Minister seeking removal of scenes of harmful products from movies.As far as your comment is concerned i would like to know that sir on what basis you commented on his remark…I just read your views about the same…but sir will it not be right that we should allow the government to do their Job…i mean If you aware than recently there was a report released in which it was Warned to our Country that if the consumption of Cigarette and alcahol is not brought to a lower level than the teenagers of india will suffer the consequences of the same…A study in UK stated that The consumption is increasing rapidly in teenagers of India…which is itself a matter of concern..so sir i would at last like to know that what is the harm if these scenes get removed because the teenagers get very much facinated by it…and they take it as Pride why because their favourite Star is doing the Same…now I would like to know your views that what should be done in this case!!!
With Warm Regards

Dear Mr. Bachchan,
Namaste. Yea sure…we are always waiting for your posts, refreshing the page every now and then, hoping to find a post from you. Reading your posts is enlightening….because, besides giving your opinion and responses to different matters and events, you enlighten us about you, as a person, about your philosophy in life, and your working of mind. Please keep it up.
Actually, cinema and films might not be responsible 100% for the propagation of negative practices. the point is that…each society has its own negative attitudes, and negative practices, of which it wants to get rid of…if cinema is a medium that has such an effect on people, why not using it to address these negative behaviours, and eradicate them. you have done this in your movies Mr. Bachchan…in movies like Baghban you showed values of familial relationship, in Dev you addressed issues between Hindus and Muslims, and in Dewaar you addressed issues between India and Pakistan…. that me, as an outsider to India, got to know more about internal situations in India. In Black, Nishabd, Sarkar, you addressed universal human values. through out your films you propagate for different values, bravery, justice, love, modesty, and others….that’s the point…using the most effective medium… in a positive way. negative effects might come unconsiously…but positive ones, i belive, come with intentions.
that’s what i think…at last i want to say..it was nice of you mentioning some of the comments…it is amazing connecting with you Mr. Bachchan.
sending you a message of respect and love, that transcends barriers of time and place.
with love,

Dear Mr Amitabh,
I am writing this from New Jesrey, USA where I have been based. I read with great interest all your Blogs from Day 1 onwards. I am a great fan of yours and your movies have provided me with wholesome entertainment and wisdom.
( esp, when I was homesick when I arrived in the US during the late 80s).
You life serves as inspiration to me, considering the lows that you experienced during the early 90s ( when ABCL was running in losses) and your phenomenal comeback. I am also amzed by your energy and enthusiasm.
Cinema has been a powerful and influential media, some of the ex-CMs in TamilNadu and Andhra were from the file industry. As you correctly point out, there are a number of positive messages that have been reinforced through Cinema.
I hope I get to meet you someday. I remember once when you had come to Edison,NJ during Navaratri/Garba celebrations.

Kudos Mr. Bachchan.
Being from Allahabad I have been your fan since forever. However there did come a phase when the choice of your films degraded, and you lost the place of credence in my heart ( I talk about the likes of Ajooba and Jadugar). You won me back in the last few years and I just loved Cheeni Kum - No doubt you are called the Shahensha of Bollywood coz no other actor gets tailor made roles at 65 in Bollywood….
Yes your affiliation to Mr Singh (Amar and Mulayam) does irk a lot many of us (Totally your personal matter - but guess since we UPites as a group dislike them but love you - it transcends the boundaries ). I have always been an admirer of your amazing command on both written and spoken english and hindi, however the whole Ash Abhi episode ( over and out - done and dusted) and then related comments from you as presented by the media made us feel that the feel of power and money has finally turned the humble Chora Ganga Kinare wala into a snooty Upper class Mumbaite…
But honestly having followed your blogs just love them….. Nice to know you are still humane!!!
Keep up your witty self and lets not get sarcastic with your blog critics. Coz critics tell you what you can do better- Am I right? There is a Hindi saying ” Nindak neeire rakhiye aangan kuti chabai”…. I love your one liners and the twists of words…
Keep up the good work on the Blog and your Choice of roles.
Good Luck , God Bless and Good Health

Namskar!
One thought I want to share with you most sincerely.
Would you please share with us minimum two lines from the great work of your father or what you remember from him in each of your post? There is a lot of thought behind this request to you.
I know you are already doing this in most of your posts. Need not to tell but it will accomplish so many things, and you know it. And you can actually post those line in Hindi itself. It is easy.
To share with you, we had all his books in our house. My beloved grandmonther who just left us at the age of 95 was ‘Hindi Sahitya Ratna’. She was very fond of his poetry.
And my father in law had published the Marathi translation of your father and the great poet Harivanshrai Bachchan’s autobiography (part 4 - ‘Dashdwar se Sopan tuk’). This also includes the small poem you have created during the stay in Breach Candy which he shared. And also needless to say our family is great fan of Bachchan families acting skills.
We are proud of you!
I will end with a quote by him in ‘Dashdwar se Sopan tuk’ from Hamlet.
…Sent to my account
With all my imperfections on my head
Take care!

Dear sir, I remember shaking hands with you in republic day parade long long ago. I don’t remember the year but I was in grade 4 that time. Kurta payjama and a shawl across the shoulder used to be your favorite dress at that time. You kept asking me, “what’s your name?” and you repeated thrice. But I couldn’t reply. How could I? I experienced that day how the time suddenly stops, everything turns in to slow-motion. It was the biggest possible moment until that day for a small town kid like me. Thanks to this medium that I can interact with you today.
It’s a time leap really. I am a painter and actor today and look at you differently. The way you must be managing time to do so many things is inspirational. You may differ on this but I believe your name is and has been the biggest brand in India for last decade or two. You couldn’t handle politics and that’s sad because the country needs leaders who can unite people across the castes and religious bounds. Nothing better than the name ‘Amitabh Bachchan’. Today if you look at politics, there is no way you can make a mark unless you can create a niche for yourself and that’s easiest done through dividing people across all possible groups and try and keep them separate. You may disagree and say there is possibility. But look around, isn’t the same thing happening around you in the very city? In the very state? As a politician it would take one a lifetime of work to gather as much following and the same number can be gathered through dividing people and that too quite quick. The reason is they are trying to build a brand, they are trying to get recognition through hook or by crook. We need leaders who are honest, well informed, and the ones who don’t need to build wealth through corruption. We need brands in politics who can unite people across all the groups and right now we have none. Anyway you know when you talk, people listen and that’s a huge power that most of our political leaders don’t have. I would urge you sir to use this power as much as you can in the service of our beloved nation.
Wonderful to hear your not so politically correct voice on your blog. Finally I think you have realized you can’t keep everyone happy, so it’s better to try and work towards the happiness of self and the family, even that is a good achievement, isn’t it? Would wait for your thoughts on this. Meanwhile please view my works(paintings) on my blog.

Dear Mr. Bachchan,
I live in Los Angeles, and am a recent Aishwarya fan. I’m not an NRI, I’m African-American. I’m only just beginning to learn about the Indian Film industry, and the other members/actors besides Ash. And I came to know about your blog from one website or another.
I’ve been reading your blog since the very first day it went online. And I simply LOVE it! Today’s post is my favorite one so far, for reasons I won’t elaborate on. Other than I really enjoy how you say exactly what’s on your mind! Very fun to read!!
Next weekend I will be going to see my first Amitabh Bachchan film, here in Los Angeles, Bhoothnath. I’m really, really looking forward to it. I also plan to attend your “Unforgettable” concert, if it stops here in LA. Best wishes to you and your family. And I also wish you continued success, fun and fulfillment with your blog!!

SirG,
It gives me a sigh of relief to see you read our reactions and comments in peace. Your talking to each one of us in your own way is like counseling coming from your well earned wisdom and practice of good deeds. I wonder many a times by thanking GOD and other friends and opportunities and family we actually take away your personal contribution and amount of self suffering you have done to be what you are now.(No offense to them I am just making a point).
I fore see a new and bigger role that you can take may be of teaching.I don’t expect that you will ever find time out of your commitments you have already made. A blog is making a way for you it seems in this direction. Your desire to share your learning(Gyan) is so very high that which can only come when there’s an atmosphere to free words and will, and not when your every word is scanned. I am not an astrologer but I am just trying to impress upon you.
It must have been a hectic week for you but the weekend or say a single day has rejuvenated you fresh to take the world and your passion of cinema Head-On.
I look forward to read each and every word written here which comes directly from your thoughts and from your heart. Its like tasting the fresh waters (Gangajal) from the nearest source of Gangotri.

Dearest Amitabh Ji,
Good Morning.
I am extremely happy to know that you have started writing blogs and we can now directly communicate with you. I am yours biggest fan and I hope that you will read and reply to my comments.
It is heartening to note that you have started giving replies to your detractors and giving direct and frank replies regarding false accusations leveled by the media and other vested interests. There are many nobodies about whom nobody likes to write or read but when they speak against you to get free and cheap publicity then the whole world takes notice and they become somebody by maligning you in every possible way. It is not right to remain silent and diplomatic in such cases. As you rightly said in your movie Toofan; “Jab – Jab Julm Ki Aandhi Badhti Hai, Use Rokne Ke Liye Ek Toofan Aata Hai”, so you have taken the right decision to write blogs and give befitting reply to these persons and the media. Hats off to you! True fans like me have never lost faith in you but there were many who started believing what was written about you in the media. So, please accept my heartiest congratulations for starting this blog.
Sir, please take good care of your health. I understand that you are taking just 2 to 4 hours sleep, which is not good for your health. A minimum of 5 to 6 hours sleep is a must. I hope that you must be fast recovering from the injuries you got recently while shooting for ‘Alladin’.
I am eagerly looking forward to your forthcoming movies. I have never missed any movie of you except for 2-3 movies of your initial years in the industry. I request you to be extremely careful about choosing your movies. We want to see you in extremely powerful and central roles only, e.g., Mohabbatein, Baghban, Khuda Gawah, Aakhri Rasta, etc. Even if you work for only 2 movies in a year but they should be such that people remember them for at least 10 years like the movies just mentioned. Please try to do as many movies as possible with top directors like Yash Chopra, Aditya Chopra, Karan Johar, Sanjay Leela Bhansali, etc. Please don’t work with Ram Gopal Verma because he is misusing you.
I hope you will read and reply to my comments.
With best Wishes & regards –
Yours True Fan,
Sunil Mathur

With lots and lots of respect Sir—- As much as I would like to know where you are writing from, I agree with you for security reasons you should not be disclosing this information, wise decision on your part.
I wonder if ever my response has been read or not? How can one read 600 messages in one day?
I wonder why people write if they don’t like you. Its like—I love watching movies and there are people in the theatre, who talk while the movie is on and I often wonder why they are there in the theatre? I am not a soccer fan, so you will not find me in the stadium among serious soccer fans to spoil their fun. Same goes with your blog, if I have got nothing to do with you, don’t like you than why am I there to begin with??
All I know is that this blog has become a serious addiction for me, I look forward to read your post and what bits and pieces I knew about the real Amitabh Bachchan , seems like I know you more in last 17 days than ever and I am learning a lot from you.
The whole health Minister topic is funny, he makes fun of Saif Ali Khan, he picks on Shahrukh and in general his comments about smoke and drinks are insane. I am so glad to read your comments.
Sir, do take care good care of your health. With lots and lots of respect—Deepak from Vancouver ( Canada)

Sir,
It is true, as you said, that there is sufficient ‘good’ in the films. BUT, anyone would agree that majority of the impressionable minds gets easily attracted to the ‘bad’ and, hence, their guardians have to constantly keep a watch on them lest they get into bad company, pick up bad habits, etc. Therefore, I suppose Mr. Ramadoss is correct upto some extent in singling out the ’stars. But then he should, in the same vein, also target the politicians and other celebrities, including the ‘Page 3′ ones who are also seen on electronic and print media with the same vices in reality and not just on the silver screen.
Sermons to the impressionable minds hardly work and even if they work, they take a lot of time to work. But one bad habit they see, they catch and emulate it immediately. You are a grandfather and you must have noticed that. You keep telling a child to study hard, study regularly, eat hygienic foods, etc, but they hardly listen. But, for example, once they see someone smoking, they will try to pick up a stub and put it in mouth. Therefore, the need to censor the vices as much as possible from the films. But why only the actors, as I said earlier, even the other celebrities ought to present an example to the others.
Gud Raatri!

Dear Mr. Amitabh,
In the early days of Indian Cinema, there were big production houses/studios which dominated the film industry.
I see a similiar trend emerging now with corporatization ( like Moser-Baer, Eros, Adlabs/Reliance etc. ) that would perhaps bring in more capital and helo in reaching out to a global audience.
Do you see this as a positive ( bringing in better technology for eg.) or a negative where-in small-time producers/creativity would be quashed.
Lastly, a section of the media and some of my friends tend to believe that there is personal rivarly ( cold war) between you and Shah Rukh.
I tend to think it is just rumors and had thought that Shah Rukh was pretty close to Mrs Jaya Bachhan.

How about resplying once to me, Mr.Bachchan?? I was eagerly looking through your blog if some mention would be made to me, but guess I’ll have to wait longer ! Also, when will the schedule to the Unforgettable Tour be out? I hope to make it to Chicago for your show. I will be about 5 months pregnant then, and will also bring my 4 year old who calls you “Naina Uncle” thanks to ‘Kajra re’ and loves your songs like “Kajra re’, ‘ Rock N Roll Soniye’………so hoping to book some good seats/spots
;-)
Hope you are better now from the Asthma. With you not mentioning your location, guess for your security I can accept it, but at the same time, it used to feel very personal ad that much more closer to you when we would know exactly where you were writing from !!! But guess, will have to settle for this.
Thanks for staying in touch with your fans….and please write back to me!!!
With love and respects,

I dispute Rahul’s opinion. Rudeness would be more consigned to those who pronounce judgement without adequate knowledge. This is attributable to Rahul, not to Mr Bachchan.
Mr Bachchan, considering the years of defamation he has suffered with impunity from just redress, he is most restrained in the delivery of corrections. If his writing is tinged with impassioned frustration, then this again is due to admirable restraint and deserves a sympathetic audience.

Oh God! Is it truly you? A friend of mine sent me the blog link and I am truly mesmerized. Is it truly you?? Here I am, a graduate student struggling to finish her academic work, missing India and trying to make sense of what she is doing…. and then I get this link.

I applaud you on your silence to the insider-outsider issue and love the way you are going about the latest one to attack you
