There has been an overwhelming response to my last post and I must admit it has made me somewhat emotional.
I cannot say about other celebrities or how they react or entertain that which comes out in the print and electronic media, but for me it was a catharsis of sorts to discover so many of you that not only agreed with my comments, but were equally incensed by the unfair and biased attitude of the fourth estate, in some of the incidents that I brought up.
Many among you have been firm in asking me to desist from this futile exercise and not lower myself to the indignity of a response. The odd ones have not agreed with my stance at all; they are on the other side. Pretty fair. This is not a platform which propagates one-sidedness. Healthy comment and debate is a must for any public discussion and I encourage that.
There is accusation on being obsessed with media. They want substance on other matters. Things personal and more social and moral based.
I think if you were to go through my blog you would notice that there is a sincere effort to do just that. There are accounts of my daily routine, descriptions of my work and my films, issues that have come up through allegations; none instigated by me. There is talk of my father and his poetry and a fairly rounded objectivity to all that has appeared. If there is error or fault on my part, my apologies, I shall learn and attempt to correct it. This is in all earnestness and not a façade as some have claimed it is.
If I have asked opinion on game shows and television it is with a sense of sharing some of my issues with you and not to compare with or bring down an esteemed colleague as CNN-IBN claims. It is beyond my nature and upbringing to behave in such a perverse manner. I am not accustomed to gloating or being immodest, it is not in my temperament. I merely share with you what comes as a question in my mind and what has been in my mind for long. Surely this liberty is the very least I can expect from this wonderful medium. And so I write.
I do have strong questions in my mind about the media. Those that are not subjected to their writings are perhaps insulated from the effect it has on people like us and are then perhaps not in an equal position to discuss the matter. But as one that faces them everyday, a few queries do come up. They are not to look down upon media or to deny them their right of expression, but to give us a right as well.
The strength of the media and its medium is, according to me, the psychological effect it has on every reader. When we read an opinion, a comment or an accusation against someone or something, it comes across to me, as the opinion, comment and the accusation of a 100 million people. That is the strength of the press. The instant, direct and final word. For the individual that has been mentioned, it becomes his subconscious belief that every other individual that he shall meet or see subsequently, is now carrying the opinion expressed by the media. The words are constructed by one journalist, but they in fact become the words of millions of others. That is frightening. That is impressive. That is devastating.
What I am saying is this.
I want to be in a position where I have similar right.
Why is it that just one community is beyond scrutiny, beyond questioning, beyond opinion. And I am not satisfied by the face saving odd comments, hidden in some unseen corner, justifying your fair play.
I want to have the liberty of doing a review of your review. I want to give you marks as well. I want to allocate ’star ratings’ of approval or disapproval through my judgement. I want to be able to call an issue of a magazine or a tabloid or a daily, a flop. I want to then, on reading this, comment on the completely destroyed and deflated expressions of the editors or owners of named paper. And I want a platform that shall allow this observation of mine to go into the rest of the world, to a 100 million people. I want the media to feel how we feel when we are faced with such disparaging assessment. Because, it is the expression of that student that has failed his examination, it is the expression of the employee that is sacked from his job, without the prospects of another, it is the expression of the young man or lady that has been told by their lover that there is someone else in their lives, it is the expression of the young hopeful being told by the producer that he is not good for the part in his film. It is the expression of abject despair and rejection. It breaks you, crushes you, destroys you !
Nobody is perfect. And it is demeaning, debasing and humiliating to be continuously told that you are not.
Be dignified we are told; we are honorable people. Ignore, for we are honorable people. Be elusive, for we are honorable people.
My dignity and my honor has lain dormant for too long, its picking up some rust and I believe if it is not exercised I shall completely lose it !
There is a saying in Hindi – ‘chadhee rushta, chadhe tushta’ – quick to be annoyed, quick to be appeased. I shall not fall in that category. It is not in the category of dignified men. If it has taken me 40 years to explode, it shall perhaps take me an equal number of years to calm down. The record for posterity must bear my voice as well.
And so to things of greater importance.
Chandrima thank you for your response. And tell your husband Nitin Agarwal that I acknowledge his too.
Nina Arora, I do recollect your name and shall perhaps be able to place you if ever I see your face. Do fill me in on those early days and the attitudes of some in your profession. And there are still no moderators on the blog, but I shall check why you are getting signals to the contrary.
Somen Deb – I shall never ever envy any other’s success, I shall always encourage it.
Andrews, Ramakanth, Lopamudra, Gaurav Lamba in US, Laxmi Purohit, Rajeev Ranjan, Divvy, Akshay Sope and the hundreds of others for your generous comments on ‘BhoothNath’. Thank you Ranjit for responding.
And thank you Gaurang Bookseller for your inputs and Kunal Jadhav for the mention of the Nasik shoot.
And Vineet – yes I do write my own blogs !
Till later then, with love and much more –
Amitabh Bachchan

Just a few photographs from my schedule in Nasik for ‘Shoebite’ - with beard and without.

Hello Amit Sir,
It was a great pleasure to read more about you in your blog. Thanks a lot for your valuable time and responses. I am in toronto with my family and always read about your interviews, thoughts, through our “advance media”. Now in your blog its so different to read the same .
I want to know that how we can get “Madhushala” in your voice. It will be great to get as a lot of people in Toronto want to listen and very much interested in that.
Being on the top of your career how you manage to keep yourself so down to earth. Please advise.
Thank you Sir,
Sincerely,
Tarun

I’m glad you are taking a stand Sir, I back you all the way - and I’m sure a lot more people do too. The media is also a part of your life because of who you are. I’m sure if I were in your position I’d so the same.

It has been long, the explosions have begun and as long as its dignified which it is, its just right. You are a celebrity but no one has the right to be condescending in their remarks about you, opinions should be dignified too, which incidently have not been for a fairly long time. Your silence spoke when you chose not to and now that you do, it is just about the time you did.

Dear Sir Amitabh Bachchan Saheb
From your today’s view now i am very much clear on your intentions of replying to people in Media who degrade you by their mean comments.
My concern is that when such mean people will know that you have
responded to them (or to one of their kind), you will become a easy target
for any one looking for cheap publicity. All they will need to do is to target you. I do not know how you plan to tackle such situation. If you can please share what you plan to do for such people, it will be helpful for many others.
I really like the fact that after 40 years when you have exploded you will not sit quiet now.
My west wishes to you for Shoebite Movie. I hope you will take really good care of yourself in the heat and will have a healthy day everyday.

Hi Mr. Bachchan,
I beg to differ on the fact that your blog doesnt have moderators, it might be a technical fact but each time I post in something there is a message that the post be will seen once gone through the moderators, I might be able to paste the exact message tommorow once I post this meesage :-). Again I do wonder at times that they are pretty lineant moderators or honest guys looking at the comments posted in this forum. And Kudos to them for being the same.
Regarding your query about the kind of show your greatness would like to be in on Television, I have given it enough thought and still cant come up with a good one that is good enough for you. And I surely will post it as soon as I discover it.
Also as mentioned in my previous posts every person must have the right to comment or the freedom of speech till he/she respects and honors the rest of the constituion, the constitution is not selective, thats what probably has to be educated to the media or anyone who hopes to work in politics or media.
I also dont believe it will take you 40 years(metaphorical sense) for forgive people, I guess after going through your blogs since day 6 you are quite a forgiving character once the person realizes his/her mistake.
I liked bhootnath but cant say its one of your best movies.
Till then,
Signing off

Dear Sir,
thank you for the photos - treasures! - and fort the long post. I try to be fast in my comment, lest it will be buried beneath hundreds of others.
You may remember I have criticized your need to “clarify” so many articles, but (as a TV correspondent and journalist myself) I begin to understand the immense pressure Indian media put on you, and your need to reply in public to public accusations, impressions, opinions that you feel are wrong. That’s what blogs are for. It’s great if it only helps you to vent your anger, its even better if it sets things straight.
Still, I am glad about every post of yours that shows you as something more than an angry person (however rightfully that anger may be) - because there is so much more, and it’s just marvelous to be able to get a glimpse of the real Mr. Amitabh Bachchan - beyond film roles, and dubious articles from Indian newspapers’ online pages. It’s a gift you are making us every day, and I hope our thankfulness gives something back to you.
With thanks, regards and love,
Elisabeth

What you wrote reminded me of the quote by Voltaire: “I disapprove of what you say, but I will defend to the death your right to say it”
It’s great that everyone has their own opinion, and even if they do not agree with your thoughts, as you said, you have the complete right to voice them.

The point that you’ve made about review of a review is absolutely right! The fourth estate definitely is not beyond scrutiny. The not so good part is that already the press has a bad name (especially the television news channels) in India and they very well know it. But, there is totally no intent in them to change it for the good. If they feel that they can sensationalize and get away, people like you can definitely speak truth and make it known to the public. I truly go along with you. Keep going Sir!!

Harry

Dear Amitabh-ji:
Its such a pleasure to read such beautiful and erudite language from your good self though your blog.
From your appearances on television and that wonderful episode of Koffee with Karan, we always knew you to be a cultured, modest, virtuous and fine individual with great command and poise over the spoken word.
What was not known however was your magnificent command over the written English language as well. It is indeed such a great pleasure to read such finely articulated English.
May we humbly suggest that you continue this endeavor and also seriously consider writing your autobiography.!
It would be so educative for ambitious youngsters to read about how you managed your time in your challenging early years, how you grappled with life’s struggles and give us a glimpe on hoe the phenomenon called AB was made. You also have to your credit having bought up such fine, well behaved, cultured and loving children.
Whenever we see Abhishek speak and conduct himself in public I always wonder as to what we could do as parents to bring up our small boy to be as impressive, erudite, modest and well-behaved as Abhishek.
No wonder life has been so kind in giving him the companionship of the worlds most beautiful woman and an equally well bred and cultured individual.
You, who have gone through great challenges in life and see stupendous success, like hardly anybody else owe it as a moral obligation to share your experiences and growing years with us.
I realize that you are an intensely private person, however do please consider this and give it a good thought within your loving family.
Our very ‘bestest’ wishes to you on your forthcoming movies Bhootnath and Sarkar Raj and may they see great commercial success. We await them eagerly.
With best wishes,

Dear Amitabh Sir,
I appeal to all fans out here… to strongly condemn the Khalid Mohammed’s personal derogatory letter or so called review of Bhoothnath in HT.
Mr. Khalid Mohammed :-
You must know….Bhoothnath is already a declared hit…your
mal-intention to gain some mileage for your sinking ship of film reviews, will never ever be successful. Not only you repute will go down after this, you would be responsible to cut down the popularity of HT amongst intellect readers.
Sorry!! Mr. Khalid, your review cum personal letter is very childish and highly unsuccessful attempt to decolour the image of the Greatest Actor.
However, I must appreciate your vision to write this derogatory letter about Mr. Bachchan in HT… you were clever enough & well aware that Big B would certainly react to your useless & insulting letter in his Blog…. and as a result you would be able to get some attention by his fans…. But Mr. Khalid… you have done damage to only your own image and sinking career by doing so…
Also, on your advice to Big B for attending acting classes at Pune Film Institute, every one is just feeling pity on your mental condition, which urgently needs a psychiatric attention. The world knows….Big B is an acting institute in himself. Hope Pune Film Institute will agree to it too.
I think, you did it due to a simple reason………….you are unable to sip the “ The finest and Expensive Wine at Jalsa” . If it is so ..you should be conferred with the worst critics award of the millennium !!
Mr. Khalid Mohammed and all others… who think that any Tom ,Dick and Harry can even touch the status and Izzat of the greatest Thinker, Writer & Actor Amitabh Bachchan…. Probably he or she has gone mentally bankrupt…..!!! may the God give some sadbudhdhi to all these cheap popularity seekers !!!
With Respect, Love and Faith……

Mr Bachchan
The pictures of shoebite look so intruging. Can you tell us a bit about your role and / or storyline? And can you please update us on Zamaanat?
Watched Boothnath in Leicester, Uk after 2 days of trying because of full houses at the Odeon. Thank you for giving us such a endearing performance.
I am a scriptwriter who has written many plays and serials for Channel 4 and have written a film script with you in mind. It is a character that you have never portrayed before and I really believe you would set the big screen alight. The character is that on the lines of Vijay in Agneepath.
All I ask of you Sir is that you have a read if you can and let us know what you think. If you found it interesteing, Ii would hand it over to you to change / modify and produce it. All I want is to see you play this character of a lifetime. If you can supply me with an email address or office address where I can mail them to you.
I look forward to hearing from you soon.

Dear Amitji,
Thanks a ton for your write up about the press and the dignity. I absoultely agree with you that one has to keep the dignity else it may be rusted. And that to a legend of your stature must do it. Amitabh Bachchan is known for his amazing talent, personality and the greatest actor the Indian cinema has produced. Media blamining you for noe fault of yours should not be tolorated. I am sure many of he media people will be reading your blog and they may also be posting some unacceptable comments. Yesterday me and my family watched BHOOTNATH with my small kid. And I am sure it should be a Hit. The photographs for Shoebite lokks really wonderful and can’t wait to see the movie. Dear Mr. Bachchan
My GrandMa (beeji) is a riot. She has not missed any of your movies since SAAT HINDUSTANI ( guess what she saw the likes of Lal Badshah too and that too not less than 6-7 times). She was ferocious on reading Khaalida’s ( he he, Jaya ji is really funny) comments. She thus inspired me to write you a post on Day 23 i which was even before you responded to Khaalida’s comments ( day 24). Perhaps you didn’t even have a look on what I wrote…sob sob……. Actually she made me write this.
Lately she has started calling Khaalida as ‘Khali Lid’ ( which in punjabi means ‘only shit’). I bet this is more funny than what Jaya ji nicknamed him. What say??
She has not paid the poor Akhbar Wala for Hindustan Times as she never wanted that newspaper, she always insists on TOI & the poor guy used to throw HT for sundry margins. We are sure that this paper won’t come to our home for atleast next 1 year.
I just lied to her that you won’t sign any Indian movies after 2008 & she has been cursing me for this bad news from that moment. I’ll tell her the truth tomorrow…….he he…she too lies when my girl friend calls, by saying that he’s not home……..a taste of her own medicine, I guess.
Do you know that my grandpa is no more since 1995 & he had an uncanny resemblance with you in terms of height, beard and the famous baritone. When Mallika Sherawat commented on your slow motion running in coffee with Karan, I thought she was crazy or went on Rakhi
Sawant ways. But when I look at my grandma my doubts vaporize and guess what she claims that in her heydays she was a million times better than Mallika. Though sometimes I suspect that she still feels so.
God save me after she has read all these secrets go public.

Sir,
reading how you feel about the media, how devastating they can be for you, I am reminded of my own responsibility: As a German documentary filmmaker I am also a part of “the media”. Since there seem to be too many journalists - not only in India, but maybe it’s worse there than here in Europe - who are not aware of their responsibility towards people they write/talk about, it’s only fair that yo have found your own platform to write/talk about them.
On the other hand, I think you underestimate the TV viewers’ and paper readers’ ability to put things into context and think for themselves. And I think you underestimate your own massive popularity.
No journalist has a fan following of millions. You wish to have “similar right” as the journalists - in my opinion you have a huge advantage over every newspaper or TV person. They really don’t speak FOR 100 million people, they only speak TO 100 million people - whereas you, whenever you appear in public, automatically become the hero of 100 million people, who worship you, who have been your fans all their lives, and will always be on your side. So - who is stronger?
Please don’t get this wrong. I don’t try to defend a single one of those manipulative morons that call themselves journalists. I only hope you will see things from another perspective, and never again feel “devastated” because of some stupid article. I want you to feel good. Always.
I know it’s not possible, but it’s a dream.
Good night!
With respect and love,
yours
Amber

Dear Sir,
I am a huge fan of yours. I pray for your good health.
I have a sincere request, please do not work with average directors or do small roles for friends. I consider you to be one of the top actors in this country & would like to see you working ONLY with quality directors, like Mira Nair, Mani Ratnam, Vishal Bhardwaj to name a few. I heard that Mr.Dilip Kumar was extremely picky & never did any , Aamir I hear is also one who is also picky with scripts. I consider you to be a better actor than the great Dilip Kumar or Aamir Khan. If you can afford it, please give it a thought. Anyhow I wish you all the best.
With Love,
Sri

Saw your comments .Fair enough !!
I like the photos .
But Being one of the biggest supporter I always get worried about your Image .
In last 40 years you never commented what the Media has been telling..So why Now?. Let them speak .We know they have to sell their news paper. Also I see few people need cheap publicity (Like Salim ,Doss etc)and they can get it easily by taking against you .
But your fan knows what you are . When you clarify things it makes me feel that you are getting annoyed !!Why do I need o know them ?
just a personal opinion . But I know you must be smart and intelligent and know what to do the best .

These quotes are soooooo real sir !!! It applies to all of us…….
I remember a dialogue from TAARE ZAMEEN PAR By aamir khan
“There is an island called SOLOMON where the Tribal People practice a unique form of cutting trees down. If a tree is too large to be cut with an ax, the natives cut it down by screaming & cursing it. After some days of doing this, the tree dies and falls over. The villagers’ theory is that the screaming kills the spirit of the tree and, according to them, it always works.”

Dear Mr. Bachan,
I am an ardent reader of your blog. As soon as I get to work, I religiously log into your blog. Your literature in this site is kind of fuel for my day. Thanks a lot for doing this. I will try to answer the questions you have in 23rd day’s blog.
Is the format of question answer game shows loosing its shine ?
— I have not watched Paachvi Paas so no clue on the reason for its debacle; however, I feel that people are bored with repetitive work. But then I have to eat my own words as all the Indian dramas depict the same family story with woman in the family as villain, yet they are popular with masses.
— Too many question answer shows at the same time might be one of the factors.
— All over the world, talent shows are popular these days… so I guess it is like present trend… question answer game shows are out of trend these days I guess.
BUT I THINK THAT ANYTHING YOU DO WILL BE A HIT AS YOU ARE SO ORIGINAL AND PEOPLE LIKE ORIGINALITY!!! You pave way for many more who wants to follow you, but deny your existence.
Despite the presence of the biggest name in the business, why its depleted performance ?
— Some reasons for depleted performance might be:
1. No one is as big as you
2. Tremendous popularity of Internet
3. Popularity of dramas based on family stories and talent shows
4. Popularity of talent show like Sa Re Ga Ma Pa
5. Voting system in those talent shows obviously helps them in their popularity. Being the biggest Democractic Country, People in India love to Vote… vote more than once.
Are the TV ratings a correct indicator of the popularity of a particular show ?
— I think TV ratings is the closest indicator of the popularity of a particular show as far as the rating technique is not very poor.
The number of people accessible to TV has exponentially gone up. Does this reflect positively or negatively on the ratings ?
— This works in both ways. If the show is very popular, the rating goes up even more; however, if the show is average or below average the ratings plummet just that easily.
Is the fall in ratings due to the increase in the number of channels ?
— Increase in number of channels has to effect the ratings as with emergence of each channel, other channels lose some viewers at least. Nonetheless, if the show is of good quality, it will not have a long term effect on its popularity. I think Z tv’s Sa Re Ga Ma Pa is the best show after Kaun Banega Crorepati in the recent times.
Have a blessed day/night sir.
Regards to Jaya Aunty, Abhi Bhai, Aishways Ji.
Sujay
P.S. Read and heard positive things about Bhootnath…. makes me proud and lucky that I am born in the same era with Tendulkar and Amitabh Bachan.
Ah just read Khalida’s letter…. Remake of Sholay ok I can take that… But Chinni Kum also… Khalid is totally out of touch. Is he writing for your enemy? OR Is he using the same “funda” like Raj Thackaray to make sure people acknowledge his existence… what a wimp… I am sure he has something to say about BLACK too. Cmmon cry baby Khalida say something… let’s see how good a writer are you?
This is from someone who actually watched the movie and then wrote about it (unlike that monkey):

You Really are ANGRY , aren’t you…all your posts end up lambasting someone or the other…because they critize your movie or your actions. No wonder ‘the-angry-young-man’ roles suited you so much !! Before you start out at me, let me clarify - I like you and your acting. Your blog, though very entertaining, does not rise up to the your persona.
whoever is doing this job for you - is not doing it very well.I am almost certain that YOU are not writing these yourself - since I dont think you would lash out at bad reviewers and threaten people ( at least not in public) …Amitji is much more dignified than this.
last night I was reading a book, when i came across these lines…
” if someone accusses you rather than lashing out, imagine that this accussation loosens the chains of your own self cherishing ” - Dalai Lama.
Take care.
Sir you are the greatest why worry about those winnows!!! “Hathi Gayee Bazaar Kutaa Bhukee Hazaar”
“If you throw stone in a ditch be prepared to get some dirt on yourself too” — Amit ji please discard those stupid people…
But then I think he is rite too:

Hi!!
Ive been following your blog now for the past few days. I just wanted to add that I support your cause against irresponsible journalism. Instead of reporting facts and/or figures many journalist have started passing judgements. A lot of them express their opinions freely when there is no place for it in an unbiased press.
When they start messing up with even the facts (as I learnt from your blogs) and it touches one personally a strong reaction is natural.
I really appreciate your association with UNICEF and infanticide(as u mentioned in one of your blogs). I am a big fan of yours(forever) and Oprah Winfrey(lately)
She too is very vocal about the different causes she supports. It helped me to become aware of a lot of burning issues generally and those related to women. Hope to see your association with many more projects in future too.
Warm regards,
Richa

Dear Amitabh Bachchan ji,
Yes I am an ardent fan of yours and I am impressed by the depth of your writings and above all your thinking. It allows me to see the human side of someone I have idolized.
I was touched by your expression of art form in the blog on midnight. What a thought provoking. There are many others.
But sir, I and some of my friends here in (Seattle, WA) are in the camp which believes that your dignity is far beyond comparing yourself to SRK and responding to every nifty criticism levelled at you. Your contribution to Hindi cinema as artform and the level to which you have raised it, the struggles thru which you have and are going thru to bring your vision of cinema to reality is what I wish I can read and connect with you.
But once again, I am a common man who is a fan of yours and so I am not able to see the sensitivity you maybe trying to potray thru some of these postings. They say that great people have to take bold steps that are not norm. So I do go on fence with that thought.
Good luck in your endeavor and hopefully God gives you health I can continue reading about you more…
Best Regards,
Jayman

Dear Mr. Bachchan
I have been an admirer of you, your films and your family for the last 30 years. Whenever I have spare time I read any information and tid bits about you. But like every body else I used to depend on print media for this information and most of the time, they write inaccurate stories without verifying the facts. One recent example was the marriage of your talented son. There were countless number of stories that Aishwarya’s nakshatra is not compatible with that of Abhishek and you have been going to temples to rectify it. Those stories crated so much of anxiety in me as I used to think how come Amitabh believe those practices. I am a Ph.D scientist but have been living in US for about three decades. Even though I believe in many Indian practices and traditions but not this custom of matching Janma nakshtras of the spouses before marriage. I was very much relieved when your dear friend Sri Amar Singh clarified that intercaste marriages are common in your father’s family. So please go ahead and take on the irresponsble Press to straighten out the facts. I enjoy reading your blogs as you are expressing your mind and feelings from the bottom of your heart. Thanks for sharing with us, the wisdom and eloquent poetry and good values of life taught to you by your great father Sri Harivansh Rai Srivastava.
God Bless your family. Hope to meet you some day in person when I come to India. Please convey my regards to Mrs.Jaya Bachchan. I still remember her eloquent performance in Guddi and your great acting in Mukhadder Ka Sikander. My love to Abhishek and Aishwarya. Hope to connect one day with Amar Singhji too.

Mr. Bachchan,
The rage in your blog is quite palpable, and understandable considering what the media has put you through. However, do understand that in “exploding” you are only taking the bait and giving them more fodder to run their big news items and keep the pot simmering and stirring.
I think what would really interest people, considering your eminent background and your wonderfully eventful life, is your memories and the small things that you have learnt that contributed to your success.
I would be really interested to know what books you read, movies you liked (not your own or SRK’s ;-), we know enough about both your works to last 3 generations now), and where you think Cinema and Literature as Indian art forms are and the directions you would like them.
All these things sir, are so much more interesting than petty squables between actors and rants over inane reviews by ego-maniacal journalists.

Namaste Sirjee,
I do not know where to begin because everyone must be telling you that you are the best actor, that you rock, that they are your biggest fans, .. etc.
But apart from the great actor that the whole world knows you are, what has made me your fan is your humility & down-to-earth attitude. Success comes mostly to those who pursue it & sometimes also to some undeserving people; but there are few people like you who can still keep their feet on the ground even after conquering millions of heart!
I have always admired your 70’s films like Deewar, Amar Akbar Anthony, Don, Zanjeer, etc. (i have lost track of how many times i have seen them) & my near & dear ones keep saying that i have a rough voice (slightly similar to your baritone, although nowhere near in terms of clarity!) .. this has inspired me to practise the dialogues of these films in the mirror in my free time!
There has been no other actor who’s made me laugh or cry as much as you have by your onscreen performances & whatever i read about you or watch on TV about you is equally, if not more, inspiring!
Wishing you the best of health (because i am a very greedy fan, i want to see atleast a hundred more BIG B films) & good luck for Bhootnath (i will surely watch it; i have loved all your films in which you share screenspace with kids like Black, Cheenki Kum & Ek Ajnabee) …

Initially i was also of the opinion that you should hang on to dignified silence bit. But i like this new attitude - of you of wanting to judge the fourth estate after all known no one should be above scrutiny. They cant have holier than thou attitude. But also at the same time i respected your earlier attitude cause i know it is easy to erupt but hard to silently take it in all in your stride. Then you were a source of inspiration to ignore vile things people say and move on with life.
Also i left a suggestion some time back which i would like to repeat again . Please can you change the format a bit . Like have a calender with date and the dates where you have posted something can be highlighted. Try going from this post to the first post you wrote and see how time consuming it is as one has to jump from one previous entry to another.
with love

Dear Shri AB,
Yes I did read on ibn site yesterday the headlines were “BigB unblogs says SRK paanchvi fail” I was a bit annoyed at this because i had already read your writing on this blog. I visited back to the blog and copy pasted the link to the comments section (of that article) on ibn site asking them to show where has it been mentioned by AB that SRK is paanchvi fail and asking them to behave like a responsible channel. They did not publish my comment but today they changed the headline of the article to “Big B unblogs mind, says quiz shows losing popularity” leaving the contents as they were.

Lovely Amitabh,
I want to start off with a question. As a journalist I am wondering what drinking your wine has to do with writing an honest editorial. Are you saying that if you entertain people you must only get good press out of them? If the review is unfair, and the writers remarks defamatory thats fine. But expensive wine should have nothing to do with newspaper content!
You raise an interesting question. Of wanting a similar right as the journalist, as the media, to respond, to give your side of the story.
As a news television anchor ( with not an ounce of your kind of exposure) I can see your position from two angles. The first is that of a public figure. People have emailed me asking me about the shade of my lipstick, the colour of my hair, and made numerous personal remarks about me. Its annoying because i want a response to my news stories, not the make-up on my face!
Because I am a newspaper columnist they also come up to me and either abuse me or speak to me as if I were their best friend. Either way its often too close for comfort. But I also get to live a very big life, and involved in big events. I get to be engaged with the world and be an opinion maker and a watch dog for the people without a voice. I am allowed entry to the most intimate areas of peoples lives. Its a package. You cant have it all. You get the comments with the fame. Good and bad. As they say “if you cant take the heat get out of the oven.”
What I am saying to you is that criticism goes with the territory. So does the adulation you recieve. One blogger remarked that are as big as you because of the power of the media. Thats right in my opinion. Publicity - most of it positive has made you a world figure, your films widely watched. The legal response to your very valid concern as a celebrity is that the damage that the media does with its defamation is always outdone by the good it does in terms of providing a voice to the voiceless, being a watch-dog for citizens, providing a balance so that powerful governments, large corporations, wealthy individuals dont stamp over the weak. Thats why a certain amount of “damage” goes with the territory. In the name of “fair comment” which is very very necessary in a democracy, especially one as large and varied in ethnicity and religion as India.
You do have rights as a citizen and celebrity. You can take newspapers to court. You can prove defamation. You can write letters to the editor. You can ask for an apology. You can write a book. You can start your own television station. Or radio station. Or blog. Nobody is taking away your right. What we are saying is why would you want to waste your time with each negative remark? What do you do when people dont write it, but say things about you? Are you going to rush around India and the rest of the world and stop every single criticism? And finally, a personal question. How do you react when your family and close friends criticise you? Lovely Amitabh, stay in the light.

I Am Great Fan Of Yours & Even Your Family ,
Because all play their role very disciplined manner .
But i genuinely had Felt bad on 2 events of your life
1.> Wedding Controversy Inviting Some & Not Some {Which is now forgotten} .
2.> POSTING A BLOG COMPARING WITH SRK ON 23rd Day Of Blog With graph. {You COMPARED WITH SOMEONE WHO HAS NOT PERFORMED BETTER THEN YOU , YOU MADE A VERY
EASY WAY FOR King Khan To GET COMPARED WITH RANK 1 IN India , I was expecting a comparison of yours internationally with all who performed better then you
in the world for similar thing } I M Hurt Because of that post for 2 reasons a.) I Am even fan of Shahrukh Khan & B.)You Gave a Sit TO SHAHRUKH KHAN Besides You. that all sits were yours & now you placed him beside you
I Believed That if we do ranking 1 to 10
Then it is something like this
1. Amitabh Bachaan
2. Amitabh Bachaan
3. Amitabh Bachaan
4. Amitabh Bachaan
5. Amitabh Bachaan
6. Amitabh Bachaan
7. Amitabh Bachaan
8. Amitabh Bachaan
9. Amitabh Bachaan
10.Amitabh Bachaan
11. King Khan
12. OTHERS Begin s
Earlier till May 9, 2008 - 12:18 pm All the first 10 sits were occupied by you.
But After the Post Now The comparison Is might change Between Srk & U Sir It HAS NOW CONVERTED TO THE RANK 1 & RANK 2 comparison WHICH WILL NOW ONWARD DECIDED ON THE RESPECTIVE PERFORMANCE. I M Very much touched by your that post & thousands of your fans who also love srk would get touched.
WE LOVE BIG B BUT ALSO LOVE SHAHRUKH. It Might also increase the interest & limelight for Paanchvi pass se tez show because of this post but not favourable i suppose.
See all deck of card have four ace But Bollywood have 3 Ekke
1. Amitabh Bachaan
2. Shahrukh Khan
3. Salman Khan
If the ekke pe ekke Position comes strongest win ?
If Not , All Ekka wins for sure !
This three Ace are powered with god gift or great luck they touches anything & gets converted into gold ,
When i Say About you I Have an ready example that I Was not visiting bigadda but once your blog & Name Touched the website , Lacs & Lacs Have Clicked for this spicy & happening blog . I Have Many other examples of all 3 ACE But its Your Blog so i will write about you only.
I Also Learnt Some Great things From Your Reel Life & Even Real Life
A.> THINGS I LEARNT FROM YOUR REEL LIFE
1. Mooche ho to Nathulal jaise ho….warna na ho {So I Dont have any}
2. Sahi baat sahi waqt pe ki jaaye to uska maza hi kuch aur hai, Aur main sahi waqt ka intezaar karta hoon - TRISHUL
3. Main daaru nahin peeta. Daaru peene se liver kharab hota hai. Bahut buri cheez hai.
{I had Once In Life That to because Social Ocassion , I M From Dry state Gujarat So My Liver Is SAFE , I M Lucky I Have Taken Birth In Such State & City
Espicially AHMEDABAD Heart & Brain Of the State Gujarat}
4. Jisse commander banna hai, woh sab line lagakar saamne khade ho jaye. {I Used it as a concept many times , Its WORKING ! not dialogue but the concept}
5. Hum jahan khade hote hai line wahi se shuru hoti hai. hamara jahan khada hota..line apne aap khatam ho jaati hai. {First Reply Of Blog?}
6. Hamare desh mein kaam dhoondhana bhi ek kaam hai.
{IF I GET WHAT I WANT I ASSURE THAT THIS DIALOGUE WILL NEVER BE REPEAT , GOD BLESS ME I DO GET WHAT I WANT & GIVE WHAT I WANT TOO}
7. Saala, yeh telephone bhi ajeeb cheez hai. Udhar se aadmi sochta kuch hai, bolta kuch aur hai, karta kuch aur hai.
8. Parampara, prateestha aur anushasan, is gurukul ke teen adarsh hain.
THINGS I LEARNT FROM Your Real Life
1.Dont Mix your business {Reel} life with family Life & Dont Mix Family Life With Business Life , It Might Spoil the Taste Of Both the lifes - This Is My Own Quote Inspired From Your Family , Srk Family & Kajol & Ajay Devgan Family.
2. Stay Away From Politics & Politicians {MINS}
Reason {Optional} It might HURT YOU BUT I CAME TO KNOW THAT there are two kinds of politicians GOOD & BAD .
If I Go with GOOD THEIR ENEMY WHO ARE BAD AUTOMATICALLY BECOME ENEMY & bAD Politician Might be stronger even then good ,
If I Go With Bad Then My reputation might get hurt , or even i can be transfered to black list of good politicians whether i m involved with them or not .
For their small selfish profit they would get me into trouble . I M IN LOSE ON BOTH THE CASES .
*I Also want to do something for my country ,but i will not get into politics & still bring revolution to the growth of india.
I Want To Share a dream with you : INDIA A cOUNTRY WITH NO POOR , NO HUNGRY , NO ILLETRACY , NO INJUSTICE , NO CORRUPTION. THE DREAM COUNTRY INDIA,
HOW ? I Would Slowly Slowly Grow , Grow my busines & stake or percentage decided will go to trust , the work of the trust would be how to compensate the poor
,that they & their family GET FEEDED , GET THEIR DAILY EARNINGS AND EVERYTHING WORKING SMOOTH & THE NUMBER OF FAMILY JUST GROWS . With their blessings My Bussiness Will Flourish & With My Business Their Life Will flourish.

My Dearest AmitJi,
I decided to repost my comment from yesterday. I know I clearly said that it bothers me not if you get a chance to read it, as my sole incentive is simply having the opportunity to write to you.
However, realising that you have just blogged a new day, and my post is likely to be one of the first, I could not resist the temptation of the liklihood that you will read my post if it is nearer the top hehe. My ego is simply not big enough to stand by my priniciple, when my dearest is invovled.
***
I can not come to terms with the fact that I have only just discovered your blog.
Channelling a single word to u directly through this medium is beyond my wildest belief. I am deeply grateful for giving me (us) this opportunity to connect with you at such an intimate level. I never thought it possible.
I am truely lost for words. My love for you, your work and all else that involves you is unboundless.
Words are simply too miniscule for me to express just how much you mean in my life. Your positive impact is unsurmountable, and I shall forever be indebted to you.
I shall return later with a more sincere post. I hope you and your loved ones are in good health, now and always.
I just can not believe I am writing directly to you. You may or may not read this. But that bothers me not. An unread letter to my gratious one is as satisfying as one that is read.
I am looking forward to reading your blogs on a daily basis, and writing to you about the wonders you posses.
Kind Regards,
Azra

After sending my first post yesterday, I spent the entirety of the day reading your blog religiously. I felt so deprived knowing I wasn’t in touch from day 1.
I am in awe of your persona. You write so delightfully, keeping me hooked for hours upon end. Your skill and flow is unmatchable, and your eloquant responses to those who attemp to thrash you is highly commendable. I always knew you were a man of many talents, but as a child i was only hooked with your onscreen persona, as that was all I was accustomed to.
You have changed my perspective of life in numerous ways, and helped me overcome so many diffulties. I cannot even begin to explain how dear you are to me. One day I truely believe I will possess the interlect to express these feelings to you.
But for now I wish you all the best both professionally and personally in all that you do. I cannot wait to watch Boothnath.
It is a feeling of genuine and utter delight and fascination writing to you. I am so very grateful. Your the best!
Warmest Regards and genuine love,
Azra

Hello Amit Jee,
I know that it is not easy to get disturbed when someone target you everyday. It really bothers and haunts you. You are sitting at the pinnacle to the stardom. Persons writing against you have vested interest. I still say that you are the most dignified actor of Indian filn industry and your behavior and attitude is A grade. Don’t give a damn to these people. We want to see some challenging roles from you.
God Bless you

Amitji,
I understand your position and I am equally in agreement when you say that we can review a “review”. Everybody has their own perspective and everyone might come with an opinion which can directly contrast with others. What is required is an healthy respect for others work or opinion and not to be judgmental about others work.
I was disappointed the way CNN-IBN tried to twist your opinion regarding the TV shows.
I want to bring to your notice an article published in “The Hindu” (May 11th, 2008) by our health minister Mr.Ramadoss. The article can be found at the following link: http://www.hindu.com/2008/05/11/stories/2008051155081000.htm
This is in response to the supposed criticism of his views on film personalities/film industry regarding promotion of alcoholism and smoking. This is an interesting reading and I suggest that you should go through this article.
Mr.Ramadoss acknowledges your role as a brand ambassador on pulse polio campaign. He gives some statistics on how youngsters take to smoking after watching movies. He also gives details about various programs undertaken by government for rural health.
I do not want to discuss the merits or demerits of his arguments. But it is gladdening to note that the whole issue has given rise to healthy debate. One can always debate an issue without taking to task individual personalities. If the minister realizes that there is no point in targeting individuals there is always a scope for healthy debate.
Regards,
Raghav.

Dear Mr. Bachchan,
Namaste. through out, i kept maintaining the idea that it is better if you just ignore media talkes, believing that puplic figures are always subjected to these talkes, they are accustomed to it, and know how to handle it. but, after reading your post today, i think i was wrong. maybe we are unable to judge things and the reaction needed correctly because we are just giving our opinions, we don’t face the situation ourselves.
but, yea, there is a time when one feels that enough is enough, and that he needs to break his silence. and of course those who know how to maintaine a dignified silence, know how to give a dignified respone.
i never believed in this comaprison people or media are refering to between celebrities, especially that between you and shahrukh khan. yea competition is a good thing for the sake of progress and creativity, but this comparison is totally unfair.
Mr Bachchan, thanks for posting these pictures from ‘ Shoebite’ it looks interesting. goodluck with it.
with love,
Rasha Zayed. (everlasting light)

Hi Amitji
I think your blogs are becoming more and more intresting. I completely agree with your stance on the media. I think everyone has the right to express his views and i think the media does need a reminder that they r because we are. Its the celebrities that make them what they are, its the people reading/watching listening to the media that makes the media. So we the people and you the celebrity has every right to express their views on the media and its work. Bravo to you continue exposing these cheap yellow journalism.
Your get up for the movie shoebite is lookin wonderful, thank you for the pics.
Love and best wishes

Hi, Mr. B. …
I laughed, but with delight, at your comments today. I think it’s great that you’re talking back to the critics.
Why shouldn’t you? Your opinion is every bit as valuable as theirs, and you have every right to express it.
It was a new idea to me that you would strike back with your own thoughts, since you’ve always seemed so quiet and reserved in your relations with the press; but when I saw it, I thought, good for you! Go for it.

Having read through some of your concerns with critics, and being a graduate student in Film Theory and Criticism myself, I’d just like to point out something which has been driven home to me time and again during my studies:
Film critics spend their lives critiquing the works of others, without ever getting behind or in front of the camera to create their own work… and with good reason. Those who can, do - those who can’t, criticize those who can.
While there are many extremely knowledgeable and insightful film critics out there, there are just as many who cannot successfully negotiate the line between objective evaluation for the purpose of informing the public, and using their media space to indulge their own sense of grandiose or superiority.
Ultimately, you have more than paid your dues, and you have earned the respect and admiration of audiences worldwide. No critic is going to persuade your fans against seeing your movies

Dear Amit Ji
While agreeing with your agony and justification for delivering a fitting reply to the media, I still do feel that we as simple, non-media fans are loosing out in interacting with you as our person who can tell us what it is to be Amitabh Bachchan.
Of course it includes your pain on being treated as just masala by media but please do intersperse such responses with equal weightage to queries of your fans who cannot get it published on HT to catch your eye.
Cheers

All the suggestions recommendations made by your admirers only shows how much they care about you. I am also one of them, who admires more the way you carry yourself in the public life and express your self, than your films, although there is no doubt you are the best actors on my scale of judgement after acting in films life Deewar, Sholay, Trishul, Chup ke Chup Ke, Namak Haram, Black… I say so, because in films there are lot of other intelligent and creative brains which also contribute, but while interacting with public ( thru interviews, blog or other means) its you yourself who controls and drives it.
I strongly believe that parents upbringing reflects in the way their children behave and react, and so hats off to your respected parents, Also to you and Jayaji since Abhishek also oozes confidence, decency and maturity in every action.
As an honest and unconditional fan, I only pray that you keep checking with your conscience and never get carried away with success and power.
Respect and effection can only be earned and cannot be commanded. You , Jayaji, Abhishek and Aishwarya have earned it all and deserve it all.
With lot of respect.

Amitji,
I have truly admired you all my life, initially just juxtaposing your on-screen and off-screen persona in my juvenile naivete - Amitabh the person was purely manifested through Amitabh the actor. As I grew in years and maturity, and caught the occasional and sporadic behind the scenes look at the man himself, a picture began to slowly take shape - a picture of an incredibly complex, multi dimensional human being with tremendous intelligence, a deep appreciation of our culture and ethos and an incredible depth of emotion all wrapped in steely resolve.
Through good times and bad, (and those of us who have followed your life and career very closely know fully well there was an abundance of both) you have maintained a steadfast demeanor, leaving me to wonder at times if there was a living, breathing, human being in there somewhere capable of the intense feelings you so ably portrayed on-screen . You let your work do all the talking and boy! did it talk or did it talk!
It is only in the last few years, through your various print and media interviews, where you slowly started revealing, piecemeal, the depth of your feelings, did that complex picture start to emerge. Very tantalizingly, only giving a hint of the raging emotions that lay behind that very even keeled public persona.
And now sir, with this blog, you have completely pulled away that veil, revelaing to all of us, in one fell swoop a dizzying array of feelings, actions, events and just plain ruminations. For those of us who constantly strive to undertsand the real person behind the icon, this is a treat unlike any we have ever beheld. I for one eagerly await each blog and just salivate at what new revelation it might hold for me today.
Here’s wishing you many, many, many more years of iconism and many, many, many more years of blogging where, after nearly 40 years of informed as well as blind adulation I feel I am finally beginning to get a sense of my hero.
And sir, if you could permit me just one indulgence of exuberance -
I LOVE YOU MAN!!!!!!

INTRODUCTION
In 1968 Disney made black beards ghost with peter Ustinov-a comedy caper where a wraith comes to the rescue of a family who are being threatened by some casino developers, who want to grab the family estate, Vivek Sharma took the eponymous ghoul as Bhootnaath, then added a subplot of Ravi Chopra super hit Baghban, mixed it all with the spiritual exorcism of exorcist and created a so-called family-oriented horror comedy.
SYNOPSIS
A family comprising a mum, dad and an 8 year old mischief monger move into an anonymously haunted house in Goa, since dad works on a cruise ship and is in a guest role as Shahrukh Khan, he vanishes quicker than the real ghost takes time to emerge in the form of Mr. Amitabh Bachchan, during this time the brat who plays Bunku sings a song at school to introduce himself as a bull terrier-with afro-American kids rapping in Goa with Latino cheerleaders complete with pink pom-poms, the song itself is a copy of Diddy-Dogg rap, the mum as Juhi Chawla mistakes Rajpal Yadav for the assumed ghoul who is just a petty thief and chases him around the house in a circus gone wrong, by this time 40 minutes into the script Mr. Bachchan announces his presence to the brat Bunku, he actually has the gumption to call himself Bhoot-the child is not scared but rather exudes another song out of this unfortunate meeting.
There is another sub-plot with kids at school bullying each other so Bunku and Jojo crack some really sick jokes which the mum thinks are funny, meanwhile during a prank Mr.Bhoot accidentally causes Bunku a severe injury and the medical profession announces he will go into a coma the ghost is very repentant, so Mr.Bachchan can overact and shed some glycerine but the mom who talks to her husband everyday forgets to inform him about his sons fatal head injury, maybe Shahrukh Khan did not get his special instalment for the special appearance. Now comes the crunch the Bhoot and Bunku become friends and the rest of the movie involves the woes of the Bhoot who was neglected by his evil son and daughter-in law who pretends to be a Yankee and this severe trauma led Mr.Bachchan to become a Bhoot.
EXECUTION
Mr.Amitabh Bachchan appears looking haggard, dressed like a scarecrow, wearing green eye contact lenses with long silver polished nails and makes more so called funny faces then Asrani or Mehmood did in their worst movies, he sporadically cries, scowls and more often shouts, the kid and he compete in a bout of overacting and Mr. Bachchan easily wins as he sheds more glycerine the Aishwariya Rai did in Umrao-Jaan, remember she wep
