I am unable to resist sharing this with you. It’s personal. It was emotional for me and I thought so relevant to my last post, I had to put it down.
I posted DAY 31 last night from my room in London and when I got up this morning to check my blog, I read a comment from one called ‘little b’. I was unaware of the existence of this title and as I looked through it I realized it was coming from Abhishek. I am copying it here for you to read.
Abhishek was in Cannes with us. Jaya and I left for London and Abhishek was to take a later flight to Mumbai. His Nice-London flight got delayed and since he would have missed his connection to Mumbai from London stayed back in Nice to travel today. He wrote this comment as he waited in the lounge in London, Heathrow. The legacy lives and I hope thrives.
I am also attaching some stills from Sarkar Raj. It releases June 6th and premieres at IIFA in Bangkok.

Oh my god, that is indeed one of the sweetest things ever. It’s rare these days to see such love and respect between generations. Fathers and sons - they’re so important to each other. So important. I’d been thinking of fathers and sons for a few days now, and it’s amazing to suddenly come across the same theme in this blog.
To both Mr Bachchans, its a privilege to be able to share your thoughts and feeligns.

Nice one. Thanks for sharing with us. Dont know if Abhishek is always able to share everything/many things with you on emotional level when you are before him in person. if yes then he is very lucky. if not then atleast he is able to share you from distance.
its bit difficult in india for sons to share things on emotional level with their father. through letters it can be bit easy.
how was you with your father? did you feel at ease with him through correspondence or you were equally open with him in person also?
waiting for sarkar raj. hope it works fine and turn out to be a film doing good justice to your talent.

Your writing is so powerful but today’s post really made me emotional as well. I alomost had tears and it is really nice to see a special bond between father and son. Abhishek is very nice young man and a great actor. We are proud of all of you. I truly enjoy reading your blogs. Also, i am huge fan of yours and Shahrukh so other day when i read your clarification on relationship with each other, that made me even more happy as i can not take anyone talk non-sense about either you or Shahrukh. Few days back I had written a comment here saying while reading ur blogs isnt getting closer to our hearts. There was some distance and felt a little stiff. But as days pass, I must say your posts are getting too close to my heart and I am getting addictive to reading your blog.
I would never forget the line in your post: ” mann ka ho to achcha, na ho to zyada achcha ”. I have been going through some tough patch in career now and I get disappointed when I get a rejection.
U know, Most of the times when we read blogs, the writer is unknown and we put our imagination into thinking how that person looks, or says or talks, etc. But the best thing about your blog is when I read it, I dont have to imagine.

Wow, it is just amazing…The true legacy has been passed on and yes it lives and it thrives…Media as usual will not leave you alone and they will write that Big B is promoting small B on his blog…But Amit ji, leave these media and continue to do what you do best. They were not able to displace you by an inch since decades and will not able to do so in future 2. Thanks for sharing us the abhi reply…Though we know it is personal and so thanks once more for sharing it. Sir i wish you could agree to do BoothNath sequel…This time the comic times should be more with more magic scenes. Why don’t you ask the technical team to provide an email subscription service for this blog. This service basically sends an email to the subscriber notifying him that a new blog entry has been posted. That way we will get notified as soon as a new entry is posted. And it should be a 10 mins job to add this service to the blog.

it here. There were atleast 100 articles before abhi-aish marriage that big b will not allow aish to work in movies after marriage. Those writers and the papers and the magzines should demand an apology to Big B who went all to the canes to support her daughter in law. Inspite of being the “Superstar of the millennium” and the biggest star of India and of the world he went with Aish in cannes for her movies. I have all those media bashing magzine and it was written so ridiculously…Amitji you are the most humble actor and the greatest human being of India….Follow your heart and you will never be disappointed.

Oh my God..this is SO cute!! I bet it touched your heart..your son is just amazing. hes my favorite I love him so much!! I met him and Aishwarya on April 15th when they were here in Miami, I drove 6 hours and missed two days of school just to go see him..for what? ten minutes?! but it was totally worth it..I am sooo happy to see that he actually reads this blog (maybe not the comments) but I just hope he’s reading this and I hope I meet him once more and he actually puts his arm around me for the picture haha. Umm just a little information about me..Im scellina originally from Pakistan, live in Florida..LOVE Abhishek! I love him more than a fan! Im sure you’ve heard that a gazillion times but im serious..I dont think anyone loves him more than me. I have seen all his interviews, watched all his movies soo many times, I google him all the time (yes, im a stalker)..I even know what his favorite cologne/perfume is! He is just so…gorgeous! haha okay im gonna go now oh and Abhishek, if you’re reading this, DO NOT get rid of that beard!

Thanks for sharing Abhishek’s email. I had read about the incident in your life when you could not take part in the stage play in your biography by Bhavana Soumya. However, it was surreal to read it again in your own words. I have obtained much strength from your father’s words. They are magical! I also enjoy listening from time to time to “Bachchan recites Bachchan”. The poems and the recitation are amazing. My six year old son, Viren, asks to put this on at times when we drive, he does not understand them, but likes to listen to your voice (no surprise). I hope some day he learns and understands Hindi to appreciate their meaning (we live in the US and try to emphasize our native tongues). I do look forward to seeing your web site and your father’s literary works represented.

Thanks for such a nice post, this was your best ever post ever. They were really encouraging words! I was extremely touched. For past few months, I haven been very depressed and have been feeling very dis-hearted. Thing are not happening, the way it should have been and I cannot withstand to see all my hopes and aspirations shattering down. But, after reading your post, I don’t know how, I felt like I got bit of energy, especially with this line: “If things are not happening according to your wish, it is happening according to Almighty and he always does the best” Hope, this is true, and your father was right!

I am overcome with these words, as well. I do not know your son, but I have a similar relationship with my own. How wonderful that he recalled events similarly, and stopped on his way to share with you; that you were personal with us all, and shared it along. It blesses me.
It does indeed pass on to the next generation! May we always remember that what we do and say is a legacy to our children and our grandchildren, when we are blessed with them! They are the most important thing in life.

The blog brought a smile on my face. Yes-the legacy carries on. I have seen Abhishek and Shweta in school and was always amazed at the upbringing. Both of them were always so humble and respectful. Shweta was 2 years younger junior to me and always addressed me as ‘didi’ during our rehearsals together.
Great job done…
But of course-’My dad is the best’ like Abhishek’s dad is the best to him.
Both my parents and you two are the examples I follow in my path of parenthood.

Mr.Bachchan, I wanted to ask you something.. Please don’t get me wrong by this post.. Before I say anything, I want to say that my parents and I are very big fans of yours.. I just want to ask you a serious and important question.. You earn Crores every movie you do.. On one website it says that you are supposed to make Rs.2 billion this year.. This is in a country who’s average annual salary is far less than $500. So what are you doing for the poor people? I mean something significant.. There are millions of people dying of hunger, and your family seems to be caring only about these awards, ceremonies, and your status.. There is nothing significant being done to train these people, to develop them to get out of their current state.. There is nothing being done to further develop your country. There is so much crime out there.. So many things wrong.. If Bollywood/other affluent Indians put together at least 10-15% of their income, so much could change for India. Instead, you all are worried about who said what, how you are going to become even more famous, and how you are going to make more money.. What a shame.. Shame on you all.! You are a big role model for this country, why don’t you do something for India?

This is too much … now you’re making me cry.
The love between you and your son is palpable. When I saw you two together with Karan Johar once, on Koffee With Karan, I could see how close you were. Karan made him sit at a distance from you on the couch so they could get the proper camera angle on him, but as the interview went on I could see him moving closer to you, until at one point as he spoke he put his hand on your knee and smiled at you as he said something. It was such a touching thing to see.

Namaskar !! What else a person can ask for!!! Legacy will keep living on in more ways than you think or can imagine. This blog has finally given us the side of you we always craved for. hopefully i will be able to instill some of these philosophies in my young sons lives. We left allahabad 27 years ago and are settled in Las Vegas, USA. I still miss almost everything back home but times have changed and lives are different but still its amazing to see how vivid those days are, all we have to do is close our eyes for 30 seconds, if we can make that time…alas. As the saying goes, “We will always have memories.” Lets make all the living moments memorable.

After I see Abhisek I alwasy ask myself - Is that the “father” who brought up his kid and made a best son or is the Son who is good by himself to have a Father like you .
I also have a small kid and I am not sure how do you brought him up to get that kind of respect from a son ..

you two bond together like super glue… i sometimes wish all of us kids were lucky enough to have parents who are so so very understanding and who remember their childhood and try to relate to us. but sir, your generation sometimes forgets how hard it is to grow up in today’s world..
seeing how you try to relate to abhishek inspires me to try to be a better parent to my two kids… my daughter and i try, although we dont always see eye to eye…
its not easy , especially since i didnt have that growin up with my mom.. we werent always close… and couldnt rarely see eye to eye.
great job on being such a wondeful parent sir!!

This whole family is born with silver spoon in their mouth,one studied in Doon School, Sherwood College, other studies in Swiss, Boston, one put up entire hospital in his house to take care of his Dad as he claims, etc obviously man ka ho tau accha, man ka na ho to zyada accha ! or whatever.
Big one’s friend gifts farrari to small one, and when asked they say, oh you I love fast cars !!! and these people talk about man ka saccha and Zhoota and all philosophical topics.
What difference does that make? Ask this to a pregnant mother who works in a field amid-est scorching sun all day long.

when i was just 5 years old,,my first movie was amitabh bachhan;s movie,,,,i cried when he died in movie,,,,,when i was 10 i used to say,,,i am going to marry him,,,,silly right….
and same me,,,when abhisek;s first movie was realised,,,,,used to say to ppl,,,he will beat his fatehr in acting one day,,,everyone was used to laugh….
but again,,,when guru movie came,,,i think they had to agree with me….
i am 30 now,,,happily married,,settled in us…

and today first time i am writing in blog….

Bade mian to babe mian, chote mian subhan allah ! Just kidding… Abhi seems like a great son, its a hard act to follow for him because u r sooo big.. when i saw him in movies initially, i tried to look too hard for a younger you, honestly.. and was disappointed that he wasn’t exactly like you.. i wanted to see in him the youthful amitabh of ‘don’ in green shirt.. going toe to toe with helen singing ‘yeh mera dil pyaar..’ or dashing jai of sholay shooting down mangoes behind dharamji or for that matter taking rishta of veru to mausi.. and obviously its hard to live up to that….i guess thats what most fan did initially .. for me he came to his own in Guru.. .. i didn’t know he went to school in Switzerland, good for him..
Amit ji , People think of you as an action figure.. i think u were also a romance king…. and an excellent comedian… who can forget.. when u go to court in a movie and u r a bought witness… when told that the victim u described was to chicken .. u said with perfect timing ” bhai abhi dosraa haanth to lagane do … lol

That was a very endearing and respectful post that Abhishek posted on your blog. It is so nice to see that you two have such a loving, loyal, and close father and son relationship. Family and health are the true gifts in life. I agree that your legacy lives on through Abhishek and it will definitely thrive through him. Abhishek is a very good actor and seems like a great person. So he will continue to go far.
I’m glad you have mentioned Sarkar Raj on the blog since I feel this movie is important and could be the film of the year. The fans need to know when the film comes out so its good you plugged the release date. Many fans also feel there needs to be more promotion going for the film up until its premiere at IIFA in Bangkok. I hope you and Abhishek will promote the film through some interviews and get the film more out there. I can’t see the Sarkar Raj stills that you have posted. Perhaps you can post the stills again for all of us.

How sweet! I am deply touched and moved by the relationship shared my fathers and their kids. Yeah, dads are the best in the world, whether they are a celebrity like you or not.Having lost my dad at this young age, I know what it it to loose a person so dear to us. Also I would say, you are an icon, not just becos of your acting prowess but becos of that human touch, becos of this wonderful bonding you have with your kids, becos of this wonderful bonding you have with people, with your fans. If you didnt have this, you wouldnt have shared your father’s words of wisdom with us. Why should you? Its becos of the special connection you have with people! I have read this wonderful words of your father’s from one of your interviews and trust me, I keep holding it to me tightly at times of frustration and despair. Thank you sir for sharing it with us.

I have to say, your post today is very surprising, not because of the content but because of you sharing something that your son has said to you - which people usually keep to themselves.
To me that shows that you value your fans quite a bit - for which we as fans are very lucky.
I think a lot of people will take inspiration from your posts (today and yesterday) because we all come across situtaions like yours and abhisheks which do make us feel extremely low on a morale and other levels, be it love, studies, sport or work.

I work at Intel in Portland Oregon and entertain people in my free time with singing/dancing, teaching dance to kids etc, I also bear the dream to dedicate my life to entertaining people.
Your blog is aww-inspiring, I am really glad that you have started this, a lot of people across the world are getting insight into your life and there can only be positive coming out of this!
I lost both nanaji and dadaji few years back and live 10000 miles away from family, par aap ke blogs padh ke aisa lagta hain jaise main apne buzurgon se kuch seekh raha hoon! And I whole heartedly thank you for that with a smile, that and prayers is all that I can offer you in return:)

A wonderful son to a great father.
Having followed your family since the days of ‘Yaarana’ and ‘Muqaddar Ka Sikander’ ( and going to Metro Shoes in Bandra to get the similar boots to those you wore in Mr Natwarlal!!), I have had immense respect for you as a person and more importantly as a father - this was mainly after Abhishek came into the limelight.
Besides showing the world that Abhishek is his own person, Abhishek reflects all that is AB, in his demeonour, his elegance, his stature.
A wonderful son, reflecting the brighter light that is the great father!
PS: I have been fortunate in meeting up Mrs B - once, many moons ago at London Heathrow when she travelled with Rahul and Priyanka and second - as recent as February at Sajid’s! On both occassions, the honour of meeting her was truly mine. Utterly gracious. Non-assuming. No airs and graces!

THIS is vintage Amitabh. When I first heard that you had started blogging, I thought the Harivansh Rai brand of wisdom and gyaan would flow through. But initially it was not to be… This seemed to be more of a reply to the journos.
Though, I do not either approve or disapprove of the same (it’s your personal space on net and each one of us has the right to express what they feel they need to let off. It’s not for others to comment or even speculate whether its correct or otherwise). But I can vouch for this – as a fan, of not just the actor but the man we thought we knew so well, I was disappointed. But you have made up for it and how. I love it. This is not the first time I have heard of this line from you. I do not remember which interview it was – maybe Rendezvous with Simi Garewal with Abhishek and Jayaji that I first heard you say so. Or maybe Koffee with Karan. I seriously do not remember… but the profundity of the thought stuck me somewhere and has indeed helped ME multiple times to get out of rut. I am so glad to hear you let out the complete version of the story.
For the times I came here and left unfulfilled, this made it up and seriously more than enough. As a true Bacchan fan, THIS is what I have been looking forward to. Thank you Sir. You made my day today.

I don’t know if my parents weren’t there what i would do. These 10 words that your father said many many years ago are God-sent for me. I live in California, USA. Time and again I tell my kids that things are meant to happen OR not to happen for a reason. When they miss their games or important events OR when we cancel our vacation plans, I tell them–there must be a reason that this happened. They are young, only 7 and 11 years old and do not understand what I mean. Today when I get home I am going to tell them these 10 golden words and your story associated to the words. ALthough they do not watch many Hindi movies, they know who you are through me as I’ve never acknowledged even the existence of any Indian film personality except you. They know thier mom is a die-hard fan of Amitabh, so they are going to pay attention to this story,

Addendum to the last post and you wonder these people were born in India. Look at thier interests and hobbies, look like a complete westerner style, even more than that. They only become Bhartiya or Desi in movies to fool us!

“mann ka ho to achcha, na ho to zyada achcha” - if you look at those words closely and take it to your heart you would never get disheartened even if you fail after giving it your best shot. It must have been one of the few experiences which Babuji must have gained during his lifetime.

Father figures sometimes come in forms other than a father. As much as I love my father the true inspiration in my life is my deceased grandfather (my father’s elder brother who raised him). Sir, when I read your last post and Abhishek’s reply to it, It suddenly brought back memories of growing up. And I realise I have been blessed. Just like you and your son still rememeber those golden words of wisdom from your father, I too remember so many things my grandfather used to share with me. His life was an example for me and even today when I am faced with a dificult situation, I close my eyes and think about the times I spent with him, when we chatted, discussed and even argued. It usually made me see light!!
You set a good example for your son and that’s why I am your fan, not just because you are the greatest star in the country.

I cannot express how wonderful it is to see the relationship you share with Abhishek. I have always been a fan of yours, but after seeing the relationship you two share over the years, I percieved you as more ‘human’. I know that probably sounds so strange. Usually when we look at any one from the film industry they seem so fake. You and Abhishek are one of the very few people that live their lives as celebrities and still seem so real and so down to earth and someone any person can relate to.
I’m sure you’ve heard these things before, but after reading your post and Abhishek’s reply, it made me think of my grandmother, who has passed on, who used to give me the same advice. Thankyou both for bringing back those memories.

Its quite amazing to how much strenght our parents pass on to us. Reading this really makes one wonder: we always see you as Amitabh Bachchan the brillant actor, who has millions of fans but i guess most people dont realize that you go through all the ascepts of a father, husband, etc….i think the indian culture really is quite beautiful for the relationship we share with our parents….recently a family member of mine was in a nursing home and there lay many people whose did not have the support of there family with them so they would sit outside and talk to strangers just to get through the day. i congraulate you having a connection with your son its quite beautiful and thats the true treasure of life.

What a precious father-son moment!! Grateful for the technology that even in this fast paced world, we can share such poignant moments with our loved ones.
Interesting to note that some of the most reflective moments for you and your son are during your travels. You have certainly passed a lot of you down to your son.

I think you’re a splendid actor. And honestly, I’m not a star crazed person, I was reading some blogs out of curiosity today since I was bored and I heard that bollywood actors are now blogging too. dear sir, thanx a lot for sharing the post of abhishek here.i just cant describe my happiness in words in reading something written personally by abhishek. i am a huge fan of abhishek right from the days of refugee.i have always felt attached to him on a super human level.i have felt the pain and trauma when one after another films of his were not clicking at the BO.today i feel vindicated after seeing him right on top.although i did,i do and i will always believe he is the actor who will take your place at the pinacle of hindi cinema.because he is not only a great actor but also a fantastic human being just like you.THANX A LOT for making him the person he is..thanx for inculcating the human values,the dignity,the humility in him ..thanx a lot for giving us ABHISHEK..i would not mind if i dont get a reply but sincerelely hope that READ IT ATLEAST.

I have been reading your blog, and it has been a great experience. I am 47 years old, and used to wake up looking at your poster during my college days. Now that I am more Mature (hopefully) I laugh at my own actions, share it with my Son and get teased. Thank you for letting us into your “world” and helping us see your life through your eyes. Little B’s response was nice. It looks like you have a great relationship with your children. My own father is an actor in the south (very famous) and I know how it is leading a private life being in the public life. Thank you

I have been reading your blog from month and so and today first time I am writing to you. I like this blog I am responding to very much. it’s truly your personal father-son matter and I understand how you must have feel while reading your son’s mail.
enough praising now some criticism.
I have watched BHOOTHNATH, I am sorry to say I didn’t like that at all. it is bogus and while watching looked like I paid money just to watch AMITABH BHACHCHAN and RAVI CHOPDA friendship work. this I feel second time, first when I saw your performance in JBJ what a un-watchable character you played, even all four other actors has played better than yours. you should not do this kind of movie because its our hard earned money we expend to watch a movie.
Nishabd was really good I know it didn’t do well on box office but kind of character you played looked like a story flow, not only AB flows.

I look forward to reading each day’s posting on this blog.With all due respect, I must say yesterday’s and today’s was the best so far. It is quite true but in the midst of everyday hustle and bustle, we do tend to forget that whatever happens, happens for a reason. I have gone through some rather unpleasant experiences in life and since I have been following those ten strong words, it has made me into a very calm and content person. It is like not expecting too much itself. You are great Amitabhji but your father was greater and a very noble person. I have of course not met him but from all that I have read and heard about him, he comes across as a very wise man. And yes, we are all praying for the sad loss in Sichuan, China. It’s quite hard to understand why is there so much pain and loss .

Very touchy and inspirational story on day 31 and I made my daughter read this. She is 15 and a very sincere girl. She attempts to achieve the top rank in everything she does. I always tell her to learn to loose otherwise she won’t know how to face a defeat.

The bond that you both share is exemplary. It reflects a mutual understanding and respect for each other and the freedom and space that you provide for the father-son relationship to grow.

All actions of this family seem so much dedicated to the family than for the self that it gives a public demonstartion of how a family should be. In times that the public image of public figures is taking a battering, this is one family that we can look upto and one which we can emulate to prove the richness of the Indian culture.Here I cannot forget the role of Shweta, who has been the cynosure of the eye for the father in all his public utterances. I hope Shweta’s marriage and the void thereafter has been filled to a great extent by Aishwarya.
