An article by Yamini Lohia in the prestigious edit page of the Times of India -

OF BLOGS AND DOGS - ‘TONGUE FIRMLY IN CHEEK‘ !
It looks as though the members of animal farm are upset.
No longer do they have the hegemony of the field.
No longer do their muzzles bark their own vicious pleasure or shriek for the sheer volume of copy.
No longer do their edicts of ‘Four legs good; two legs bad’ hold any power.
No longer can they madden a mob of disinformation, hearsay, distortion, the very stuff of their own wild and irresponsible imaginings, and force this chaotic mob on the public with impunity.
No longer can they con us, harangue us, terrorise us, define us.
Yamini Lohia, you need a job. Not only has your raison d’etre vanished with the revolution of the internet, but you demonstrate the kind of limitations that make you profoundly unsuitable for your past career. You just couldn’t be bothered to read your sources, could you? If you have, then you commit a worse misdemeanour than slothful ineptitude.
I categorically refute your claim of “rechristening Shah Rukh’s new quiz show as Paanchvi Fail”.
I categorically refute your claim that I intend to demonstrate anything but the utmost respect and admiration for my colleague.
I categorically refute your claim to professional legitimacy when you so carelessly practice the crime of slander. Your tyranny is over and you will go hungry - your ‘meows’ to the public won’t feed you anymore.
Yamini Lohia, you need a job.
And with regard to your (illegal) slander of my being involved in “lucrative blog deals”, it is clear that you cannot imagine how anyone might write for free, and for the good, and for better public discourse, rather than conforming to your own sad little life of being a paid-up hack.
‘Deliciously juvenile’ this, Yamini ??
With love and affection -
Amitabh Bachchan

Look at their cheek to notice creases on Ash’s clothing. You should have told Shobha De that the next time you will call her to take the creases off her clothes. Hello Amit-ji,
I take this opportunity to write to you what I always wanted to tell you ,if I ever met you.
Over the years,I have admired you for your command over the language and the way you carry yourself. It clearly tells us about the upbringing you had and is a reflection of the values your parents imbibed in you.I also admire your humility and dignity in your body language which i noticed while watching KBC.You are a wonderful orator.Whenever i see you speak on any channel I stop. You seem to be very articulate. Will be great ,if you can share that secret behind this rare quality on your blog.I for one will cherish that for sure.
But I am not a big fan of your acting skills and your movies except a few like Deewar,Sharabi and may be an agnipath.

Dear Mr. B,
These journalists have learned to write, but to read and understand is way beyond their capacity. It was their words that you had repeated in your Blog on TV Game shows and now they are presenting it as it was originally said by you. I am just wondering how low they can go just to fill their stomachs. Forgive me for using such language, but people in world’s oldest profession have more character and dignity for their work than these journalists.
They are saying that you are being paid to write your blogs. Good if you are as you are doing a wonderful job. Whereas these Yamini’s and Khalida’s (no pun intended) should pay for their so called work to be published.
Mr. B, again I would request you to stop answering to these journalists futile attempts to enrage you. All I can say is “It’s no use arguing with Stupid’s; first they will bring you down to their level and then beat you with experience.”
Just have fun reading them and laugh it off and leave them to your fans.

Now thats a reply that will give a few sleepless nights to Ms. Lohia… you’re right.. maybe the reporters seem a tad desperate as their grip on influencing public opinions/perceptions seems to be loosening.. But honestly Sir please do not dignify such inept writings with a response.. you will write to one and there will be five others writing similar things! how many will you respond to? hell this might even become a means to get famous! - “Amitabh Bachchan responded to my article in this and this manner!!” Do keep writing though.. your blog is almost addictive..

Hey Amitabh,
I’m a gr8 fan of your old movies( though I’m just 30 :). why do you bother to reply each and everyone who writes something about you?
Have you ever bothered to write on someone who praises you and says that you are a superstar of the millennium and lots of good thing like you are the only hero of this country and so on… there are so many good things written about you which are not true, …there are many….would you mention them and rubbish them? I dont think so…
On Shahrukh, You have already clarified your stand so why are you repeatedly clarifying it?
It seems like you have committed some crime…
I’m a great fan of Shahrukh, but he is no gentleman. you must have heard him in recent award shows and he deserve a treatment. he deserve every bad treatment…
he was rubbishing each and everyone..
So please dont bother about the columnist and journalists ..it is their job and they will write it… you can’t stop everyone..
Hope to know some best steals from your life which will inspire us, in next blogs
Best,
Arvind

Ms. Lohia’s article would have been mediocre if it was a few notches better.
Also, it seems that every journalist/quasi-journalist now needs to write an article on celebrity blogs in order to make their (imaginary!) readers aware that they are aware of this new order.

Hello again,
Yamini has shown with ease, her own childish-ness by scripting and publishing this article. It amazes me that Editors who should know better, use thier newpapers and magzines to publish such worthless, sad attempts at journalism.
Unfortunatly, its not only in show business that the claws come out. I am an IT Consultant in the UK, and believe me…you would be surprised at how peoples inscurities manifest themselves in day to day operations. I’ve learned with some bad experiences, and a lot of laughs to ignore them…what the hell? If I’m doing well, its by Gods grace and hard work…thier bitching and sniping makes no difference.
It must be very difficult to constantly be in the public eye and have your every move analysed and packaged up in someones elses opinion. Hats off to you for being strong and coming out the better person - your grace and personal strength always shine through. Don’t ever lose that Mr B. :-))
Guess what? I was watching Yaarana the other night, I happened to be flicking through the television and stumbled upon a repeat showing - I thouroughly enjoyed watching it again, it brought back memories of my childhood when I cried for you while you sang ‘Bhole..O Bhole’. Excellent.

Hello Mr. BigB,
I wonder why do you take so much of pain to comment on the comments of someone who has naturally got nothing else to do. I am really surprised by this post. I tried to analyze why you might have replied to this post. I thought there might be two reasons:
1. You are upset with the comments.
2. You wanted to clarify yourself.
Now first one simply seems to be IMPOSSIBLE for a man so successful as yourself who I am sure knows well how to handle this stuff.
The second one might have been the reason but I am surprised as to why should you try to change the mindset of people.
There are two broad categories in which your fans can be categorized:
1. Real Fans
2. Fickle Fans
Your real fans would just laugh off the posts by “whatever is the name of that lady” and co. and fickle fans would immediately take notice of it and change their mindset. They sure will and no one is going to stop them. But why care for them when you have a whole lot of people who love you truly.
Please, I beg you to stop replying to this stuff. I am sure that you would try to understand the sentiments of your real fans.
Regards,
Your Fan

WOW Sir.. what a reply !! I enjoyed every tiny bit of your reply, read it again and again AND again and couldnt help but wonder what has happened to journalism (or whatever its called these days). It has been so long that it seems like it never existed in the first place.
I would also like to confirm your belief that for us (all your fans), it has been an amazing experience to read through your blog and just to get to know as you are and not as you are projected.
I have grown up watching your movies and laughed and cried as I watched them. So many years have past but everytime I see your scenes from Amar, Akbar, Anthony, Satte pey Satta …or anyother movie… they just remind me of so many priceless memories of my past, my family and all our fun.
I am sure you will read my comment and all I can say is that - Sir, you are an inspiration and your father’s words [mann ka ho toh…] is something our generation of Indians needs the most today.

The ultimate irony here is that if Yasmin Lohia considers the entire subject so juvenile and so forth why is she even giving attention to it? Why have those in her profession forever obsessed with precisely industry gossip from affairs to fights? It is remarkable that the media keeps throwing up these pieces offering commentary on your blog (and now Aamir’s with the ‘dog’ anecdote) and at the very same moment criticizes you for indulging in it! Aren’t there more ‘important’ things to write about in a country the scale of India with all its myriad problems and issues? Why then does Yasmin Lohia feel so much for this particular subject? Is it only my imagination or does the fact that in both instances Shahrukh being the ‘target’ (apparent in Aamir’s case or deliberately imagined in yours) have something to do with this perfect storm of media ‘bylines’ on this issue?! In any case we don’t have to wait for blogs from Messrs Arjun Singh and Digvijay Singh. The likes of Yasmin Lohia report all the gossip anyway as they have been for years with respect to the film industry. Ultimately isn’t this the crime you committed when you refused to talk to the media for years? You dared to cheat them out of a whole treasure trove of quotes to mangle in turn! The media is ethical. They prefer not to invent stuff. They prefer ‘editing’ creatively.
All these years when all and sundry used to opine on you and your career such ‘outrage’ was never evidenced in the media! Shahrukh Khan in the most flagrant example has routinely been dishing out barbs which then get celebrated as ‘humor’ by the media. He does this in interviews but also notably in all the award shows he hosts. Somehow we don’t get his sense of humor if we don’t appreciate his condescending remarks! Well why doesn’t the media get Aamir’s humor?
This Bombay film media is really now only an arm and organ of the film industry, totally complicit with one camp or another and often corrupted by such. This extends to the esteemed ‘trade’ figures as well. It takes only a little bit of experience to figure out how and why a piece is written toward certain ends. Could Yasmin Lohia be so naive as not to notice? Could she really have missed all the snideness directed against the Bachchan name (both ‘Amitabh’ and ‘Abhishek’ and now ‘Aishwarya’; one fears for the domestic help at this point!) on a daily basis? Wonder why she never expected such ‘wrath’ and ‘fury’ before when this was happening! It still happens so it’s not too late for her to reconsider!
At any rate this was a good biting response from you. And it is only testament to the success and importance of your blog that the media cannot resist writing about it. Much as the media writes about the ‘Bachchans’ all the time and even if the coverage is negative what is underlined is the fact that they cannot ignore this name. One should take this compliment!
I would lastly, and just a bit naively, urge Yasmin Lohia to visit (she obviously hasn’t done so before) the relevant post that deals with the Paanchi Paas/KBC issue and read (if she still has that ability) what has actually been written there. Lohia has done no more than buy the media characterizations in this sense. I should not even criticize her. It is precisely this lack of ethics that makes her perfect for her profession!

Quite an irony, I see unfold in the Indian media lately. Out here in the US, we have ‘news’ from channels such as Headlines Today, Aaj Tak, Sahara news and (at the risk of sounding pompous!) as an educated and experienced audience, see that these channels churn out at the most about 5% of valuable, useable news from their 24/7 coverage.
The irony, I mentioned, is in the handling of the so-called ‘public figures’ by the various houses in the Media estate - TV, print, radio.
We are constantly thrown justifications of ‘they are public figures, so they should expect public scrutiny’. I don’t have any issues with that. I agree. People gaining popularity on account of their ‘public’ activities or professions have to stand up to public scrutiny in the same way, they accept the ‘public accolades’.
However, where is it written that public figures, such as yourself, Mr B, cannot and should not express their ‘personal’ opinions, views, thoughts or comments on issues, matters that influence, affect their respective lives???
I believe in yester years this Yamini’s article - a monologous, one-sided, unresearched view-point targeted at the recent exposure to celebrities blogging, would have been accepted as gospel, the truth. But in the current environment, such articles are easily refuted (as you have done) or confirmed and thus not accepted as true journalism, without question.
All of the above with one basic rule: Such blogs of impact, and influence, such as yours, Mr B, Aamir’s etc come with a huge responsibility towards the expectations of respect, protocol and truth.l Your respective blog life cannot, and should not have any room for conceit, or retort.

I am huge fan of yours and have grown up on your films.I have been a regular visitor of your blog quite some time now.
I really admire the way you deal with every situation in all the times .
I would like to ask you one honest question hope you will not mind answering it
how you keep yourself so poised in all the situations that you come across.
Be it people around you commenting on various things or your initial career days when the journey to the achievement was not that easy, what was the thing that made you kept going .
In reference to the your recent post of Yamini Lohia ,
I think you Blog is the medium where you can express your views on every comment and compliment being made on you , which was next to impossible without this techonology .Also I want to take the opportunity to let you know that how much I appreciate the way you reply to them with all the things you want to convey them and yet maintaining the dignity..
I rather we all would be really fortunate If you can share some words of wisdom with all your fans as you did in your one of your recent post.”Man ka ho to accha , na ho to zyaada accha”

We always hear your side of the fabricated story Yamini, so whats wrong when we hear directly from the celebrities? And its not only Indian Celebrities that blog, lots of Hollywood celebrities blog too.
indian journalists who dont have a lot of time to keep up with their tasks and ofcourse with celebrity blogs just pick up bits and pieces here and there and make up their last minute column. What ignorance!
Look towards Hollywood, nobody complains about celeb bloggers. There are only happy when their favourite celebs speak something and they are happy to quote it without fabrication. Whereas here its totally different.
The media has taken celeb blogs as a blow to their bellies.. not the other way around. Maybe they’ll get used to these blog things and their bad sources and incomplete references. Ignore those JUVENILES Mr. Bacchan

People are people, they are all the same. Some people advise others not to fester and harbor hatred as it will drown you. The others have figured out a way to write angry blog such as above, as long as you put down “with love and affection” at the end. As long as you use sound bites such as my dearest all, with love and affection etc etc, that’s like washing all your sins in a river Ganges after a sin !!!
Kudos!!! Keep it up.
Lessons learnt, arrogance, belligerency, modesty, humbleness can not and should not be judged by what person writes, or says about himself or reminds us of father’s teaching etc.. but should be judged by actions alone is what me thinks. There are many people practice modesty and we don’t even know about them. It’s like a ‘gupt daan”.

Two comments - one more technical from the blog / site perspective itself. The proper use of real estate is of great value - not only when it is for an actual house (interior or exterior) but also for a website or a blog. For the current article, the picture itself occupies more than 50% of the real estate. I have to scroll down to first read the scanned copy of the article and scroll even further to read your response to it. Bad design and layout. A better way to do it would be to put a small size photo on the blog and paste a URL to get a larger version of the photo. Likewise, within the blog site you can paste the URL of the scanned copy. That way readers can read your article first up, instead of having to scroll and adjust their screen sizes.
Second about the writing itself. Every one who is commenting on your blog is obviously interested in your opinions and thoughts. They are or have been your fans. While commenting on newspaper articles pertaining to bollywood and / or yourself is nice, we would - as your ardent fans like to hear more about your opinions on certain political issues, economic issues and your interest in things like global warming etc. Issues that surround us with articles every day. There are several other sources to read about your opinion on bollywood, but your blog could be catered towards more of such geo-eco-political issues and concerns.
Comments please …
Thanks,
Abhi

I eagerly look for great words coming out of your blog being the person that you are , the son of a great author himself . The author whose words have inspired us for ages . But Now and then you disappoint me with these useless comments on useless articles written by these useless journalists.
You have shown that you are capable of toucing the hearts of people by narrating in depth about lessons like ‘man ka ho to achha …..’
You will note that you would have received much more appreciation for the
‘man ka ho to achha …..’ blog rather than the one above.
We are intelligent people and don’t need to be told every now and then
what was written in an article was good or not.
or why not start a separate category for just these clarifications so that only those who are interested can go into these blogs.
Looking forward to more heart warming inspiring stories and none about the press anymore please.
Come on show that you are the son of an inspiring author not just a common human being who wants to use this medium to give back at people /articles you don’t like.
Doesn’t suit your age or dignity that you have displayed for all these years.

I could understand your hurt feelings and strongly support your feedback and reaction. We know when an elephant walks down, street dogs bark, but we never expected a newspaper as prestigious and established as the TOI - and that to in editorial page can write such rubbish - “rechristening Shah Rukh’s new quiz show as Paanchvi Fail” - in your name. Had you not clarified, at least some readers might have believed that - after all who has time to find out truth. However, it is not just Yamini Lohia, the editor who has permitted this piece to be printed also has to be taken to task. All are a bunch of hypocrites. Way back they fail after the renowned CEC to undermine his contribution to the society and cleaning of political system.
We strongly support and I really enjoyed the rebuff you have given. Keep up & take care.

Sir,
Do you realize how much of your mind and soul you give into each argument you dwell in? Would you not be better off in investing the precious moments in things more productive, as other readers have pointed out, given your stature and adulation you receive? It’s my belief that a sincere person (fan) should be such who who should be able to point out the futility of your exercise rather than agree to everything that you say or do and hence this reply.
Each time you talk about your parents, it moves me beyond words and I realize, there’s so much to learn from you. And each time you indulge in such a war of words, I realize what I should not learn from you.
I did not know about Mid-day until you mentioned it in your column or for that matter some body named Yamini and now I am sure since you acknowledged their existence and irritation thereof, many people like me will ‘google’ them up and give them more importance than they deserve, thereby diluting all your good, kind, encouraging words and actions.
Why? Why not invest the energies into doing something much more constructive that uplifts the world around you, simply because you are much more capable than probably 90% of people on this planet? And do you deny that the media has been hugely beneficial to you in so many ways? There are bound to be brickbats along with flowers, since no two people are like. So, you will fight everything the ’second’ person has to say since it is not the complete truth? Probably.
Love you unconditionally.
Sincerely,
Ruchi Dutta

Agree with you…these journalists are really digging a deeper hole by their continuous lies. Most of them don’t even know whats happening out there…which is why I can understand AB’s absolute frustration at their stupidity and moreso because they have a public platform to do this. The other scary thing is that the public will lap up the lies these corrupt journalists serve up. How does one stop this????!!! Dear Mr Bachchan
At the outset, let me start by Congratulating you on your great success and the great stature that you have acquired in your life time - a result I am sure of your great talent, hardwork and above all the divine grace of God. And it precisely because of these things that I would like to point out a few things - of course many would not agree but thats their prerogative and yours -
- Sir you are a man of stature and achievement - there will be many who would speak against you for various reasons - personal? professional? political? And you most definitely would have a right to feel aggrieved by it all - BUT -
- It is precisely because of that stature I feel, that you are required to rise above the pettiness - let the petty be petty! But you who are on a higher platform, much more is to be expected from you - its the price of greatness - rightly or wrongly! You are expected - the common man expects you to be not so common! Let the small remain small - they do what they do - do you need to do the same? You are already BIG!
- Miss Yamini (dont know her!) has a right to her bread and butter too - is it wrong to be paid? You earn a living too - all of us do! If she has done you wrong - all the others who have done you wrong - it is a reflection on THEM not on you, why sully yourself and tarnish your hands with the same dirt? Unfair? Perhaps yes - but unfortunately its not Utopia and if your patience has run out its understandable - but - all of us are ‘SAD’ in some way or the other…..
- Never thought I would ever post on you blog - never thought I might even ready it - but there you are and here I am - if you do read it, I would be grateful, if not - thats well and good too!
God Bless you and all the rest of humanity-

Regarding this topic you have given the right reply. I think in our country it has now become a fashion of just poking famous people and hogging the limelight. Hi,
About time. This is the only way to deal with people that think that they can benefit from the misery they bestow on others with their lies. I am glad that you have now decided to put right what others have made their lifes work which is to mislead and misuse the position that they enjoy because you exist in the profession that you do.
I look forward to many more writers feeling the same pain that you and your colleagues have suffered for many years.
There is right and wrong in this world and everyone choses the path they decide to go on and if it is the wrong one then you have to be accountable for what you do and if it is the right path then you will benefit and for many years all these journalists chose the wrong path and there would come a day when someone would say enough, that is what you did.
Let the next one present himself, herself or themselves.

Absolutely Love it.
Give it to them…yeah !!!
A nameless thing called Lohia feels she has the rights/guts to make snide remarks about AB? I dont think so…..she deserves all our ridicule !!
Yamini….reporters (?) like you are the reason why the credibility of the media has gone to dogs !!!

Hello,
I loved the way “GURUKANT DESAI”(or say DHIRUBHAI AMBANI) dealt with such newspaper articles, he just gave them more details for his GOOD WORK and I think you should also do that..
They are too small for you, your work and your FAN base which includes ME!!!
Anyway, When are you coming to Ahmedabad? I am waiting .. and My expression will be the same this time too..(Mouth Open in awe that you are really in front of me)
Have a Nice day.. and a Good Morning( without any papers saying anything absurd about you
)

You go, Amitji. Tell them! Rumor mongering dogs (or should I say cats: meow)have no place in print. You are perfectly entitled to take offense and they are lucky you don’t sue them for slander.

Dear Big B,
Another point I think is that these journalists are USING you. Millions of your FANS visit this site daily / hourly to read about you. You’re giving these journalist a chance to be known through your reactions on what silly things that they write about you.
They are getting free fame via you as you publish their article to millions of your fans who visit your site.
Have a think on this and see whether I am correct or not.
Yours,
Raj from Tanzania (Now UK)

Amitabhji,
what a well written post. Clearly you don’t intend to personally vilify the journalist - but intend to put in place that journalistic tendency of slander.
I just read my name in the list you blog respondents you provided. You made my day
Wish you a long life,
Pinak

Dear Amitji,
I live in London and whenever I tune in to any Indian News Channels…..All I find is “10% News and 90% Rubbish”. They make up their own stories……without investigating or varifying the details…….and by doing so, they are actually misleading the general public about Celebrities and their personal & professional life.
U have given a very good reply to Yamini Lohia’s baseless allegations………I know that U don’t need to respond to them or prove your innocence to these journalists but someone would have to take the initiative to teach them a lesson or else they will go on and on about the same to earn their bread & butter.
By repling to them……..U r actually making your fans & general public aware of the facts & reality behind each and every allegations……..I hope other celebrities also come out like this and give their views & replies to their fans & the general public through their blogs & websites.
Best of Luck.

Dear Amitji,
Ultimate answer… simply “Brilliant”…. I hope after reading your response that Yamini must be cringing herself in a pot of Hole… these lot deserve to be locked up in confinement for infinity… as they missuse their power and are capable for creating unwanted wars…
With love and Respect.

Dear Mr. Amitabh Bachchan,
I am a BIG FAN of yours since I was 3 years old (the time when I started to understand what is a film) and at that time I really thought you fought real and used to cry when you died in Sholay. Then I came to know that it was all just fake and I was so happy.
To tell you the trust I am such a big fan yours that whenever there is a movie starring you is screened on any channel I have to drop everything and watch it.
Kudos to your blog.
Kind Regards
Kulin Shah

Amitji,
I feel that you are too important and public to react to Yamini’s writings or should i say writhings. I feel you should reserve your energy for much greater causes which you can deliver and are doing for the world at large. Trivial articles cannot harm you. We know that the animosity between you and SRK is media created and two mature , honest individuals may not necessarily take a liking for each other but need a lot of effort to detest each other to the extents reports say.
I for one feel that you need not react to these provocations. Though it might be a good opportunity to clarify your stand through the blog such slander need not be taken heed.
Your opinion on this.
