My father, acknowledged as a great Hindi poet, wrote his autobiography in four volumes and literary minds unanimously accepted that his prose was better than his poetry. Many however are unaware that even though he wrote in Hindi, he was a professor in the English Department at the Allahabad University and later the first Indian to do his PhD in English Literature from Cambridge. His thesis - WB Yeats and Occultism gave him his doctorate in 1954.
My father came from very humble beginnings. He studied by a lantern at night and walked several miles to conduct tutions in order to feed his family. His struggle through out his life and his determination to succeed in what he took up have always been propelled through his immense will power.
A dissertation that would normally have taken four years was completed in two, simply because he would have been unable to sustain himself due to the paucity of funds. He worked 18 hours in the day, at times sitting on a desk, on the floor and even standing. He constructed a special table where he would when tired of sitting, stand and work.
He prepared seven drafts of his thesis. In pencil. The ink required for the job would have cost him. And when he returned from England, instead of bringing us children the customary toys and games to play, he brought along the biggest and greatest gift I ever received from him. The seven pencilled drafts of his thesis.
“This”, he said with utmost pride “is all that I could afford to bring you”.
We have those drafts safely sealed and kept away as a testimony of his labor. Not one of the hundreds of films I have done will ever compare, or in substance ever match, the strength and value of those writings.
When he wrote in his study at Willingdon Crescent in Delhi after we moved there, he would often put up a small painting outside the door of his room. It was an indication for us that he was not to be disturbed. There were times when I never saw him for days, even though we lived in the same house.
There were no computers then and no typewriters for him either. Everything was hand written. He guarded his writing tools with the possessiveness of a lover. If on occasion we would accidently tamper with his pen or pencil there was severe punishment in store.
His discipline and will towards his work was prime. Nothing else had the importance to distract him. During one of the many earthquakes that have shaken up Delhi, we had all screamed and run out into the open. He had remained calm and concentrated. As the earth shook with frightening ferocity he quietly walked out from a back door in his room and slid back to his chair and to work after it was over, as we panicked for his well being, stationed at a little distance from the house on the lawn.
When he willed something, nothing could alter his commitment towards accomplishing the desired result.
In his early years he gave one of his poetic works to be published by a printing house. Not satisfied by the accounts of the sale of the book, he discovered that he was being cheated in his royalty. After many unsuccessful attempts to extract his due, he got on to his bicycle, the only mode of transport he possessed and rode throughout the city speaking and announcing out to every one, known unknown; every little thing, trees, stones, pillars, posts, every object that he encountered, that the owners of the publishing house were cheats !
He writes in his biography that within 6 months it just so happened that the publishing house went bankrupt and shut. Poetic justice he felt or the strength of his will or the honesty of his karma !
During the years after he passed his 60’s he quite by accident developed a new interest. His morning walks took him to undeveloped areas of the Diplomatic Enclave where now all the Embassies of the World are housed in New Delhi. The terrain was wild and full of stray rocks and stones. He would see something hidden in some of them, bring them home and with a gentle touch of a paint brush accentuate that rock to bring out a human form or a bird or just a figure. They would adorn the front verandah of the house.
Unable to carry it he pushed a huge rock every day a few feet for six months till it reached our doorstep, painted a few lines re positioned it and it became Garuda. It lies at our entrance in Prateeksha as an inspiration of not just his craft but the will and determination and the simple logic of transporting it from its wilderness, some distance, to our home.
When physical pain overtook his writing hand he would through will, transfer it to his other hand and continue writing. The unused hand getting treatment for pain.
I am blessed to have had him as my inspiration, my example and one I strive each day to emulate.
His words teach me each day a new lesson -
Jo beet gayi so baat gayi
Jeevan may ek sitatra tha,
Mana woh behad pyara tha
Woh toot gaya toh toot gaya.
Amber ke aanan ko dekho,
Kitne iske tare toote,
Kitne iske pyare chhoote.
Jo chhot gaye phir kahan mile
Par poocho toote taron ka,
Kab amber shok manata hai,
Jo beet gayo so baat gayi.
What has happened has happened !
In your life there was a star,
Agreed that it was bright and beautiful.
If it has broken today it is broken !
Look at the courtyard of the sky,
How many of its stars break away from it,
How many of its stars leave it and go away.
But of all the stars and loved ones the sky loses,
Have you ever seen the sky mourn for them !
What has happened has happened !
Let us not mourn for the absence of loved ones.
In life, life happens. What happens, happens.
Look to tomorrow with fresh thoughts, bright ideas and not be remorseful of the loss of an opportunity.
In a forward to his collection of works my father wrote - and this is my translation of his thoughts in Hindi -
‘ My life has been the life of an ordinary man and this I consider my greatest privilege and my greatest joy. If I were to get another opportunity to live my life again as per my wishes, I would never want to hold a desire to live any others but my own life, with all its shortcomings and failures and regrets. For it is only then I shall be able to experience the oneness with the ordinary man.
In this wide world there is no greater binding than the experience of being alone.
In this wide world there is no greater mukti than the experience of being one with the others.
The best and considered mukti is this - sabse yukt hokar mukt - to remain one with others and yet be mukt, away, delivered. ‘
My oneness with all my readers is my greatest deliverance -

Dear Amitji
I am unable to understand why all the people that is to say press, politicians, and others are after you and your family. It is really sickening and not in good taste. A good article with constructive criticism of one’s work is always welcome and good to read. But not this sadistic stories.
But you should feel great that not only the good work of you and the family in industry is source of livelihood of so many people around the globe but these people earn their bread from your criticism as well.
They have made habit of bashing you and enjoying. It is good that you are giving fitting reply through a very powerful medium without any one moderating or giving his/her own interpretation of your reaction.
Life has to move on. Would like to understand and hear from you on spiritual things and other important subjects in life and learn from you whatever best we can.
Love

Dear Mr. Bachchan,
It is indeed heartful to see the love and respect that you possess for your parents. We have been subject to continuous news feeds from various media highlighting this fact about you, sometimes critically… some times positively, but to learn about it first hand is a gentle reassurance.
I somehow feel that with the advent of Modern technology and lifestyle, where children get to spend less and less time with their parents, this respect is eroding fast. It is unnatural, almost, now a days to hear such passion about one’s parents. Perhaps it is unfashinable to express it even if you feel it.
Thank you for keeping the assurance and belief lighted in our hearts. I hope we can replicate the same respect to our parents and hope agaisnt hope that our children would do the same.
Love and Respect

Hello Mr. Bachchan,
first of all, i m a big big fan of yours and much bigger fan of abhishek bachchan.. he is simply the best..nothing compares to him..
i just want to tell you that u need not answer to all this crap being said about you or your family… i m sad to say that i used to think u r a very humble person (I still want to think so) but seeing ur responses to some recent controversies, in your interviews you seem to be very rude to media and in a way to your fans… just be the same… we love u all… i dont think i m the one who should be suggesting you anything but just felt like telling you… rest is up to u… we love u in whatever u do…

Dear Sir,
Your prior artile has floored me to the end. I’m your biggest fan and will remain forever, but I enjoyed the last line you had written “take the blows or get out of the ring”. Simply devastating. I’m sure now not many people will take up the courage to pen down relentless items against you which has got no meaning, no link to relaity but only essayed to gain publicity and arose wrong opinion about you. Keep rocking boss, I’m sure no one can even dare to even enter the ring now. Hail the messiah.

Its the first time i am writing something to a person like you. Its a great honor and i feel glad and proud. Well, its a good article, it should be published and every one must read it, whenever we write anything about our elders, it gives the person pleasure and satisfaction. I am sure enough after writing all these about your father, you must feel happy and satisfied. This is something we should do. Parents are valuable and we must take care of them, wherever they are!!!
May his rest soul in peace. AMIN!

hallo sir,
these thoughts say a lot abt your father , but i would like to ask when there was an earthquake in delhi why he didnt panic, was he thinking that if anything untoward has to happen to him that will happen even if he runs out of his house etc., and that if his death is destined in his house he would prefer dying in his room where he has his diaries and whole life’s work.

Hello sir,
Am too small an individual to call a man of your stature with first name though I would hv loved to call u “Big B.” I am awed by your performance over the years and so is my daughter since the age of 2 - when she heard your voice on FM for the first time promoting KBC 2 and after that on seeing u on TV doing the show!!! Now she is 5 and is still a big fan!! In fact to appease me at times - she would say, Pa, you look like Amitabh Bachchan.” When Abhishek Bachchan comes on screen she recognises him as “Amitabh Bachchan ka beta.”
Its quite unfortunate that I hv not seen you even though I live in Bombay. It will be the moment of my life to catch a glimpse some time…..
Lastly, though I know this fact does not require assertion from my side - but still want to say - U are far far ahead than all these current day so called Super Stars - be it SRK or any one else. THese guys are not even comparable to the “A” of Amitabh Bachchan!!! Long live Big B

It is very nice that someone in your line makes sure he spends time with his family, nor does he forget his family. Many people here say, that at times, you have to “ignore” your family, and sacrifice relations in order to do anything in films. I am glad that you guard such values.

Dear Mr. B,
I am so obliged that you shared such precious moments of your life with me. I am sure people who have not had the opportunity to read your fathers works or meet him, will now be inspired by him through your memories of your father.
So true when your father said “Jo beet gaya so baat gayi.†No use crying over what has happened. I don’t know who said these words but my father also always reminds us “Lo attet se utna jitna poshak hai.†He always tells us that it is of no use trying to remember what you had and mourn over it. Look towards the future and think of ways how you can make it better.
My father had also been through a lot of tough times, even in his time of need he always thought of helping others. My father is my biggest inspiration, no doubt now we do have our share of difference of opinion on how we should run our business and some very elongated altercations.
Thank you for being an inspiration for me and to millions of others around the world. I hope I will be able to inspire some people around me in turn.

Dr Harivansh Rai Bachchan was great poet as well as down to earth person, he was the first person from India who done Phd in ENGLISH from Cambridge University and then he was great poet of HINDI SAHITYA.
The same gene is in you, being a most popular face and proud of nation, you dont have 1% ego or domination nature. I am regular reader of your personal articles or interviews which reveals that what person you are. I can Only say you are NORTH POLE STAR of UNIVERSE who twinkes from far and beyond comparision.
Thanks for sharing some line of “Jo beet gayee so baat gayee”, i read this poem during my school days and i was so inspired by those thoughts.

Dear Mr. Big B,
With due regards I would like to draw your kind attention to those few lines as mentioned below:-
I am a big big fan of you since I encountered with Hindi Cinema and still I don’t miss any movie or interview or even ads. For this loyalship I always been criticised by my wife and only daughter (they are not your fans-sorry to say).
Since your blog started I am reading those regularly and now have decided to open my heart for you with these personal views….. I am really surprised to the media and yellow journalists by dragging you into any odds you undertake with their very little knowledge and hats off to you for having so polite in turn to them.
The only observation of me for you is the public dosti (brotherhood) with Mr Amar Singh. And am sorry to say is not taken by all your fans in good taste. Rather it narrows your public image. You have decided to stay away from politics - is the best step you taken in your life, but appearing with Mr Singh says something else.
Being a big fan of yours I know the way your fans follow you…Everything you do is immediately adopted by all who worships you (fans like me). I am not saying to stay away from Mr Singh, just request you to not to share public stages with him. In India every elite is connected or forcefully dragged into some political connections. Just have a look at the Sachin Tendulkar’s life (one can never attach him with any political person/party whatsoever). You are worshiped as a demi God in India as well as many parts of this beautiful world–just because of being the Greatest ever Actor born in India and not for those controversies with Gandhi family or being attached to Mr Amar Singh. rather it pulls you to the pool of those.
You know politicians are not taken in very idiolistic ways in India and just being attached to one of them makes you stand in their catagory. Can’t you count the number of controversies arised just because of your attachment with Mr Singh? Why destroying your own image then? may be he is a brother to you, but appearing in public with him just provides him the milage and loss for your image.
Please have an hour and recollect your life with Mr Singh these days and please have a word for this or if you think worth to mail me at vickys_enigma@yahoo.co.in.
thanks and Regards to You and Jaya Bhavi

Dear Mr. Bachchan
Thank you for sharing the story of your father’s work and the hard work and determination. The most profound indication (to me) of his sheer will and determination was the ‘rock that became Garuda’. I think that story will stay with me as I go through my own struggles in life. Thank you.
You’ve been an icon to many of us, while we were growing up. We always look to our icons to inspire us. Your icon was your father, and you’re passing on his words, your words, what you’ve learnt through life to us. It is really lucky for us - to live in this day and age, where we can learn from those we’ll never see or meet.
I admire your commitment to writing on the blog regularly, and after reading about your father I can truly understand where it comes from, it’s the value of our land - when we give our word - when we make a commitment - we should keep it. It’s not easy to do this - especially for someone as busy as you - that’s why people (read journalists) scratch their heads and go - there must be some reason. There has to be a multi-billion rupee (I was going to write dollar) contract!! There has to be! It simply can’t be true that Mr. Amitabh Bachchan, would find time to write inspite of his busy schedule! Little do they know that you would *make* time, even if that meant sleeping a little less, or writing from the sets or…whatever it is that you do to keep this blog going!
My heartfelt thanks to you - for sharing these insights, about your life, about your values. I would love to hear more from you about the craft of movies - about the impact that good movies can have, and about how to make such movies, or rather what it takes to make such movies!
Regards,
Tunna (Canada)

Dear Amitji, How could I express my gratitude; you hve done a great service by narrating a few anecdotes from the life of your father. We never knew he weilded a brush also. I have heard some body saying that Gandhiji was annoyed with Bachchanji on his Madhushala as the poem was encouraging the youth to drinking. We would like to know what actually transpired. I believe the readers must be interested in knowing your comments in this regard. I request/suggest to devote one day’s blog in a month on narrating some pages from the life of your father, his association with Panditji, his associations with the icons of his time like Sumitranadan Pant Mahadevi Verma and many others.PLEASE!And till then take good care of your Health.

Shri Harivanshrai Bachchan was without doubt one of the greatest poets/thinkers of this country. His Madhushala is one of the best creations that one can come across. My uncle gifted me last year, and even with my limited intelligence, I was able to see through the inherent greatness of thoughts and philosophy expressed in the book. I still try to read a few “panktiyan” every week. If I had to use the lingo of my generation, I’d say Bachchan Rocks
“Bair karate mandir masjid,
Paas mein laati Madhushala”
Genius! Gimme more of “Haalawad”, the world badly needs it.
I am a big fan of you, but I entirely agree when you say none of your films can compare with the strength of his writing.
By the way, could you please let me know about the name of his autobiography, I’d love to read it.

hallo sir, going by the poem of your dad it surely is the story of life i think you should take the poem further as after every star which goes away and a new star enters you see it in generations say you after your dad and now abhishek and than your grand sonin future. its not as important to stop life after they are gone but to remeber the good time you had oportunity to pass with them in life. sir we can relate the story to any successfull man also as in life you have ups and downs forever no one can give hits you get flops also so those who think they are king should know story of life and be humble.it was realy nice reading poem.thanks harsh

Kitna sundar kaha hai …jo beet gaya so beet gaya …. Most of our problems lies in the past. So remebering and carrying the weight of past kills the joy of life. You father has a great vision which inspires to look for future. Only the learnings of past should carry forward and leave all garbage behind for a bright future. Life becomes easy and smiling

Could you please publish the transcripts of that speech for all of us. If you have the video clip of the speech, you could upload the same for all of us to see.

Our ancestors live on through their words and the values they have taught us. When you take a step, you walk with and for all your ancestors that have been on this earth. When you say their words, you do the same. I guess that’s why the sky doesn’t mourn, because even after that one star leaves him, it can always sense his presence there.
We might not see our loved ones that have passed on but that connectedness, that oneness is always there. Some part –our soul, our conscience, understands this much than our mind and physical body ever could.
I agree that you have created that same connection with us through this blog. You have touched our conscience through your words. Years will go by and this experience will be forever etched in us.
Thank you for taking the time to write everyday.

Tumnay Tan Man De Daala Tha
Wah Toot Gaya To Toot Gaya
Madiralya Kay Aangan Ko Dekho
Kitne Pyale Hil Jaate Hain
Gir Mitti Main Mil Jaate Hain
Jo Girte Hain Kab Uthte Hain

Kab Madiralaya Pachtata Hai

Lehron se dar kar nauka paar nahi hoti
himmat karne waalon ki haar nahi hoti
Nanhi cheenti jab daana lekar chalti hai
chadhti deewaron par sau baar fisalti hai
Mann ka vishwas ragon mein saahas banta hai
chadh kar girna, gir kar chadhna na akharta hai
Akhir uski mehnat bekar nahi hoti
koshish karne waalon ki haar nahi hoti…
Dubkiyan sindhu mein gota khor lagaata hai
ja ja kar khaali haath laut aata hai
Milte na sahaj hi moti paani mein
behta doona utsaah issi hairaani mein
Mutthi uski khaali har baar nahi hoti
himmat karne waalon ki haar nahi hoti…
Asafalta ek chunauti hai sweekar karo
kya kami reh gayi dekho aur sudhaar karo
Jab tak na safal ho neend chain ki tyago tum
sangharshon ka maidaan chhodh mat bhago tum
Kuch kiye bina he jai jai kaar nahi hoti

Shri Amar Singh Ji
This is for you. With due respect I wish to say the following to you.
It may be true that you happen to be very close and dear to the Bachchan family and in return you have a lot of love and goodwill for them. Don’t you think sometimes they would like to be left alone as the family God has made them to be. But You seem to be in tow everywhere they go. Are you so inseparable and have nothing else to do? This is quite irritating as you do not look to be one of them. Is your concern for their well being so paramount that you ignore your own business and other official work. Or this is your sole raison d’être? I am sure left to themselves the Bachchan family can look after and defend themselves very well. Shower all you love and affection on Bachchans but at least try not to be publicly so visibly attached to them like some Siamese twin but without any resemblance whatsoever to you brother. Your constant presence is not doing the family any good but lowering their prestige.

The fading scrawl accentuated here and there by a sharp loop or embedded punctuation marks….my mother’s fiery History notes….more like essays…..dated 1946, FC College, Lahore…Nothing is dearer to me than turning the leaves of her notebooks, letters, snapshots of college plays and picnics and her heroes, Gandhiji, Panditji, Maulana Kalam Azad, Tilak and Bhagat Singh…I keep them because I love everything to do with her; she kept them to remind us of the evil face of politically perverted nationalism and us v/s they - because many of those happy collegians, barely a year later, were either massacred in the carnage of the partition or like her, escaped with the help of ‘the enemy.’ She used to warn us against the politics of the Shiv Sena, Advani’s duplicity as well as the opportunist sycophants who hijacked the Congress long ago. She had such spirit and zest for life. And yes, one of her favourite phrases was, Jo beet gayi, so baat gayi! I never knew where it came from until I read your post. Her other favourite quote was from John Donne’. “No man is an island…ask not for whom the bell tolls….it tolls for thee and thee and thee.”
From her did I learn that each one of us must pay a heavy price if we stand by and silently watch somebody else being victimised - for whatever reason.
Please keep your parents and all they stood for, alive through your posts. What better tribute to the legacy of the poet and philosopher who believed in filling Life to the brim. “….is paar priya tum ho, madhu hai, us paar na jaane kya hoga?”

Amitji,
Your write up on your dad reminded me about an incident which happened 20 yrs back in my life.I was studying in 10th standard.I had a sanskrit teacher who was also a freedom fighter. He was a great admirer of your father. One day we had an arguement.Who is greater?-Harvanshrai Bachchan or Amitabh Bachchan.I being a fanatic supported you.According to my late sanskrit teacher,Harvanshrai Bachchan was greater. The main reason for that well,to convey emotions through written words and convincing readers is tough.Whereas to convey emotions through acting and convincing viewers is easier.Actors also have the support of background music, various props etc.For a poet/writer he does not have that advantage.
My wife’s late grandfather Vishnukant shastri who was a great scholar and philosopher used to admire the way your father recited poetry. He also had great words for you.I am quoting his words”Amitabh Bachchan bahut prabhavshalli vyakttitiv hain”

1.That you have substantial effect over huge mass of indian people ,so your appeals do efect them
2.Because of your father, coz he is also a petriotic person , and as a son of such a great personality it’s your responsibility to complete his work
3.That you are a Indian.

Dear Sir,
a thoroughly fascinating post. Personal and philosophical. Food for thought.
I always felt how we all reach out to each other, but everyone stays alone, in his own head, in his own world, and it depends on us if we experience it as the ultimate limitation, or as ‘mukti’.
And I learned that my (nick)name also means ’sky’ in Sanskrit, which made my day!
Sir, I have a request. Please don’t start to write fiction or your biography! It would take up your time and we could not have the wonderful experience of this blog.
But (and I am sure you do), please save your messages and blog posts, and make them into a book one day. Maybe not the press coverage ones, but the ones like today’s. Having them in print (if not in pencil
) would be the biggest and greatest gift we could ever receive from you…
With ever growing respect and love,

Dear Mr. Bachchan.
how nice to start my day by reading such an inspiring and enlightening post. i love reading words that carry the philosophy of life, yea really ‘ what has happened has happened’…no chance of changing anything…and remorse is a very harsh feeling…so we need to try to accept our loss, our mistakes, our inabilities to deal with life.
iam overwhelmed by how much you are influenced by your father, and by how much you abide to his teachings and thoughts…that’s only because that nowadays people do not do this, their parents are old fshioned, and their thoughts are old thoughts…maybe they forgot that ‘old is gold’.
while i was reading about your father’s life, i was thinking of my grandfather, who also ‘came from very humble beginnings’, and struggled alot in life, and who became a very successful man in his work as well… with suffering and struggle comes wisdom, and the deep understanding of life.
finally, thanks for sharing, and for giving your fans a glimpse of your life and thoughts.
with love forever,

I am reminded of a song from the old talat collection which I just rediscovered-
Pehlu mein paraye dard basa kar , hasna hasana seekh zara, tu hasna hasaana seekh zara
Toofan se keh do ghir ke uthe, hum pyar ke deep jalate hain
Hain sabse madhur wo geet jinhe, hum dard ke sur mein gaate hain.
The empathy we carry in our hearts for others should never lessen our enthusisam to live a life full of good cheer, because we lessen the pain of others through it. I see that Dr Bachchan echoed similar thoughts.
With best wishes.

Dear Mr. Bachchan:
It is only recently I could find some time to read your blogs. Initially after readig one or two I went backwards and read most of them. Your blogs are becoming something of a habit now. We deffinitely learn from some one who has lived across many vagaries of life and against many odds achieved himalayan success. But one minor point which struck me is that when you start on getting your point across against the media personnel or others, you are not very articulate or diplomatic and are not conveying your angst with the subtlety required. Many persons in our country who try to emulate you would feel glad if you can get your message across little less bluntly. I hope I am being understood. This reinforces the image of your persona constructed in our minds and this should not be allowed to be diluted.
Thanks & Best wishes

Dearest Amitji :
Koti koti namaskars. Thank you for sharing with us your memories of your dad. He is truly a saint for his words and deeds inspire and motivate. Please do educate us with such “golden nuggets” time and again.
Also, please let us know your views on “karma”? Do you believe it is as simple and straightforward as “as you sow so shall you reap”? If this is true, then why do bad things happen to good people? Why does the one who is honest, hard working, god-loving, law-abiding and duty consicous always face obstacles and stuggles before he reaches his goals?
Why is it that people assume that those who are afflicted by physical difficulties and challenges in life are “suffering because of their bad karma in a past life”?
Have you noticed that almost all godmen and spiritual people have suffered physical afflictions? Why?
I am facing problems because of mistakes made by doctor’s/surgeon. It is now almost 9 years that I have not been able to sit. I was permanently retired on medical grounds in Novemver 2003. I faced a lot of these comments. I always smiled and replied “you must be really lucky to remember your past life and its associated karma. I don’t and so I cannot tell for sure if i did anything bad or not in my past life”
I have faced many problems but never “suffered”. That is by God’s grace. So how does one explain this dichotomy of having physical problems and enduring as against suffering.
Your insights are eagerly looked forward to as they will help me evolve. My viewpoint has been “What we have is God’s gift to us. What we make of it is out gift to God? Faith is the keyword here. Of course, it does not mean we lead a passive life based on reaction but an active life based on pro-active action and acceptance.”
Your father’s words “Jeevan hai to sangarsh hai” is the truth of life. As long as there is life, there is hope and hope gives us the strength to forge ahead.
Lots of love and giant panda hugs to all. Take care. God Bless.
Shakuntala SB

PS: I am not sure if you read my earlier comments in your other posts where I mentioned my request for some assistance. If you can help. Thanks.

The poem - Jo Beet Gayee So Baat Gayee is a part of NCERT curriculum nad thats where I read it. From then to Madhushala to Dasdwaar se Sopaan Tak, I have read most of Dr. Harivansh Rai Bachan’s work. And contrary to what somoene told him, his poetry touches me more !
Its better reading - your blog, that is, when you are not writing about co-stars or media but rather writing about something thats close to your heart. Swakchanda, Unmukt, Sabe Yukt hokar Mukt!

How are you?
For last few days, I use to read your Blog & find it a good platform to communicate with a person like you who is beyond reach. I really appreciate your work in Hindi Movies so far. Moreover, I admire you as a good human being. You achieved so much in your life, still you are down to earth.
I have strong desire to direct Hindi Movies. Let’s see when I am able to do that.

Respected Amitji,
That was fantastic and so heart-warming. Please continue to write about your father and his teachings rather than lambasting all those who write against you. Why don’t you start a separate blog for that? A blog just between you and those who write against you so that the rest of your readers can read what’s truly inspiring, uplifting and positive.
Affly,
Ann

Dear Big B,
Indeed our elderly are our inspiration in life. We get to learn a lot in our homes tself with little things that a family does together.
today i want to share what i learnt from my grand father who is a famous poet ( Shri Krishna Mittra). He used to recite poems with your father long ago.
He made me to learn :
aankh jinki nahi,unki aankhein bano..
Pankh bin kuch parindon ki paankhein bano..
jinko chalne mein hoti hain kathinayiaan,
ban sako to bano unki parchayiaan
jinko baaju ko thoda sa bal chahiye,
ya jinhein zindagi mein pehal chahiye..
unke har kaam mein tum sahare bano,
roshni ke liye chaand taare bano…
I have been following his words since my childhood. I am really happy to tell you that he is my inspiration for life… he is the one whom i find standing by my side everytime… he is the one who tought me to fight back… he is the one who told me to stay calm… and he is the one who loves me the most and he is the one whom i love the most…
he is not keeping well these days .. i am fighting hard to make him get his strength back…
I NEED YOUR HELP….
if possible then please try to meet him.. ..
if possible for you then do let me know about your visit to delhi’s house through your blog…or through your mail…
i would be indebted if this happens…
i dont want this to happen for my personal intrest but.. i want to see a smile on my grandfather’s face.. ..
he told me once… its his wish to meet you.. the same time he became sad.. he then told me.. why would he meet me??? he is not like his father… he is a global figure.. a celebrity.. why would he meet me?? i am his father’s known person.. but not his…
that is why i want to make him meet you….
waiting for a response..
vibhuti love

Dear Sir,
I do want to add something on it.. everyone knw wach and everything what is written put there.. but the important thing is no one can actually walk on those lines.. These lines r really thin and scary too.. every parent teaches there son to be truthful and be kind, be strong and not to be racial.. but then he does all those thing which r not right.. So he was a man who took that path and showed the world that it is not difficult..
And it was always and inspire reading about the personality so great as he was.. U always get GREAT learning from great people.. I WLD BE REALLY HAPPY IF U PUT IN SOME MORE ABT THE LIFE AND THOUGHTS.. U NEVER KNW IT MIGHT CHANGE SOMEONE’S LIFE…

Amit Sir,
Wonderful.
Poetic memmoirs. Through his autobiography and other published works, we also feel that we know your father to some great extent though you are his son and surely will be knowing much more than anybodyelse in the world. The same rock is told by him and in his own powerful writing and you also have presented it in yourv own powerful writing.
Let me see how long writer Amitabh Bachchan will elude and will not listen to call of nature to publish his literary work.
Let me see how long you can bear self imposed mask of self denial.
One day you have to give tribute to your father’s profession and there is no noble profession that writing as with it one shares thousands of things with millions of people. Its like paying debt of getting life on
