Reference DAY 37(i)
On the sets of ‘Aladin’ above as refered to in DAY 37(i) .
Its midnight almost and I am getting ready to leave for the SiddhiVinayak temple on foot. Tuesday tomorrow and the special aarti of Ganesh. Wonderful moment. Hundreds of Mumbaites on the streets. Walking, mingling with the others, devotional and sincere. Everyone barefoot. A great feeling of unity and oneness !!

Dear BigB,
I bet that today there will be double the number of trekkers on the road, now that you have disclosed you plan of going to the temple.
Juhu - Bandra - Dadar-Prabhadevi route is going to be crowded.
Seriously though, it is great to see you so devoted in your religious inclinations. Too bad the press sometimes makes a mountain of the molehill like during your Tirupati visits……I havent seen you visit Tirupati in the last year. Have you decided against it after all the hullaaboo? Dont give up on what is your democratic right to go to any place of worship you chose to…….It is indeed unfortunate that the some of the archaic laws governing the trust ( Otehrwise a wonderfully managed institution) accords a VIP status to even a MLA of AP legislative assembly but doesn’t want to accord you the VIP status. And the press adds fuel to the fire.

Well .. nice pics and being a techie guy, I think your imagination in 37(1) is a bit too futuristic
But nothing is impossible in science, so someday that might turn into reality.
For this post, I think you should not reveal such information in advance in the hindsight of the terrorist activities in the country. Perhaps, you should include these details once they are over.
This is for your safety as well as the safety of other devotees.

Dear Sir,
thank you for the fascinating pictures of ‘Aladin’ and the set. I’ve seen shoots like that, but only for TV and never yet in a studio of this scale. Very
impressive. And you make a formidable genie!
As European without the knowledge of the “special aarti of Ganesh”, I am fascinated by this aspect of your spirituality - yours and all those others.
How long will you have to walk barefoot?
And what does it mean to you, to be part of that unity?
I am sorry if that last question was too personal. I’d just like to know more.
With love and respect,
yours
Amber

This film looks really good! Will it be release in England?!
I was about to post in reply to day 37(i) but 37(ii) beat me to it!!!
Since my post is going to be probably one of the first few you will see I am going to repost my comment earlier on as I would really like to know the answer to my quetion about your father. Hope fully I will get an answer…
————————————————————————————–
Dear Mr Bachchan
The picture of your son’s film is interesting. Reminded me of mideaval paintings but more bright in tonal value. Sorry but I can only read your entry whenever I get the time so here’s my thought to the last few you have written.
For voting as to whether you should respond to these malicious allegations and comments from the press - , “yes” to some and “no” to others. I admire the way you defend your family. Only you and they know which comments each individual find hurtful the most and would like to give an answer to. Also your relationship with the press has been ongoing for many years and you probably have an inkling to their style of writting and personality too - to gauge which you respond to or not.
Also you talk a lot about individual freedom of expression. Have you ever read Jean-Jacques Rousseau’s “The Social Contract”? There he talks about “free will”. He commenced with these words…”Man is born free, and everywhere he is in chains. One man thinks himself the master of others, but remains more of a slave than they.” Thought this was very interesting as it is so true of society in general. The context may not be the same but the principle apply. Do not allow the press to enslave you by getting too involve in a “tit for tat” with them.
I could comment on Mr Pant’s article but I don’t want to take up valuable space in your blog for a man who clearly does not merit the attention. Besides you can clearly defend yourself from the onlaught of these so called journalist.
Instead do you mind if I ask you a couple of questions? But before I do I just want to write the following sentement.
Your entry of day 35 was yet again a very touching trubute not only to your father’s memory and work but also to a very devoted and dedicated loving son. I both admire and envy this closeness between father and child. I myself have not been blessed to have this type of relationship with my own father. My misfortune was that he died before I was delivered to deal with this world. A father’s love is amiss in my life but still I can understand this bond of unconditional love.
You often qoute extract from your father’s work when you write about him on your blog. I ordered his autobiography, “In The Afternoon Of Time” a few days ago before you mentioned the title in your blog but as yet it has not been delivered. I can only gleam a little of your father’s literary skill from the tidbits you write. He seem not only a good writer but an insightful man who wrote from the core of his very soul, his very being. I am really looking forward to reading the book for myself.
But for now, I’m intrigue, out of all the sources your father had within his grasp, why did he choose “WB Yeats” and “Occultism” for his Doctorate thesis?
What you said about the human brain was also very fascinating. The more we use and sharpen our brain the more it thrive to want to learn. This is a scientific fact and, boy do you sharpen yours! Does your mind ever rest! You seem to be always on the go mentally too it would seem. If we could use 100% of our mental faculty it is unimaginable what we as individual can do. That simply would be awesome.
Anyway, if per chance you will read this, here’s my question again:
I’m intrigue, out of all the sources your father had within his grasp, why did he choose “WB Yeats” and
“Occultism” for his Doctorate thesis?
Would be most appreaciative and grateful if you could….

I am a great fan of yours for years. I don’t think there is a man as stylish and demure as you are (esp at your age). My sons and husband think I am alittle crazy but I have nothing but tons of admiration for you. However I do have a question about this SiddhiVinayak temple that you attend to all the time. I too am a great devotee of Ganeshji and would love to visit this temple. I am in Vancouver Canada and would love to visit there with my family. Will it be conducive for us to visit and offer our prayers at this temple without any hassle or problems? Being foreigners I always have a concern to travel safely with my kids whereever I go. You are a very respectable man who has such an attraction for women of all ages. I am 42 and I have always admired you. It is my ardent wish that I see you in this lifetime and I am hoping that I will when you are here doing your concert in Jul-Aug. I’ve bought 2 of your books and would like to have them autographed by you personally. I am praying day and night for this moment. Hopefully I will have my wish granted.
Thank You for making my bollywood world so worthwhile.

Dear Sir,
Firstly i would like to thank you for the mentioning my name with a vote of thanks in your blog a few days ago . The above pictures are truly amazing for a lay man who im sure like me has never seen what actually goes behind the scenes and how the art of Digital Imaging and Technology has taken over Bollywood which has been the alibi of the West since years now . Sir, i would like to share with you and your readers a few things from my recent trip to Egypt where i was loved by the people , given gifts , helped in times when i needed help be it shopping , eating , hotels , tourists spots , etc only because i was an Indian which is more so known as “The Land of Amitabh Bachchan ” to them . Sir, my father is a lawyer and he happened to have a picture of you with him taken a some party in his phone which got the Egyptians so excited that we even got to take pictures of Egyptian Mummies ( the dead ones lol) in museums just because of your picture . Sir, i am sure you must have experienced their warmth when you visited the country in 1990’s as mentioned by you the other day but what i saw as a common man of India was mind boggling to the extent of making me think how someone can be so famous in a country where cinema is still so archaic in terms of Hindi Movies and Sir believe you me they are still watching movies like Sholay and Zanjeer and are imagining you as you looked back in the 80’s (well not much has changed except that your son is as old as those movies) as your latest ones like Bhootnath will probably release there in the year 2015 . Sir, I sincerely think you should visit once again as the younger generation is still mesmerised by you in a country full of Western Tourists and it is a proud feeling to be famous like no other in a place like that . Good Night . YoursTruly, Lavin Hirani

Respected Mr Bachchan,
It is an absolute honour to write to you. You might have received a lot of replies for your blogs nad a lot of people might have expressed their undying love and affection for you, and I am no different.
I am just absolutely thrilled at the very prospect of you, probably reading my comments. That in itself is a huge achievement for me, Sir.
Wow, I feel as if I am conversing with you and am literally out of words to express myself. I will give it a shot though
Your time is actually precious, so I will try and keep my comments short, but I really don’t know if I will succeed in the same as I am overwhelmed at this point in time.
You are an inspiration for me Sir, and I respect you for the kind of man you are. It is a small sentence, but has a very high degree of gratitude and awe in it. I am not a fan, just because of your acting prowess, but also for your conduct, your approach towards life, your demeanour, your passion, your grit, your ability to stand up for what is right, your family values, your personal values, your down to earth nature, your charisma, your personality, your command over the language that you speak, your exhuberance… and the list is endless.
I don’t have any means to have a “dialogue” with you, but if that opportunity arises, I will be an extremely happy man. I have grown up watching your movies and let me just say this as I start to conclude my note here, and this comes right from the bottom of my heart, with a deep sense of respect and humility.
According to me, ” There never was, never will be an entertainer like Mr Amitabh Bachchan “. You are the true superstar in every sense of the word. With due respect to all the actors in the past and present, you were, are and will always be the best.
Sir, I wish you All The Very Best in anything and everything that you do.
Yours Humbly,
Naimish Majmudar

Respected Amitji:
I have seen most of your films and I think I am your biggest critics inspite of the fact that I like your personality, style, acting style and your blogs! Do you think it is bad? I liked you in so many movies ( I have seen most of your movies on first day and first show), but sametime I express my feeling when I don’t like your movies. I am living in California now. I have twin teenage daughters (Palak and Parisha) who did not know anything about you. One day I spent about one hour to explain about you and your movies, now they know everything about you. It is very hard for me to explain my third 7 year daughter (Shivani) that Amitabh Bachchan is not Shahru Khan’s father! Everytime she see your picture or movie, she is telling me ” I know this actor, he is Shahrukh Khan’s father!!” I guess she got this idea from Kabhie Khushi Kabhi Gum movie, but some time I think she is right you are his father in acting field. Today we are going to watch Bhootnath, and Shivani has selected the movie this week. This is my first post in your blog, please forgive me if I have wrote anything upsetting you.

Sir,
i have read mashushalla many times.
even had the audio cassete by Manna de.
actually the audio cassete has a few lines by your father.
must say his voice was powerful and amazing vibrations. i infact told my Dad that it would be best if the entire album was sung by him only (with greatest respects to Manna De Sir)
to my perception, when Shri harivanshrai Bachchan speaks of Haala, he may be speaking of GOD.
“raah pakadkar tu chala chal….paa jayega Madhushala”
Good thing is that one could take Haala and madhushaala to be any goal of life.
in fact i have been looking for his qutobiography in Hindi but not found.
it is 2 volumes i believe , “Kya bhoolon kya yaad karun” and “neev jas nirman phir phir”.
will catch a copy the moment i get one.

Amitji,
You dont cease to surprise me, when most people are eager to finish a hard days work and head home and relax, you are now off to the SiddhiVinayak temple, there are so many things people should learn from you on how to conduct their lives, I am trying to do the same, with so much going on in my life at the same time, I guess I need to have better time management. Any suggestions:)
Thanks for sharing the pictures they are great, I had a big curiousity about what the character would look like, is the shooting for this movie coming to an end??
All the best always

With lots and lots of respect Sir— have a good time walking to the temple, I don’t want to be negative but tomorrow someone will write about it you being superstitious and all that. They will not see the intention as you have described it the oneness and unity. But we can’t let our life be dictated by other peoples’ reaction. Sir I can’t be at the temple but I will pray from here for my family, for mankind and you.
Sir, you are hundred times busier than me yet you find time to write everyday and here I have hard time keeping up with you. I read it religiously but there are days when I miss writing you and I feel guilty. I think about it what I am going to write but I miss here or there but my prayers and good wishes are always with you.
Sir, Aladin pictures are awesome, you look terrific. Sir, could you please explain what does “Drona” mean? It is unusual title, has it got something to do with Dronacharya?
Ever since you started mentioning about Babujee’s work here or there, I have taken all four parts of the biography out and I read them from anywhere few pages every day.
It does not bother me that my name wasn’t there when you were acknowledging other bloggers but when did I make a deal with you that I will only admire and respect and love you when you would reciprocate, I didn’t.
April 19th and 20th 2003 when I spent time with you here in Vancouver, I can live with those memories for rest of my life. You gave me ample love and respect on those two days.
With lots and lots of respect, Deepak from Vancouver ( Canada )

Sir, One very frank question…Do you act in these kind of movies, say Aladin, out of your genuine interest in the script or just for purely commercial value.
I hope you too wud be missing the power scripts and stories which were written during the early days of ur career. Most of the movies you are doing these days seriously lack all the qualities which a “good cinema” is made up of.
I guess at this stage of career, money wudn’t be much of an issue for u, then the only thing i think of behind u doing these kind of roles, may be the sincere lack of “creative” people in hindi cinema today.
Just remember Deewar, Zanjeer…and u mite understand wht i’m trying to convey.
Love u anyways, for ur old days…:)

I wish if i can ever see you coming to Karachi, Pakistan where i live. We are all keenly waiting for the release of your films i.e. Bhoothnath and Sarkar Raj.
Wonder if you can come here on the release of Sarakar Raj.
You will find a lot of similarities between Karachi and Bombay and feel like home. Many of your colleauges have visited this city recently like Amir Khan, Naseeruddin Shah.

I have always wondered this and hopefully because of this blog I will be able to get an answer to this question. At your son’s wedding you did not invite ANY MUSLIMS at all (not even Dilip Kumar?!), yet you accepted a daughter-in-law who has had such a long and INTENSE AFFAIR with a Muslim male (Salman Khan)- why? What’s the reason?
Please do reply as I would really be interested in one.

Also, I wanted to say that I cannot wait to see Sarkar Raj! Its seems simply mindblowing. The expressions, the music, and the drama are so intriguing and I am soo excited to see what the next chapter in the Sarkar series. Although I heard you say in am interview that it doesnt necessarily pick up from where the Sarkar left off but thats ok.
Have a wonderful and enlightening time on your walk to the temple!

Dear Sri Amitabh ji,
Nmasthe. Thank you for all your write. I read your blog almost everyday and enjoy the same.
However, one request I have, please kindly stop reacting to all and sundry to the media folks who write nonsense about you and your family members. A person of your stature should not stoop low down. A subtle comment here and there is fine.
With your pull and personality and so many folks world over reading your blog, please conribute something like social service, books, movies, soprts etc which in turn will make your blog readers realize what and how much they can give back to the society. And as an individual (forget about your superstae image-man looking at himself in the mirror) should feel satisfied that end of the day you have contributed immensely to the well being of this planet.
Example: SP Bala Subramanyam popular male lead singer from Andhra conducts some programs for upcoming singers. Towards end of the program he gives small bits of advice: like parents are very important in life, about not spitting paan on walls, not urinating in publicly etc etc.

Dear Amit Bhai,
Jai Shree Ganesh !!! Its Monday late evening here in Germany and i presume you are already at the SiddhiVinayak Temple or still on the way as it’s about 2 am in India right now. Exactly two weks ago i was in Mumbai and visited the Temple early Tuesday morning and i came away from there feeling light and cleansed, Mumbai has never ceased to amaze me with its landmark temples all over the city, this city which actually has a reputation for being so vibrant and so busy and, you dont really expect to see the crowds at the Temples absolutely as if in a trance. In fact, I personally have always thought of my short 2-3 day trips to this city as a pilgrimage, as i make it a point to visit as many Temples as i can during my short stopovers.
Its been about a week since i last wrote to you as i was away travelling in China and since my return over the last couple of days i have been catching up with your postings over the last week. It made fascinating reading and i never cease to be amazed at your humility, actually, am feeling guilty at not having written at all over the last week.
I dont really know if you have read any of my earlier letters, but i will admit today to you openly that you actually make me feel as if i am writing to a dear and close friend and with whom i am sharing my inner thoughts and day to day happenings. I do remember having asked you in one of my earlier letters, WHO ARE YOU ? and how have you come into our lives so casually and easily, it cant be just because you are THE Amitabh Bachchan. No, I do feel today that there is something else, you are a very special soul gifted with Gods Blessings.
I hope you had a good Darshan, and I am already looking forwrd to my next trip to Mumbai, as i now feel that there is someone there i know, a close friend…..
As always, wishing you and your beautiful family joy & happiness,
warm regards

namaskaram, bagunnara? (u shud know this greeting if you know RGV)
reading ur blog, am so tempted to join you, well maybe not actually with you, but u know what i mean, in the walk to the siddhivinayak temple. i live far far away so its always been a desire to visit all the temples in India, currently my parents are on the pilgrimage tour to Char Dham, the most sacred of all pilgrimage for Hindus. If am not mistaken there was a time when most saints and sadhus have walked this path to those mystical mountains in search of salvation. I think its not just the destination and the darshan of the god that is fulfilling, but the journey along then way, the experiences, the lows and highs, the physical fatigue, the magnificent beauty of nature, the sunrises, sunsets, etc all these make it even enjoyable! Just like i wish for my parents, i wish you have a safe and fulfilling darshan. Jai Shri Ganesh!

Dear God (Amitji)
Can’t express my happiness, even writing for you is like dream come true. After reading your blogs couldn’t held back my tears. Tears are rolling off the chicks as I am typing this. Your relationship with your father, wife, son, daughter and grand kids, always been aspiring. Even being at that big stature, you have maintained your family life very well.
As I read thru this blog, I could imagine the pain and helplessness you must have gone through seeing your dad sleeping into the coma. I always followed NEWS of Teji Ji during her illness and your effort for making sure she gets all the comfort required. For people you are an icon. For me you are a God.
Even in the ABCL failure days, you paying your debt out was another high example you set up, which people like us will look upon.
Amitji, I always wanted to mention this to you as you have reached a status where people are considering you a GOD, a living GOD. There never been a day with out I remembering either you or Jayaji. One scar I always have on my heart is the movies like Boom, Kabhi Alvida Na Kahna, Nishabdh. I cried for days after watching trailer of these movies, and you will not believe but I haven’t watched these movies because I dont want to loose your respect as God.
regardsless whaterver happens I will continue to support you and will be always there for you if need be.

This place is located near the ARCTIC CIRCLE in Canada. I have watched many of your movies and I believe you are an extremely talented and versitile actor. I prefer watching your movies in the seventies and eighties. On the other hand movies such as bagban, babul, boothnath, virud, and kubhi khushi kubhi gum are very deep and heart wrenching. Dear Mr. B.,
Thank you! How fun to have you take us with you to the sets, and see you at work. I will say one thing which you may or may not like … you may be afraid when you have to do a song, but I love your songs. I think the first time I saw you sing a song, you were in “Sharaabi,” my favorite of your films. After that I saw you sing again in “Silsila.” Both times I think you’ve said you weren’t happy with your voice … but I love listening to it. It’s YOUR voice, not another singer’s. That’s what I want to hear.
I don’t mind someone else’s voice when it’s necessary, such as in the rap ending to “Bunty Aur Babli,” which always makes me laugh as soon as it comes on. That was different. And whoever thought up the pause where you turn and look at the girls, who aren’t doing anything while you dance, was a genius. Hilarious moment.
I’ll be looking forward to more movie moments. I love this!
Aloha from Hawaii …
Love, Dorothy

The Purpose of a human being to take birth as a human is to realize god, within him, and you need to get initiated into the age old religion of indian monks … yogis, Sufi’s who then and there show you the “Light” divine, within you.

On the sets of ‘Aladin’ again and a song !!
Petrified ! Songs have always been a nightmare for me. But more of that later.
[unquote]
Dear Amitji,
I have quoted the above two sentences from your previous post. It leaves many of us surprised, since your songs have always played a key role in your success. Kindly, grant me permission to make the following observations in this regard.
1. This blog seems to be carrying out a two-way communication: Helping you know us (the audiences) better and vice-versa. You recently mentioned how tired and doubtful you were feeling the morning you had a shoot, and suddenly somebody’s positive sms made up your day….seems like a familiar story, since most of us have to go through the same, in one or the other way. This blog is, therefore, helping us to know you as much as you might do about us from our comments!
2. When you have finally spoken and shared enough about your current projects and your close ones (we are enjoying it, no doubt), kindly, look back into your past and let us know about your past associates once again. Allow us to read the “not-so-diplomatic” version of that era. Let us know about your working with Hrishida, his movies like Mili, Abhiman Chupke Chupke and Namak Haram. This author recently watched Namak Haram (doesn’t know if it was produced before or after Zanjeer) and noticed how you had this “angry young man” character flowing out of your (on-screen) persona by that period.
This explosive energy, which would then devastate your on-screen adversaries, and your ability to act it so fabulously, proved out a crucial aspect for your later career, and may not be reenacted by anybody else, however hard they may try at it. Allow us to know more about this on-screen transformation - going into the top of aggression (Zanjeer and Deewar) from the earlier works. How did you realize you could/ should do it? Didn’t this aggressiveness suit the actor that was lying inside you? Or was it also a nightmarish experience just like songs?
3. An interview that you gave after the success of Abhiman was re-aired by the BBC Hindi service a few years ago. They sounded as if you had reached at your pinnacle by then. You also seemed to agree with them, forcing this author to be amused. You did not have the idea of the rise you were yet to see in the Hindi cinema…did you have really?!
4. Let us also know things about Prakash Mehra, MM Desai and Yash Chopra, with whom you gave so many major hits. You, Mehra and Desai seem to come out of the same age group…almost! Did this help in making your association bloom, in anyway?
5. Being an ardent Kishoreda fan, let me ask you this. How was it acting, when you knew, you had his voice to rely on? The two of you together gave so many great numbers….this despite of you saying songs were nightmarish!
It wasn’t a piece of cake for everybody to act on Kishoreda’s voice - he used to sing with so much energy and passion - yet you succeeded in reciprocating his brilliance on-screen. How challenging was it to shoot on KK numbers? And where do you see today’s playback guys? Do you still feel the same charge and excitement that KK (along with RDB, Ashadi, Latadi and other singers and composures of that era) provided you in those days? You had some kind of misunderstanding with him during the mid 80s. It left us short, of a few more milestone numbers!
More later…
Warm Regards,
Pankaj Mohan

Dear Mr Bachchan.
I like them very much, (just think of the one in Kank with our son, or in Baghban with Hema Malini)
Your dancing scenes are just great, no need for them to become nightmares
And a very big thank you for giving your reader such a close look at the work on the set and the special effects. It is really interesting and exciting (and makes one wonder even more about the film).
But it is also like a sweet candy on the looong wait till the release.
Have a nice day ans all the best to you and your family and take care
Greetings from Germany
Sandra

I will be writing to you almost daily, once i hear from you.

Can’t believe i’m the first person to post here! How r u, sir? I hope u don’t stress yourself too much! That iceberg thing ur standing on looks quite scary and unstable! Can’t believe how advanced technology is today, i don’t think i would like it if my favorite actor was used after he was dead because it seems very unnatural. If they do that i would feel as though they are ‘cashing in’ because they are stars which shows a lack of respect to the dead actor. Maybe, the actors should sign a contract saying that they allow the directors to use their faces in the future after they are dead (much like a donar card). What do u think? I hope u understand what i was trying to say, anyway i’m going off to bed! Have a good day tomorrow! Bye!

HI AMITJI,
ITS GREAT … After working all day long and being tired you are getting ready for the SiddhiVinayak. what a sprit , I think the the power of SiddhiVinayak is backing you throuh out your life, Inpite of lots of ups and downs in your life you have not backup for your faith. Same spirit is in every human being but I think its enlighting in you little more and thats everyone can see and its encouraging people like me.
Jai SiddhiVinayak.

Good Morning to you Sir!
This will be my second entry. Won’t take long
I have just watched “ANAND”. Out of all your films that I have seen this is by far the best. I know Sholay was the most successful commercially and it was a good movie but to me that film was pure entertainment with a little drama thrown in
“ANAND” has a soul. It has substance. It dealt with the inevitable which we all face - Death.
It left me wondering, if people believe that there is a better li
