DAY 50 !!

Never ever imagined this would be possible. But I have to give it all to you my readers. It has been such an exhilarating experience. One that is beyond comprehension. You will never fathom the extent to which you have provided me with the pleasure and joy of communicating with you. Of reading your words of affection, your excitement, your pain and frustration, your words of advice, your intolerance at my deeds, your abuse and anger. Every single word has been read and understood and accommodated in my heart.

Thank you for being with me and providing me the strength of my convictions, the honor of your presence, the frivolity of your jibes and the frankness of your concern.

My humble gratitude.

My server, bigadda.com provided me with some statistics which I must share with you, because quite obviously you have been responsible for it -

Day before 15840 visits, and 71979 page views.

Month of May : 2,58,265 unique visitors and 25,65,418 page views.

I am unable to understand the technicals of this, but perhaps some amongst you who do, would care to explain it to me. I am illiterate on matters such as this. Well, illiterate on many other matters too, but this one more particularly.

For the moment, just this. Let me savor the exuberance of this day and prepare myself for tomorrow and hopefully many more tomorrows.

My love for you as always -

Amitabh Bachchan

    Hello,

    I don’t write Amitabh ji ‘coz I don’t know u personally and I don’t want to sound cheesy …

It’s so humble of you to say that u r illiterate lol The stats that you ave given means your blog is a SUPER HIT. What my understanding is that you don’t want commercial interest out of the bog….It’s a suggestion since so many people are visiting your blog you can use it to promote good causes or charities or just information about say AIDS, STDs, education, health, smoking and all that. Atleast people respect you so they will learn. The whole experience of you writing blog reminds me of my parents sending me emails or voice chat since I moved abroad and henceforth I could give some inputs…. They faced similar problem of losing data or electricity going out..

Also, you do know that you can write your blog in ‘hindi’ too for people who are not well versed with English,…

We never hear about your daughter and how she copes with everyone being so famous..does she feel left out? I haven’t seen sarkar raj yet but wud see it soon…

I feel writing to you gives me a sense of confidence that I am talking to one of the most popular Indian celebrity….

Do you read all the comments?

    Dear Sir,

Just reiterating what has been commented before..This comment has to do entirely with Abishek. I was just reading the comments and one thing that I noticed not just in this blog but generally was, there seems to be some sort negative waves in the minds of people towards abhishek. Its hard to comprehend as to why that is, probably because some think he is a competetor to hrithik(whom I feel is way over rated in acting) and people like him or its because they always tend to compare him to you . Infact Abhisek is not bad at all (when you compare him to guys like tusshar who go unnoticed or infact havent received the kind of hate that abhishek has(as I have seen in different forums))

I personally felt that Abhishek was great in movies like yuva, guru and now Sarkar. Sure there are some places he falters in the expressions but so does every new actor including hrithik. Ajay Devgan who is considered a good actor today was a hardly one in his initial days. People evolve and at this stage I feel abhishek is certainly good. Ofcourse he is not underrated( like akshaye khanna who probably never got the the fame he deserved especially after that mind blowing performances in humraaz, dil chahta hai and race) but certainly is being hated for other reasons than the ones he is responsible for.

I sincerely hope he does something to prove his worth (no denying he has done that to some extent in films like guru) but probably mass appeal is a little different.

    Cheers
    Reggie

    Dear Amitji

Day before 15840 visits, and 71979 page views.

Month of May : 2,58,265 unique visitors and 25,65,418 page views.

The above statment says on Day 49 15840 Visitors have visited your blog and 71979 Page Views means number pages for example if your blog crosses 80 lines then it is considered 1 page. So Totally including all your past blogs 71979 times your page has been viewed.

In May 2,58,265 New visitors have viewed your blog and 25,65,418 times your pages has been viewed.

  18. Tariq Ahmed says:

    Dear Mr. Bachchan,

It is we who should be thanking you for giving us the opportunity to connect with you. To know that my words are being read by you, a person who I’ve idolized since childhood, truly gives me goosebumps. I don’t know what I would if you were in front of me. You are an inspiration and are truly gifted at all that you set out do, especially on the silver screen!!

While I’m in no place to educate you, but since you asked for an explanation about those figures, I would be more than happy to oblige. Those figures are more or less self-explanatory. 15840 refers to the number of times your blog was visited on the previous day. 71979 refers to how many times the blog was viewed, which includes times that a page was refreshed by someone after posting a comment. In May, you had 2,58,265 unique visitors. I’m guessing unique refers to the people who actually posted. So for May, there 2,58,265 comments. Now I don’t know if this number reflects the same person posting more than once. If I have posted 15 times on your blog in May, then that total number may take into account each post of mine, or it may just count me as one, regardless of posts. Finally, 25,65,418 refers to the number of times the blog was viewed in May (including refresh). I don’t know if what I’ve explained is fully accurately or even comprehensible. I hope I haven’t confused you more. This is my take on what those numbers probably mean.

To step into the world of films, I recently, again for the millionth time at least, saw Mard and Baaghbaan. Excellent performances in both. Your scene with Mr. Prem Chopra in Mard, where you are acting as his mirror reflection is so hilarious, my wife and I couldn’t stop laughing. How many takes did that scene require?? I can’t imagine how either of you were able to keep a straight face! Brilliant scene!

In Baghbaan, your performance brought me to tears. Absolute brilliance!
Thank you for such outstanding performances which in turn become timeless memories.

Please don’t thank us!! We are thankful to you for giving us this opportunity. My only hope is that someday I get to meet you.

You are truly a superstar, in more ways than one!! Keep on shining!! May Allah give you a long and happy life!!

    Best wishes and regards,
    Tariq

To be very frank i have never liked any of the Bachchans. B4 Sarkar Raj that is. It just blew me away.Every scene especially the one in which u talk to shankar’s photo is just mindblowing. I could feel tears welling up in my eyes by the time the rain washed away the “Shankar” written in the sand.I have mixed feelings about Sarkar 3 though, because though you are the body of the movie, the one that supports and keeps everything in place,Abhishek is the soul.

For you.. Though its a copy paste from wikipedia.. It was a piece of learning for me as well…

    Unique Visitors:
When tracking the amount of traffic on a Web site, it refers to a person who visits a Web site more than once within a specified period of time. Software that tracks and counts Web site traffic can distinguish between visitors who only visit the site once and unique visitors who return to the site. Different from a site’s hits or page views — which are measured by the number of files that are requested from a site — unique visitors are measured according to their unique IP addresses, which are like online fingerprints, and unique visitors are counted only once no matter how many times they visit the site.

    Page Views:
A page view (PV) or page impression is a request to load a single page of an Internet site. On the World Wide Web a page request would result from a web surfer clicking on a link on another HTML page pointing to the page in question. This should be contrasted with a hit, which refers to a request for a file from a web server. There may therefore be many hits per page view.

These page views may be counted as part of web analytics. For the owner of the site this information can be useful to see if any change in the page (such as the information or the way it is presented) results in more visits. If there are any advertisements on the page, the advertisers would also be interested in the number of page views to determine their expected revenue from the ads. For this reason it is a term that is used widely for Internet based marketing and advertising.

    Cheers!!!!!

  26. Rajat says:

    Hi!
For some questions in life, someone will tell you the answers. There are few that you may know the answer yourself and the rest are the ones which only time can answer. The whole father-son relation (like any other relation) brings out questions that only time can answer. “Why did my father not buy that plot of land when it was cheap?”, “Why did he serve all his life in one job?”, “Why did we have to stay in the small town all our life?”. Why, why and why…

Time goes by and then one day you find yourself to be a father. A little fairy or a tiny prince on your lap. You look at the tiny bundle and start to get answers. You start getting answers to questions that no one gave you answers for, or more honestly, the ones you didn’t dare to ask. With self-realised answers, you have a new perspective on life, a new knowledge and a refreshed wisdom to face every new day, and then comes the day when your child (now no more a child) asks you, “Why did you give birth to me”?

You don’t reply but deep within you know that the day he gets the answer, he will remember his question and will remember you.

    Regards
    Rajat

    Helloo Mr. Bacchan :)

I guess its been days since I’ve commented for ur posts. I have been reading whenever u updated them but some posts were extremely long and i was so busy that I had to just read between the lines. So I dint feel it right to comment without reading word to word.

About yesterdays post I’d like to tell you that you can keep pressing ctrl-S to save ur document on word. No need to push ur mouse pointer all the way up to file and then save. Or theres one more simple method which I often use which is typing my text in Gmail. Go to compose mail and type all that you want. You wont have to save as it automatically saves and even if your lappy goes out of battery or you close the gmail window by mistake you can be rest assured that whatever you wrote is safely saved in the drafts.

And about visits and views let me try to impart a bit of what I know to you :).

Unique visitors are those who are visiting your page for the very first time and your server gets to know that by the IP address of the computer. While page views are made up by people who visit your blog, which has frequent visitors, not so frequent visitors as well as the new visitors. Suppose I view your page the view is 1 and sometimes if i reload the page the view may become two too. But that depends on the server. I dont want to say more and make it confusing. Hope You’ve got what I meant.

Have a great day Mr. Bacchan :)

    Amit Sir…!!

You have been a source of inspiration always not because of your achievements but more so because of your humility. I have always believed that its not only one’s success that makes someone admirable but how one handles it. I am also a die hard fan of Sachin Tendulkar due to the same reasons.

I wish you and your family well…Thanks for conducting yourself so well throughout your life and setting up a benchmark which would help ordinary people like me to understand the value of humility. We certainly need examples like you for understanding the importance of such a great attribute.

Unique visitor means just that. If I visit your blog 10 times in the measurement time frame from the same computer (normally, but there are better ways of determining this statistic), it is counted as 1 unique visit.

    Page view:
    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Page_view

The _simplest_ definition for this is the number of times your website (including individual blog posts) has been accessed.

    Dear Amitji,

A unique visitor is a statistic describing a unit of traffic to a Web site, counting each visitor only once in the time frame of the report. This statistics is relevant to site publishers and advertisers as a measure of a site’s true audience size, equivalent to the term “Reach” used in other media.

The number of Total Visitors to a site divided by Unique Visitors results in the derived statistic “Average Sessions Per Unique Visitor” which tells a publisher how many times each Unique Visitor came to their site on average in the time frame of the report.

A page view is a request to load a single page of an Internet site.

    Hope this helps you.

    Best regards,
    Sanjeev

    Sir,
Your fans will always be with you and support you. I have been a great fan of yours since my childhood. I have seen almost all your movies (Sorry for saying almost and not all). I remember the days from my childhood when I used to do good academically at school, my father knowing that i am great fan of yours would give us a feast (any movie of yours at theater followed by dinner in restaurant). My two elder sisters used to crib that Dad always take us to watch your movies…..
I remember, when you got injured during shooting of Coolie, somewhere in 1981-82, I didn’t had any food that day and I really cried a lot. After lot of persuasion from my parents, I had my food. I am not writing this to impress you but its a true feeling of love and respect for you.
I am a die hard fan of 2 people. One is you and other is Sachin Tendulkar. I generally quote this to my friends that “Sachin is Amitabh of Cricket and Amitabh is Sachin of Films”

The pleasure is all ours. I don’t understand those numbers but they sound impressive.
I just got back to work straight from doing my college radio show on WUSB-FM which has 4000 watts, the most powerful noncommercial station on Long Island. It is also on the web. This is one of the rare college stations that allow alumni to remain on the air forever. I’ve been on since 1981. After my usual 2.5 hours of mostly punk, I started the Indian music portion with Jalwa Re Jalwa from Sarkar Raj. I instantly got a call from a Pakistani man working at a gas station in Centerport. He has called me twice before and always sounds so excited that I’m playing this Indian film music. I can only imagine what he thinks of my butchering of the pronunciation of the titles and names of the singers.
Now I have to stay awake the rest of the day through the tedious tasks of checking two logs-AMC SD and HD channels. Then the even more difficult task of watching the crappy movies they show on AMC. Even if some aren’t bad, they show them over and over. When American Movie Classics first went commercial and lost most of their old movies, we used to joke that AMC now stands for “Alas, More Commercials!”, “American Movie Crap”, or “Another Movie Channel”. Well, by the time my break comes I’m sure there will be hundreds more comments here so reading them will help get me through the day.
You are the one I thank for having this blog. It makes me feel as though you are a friend. Many more thousands of days on it I hope.

    Love,

    Dear Amitabhji ,

I am really moved by your modesty (“I am illiterate on matters such as this. Well, illiterate on many other matters too, but this one more particularly.”)

As far as my knowledge goes, I am just trying to explain some of your queries like number of visits, unique visitors etc.

Number of Visits: Visits represent the number of individual sessions initiated by all the visitors to your site. If a user is inactive on your site for 30 minutes or more, any future activity will be attributed to a new session. Users that leave your site and return within 30 minutes will be counted as part of the original session.

Page Views: A page view is defined as a view of a page on your site that is being tracked by the Analytics tracking code. If a visitor hits reload after reaching the page, this will be counted as an additional page view. If a user navigates to a different page and then returns to the original page, a second page view will be recorded as well.

Unique Visitors: Unique Visitors represents the number of unduplicated (counted only once) visitors to your website over the course of a specified time period.

I hope above mentioned definitions will help you in understanding the statistics as provided by bigadda.com

Believe me, it is a staggering figure. I am sure, it will keep on increasing as time rolls on.

    Thanks,

    Durga

Needless to say I am a big fan, more of Amitabh Bachchan the Man than of Amitabh the actor (as I am not much of a movie buff).

I have been reading a lot of comments on your blog and most say that you are either jealous of SRK or you should mend bridges with him, etc. etc. My humble view is, if SRK was 1/4 the man that you are, he would have said something after you apologised so very publicly to him on this blog. After all most of the major newspapers carried excerpts of the same. Unfortunately, being the petulant person that he is, there was no reciprocation from him. Otherwise, he would have attended IIFA, which he did not, and look at the god almighty’s justice, his sets were washed away due to the heavy downpour ! He claimed that it was his children’s holiday so he could not attend ! really ! he cannot afford to pay for his children’s airfare to bangkok ? What crap !

He has always had his cronies on KBC, why has he never invited Abhishekh or for that matter you ?

Anyway, wish you all the very very best… forget SRK, you are the boss and will remain so… With lots of love to you Ashish P.

    Dear Sir Amitabh Bachchan Saheb

I will like to offer you my help with Server Stats that you got from BigAdda team.

    Pageviews
    ============
When a person visits a webpage say day 50 of your blog and the page gets loaded on his Internet Browser, this is called ONE PAGEVIEW.
When he watches another page (say day 49 of ur Blog) that adds one more pageviews.

So day before you got 71979 page views means 15840 users from whole world reading your blog in total saw 71,979 pages of your Blog in one day.

    ——-
    Unique Visitor
    =============
When a user visits a webpage his/her IP number of computer get recorded on server and that makes 1 visitor.
When SAME user visits another page one more hit is registered and it can add up to make 2 visitor. But this will be ambigious data as both the two hits came from some person. So comes the concept of Unique Visitor. All the hits coming from same IP Address are counted as 1 Visitor unique.
This 1 unique visitor may see 5 page views of your blog thus making it to 5 pageviews.

In May month total of 2,58,265 UNIQUE users visited you and they saw 25,65,418 pages. Thus we can say that a Single unique visitor read atleast 9.9 (Approx 10 pages) in month of May. This shows that you have a faithful following where people return back often to read your blog.

Normally on yahoo a visitor just watches 1.5 pages but for you this figure is very high.

I hope this helps a little to understand the techies side of your Blog.

    Amitabhji,
Let me try to explain the statistics given to you:
Day before 15840 visits, and 71979 page views. Month of May : 2,58,265 unique visitors and 25,65,418 page views

This means that yesterday (day before), there were 15840 people who visited your blog. Some of these people obviously like what you write, and so they open multiple postings of yours. This means that there were 71979 page views, meaning approximately 4.5 page views per reader, or loosely speaking, a single visitor ends up on an average reading 4-5 of your posts. Of course there are people who more than 5, and there are people who simply go away after reading a single post (maybe like a flop film - they do not linger on in the theater).

For the month of May, you had 2,58,265 people coming in and reading your blog. Some of these people may be repeats (like a person who reads you blog on every Sunday), not sure how bigadda.com has compiled the stats. The stats also say that you had 25,65,418 page views translating into 10 posts read per person on an average.

Generally speaking, if people are reading more than one post on an average per visit to your blog, it reflects quality of content that you are providing. The stats are just reflecting the truth.

Hope this helps, and may you have all the power to brace for the tomorrows ahead.

    Hi Amitji,

Congratulations on your 50th…Keep posting. You have a lovely blog there and its really nice of you to share your daily experiences with all of us.

Regarding page views and visits, as far as my understanding goes, page views determine the popularity of the web page. Its basically a request sent to web server as and when you link is opened.

Visits is more to do with the same client having many requests for that page I think.I may be wrong :-( but it doesnt matter your blog rocks!!

Hope this helps. With the numbers you have, your page is pretty popular :-)
    Keep it going Amit Ji.

    regards from
your one more ardent fan :-)

“The tales you share, are nothing new,
But, those who do so, are rare and few,
To share the lows, of the times gone by,
To share the moments of happiness, and of joy,
Simple, yet powerful words, flow like a river,
With meanings so enriched, it makes me quiver,
To think what you have lived through, all these years,
Learning the lessons of life, sometimes with a smile, sometimes with a tear,
The tales of your life, will inspire one and all,
To rise and fight, even if we may fall,
For Life is nothing, but a journey to fulfill,
To walk on our path, with our own Free Will,
Life is not a game, that we win or loose,
But all that matters, is the road we choose,
For it is the journey that we, will remember to the very end,
Not what we take with us, or leave behind, my Friend!

The feeling is mutual!!! We, the countless fans, never ever imagined that we could be sharing the same forum, expressing our admiration and angst for and against you. The numbers that you put up just display a fraction of the people who revere you, and I am not surprised!!!

You have been an inspiration to me and many others. I have been watching you on screen for a number of years. It was my father who, as a college kid, watched you portray the angry young man on screen, and now, it’s me who’s taking the legacy forward, so to speak :-).

You have been a master at your craft, portraying emotions in a manner that they touch each and all. Remember you during a shoot for ‘Toofan’ where you had to lay motionless in the waters of Juhu beach. For people who don’t live in Mumbai, I’d like to highlight that the beach is not the cleanest that you would come across. I, as a kid saw Amitji giving retakes upon retakes, for a scene that required him to stay motionless whilst he was lying in knee deep water. That memory has remained with me, and now when I try to etch my career, it acts as a huge motivator!! A professional par excellence indeed! And now, through your daily write ups, we realize a great human being and a role model in every sense of the word!!

    Way to go!!!

For those of us that banter to you regularly there are thousands that just come to read your words. I have said it before and will say it again, when time permits write a book on your life and your thoughts. People want to hear what you have to say. It is beyond a fan wanting to hear from the one that they adore. In this forum, your writings and thoughts are more appreciated and valued.

    Ekta Kapoor’s TV Serials (continued)

Some other salient features of her TV serials are:

    1. All mothers & fathers must not be older than their daughters and sons. Parents can be of the same age as their children. There is no harm in it.

    2. Grand parents and great grand parents however old must never die. They are ageless and the central character can have up to three lives.

    3. All characters must be dressed up in their best colorful clothes and have full make up on at all times whether awake, sleeping, bathing, sick or dying. Not a hair should be out of place.

    4. Each character must conspire against the other family member at least once (but preferably many times) in the serial.

    5. The serial must never end.
