btw, AmitJi, I wonder if you knew ‘Amitabha’ is a celestial buddha described in the scriptures of the Mahāyāna school of Buddhism. Amitabha is the principal buddha in the Pure Land sect, a branch of Buddhism practiced mainly in East Asia. According to these scriptures, Amitābha possesses infinite merits resulting from good deeds over countless past lives as a bodhisattva named Dharmakāra.
If you didn’t know you can read more on this webpage http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Amitabha
“he who possesses light without bound, he whose splendor is infinite”.

    Hello Amitabhji,

Thank you for the kind words and love.

I know you are busy and may not have much time to answer any questions, but I thought I’d throw out one in the off chance you might have the time to answer it.

I’m actually a Film studies student and one of my areas of critical focus is Hindi popular cinema, especially in the 1970s. I’m doing some research into films of that era and the role of sound and music played in them.

In particular, I was curious to see if any of the films you worked in in the 1970s used sync sound? I’m just curious to find out about the use of synch sound especially since the industry standard was and still is ADR.

Thank you for taking the time to write to all of us!

    Cheers!

    Mr. Bachchan,

As a mother, I make every effort to educate my children not to give out personal information on the web. You are a person in the public eye and hence for you the definition of ‘privacy’ and ‘personal information’ is slightly different. In your blogs you are communicating your travel plans, your health issues etc. Don’t you feel concerned about this information being mis-used?

Don’t get me wrong - I am an avid reader of your blog. I enjoy reading your thoughts and opinions. However I think you are entitled to your privacy and don’t think this information is of anyone else’s concern.

    Regards.

    Dear Sir,

obviously the names of ‘all the unique users’ didn’t fit onto one page of you blog, the (giant!!) list already ends with the letter ‘D’ and the name Devashree.
But I appreciate the unique effort even though the list breaks up before the so very important letter ‘E’.

Also, I hope you have not felt too much of the ‘bad, indifferent and ugly’ part of the remarks and presences - if only to prevent you from sending us ‘equal if not more’ of that kind back…

    ;)
I am sorry for making fun of your very sincere and loving post, but I’m in a whimsical mood tonight, and mean no harm. Please don’t be offended. It’s always a pleasure to read your posts, and a big honour to be able to write comments in your blog. You have enriched every one of my days for over two months now, as well as the days of 16,000 others - an amazing feat!

    Much thanks, regards and love,

There is a very specific reason i would like your opinion on the synopsis and god willing something more. Kindly provide an opportunity to present it and provide me valuable feedback.

So for that i think what you should practice doing is….write your post on Microsoft Office document…and then no matter what you do…the blog is right there :) as Microsoft Word saves everything that you type, and even if your computer shuts off ….when you open Microsoft word again you have the recovered document right in front of you! Bingo!! :)

I am Subodh Sharma from Mumbai.I am student of pharmacy field.I was just curious to know that your father was a legendary poet use to talk in purest form of hindi and this trend was continued by you too and that too in a good form but lately i see your son Mr. Abhishek Bachan do not speak that kind or grade of hindi. I mean to say he do speak in hindi but the standard you have maintained he does not maintains it and lately i have seen him answering hindi question too in english this is not fare sir, I mean its good you speak english but there are some unwritten manners which does not allow a celeb to answer any answer in different language when asked in a particular language its a kind of insult to that language and i hope you too understand that.I don’t expect a reply from you but do think on this.

    Dear Mr Bachchan

Hello sir! Hope you are doing great.

I needed a piece of advice from you. There are times when one feels completely shattered and demotivated because of small failures in life. I guess this happens with almost all of us but whenever I’m bit low due to the same, one thing always peeps into my mind and that is “How Amit uncle would have kept himself focused and motivated during his worst days in 1990’s?” I needed something from you on this because sometimes even I feel like running away from things due to high stress levels and few failures.

    Dear sir,

This is my second message to you on your blog with hope that i will get reply atleast after few messages. I understand that u have so many messages and comments. So it is very difficult to actually read each and reply on that, in such a busy schedule.

In my first comment i mentioned about the scene of “Shakti” one of your greatest movies. Today i want to salute you for one more scene which is from the movie “Anand”. You were noticed in the movie but mostly it was for “kakaji” what i have to say is if you remember the scene when anand dies in the end and the his friend(you) cry and express your feelings. The best part is through out the whole film you be so suppresed and introvert about what you feel for someone whom you love so much and then when the person dies one need to see u r performance as an actor.. i tell you sir may be you get bore about all such explanation on scenes but it has a lot of value for any non professional artist these people understand value of each of your performance.

You perform each scene with so much intigrety that any body inthe world can make out that this can not be performed better than this.

Sir i shall be disturbing you on regular basis and bore you every time with some minute performance details and hope one fine day my favourite actor shall send me some comments on that..

Hope you stay in pink of your health for ever and ever..

    Dear Sir,
In my life, I have three dreams, not necessarily in the order below:
    - To meet R. D. Burman
    - To meet Kishore Kumar
    - To meet Amitabh Bachchan

I know my other two wishes will never be fulfilled, but I did have the privilege of seeing you during your visit to the Lincoln Center at New York City in May 2005. A memorable evening for me, that was. There were two hurly, burly NYC cops who escorted you to your car and I was frantic to shake your hand or get an autograph. They told me “Ma’am, no pushing please” and I had the guts to tell them, “But you don’t understand - this is my hero, Mr Amitabh Bachchan!!” Of course, they shoved me aside. Yes, I was disappointed, but I was happy that I got to catch a glimpse of you.
I would love to know about your experiences with Kishore Kumar and R.D. Burman.

Thank you and with sincere regards,

You have always been an inspiration in my life through good times and especially the bad. Hyderabad is my hometown and recently, you had blogged about your trip to Hyderabad and your appreciation of many things Hyderabadi - it brought tears to my eyes.

In your long & illustrious career, as best as I can tell, you essayed only a fleeting portrayal of a Hyderabadi, and that too as a caricature in Desh Premee during the song “Khatoon ki kidmat mein……”

Could you then, pleas oblige your Hyderabadi fans and play the role of a “pucca Hyderabadi” in a future film? It will warm all our hearts!

    Dear Mr Bachchan…

Was responding to your entry before but you posted this new ones so I will enter my comment here.

At the risk of sounding ignorant, why is an Indian (you) being question about his “Indianness??!!”. It seem such a senseless pursuit. Why would anyone want to spent so much time on such trivial matter. Isn’t an Indian, an Indian, full stop?
Sorry but I don’t know the story behind this but it has been raised so many times.

Having read the questionaires and your answers to them it was nice to get an idea of your habits. Though I can never understand how anyone can pick up a book then put it down and never continue to read it! I am a compulsive reader myself. I don’t mean I read all the time but once I pick up a book I can’t put it down until it is finished!

I can’t believe a reporter would use the word, “thingie”, in his interview. I laughed when I read that and your answer….Ha! ha! ha!. And how do you keep a straight face when you get ask repetitive, and even verging on silly questions? How? It can’t be possible. You must surely role your eyes in disbelief.

I didn’t think you would have time to sit down and see films considering you have such a very busy schedule . Edith Piaf theme song is truly beautiful. I am talking of course about the lyrics.

Mr. Bachchan, are you very musical? Is there no end to your talent? Were you being modest when you said you couldn’t play the piano? Do you ever listen to classical music? My favourite is Piano Sonata No.14 by (Ludwig van) Beethoven. It is popularly known as “Moonlight Sonata”. When this is played solo on a piano, oh, I could listen to it for hours. I just love it! I remember I couldn’t sleep one night, a few years back now, and I drove to the seaside and I saw the most beautiful moon, full and shining bright over a very vivid deep blue sea. I stopped the car and just sat watching that wonderful view for ages. Unfortunately I didn’t have the Cd of moonlight sonata with me but I played it in my head over and over again while looking transfix on that beautiful magical scene. I think the fact that I was playing the music in my head made it even more magical and intense. Memories can evoke so much emotions. Must listen to it now!….hold on while I put it on….

….aaahh that’s better, beautiful music to my ears!!!…..and to continue. In your visit to Indore did you really almost lost your clothes? Well they would most certainly have seen your…”tonal value!”(in reference to your body!). Maybe the Indore crowd would have called that the, “definition of SEXY!” Ha! ha! ha! Shouldn’t be that bad a condition if you hit the gym daily!

On this note…. I will end here….have to listen to this music….and say goodbye.

    Hope you have a goodnight.

    Rose C

You are a generous man, and we witness that every day in the effort you put into your posts, and the responses you write to us. As ardent fans, we continue to bask in your performances, and fantasize about chance meetings with you :)

Anecdotally, last year, on new years eve, I dressed up as you. I shaved in a nice french beard, and my kid brother did the same. We went to a costume party as BigB and LittleB. Suffice to say, we were quite a hit. Most of the evening was spent in an attempt to emulate your finesse, and share some of your film dialogues, ofcourse, my delivery was nondescript. The entire evening, however, a song from GolMaal (you had a cameo in it) played in my head the entire time .. ‘Sapne me dekha sapna, … mein Amitabh ho gaya’

Some day soon, I will share another little anecdote too .. hopefully, you will get a chance to read this and the next one. Im sure its a challenge with over 800 responses to your posts.

    Hello Sir,

I have been watching your movies since childhood. The one thing i remember about you well is the year 1984 when you won the elections in Allahabad. It is my hometown too. The best thing that happen at that time was remolval of license for cycles. People still remeber those small things and you visits to the city. I am a fan of Abhishek as well. Rather whole of Bachchan family. I saw abhishek the first time i guess he was in school in a family picture where he was wearing black suit and then i saw him in the filmfare awards ceromony with long hair i guess he was studying out of india that time. Since that day onwards I have been in love with your son. I am happily married but at times my husband is jealous when i talk abt abhi or watch him on TV. I love the whole Bachchan family.

Pl comment on following news-it’s way to go. congratulation to all Bachchans and Anil & Tina ambani.

MUMBAI: Reliance Big Entertainment (RBE) seems to be getting bigger by the day. Days after reports of the Anil Ambani firm planning to infuse about $600 million into Hollywood bigwig Steven Spielberg’s DreamWorks comes the news of a mega deal with the Bachchans.

Sources said the deal could be worth Rs 1,000-1,500 crore and would include film production, television series, reality shows, internet and mobile content besides live shows. RBE will look into the managerial, marketing and distribution of the projects in the deal while the creative inputs would come from the Bachchans.

Some of the directors who have been signed up to direct films for the joint venture are Cheeni Kum director R Balakrishnan, Sujoy Ghosh, Rohan Sippy and Dr Chandraprakash Dwivedi. A source from Reliance Adlabs said that more directors would soon be signed up for the joint venture.

Confirming the JV, a spokesperson for RGE said, “We are proud of the association with the Bachchan family. We are confident that the creative genius of the Bachchans and the business acumen of Reliance will create magic and take entertainment to a different level. The joint venture and our strategy to tie up with Indian and international creative talent will help the company build a new-age global entertainment conglomerate.”

Amitabh Bachchan’s company AB Corp will facilitate the execution of the joint venture projects. Speaking to TOI , Bachchan Sr said, “We will provide the creative inputs and also share the profits. As of now, we plan to start with film projects and work in a way that will benefit us mutually. Also, they have given us the liberty to work outside and there is an unwritten understanding that we have the first right of refusal.”

Again pl confirm this and let’s your blogger be the first one to have more on this.

If you do acknowledge me, please acknowledge me based on my posts and participation in your blog, and not because I have requested you to. In either case, I would be extremely happy and grateful to be acknowledged by you, but I would rather you acknowledge me based on what you have read from my posts instead of me just requesting. Hi Mr Bachan,

me again !! Just finished catching up on your last few posts. About day 61, You said the article appeared a ‘while back’ - but it was published on 19 May 2008. Personally I thought that it would have been publised some years ago !!! Surely 1 month is not that long !!!!

Also, on day 61 you mentioned that Naseeruddin shah refers to himself as mediocre - and if he sees himself as mediocre then how does he regards others ? I personally think that - that particular type of thinking is what makes a person so good and successful at what they do - if they regards themselves as mediocre and average - they try even harder to excel. Generally these type of people regard others as being better than them which also fuels their desire to excel. But then again, kisi ko kya pata kay kis kay dil main kya hai ?!!!!!! The may be ‘acting’ to be humble just to gain popularity amongst the public - personally I take people at face value and dont delve into such thoughts as it only leads to a reduction in trust of people around onself and the world at large. One intentions should be clean and pure - that is all that matters.

A comment about your blog, in your the wallpaper above where a caption, dialogue or saying is typed - it is written in Hindi today. Unfortunately I cannot read hindi, I would be grateful if you could at least include a translation of it as well. I love coming to you blog and reading your blogs - it has become a daily routine (apart from days when I have exams), and it is very frustrating when I cant read or access a certain part of the site.

I have posted numerous comments on your blog in the hope of getting a reply from yourself, it seems as you either dont read my comments or dont like my comments and ignore them, I wonder what I will have to do to grab your attention !!!!!!!!! I am not writing this to compel you to reply, but if you find my comments to be out of order then please say so and I shall be more careful in the future.

Wonderful moive. You and ur family have set good example of out indian values. Ur blog in which u describe ur sherwood college experience with ur father was extremly touching. I really liked the line “Maan ka ho to achha and man ka na ho to aur bhi accha” . After reading that I have started incorporated taht thought in my real life. I have 8 months old son so sometimes I used to think why all bad things always happens to me and why things doesn’t happen the way I want ? Why always I have to adjust in my life ?
But after reading that sentence I went through all the incidents in my life , I could say I have had always got batter things than I always wished for.

I really liked the article about ur daily routine. I felt like I was in the studio itself, At the end of the article an individual can feel that life is not what it seems for celebrities always.

Thanks Abhi uncle! I am quite junior to you in age and profession, and have always looked up to you, beyond your acting skills, past your inter-personal skills and relationships, and admire every bit of you cause of your modesty, attitude towards life, and behavior. Your soul speaks of peace and gentleness.

I’ve been an avid reader of your blog. I am awed by your spirit and motivation to be in touch with the world directly by expressing your heart’s deepest emotions and feelings in a nicest way. Where do you get this strength from? Trust me, it is hard to believe with you at such senior position and designation, you have time and vigor in truest form to be in touch - I wonder where do you get the time and energy from? I am touched….deeply touched! And you inspire me in various ways. I live far away from my mother land (they call it the land of opportunities – which I am not sure how much is that true), in U.S. and miss my parents, my friends a lot, cry for them at times. In spite of the love and affection I have for them, I have to motivate myself to scribble a few words back to them off and on (and I am not that regular). Looking at the slightest Iota of your particle, I feel guilty! Is it luck that has brought you where you are or is that hard work and honesty? Where did you get the gift of outreaching? Everyone inspires to be like you- but there could be only one Kohinoor! As an elder, how would you inspire soo many kids who wants to follow you or your footpath? If I may ask, do you feel that you’ve a responsibility to your fans? Is it cause of your social obligation? Or what is that thing that inspires and motivates you to write and express yourself so thoroughly back to us, us who you don’t even know, not even met and are from completely belong to a strange world?

One day, I would like to meet you in person, and want to feel how is it to be like in your shoes. Not sure if that is possible in this life- coz you are far, far, far away, not reachable (aka reachable through words which I am grateful to this technology)! Hopefully you can respond back to me atleast in my dreams .

    Love ya always… muuuah,

Greetings! I have been watching your movies since childhood and have always respected you in two capacities: 1) As an actor 2) As a human being.

Also, I saw your talk show with Charlie Rose with great interest and I was stuck by the simplicity, dignity and elegance with which you espoused your thoughts on various subjects. I want to ask you four questions:

    1. What matters most to you and why?

    2. What is happiness according to you?

    3. Which question you believe every interviewer should ask you?

    3. Success is a relative term. Everybody has a different meaning/interpretation for the term. At what stage of your life did you feel you were successful?

In closing, I immensely enjoyed watching Sarkar Raj and I am looking forward to the third part. I wish you and your family the best in all your future endeavors and pray to GOD that your home be always surrounded with success, happiness and prosperity. Looking forward to your response.

Thank you for your acknowledgement, Mr Bachchan. I do have a question, though: I saw Sarkar Raj this weekend and, although I loved your, and Abhshek’s performance, I could not help wonder why the director chose to shoot the movie in such an oblique manner, with too many extreme close-ups, excessive off-screen framing. Could this convoluted and intense tale not have been told in a better way through simple framing of the shots and minimal background score? Would that not have heightened the impact of the movie? I am of course nothing more than a viewer of cinema, hence these queries.

    Morning Sir,

Surely the list posted on Day 62(i) is an incomplete one, the list appears to have been chopped off halfway through. Regardless of whether my name displays or not, I shall still continue writing to you, as I understand the arduous task of acknowledging your fans can be erroneous, due to large volumes involved.

    Have a nice day !

    Hello Amitji,

It is so nice that you are feeling better. I have updated all my friends about your improving health.

I have been wondering about this since I started visiting the blog, so here it is for you….

My post generally comes on page 28, 30, 50 or something like that. I try to rush to write my post but because of the time difference between India and NY it is always late. I tried to write from work but that has just not been possible. I know you read every post but I can only imagine by the time you get to my post it must have been a long day already….

For my last reply, I was thinking during the day I will tell you about Vitamin C and ginger and I wrote and read and re-read my post before submitting but after submitting I thought let me check if someone else mentioned it..and I saw it was mentioned over and over again in 500 previous posts :(

But no complains I get to speak to Mr. Amitabh Bachchan, when two weeks ago I could only, either, wait for movies or read half page somewhere. Life was as is good and now it gets better :)

I hope you enjoy every day!!

I received a press release today and I believe it may be of great interest to you.

I don’t think it would be appropriate to post the link to it on your blog. Your response to fresno11@gmail.com would enable me to send you the link.

Having said that, I am assuming you do not want your email address out in the public, so perhaps you can respond via an assistant’s email address, or just a temporary email created solely for this contact.

Lastly, it would be logical to include some sort of code in your email (as simple as a few letters and/or numbers) that also appears in your next blog post or MoBlog to assure that I am not sending the release to a curious fan posing as yourself.

    Regards,
    Tim

    Hi Amitji,
This is Fareed Ahmed from New York. Hope that you are well. I am the nephew of Shahab Ahmed, who produced Cinema Cinema with you in it back in 1978.
I just want to say that you are in inspiration to all us in here in the United States. Your dedication to your profession is fascinating. The way you treat your work and being professional is a lesson for all of here. I am a lawyer here in New York working in a Big Law Firm. I try at all times and follow your example of being kind and courteous to all and being punctual to everything that I do. I will be visiting Mumbai in August, but I think you will be on tour to the US & Canada from what I am told. I do watch your films when I have a chance and must say that each one is different. I especially liked your Sarkar Raj, your performance was very thought provoking. I wish you all the best in your future projects and the best of health for many years to come. I do hope that I have the honor and pleasure of meeting you one day.
    Respectfully,
    Fareed Ahmed, Esq.,

    What’s wrong with Rani ?

I found this video on the internet and i would like to know if Rani was on good term with your family ?

Maybe she has been hurt by the fact that you didn’t invite her in Abhi and Aish wedding.

    Hello Mr Bachchan,

When I was a kid, I recited your father’s poem and won a prize in a competition in my school. The poem was “Aaj utha main sabse pahle”. I have forgotten big parts of this poem and have been looking for it for a long time, but to no avail. I would like to teach this poem to my newborn now when he starts to speak :-)

It would be wonderful if you can somehow help…

    Thanks a ton in advance

I think the journos need a life - asking u abt your sunday brunches and veganism… jeez… there are people dieing in Somalia and perhaps much closer to home in the dilapidated areas of Bihar and Orissa… maybe asking them how they manage a day’s meal will be worthwhile!
You sir, my greatest respects to you for having the patience and decency to respond to such banal questions…

  124. Vytor says:

    Hello,

Okay, so I had some points on the interviews that you had posted on Day 61, but I realize that the interview you posted on Day 62 kind of summed up my intentions. Well partly anyway.

I really don’t understand why journalists ask you questions that have already been answered by you. On a more severe note, why do they ask you the same question within the same interview? Its as if they don’t pay attention to your answers. I understand that a journalist has to be objective as per the professional ethics involved, but that doesn’t mean that you ask the same question again and again. I’m sure that we all have oodles of common sense. I wish they’d learn to use it before reporting.

Now for more important issues (Day 62 - your thoughts), I believe that the perfection of an elite individual is something that is welcomed by those in a class below perfection. I’m sure it makes sense to you, but I’d wish to elaborate it further. Perfection, which has been defined by the masses, becomes the standard. This is what our world runs on and therefore this standard becomes something that all people of nations (developing and developed) strive to achieve. Once achieved, there are two things that occur. Either the nation becomes complacent, reveling in the standard of perfection they have achieved, thereby stunting their growth and acceptance of change. Change that occurs in the end whether you are ready for it or not. Another thing that can happen is that the nation realizes that there is more to attain towards perfection and they see an imperfection in the standard they have thus far achieved. So, the nation strives higher to gain perfection to an extent that it becomes elitist in nature.

There’s also the question of perfection. Due to the heterogeneous nature imbibed in people (by this I mean the individual), perfection stands as something different for every single person. In this case, the elitist (he/ she that is
