Some issues arose about the above. Mid-Day had published I was getting paid 115 crores for writing the blog. It was obviously untrue. BigAdda took umbrage and sent legal letters to the paper. A clarification followed, which was not to the satisfaction of the server. They explained their point. I wrote to the paper, the editor met me and it was decided to carry another clarification. Legal procedures have been dropped on my insistence, the above has been printed and all is peaceful.
Many among you had shown disdain and anger and abuse to me after the news first got printed. The truth has now been brought out. Need I say more.

How is Abhi doing now ? Hope he recovers soon now. Take it easy Amitji. One thing I’am nor sure, inspite of SARKAR RAJ being a big hit, all the major newspaper when they show the mid-year markscard for Bollywood, are not highlighting the boxofice performace of SR in a good light. It is shame that they cannot disgest your success. Instead always happy by pulling others down.

I wonder how Dr Harivansh Rai Bachchan knew so much about his Kayastha origin. He knew the name of his ancestors living seven generations ago. I faintly remember, one of them was “Manasa”.
In the same autobiography he writes that he never liked the word “Bachchan” and whenever somebody called him by that name, he felt uncomfortable and would get irritated. Perhaps his mother (Amitabh’s dadi) used to call him by that name affectionately.
Time has changed. Today “Bachchan” is the synonym of glamour, stardom and success. I am surprised why Amitabh Bachchan did not change this title ‘Bachchan” when he was struggling and giving flops after flops. Really courageous man!! 38 years back, the word “Bachchan” might not have sounded glamourous. It could have been a burden on Amitabh’s shoulders in addition to his flops. Anyway, strange things happen with great people.

Currently I am in US and here people makes million on their Blogs either its Technical / Political / Stock Market … there are some bloggers charge subscription fees to read their blogs.
I dont see any reason why people get angry one get paid for his work …

I watched a 150 min ‘MARLON BRANDO SPECIAL’ show on ZEE Studio. Though I always liked his acting (’ON THE WATERFRONT’, ‘A STREETCAR NAMED DESIRE’, ‘GODFATHER’, ‘APOCALYPSE NOW’), the show was an EYE OPENER in that so many respected members of the hollywood fraternity shared important insights into his ACTING AND PERSONALITY! Many of them attributed their ACTING SKILLS TO HIM! Even the Great Lawrence O’ Livier rated him above himself! Small wonder that you consider him as the GREATEST ACTOR! (as mentioned him in one of your blogs)

Nice clarification . Cause if people really got into thinking that 115 crores were being paid for a blog, they may start remembering the heydeys of 2000 when dot com companies without a business model attracted billion dollar valuations :-).
I wanted to share something with you today. I have been studying about screenplay and script writing for some time. I did some ballpark research about the same in the last few weeks. Of course the same is more of a passion for me, but the human mind is such that it cannot but try and look for benefit in everything it does.. so i looked up in google and tried to find out what the top screenplay writers in our country our getting. The top arguably amongst them would probably be Jaideep Saini and in one article i remember the kind of figures were under 10 Lakhs for a script (See http://www.bollywoodhungama.com/features/2006/08/24/1465/index.html for example) . Considering the skyrocketing valuations of the good actors ( i will avoid using terms like star and superstar) which go up in crores and ditto for the directors. don’t you think the time has come that the screenplay writer who i believe gives the soul to a movie is given his due. M Night Shyamalan post 6th sense commanded a valuation of millions of dollars ( 5-10 mill) for penning even movies like Stuart Little 2 (which he refused to pen). I know hollywood budgets are much higher but still in percentage terms it seems hollywood values its writer’s more than we at bollywood. This is not to say that we should consider this a Hollywood best practice and blindly copy it.. but content seems to be given due importance there a bit more, don’t you think.
Your observations , Sir would be nice to have.

Dear Mr. Bachchan,
I wasn’t even aware that there was a controversy regarding money, surrounding your blog. Whether or not you get money for the blog, is not my business. My business is to correspond with you through this medium and learn from your thoughts, ideas, and comments. But I’m glad you cleared the air. Truth prevails!
I wanted to share a humorous outtake/mistake from the movie Sholay. You may or may not be aware of it, I don’t know. I noticed it for the first time about 5 years ago I think, when I was watching Sholay. It happens so fast, it’s almost not noticeable, but as I have mentioned before, when Amitabh Bachchan is on the screen, I remain focused on him and forget everything else.
Anyway, back to the outtake. It is the scene where you and Mr. Dharmendra approach Soorma Bhopali (Mr. Jagdeep) to ask for half the reward money. Now there is a quick scene where you say “Soorma bhai.” The camera is pretty much focused on you. Right then, at that moment, you are on the verge of bursting out laughing. You don’t laugh, but your eyes close, your lips form the beginning of laughter to come, and of course after the camera stopped, you probably burst out laughing. 
It’s less than a split second but if you look for it, you will see it. I’m not trying to highlight any mistakes on your part. Obviously, acting is a very tough job. I just found it amusing and entertaining and it’s always fun to see outtakes. I thought I’d share it with you as you may also enjoy it. I’ve been watching Sholay since childhood and I just caught that scene 5 years ago. Like I said, it’s very quick, so keep your eyes glued on yourself. 
Well, if you decide to watch it, please share your thoughts and other interesting information during the making of Sholay. Would love to hear them.

You once again proved yourself, though you never need to. Indian media keeps making hectic effort to lose whatever little integrity that’s left with them. Reporting with such poor morals has made me end my 10 year old habit of spending an hour with newspapers. People say that my nature has changed (I have just passed out of 12th, and such perceptions are common) but the real truth is that I am disillusioned with the reporting that’s being done today.
However, I consider blogging is a two way medium. So , I will share my doubt with you. I have recently started blogging and have put in a lot of effort to make it profitable. I will not earn anything right now, but if I can attract more number of readers then I can earn from advertisements. I want to generate alternate income streams for me, so that it gives me time to go through the lean phase that any new start-up has. Is it morally incorrect to try monetizing your creative work? Looking for your thoughts.

I dont understand why the media is always out there to pull you down, if you do a good thing they want to write negative things to make it money related.
I still have a problem on why the media hasnt given out proper figure for your last two movies, Bhoothnath and Sarkar Raaj, had it been a YRF or a Karan Johar movie they would have already labelled it the biggest hit before the release, why is there so bias views about your movies.

This is the first time I hear such ridiculous news. I would never believe that you were paid to write this blog. There is so much passion in your writing, and many pieces are very personally. You certainly write and share your thoughts with us because you want to, not because of money!
Just to let you know that I for one has never doubted you. I have always believed what you say more than what the media say. After 69 days I can see you write from the heart. The media, on the other hand, in many occasions have written to stir, cause controversies and hurt people. It is so unfair.
Hope Abhishek will get well soon. I am watching Cheeni Kum for the nth time tonight. Wish there would be a sequel.

Media started to speak yours and your Dear Bloggers language. In previous post I had quoted from “Tahelka’s” article about TV rating and it was the same content which U had pondered before anyone else.
Now, in this contex I would like to ask “why the Indian film or rather Indian entertainment industry-which is a victim of unreliable media’s lie don’t come togethere? Why they don’t have a single voice? Why it seems that someone’s misery is others entertainment? Don’t they realize that today’s spectetors are tomorrow’s victim? This can’t be just personal battle.

An so what if you do get paid. Like anyone of us your time is valueable too. i would even go to suggest that you should get paid and donate the lot to a charity or cause that might help some kids or similar. I am sure bigdadda is making something from this so why not let it benefit those that need it.
Just an idea. Never believed you would take money as payment for simply sharing your time with us and we certainly don’t expect you to do it everyday, even twice a day.

Trust you’re well.
It’s good that you’re making your stand clear on issues that are incorrectly reported, which involve yourself and your family. At the end of the day though, its the media thats making moolah at the expense of your popularity.
Your film Main Azaad Hoon (which I think is one your best films ever) touched certain aspects of this ulterior motive of the press/media.
On another note, a sequel to ‘Main Azaad Hoon’ would be fabulous, lets call it ‘Azaad Rises Again’. I thought Tinnu Anand and Mukul Anand brought out your persona really well in their respective films.

Here is my take on the kind of reporting the media does today….In the quest to lure viewers media today needs bytes and that comes from these incidences…..A topic as silly as ” Amitabh Bachchan catches a cold ” becomes breaking news……would want to see the media being positive….Infact these shows have also created stars and have given many people a career. also was viewing the news yesterday on the mumbai rains and anybody who saw the news would have felt as if mumbai is getting submerged, rather than showing the same clip multiple times i would have preferred the media showing breaking news in which places water levels have started receeding and life getting back to normal….they need to pull out a leaf from your book of optimism SIr….

Now I have understood that why India is not progressing in Correct Direction. Because the people of India waste their precious time blaming each other, talking non-sense about each-other and indulging them-selves in mud sladging practice. I hope they should devote their time in constructive work.
For example, my daughter is in 10th now. I have expericenced that people around me are more worried about her rather than her parents. They keep on reminding me that again and again. It looks as if we have done some sin on reacing in 10th class. Isn’t it funny Sir?
I feel news channels should maintain their sanctity. as well dignity while talking and taking any issues. Why they cann’t talk about Green Revolution!? Why they do not pressurize/persuade Govt. to encourage use of Bio-fuel/Hybrid Cars?

It is perfectly OK to make money. I do not think that you should give a damn to the media for accusing you. You should not give any clarification to anybody for earning money by legal means. It is nobody’s business to know how much you earn as long as it is legal and you pay the tax for the same!!
Times of India published your blog on last Sunday’s edition. Are they not making money by selling their newspaper at your cost?

I am totally surprised that the question like this can be raised that u r taking money for writing in blog - in present days i think media needs only news whether it’s logical or not that doesn’t bother. take the same case of the reality show issue - no one trying to get the real reason from doctor - everyone making an issue from some other irrelevant sources. so the people who showed anger on the issue of taking money for writing here - i think they need to stop writing as if anyone has not having faith on his idol who is spending his time everyday for responding our comments- even i think it’s still worthy if you get paid also for that .

I never believed when the news came out about you being paid for posting on your own blog. That is because one will not write about how his own house/staff/family/body functions as a means of earning. This is equal to selling one’s own family members. I very much know that you have some principles, ethics in you - which exactly captivates me and millions more around the world.
Well, there is also the other side of the argument - what if you charge ?? Is it anybody’s business ?? I don’t think so ! You are a celebrity - everything you do sells. That is the only source of your earning because the day you stop moving, your life ends. There will be no advertisements featuring you, there will be no movies, you will no more be IIFA ambassador, nobody cares whether or not you are ‘Chora Ganga-Kinaare-wala’ ! Have you ever thought about this ? However, because you do not charge for such silly matters (say.. blogging), you will be remembered even if you are immobile, non-existing, passed-away before a decade !
Nevertheless, I know this blog is the hottest property today. It may be just 60 days old but once a person connects to it, he will do so again and again on every available opportunity. You are such a powerful magnet ! It is an universal fact that each second connected to the Internet is chargeable and somebody gains out of it. I don’t care - It is very cheap of me to be expecting
to be connected to a service free of cost, hence, I don’t mind paying to be connected to a facility to read about you, interact with you and feel close to you. Please dont worry about what others say.Let others go on trying their best to spoil ur image but we fans have one big blowing answer towards them ,we all love u because we are sure that ur are very good person a good citizen a source of happiness and solace to a lot and we are not fools to understand that these midday teasers want to spoil ur image which unfortunately they dont realise that it is impossible no matter how hard they try….

I’ve always wondered , whether a blog could be the reflection of one’s life. For celebrities such as yourself, the ‘aam janata’ is getting a bird’s eye view of the life and times of BIG B.
Good or Bad? Well, I work in a software company as a PMO, though IT has never interested me. I’ve always revered writing stories. But just looking at this whole blogging concept is giving me innumerable ideas on how an ‘ odd antisocial element’ can take advantage of what is being said to influence the common man.

Dear Mr B,
Most of us on the Big B Yahoo group and I have maintained that you should take legal action whenever something false is printed against you or your family. If the media can flaunt their power of press why can’t you flaunt the power of justice?
You might have seen that the media track back their words only when they are sent legal notices. If they got sued for millions, these editors and journalists would loose their jobs with no takers. This is when they realise that their power is not above the law and succumb.
Now that you are beating them at their own game, it is always better to give a second blow. They won’t have enough strength to stand up again with untrue and false stories.

Yesterday, the first promotional video appeared on TV.
I was WONDERED, SHOCKED AND DISSAPPOINTED.
WONDERED by seeing and questioning my self that where does our ACTOR OF MILLENEUM is heading toward, somewhere down in the basement.
SHOCKED to see how you film industry guys are taking our generation( GEN X) for granted.
DISSAPPOINTED to see how reckless you have became in choosing your projects and thinking that “ARE YOU REALLY THAT SHORT OF MONEY MR. BACCHAN?”
Tell me one thing Mr. Bacchan, do you really think GEN X is so dumb that it cant differentiate b/w the original and copied work at such a big platform where you will ultimately have to look at people for final verdict. people out of which 70% is GEN X. If you think so then i am again SHOCKED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Sir we are 21st century guys who are sumhow very well equipeted with this much of brain which can very well figure out and disconnect the person who tryn fool us on his turn after we finish our turn with all faith and geniuness in the person.
The promos and storyline( already on net and on channels) of GTGH( GOD TUSI GREAT HO) have remarkable and easily pointing similarity with HOLLYWOOD STAR JIM’S movie ” BRUCE ALMIGHTY”{ even your attires in the trailer matches with the same character of original version.}
Mr. Bacchan i am neither a film critic nor some 50+ man. i am a 22 year old guy who is looking for some sensible indian cinema to chill out whenever get bored of my studies. Film industry guys are spoiling the reputation of INDIAN GEN X all over the world. today when people all over the world are unanimously in agreement with this fact that INDIAN GUYS are far more hard working, intelligent and gutsy in comparison to their own country same age crop( be it a field of MEDICAL,IT, ER OR RESEARCH),you film industry guys are letting us down. Everyone epitomises IIFA or some other event for indian cinema going world class but every one know the reality that except NRIs no one in the outer world is still interested to look forward into our cinema.
if i am not wrong then you have once said that you doesnt think that our cinema needs westeren recognition like OSCARS then why do you become part of xeroxed copies of hollywood movies. when CHINA, our neighbour ASIAN COUNTRY can afford to get atleast 1 OSCAR every year, why cant we. And its not the matter of starving for any foreign award but its about getting the world recogntion. and if we dont want that then just why not to turn our complete back towards them and stop turning an inch and rotating eyes to look and copy their original ane remarkable work.

I am writing to a celebrity for the very first time in my life, only hoping that you would atleast glance through once. I keep my fingers crossed though….
Well a lot of people, imfact almost everyone tells me that all these award functions (Filmfare, IIFA, Zee Cine, Stardust etc.) in India are fake and do not reflect the truth. Most celebrities come only if they are given to sit in the desired rows (front ones are highest in demand ofcourse) or if they would be awarded or if they are given some act on stage. More so that, the winners are also determined on the same criterion.
Infact, even I believe that stardom is awarded and not the skills. That is pretty evident to everyone.
Wanted to get your opinion on this. I understand your position (as to how difficult it is to post something like this in public) to give a staright forward remark but atleast a response can make things clear to ardent fans of bollywood and the award ceremonies.
