I found today’s Hindustan Times article above, a very fair and unbiased attempt at putting across a topic and perspective, which would otherwise have remained perhaps hidden.
Artists often express opinions on the media and on many an occasion they remain just that, an opinion. The public at large seldom gets to hear what is expressed. But this article is a departure. It is healthy to observe this forthrightness. I saw Aamir’s interview on the electronic last night with Srinivasan Jain where he was asked a few uncomfortable questions on his attitude towards press and his take on film awards.
I appreciated 2 things there. The openness of the interviewer in bringing up these issues knowing Aamir’s inclination towards them and Aamir honest and frank statement on his opinion on media and awards, especially since they were not too comfortable for the media to hear.
There is a certain air of freedom in a lot of this generations’ activities and thoughts. They are a confident lot eager to get on and prove to the world that they cannot be held back. That life does not need to be lived in fear or apprehension. That if one does not work out the other will. That all is not lost. That they have the ability to create opportunities, to catch time by the neck and wring it to submission almost.
The new the different the unexplored does not surprise them any more. They either know of it and if they do not, are sure that they will.
What a wonderful state to be in. And what a wonderful state for us senior citizens to be a part of this evolution. This is a new India, a new world and I am so lucky to see it unfold before my eyes every day.
When I see young hopes, when I witness fresh talent and when I see their ambitions and goals it fills me with a sense of pride. We are on the right track and moving slowly forward. Yes there is much to be changed, much to be considered, much to be repaired. But, we must keep moving. If that stops we will stagnate and rot. We must think progressive and never diminish the factor of tradition and historical ethos we all so fortunately are blessed with, in our propulsion. A propulsion that will take us to fresh horizons.
Many readers wonder whether I read the papers myself, whether the markings on articles are an effort by my secretarial staff. No they are not. I read them myself and mark them too. The only help I require is to get them posted by the server as a private entry on my blog. I then enter it on my page and comment on it.
Some readers note the absence of my Moblog. My sincere apologies. I have been confined to either cinema theaters or dubbing studios in the past many hours, where it is mandatory that I switch this very handy tool of mine, off. But, I have been relatively freer now as I shoot on an outdoor location and I hope to make up for all the lost time. The vet Hospital is not in use for an animal sequence. The structure of the building is interesting and shall simulate another city another outfit. Hence.
I will be here for an extended period of time. Perhaps till mid night. I utilized the day to get over some important meetings, of which I shall talk more. I also fitted in a rehearsal for the Tour with Abhishek.
Aishwarya regains some strength. Jaya is back from Bhopal and her Mother does better and the electrician had his second surgery and it went well.
And I…
I now get into the dreaded mode of large beard and hair. Stuck on my face. So..
No food or drinks, because movement of the mouth disrupts the glue on beard. And no conversation other than dialogue.
And no more blogging either for the time being…
But I shall be back sooner than most of you can imagine
My love

Hey Mr. Bachchan,
Please make up your mind…for, when media critisises you, you cry hoax and if they praise you, all is well with the Fourth Estate. Few days back you were lashing out at media and then you wrote a post where you said media is your friend…whats this going on? I am confused…please explain.
On the hindsite, You are amazing…what an expression!!!!!!! I am disappointed with the small mistakes in your Hindi letter though. Infact, in Chini Kum I found out many mistakes (How can you say “Ha yeh fikr ho sak’TA’ hai?..there are quite a few more) Please improvise what your writers are scripting. We look up to you as the master of languages.
Wnderful ruminations on late Smita Patil. Why have I the feeling that the ‘mogras’ which she used to bring were sent by Rekha?

I’m happy that the mother of Jayaji, Aishwarya and your electrician improve!
Can you say to Aish that all her fans love her very much and are worried about her health.
Are you excited about the Unforgettable Tour? I can’t wait to see you all in London in August.
Take care of your health.

Can you save a drop of water from drying up by throwing it in the sea ?

Relieved to have you back. It’s just that you usually give us a warning first.
Thank you for posting that interesting article. I coulldn’t get it to enlarge correctly, but with some squinting I made it out. It’s good to read other star’s take on the media. Of course I liked what SRK had to say. I was glad to read what Kareena said about the improving roles and salary of actresses. If anything this article will further encourage reader’s to think for themselves when reading anything about the stars.
I believed that you read the papers yourself since in one of your posts you said it took so long now to get to the studio, which gave you time to peruse them.
I’m happy to read the good news about all that have been ailing. Maybe all things will be looking up from now on and no more disasters.
Do you have to go without water for the whole time that beard is on? Don’t you get dehydrated? I would think that you would need some water for your throat to recite your dialogues.
Love,
Rochelle

Dear Amitji,
Reading your stuff was my one bright spot in a cruel day. I have been criticized incessantly- surprise, surprise- for being too good in my work. It scares off others, I was told, and so no one is enthusiastic about working with you. How do I explain my pain? Whoever thought that working sincerely would the reason for making my existence so painful. Do you get to hear such ridiculous things? Of accusations of overpowering others by being in the same cinematic frame. Of top actors not wanting to be in the same frame as you, for fear of being overshadowed? How does it feel? I doubt if you plan to dominate anybody? You just do your job well. Why is being mediocre the easiest way to survive? Is striving to be good in your work a sin? There are so many questions and a gnawing pain which is eating into me.

Hi Amit jee,
I am in USA studying here for my masters in information systems, this is my first response on your website and I truely hope You would read it. I have seen the most worst days of my life after coming here, I was missing my country as I am here just after completing my undergrads from India. I had ear bleeding due to perforation, tough time in studies. At some point I decided to go back to home and leave studies in abeyance.
Than my father told me ” You have a choice to run away from your tough times, your failures…. but only untill u face them again!!” He said me even cinematic god like amit jee faced the toughest time both personally and professionally, and he faced it and see how!!
I decided if you can do it after 50 , why cant I. Thanks amit jee for holding me firm on the decision!! You never recognize what impact you have behind and beyond your own eyes!
Thanks
I ADORE YOU!

Hello Amitji
Glad to know that Aishwarya is ok. God bless her. Also glad to know that Jayaji’s mom is getting better. I am also relieved that your electrician is improving. God save him and his family.
I was actually missing your MO BLOG. Thanks for explaining.
I know you are enjoying your work. But somehow like many others feel that you should slow down a bit. To keep sitting without food, water and even talking for hours for shooting…. It is too much. I think you need to take regular meals, take adequate rest and work in between rests. But I suppose with so much money being put into the production of a film with you as a bet, I think may be you have to put in your best with all corresponding troubles. May God help you to go through your duties without much of problem for your body and health.
Take care and God bless.

You must be credited for reviving back Bollywood in the not-so-gullible readers like this author and his ilk.

Dear Respected Mr. AB Sir,
The article above u brought up is true.. I totally believe that when celebrities that are so huge exist, the media needs to indulge into happiness through making your life miserable. But I now feel, the people are gaining more intelligence and know what to pick up! Also along with this, there can be light put up on the very fact that today its NOT the much over hyped “young crowd”, but knowledgeable people who do not give air to such subjects.
HUMBLE REQUEST
M sure you watch television at times, if you get time then I would request you to surely watch this ridiculous show on MTV called “wassup youngistaan”. Features except Sunday, at 8.00 am.You will then know why do I ridicule these young crowd! The reason I want you to watch show is, it very much makes fun of all the great people like Sachin, few actors and dignitaries like you! They easily degrade lifetime achievers and project this attitude cumulatively called youngistaanis, which is not correct at all.You will then know how the too much attention given to our country’s young are going wrong. Atleast I am not the part of that disgust!
Sir, I have always respected and appreciated your acting skills and sense to reacting to the media. And for a huge star like you, it doesn’t take effort for common public to easily make the news hype negligible to the core!Hats off to your never ending spirit.
So, for the time being, hope your “morn and khana vratt” is happily going on!
Take care of yourself and family!
Love to all,
Janhavi

Hi,
Hmm… Things seem to be improving, as far as the media is concerned and one almost feels they can be applauded at times too. Maybe oftener than not? THAT would be good.
It’s admirable that you’ve pointed out well presented articles too.
Yes, I watched the Aamir Khan interview and you are right, there were certain awkward moments, but well handled by Aamir, as you will agree.
I’m gad that there’s a general consensus amongst you folks from the film fraternity, for the unity brings about a respect in the fans, which is most agreeable to see!
Wish you an easy time following the shoot. Good to hear all on the recovery front.
Best wishes

Sir,
I am an ardent admirer of yours. Of your on stage persona and off stage qualities. I am 36, kashmiri, male, presently in Delhi. I read this blog almost everyday although restrain from writing a comment for the reason that it is humanly impossible for you to read all comments. The chances of you, reading my comments are scarce. I don’t know, how this is handled! Today I read days 68-73. Just finished reading “trivia” from your biography on the website - imdb.com. Learned many new things about you……..Munna and Srivastava for example.
I will be writing more comments in future. I wish you read all my comments. My primary reason of writing this comment is to convey to you the following:
1. You are extremely busy. The way you manage life is almost unimaginable for lazy guys like me to think of. But do you have any regrets in life…..i mean do you miss out on some simple / plain things? I guess yes. I wonder if you have walked down a busy street on a rainy day in the last few years? I wonder if you have, off late, shopped for vegetables in a “mandi”. Don’t you miss such things? Or may be I am too innocently asking you these silly questions. As you have quoted somewhere “There are many things that I feel I have missed out on”.
2. The layman (including me) psychologically relate with our movies. We often (rather always) conclude that your present and past co-stars might be your very godd friends, which practically speaking, may or may not be true. We forget that you are a human being. For that matter every famous personality, actor….
Thinking of your prime time movies, my thought migrates and I think of Shashi Kapoor, Dharmendra, Shatrughan Sinha, Rajesh Khanna, Rekha, Smita Patil (you wrote about her yesterday),…..the list is endless. And Rajiv Gandhi of course.
I want you to write about them in your blog sometime or the other. I feel you have a commitment towards all of them. Apart from the TREMENDOUS talent which you hoard, your costars are also, to some extent responsible for the good work which you perform on stage. All of them may not be your good friends, but I feel you must still write about them.
I apologize for being too personal but factually speaking I am curious to know many things about your life……I will cherish that, the way I cherish your movies, and will also learn life.
I wish you sound health. Good health generates everything else. The greatest blessing, I thing is “swasth raho”.
Namaskar,
Sunil Kher (Khar).

Dear Mr. B.,
Two things today: First, I liked your answer yesterday to the interviewer who asked if you could lessen the stress in your life … I believe you asked why a stressless life should be a goal. It’s true that stress can be bad, but why should we escape stress and achieve a perfectly peaceful life in the first place?
Excitement is stress, but no one wants to go through life without excitement.
Yours is an enviable profession in many ways. The stress is great, I’m sure, but what a wonderful stress … work that makes people happy, travel to foreign lands, seeing new things, learning, always learning. A lovely life, stressful as it may be.
Secondly: Part of that stress of course is the constant buzz of the media around you, for good or for evil. But as was mentioned in the article you posted today, it’s part of the game, and without it there would be no cinema. Without promotion of films and stars, they’d go unseen.
So it’s all good, what you’re doing. You handle your profession well, you deal with the press wisely, acknowledging their importance but not exaggerating it. I don’t think anyone could do it better. It’s a balancing act that will go on until you’re out of this particular profession … which I hope won’t happen. The best thing I could wish for you is that you go to the end of your life playing parts you like in movies you like.
Have a terrific day …
Aloha from Hawaii …
Love, Dorothy

Dear Mr. Bachchan,
welcome back to us, missed your Moblogs today.
popular people are always under the media’s light, always subjected to such news, accusations, rumors and attacks by the media. yea the audience would love to read about its favourite actor or actress, but they wouldn’t like falsified or fabricated materials and news. it is annoying to the person involved in the news, and it is also underestimating the minds of the readers.
like what Salman Khan said in the article ‘it will come back to them’, because people are now aware of the methods they resort to to gain attention, the manipulation of truth and invention of stories.
and actually i found it ridiculous to try to interfer in personal activities and personal lives of any popular figure. they are human beings, before being popular figures, they have the right to enjoy their privacy, without anyone trying to sneak in to know everything.
good to hear of Aishwarya’s improvement, and that Miss. Jaya is back, hope her mother is much better, and hope the electrician is getting well also.

Huge amount of money is tied to every media avenue. Everything that is being reported has to be read with a grain of salt. Yes, the new generation thinks everything needs to be transparent but it just will not happen - some things need to be left untouched. There is a certain beauty in respecting that. I think the new generation is more in a state of information overload - not valid info but tid-bits of crap. I still consider myself the new generation - but I have the maturity to understand the perspective and wisdom of the generations before me. Anyway, we live in a world of slaved media, of course there is some independent reporting but to sift good from bad is a tough job. AND…celebrity gossip or any gossip is just petty - it has to die, for that matter everything has to eventually die. So my attitude is - whatever!!!
Hoping your awkwardness with the beard and all passes away soon and we hear more from you. Some though provoking writing - that is what I look forward to.
Good night!

Dear Amitabhji,
Namaste! It’s post 73 and I was born in Mumbai, India in 73 but that’s just a coincidence.
You have my wife, Sapna, hooked! Its become part of her daily routine to getup each morning sipping chai while reading your latest blog posting. Through her you have become a part of our daily discussion and a virtual friend. Amitji, you must know the tremendous impact you have had on our generation. I lived in Dubai for a decade in the 80’s and the locals there (the entire middle-east for that matter) got exposed to the Indian culture and language thanks to you. You are a genius at acting and your talent so amazing that it creates a lasting memory. I can’t think of anyone else who in the last forty some years has consistently delivered exceeding acting brilliance in a variety of character incarnations. You must write about this creative energy, the source of your genius that guides you and enables you to perform with perfection and immense intensity. I hope someday you would write a book (not an autobiography as you said you would not write that in a prior blog posting) providing an insightful understanding of Indian Cinema and ethos as you witnessed it from its zenith.
Looking forward to the Unforgettable experience of seeing you on July 27th with Abhishek and Aishwarya.

Hey, there is an Iranian - Sahar - on this blog, who is desperate to catch Mr Bachchan’s attention. His blog link: http://amit-fan-club.blogfa.com/
I support his persistence. More so, since one of images on his blog carries a very interesting shot of my favorite singer Kishoreda with Big B and Iftekhar, the yesteryear character artist.
http://i30.tinypic.com/2cqbha9.jpg
What could they be speaking about? It seems both Iftekhar and AB are sharing a joke at KK, who looks somewhat undecided how to react the next moment…lol…

SirG,
Your effort to awaken the conscience of the media in your own way has started showing results. Its good to see you happy about a few positive things happening.
Your humble request to Aamir in AAJ TAk today morning Live to work together was very heart warming.

Good Evening Sir,
Hope you are fine and busy as usual with your schedule. I am just a visitor on this blog and i think this is a great opportunity for all your fans to keep in touch with you. The best thing is that you like reading just like me hence i shall be able to share with you the books that i read and may be you can share some with me. I am reading a book ‘The Secret’ by Rhonda Byrne. I think its a great book and a must read. I like reading inspirational work and i thought you may like it too.
Do give it a try.
Please convey my regards to the entire Bachchan and Nanda Family.

Dearest Respected Mr. Bachchan,
My 8th Time writing. Like you, I too keep a record on how many times I get to write to you and inshallah one day you might actually reply to one of my writings. Here’s what I think of Journalists/Paparazzies…Can’t live with them, Can’t live without them. As long as you (Mr. Bachchan) believe in yourself and your fans, no media can ever cause any harm, many have tried and all have failed, you’re still at the top of the mountain and only going higher. Keep it up!

Dear Amitji
your thoughts about ssmita patil and that nostalgia was very inspiring. pls share with us such great moments of legends such as kishore da, pancham da, sanjeev kumar, smita patil, and many many more……
Heard you aaj tak interview with aamir and team, jaane tu rocks and nice to see u give them support, blessings and love. 6 months back media had misquoted aamir and u both had a hick up , nice to see the diginity both of you have shown.
talking about this generation and u r sense of pride. on a general level you are bang on. this generation the dhonis. yuvraj, the ranbirs and deepika’s are confident and have their values intact and very humble. But we are talking about exceptional talent. the average youth in the country specially rich class and from affluent families and cities is a big letdown. agreed it is person to person and case to case. But at age 28 i find the 23 yr olds in this country very medicore, passion less, and they have got things easily in life hence now struggle for them is difficult. but life, jobs, tasks, targets and relationships are demanding. they dont value it.

Sir,
I am an ardent admirer of yours. Just finished reading “trivia†from your biography on the website - imdb.com.
I wonder if you have, off late, shopped for vegetables in a “mandiâ€. Don’t you miss such things? Or may be I am too innocently asking you these silly questions. As you have quoted somewhere “There are many things that I feel I have missed out onâ€.
The greatest blessing, I thing is “swasth rahoâ€.
Namaskar,
Sunil Kher (Khar).

So what I heard before is true! It’s the sound of a real man talking. No expression will do justice to my wish to thank the enigma of a man, for giving me the opportunity to soar high with his words. I imagined him talking, the way he does, ponderously , digging out thoughts carefully, as I went on to read him.

Mr. Bacchhan,
I must comment on the news article. I don’t agree that all rumors die a natural death. Unfortunately most gullible and hateful people out in the world thrive off off negative news about celebrities and society. Those type of people will believe any and everything the corrupt media puts out no matter how ridiculously fabricated it all is in reality. I also have to somewhat disagree that the media can write whatever they choose to write about celebrities.
I think the media needs to be conscious about always presenting the facts, honesty, and truth about everything they are reporting about and that includes celebrities. The tabloid media will write about anything and most of it is lies and malicious untruths. However its unfortunate when the supposed legit news media has gone down the same path writing stories about celebrities and even newsworthy issues in an irresponsible and untrue manner.
The media puts out too much that is fabricated, sensationalized, and malicious these days. And they need to cease this practice because not only is it unfair to the cele
