VISHAL TOSHNIWAL writes again to say he still believes I over reacted on the nurse, lying in abject poverty, matter. And he now informs me that his girlfriend is nurse Julie’s daughter !! Her name is Susan !!
Well, you have coerced me to give you details from my side as well.
On the 5th of June 2008, a sum of Rs 2 lakhs was deposited by me in the Savings Bank Account of Julie, in the State Bank of Mysore, Bangalore Branch. I have the copy of the draft and account details, which I do not make public for reasons of security and ethics.
This deed was done more than a month ago as you will observe.
I hope you take care of your girlfriends Mother.

Wow, a lot has happened on your blog in the past week or two. Pics from your Indore tour to media reports on how the media sensationalizes/distorts the facts to your journey down memory lane to one of the fabulously shot songs JUMA CHUMMA DE DE to you reminiscing about Smita Patil to Abhishek not winning any award for GURU (IMHO he definitely deserved one) to you pondering on what would happen when time deals a cruel blow when all the glamour and glory is lost. Wonderful thoughts all of them. Though, I have to mention here that you should have stopped and offered Mr. Bharat Bhushan the ride that you had thought about. After all how many times have you come across him standing in a bus stop like this and who knows he would have appreciated it.
Couple of things that I have learned in my 40 yrs of existence (BTW I just had a great 40th birthday, not that you care but I like to mention anyways…funny thing is my wife kept saying that she has requested Amitabh Bachchan to wish me on his blog…even though I knew it was a joke and was not possible somewhere deep down in my heart I wished for it to be true…naive of me but hey you never know!! okay enough digression…)
is that
a) jab jo khayal man mein aaye usse pura kar lena chahiye, nahi to sochte hi rah jaayoge and
b) never assume what the other person will or is thinking without doing your deed. finish your deed and then let them have their say, you will be surprised by the comments.
anyways, time to move on and focus on your forthcoming UNFORGETABLE TOUR. I have my tickets booked for the August 15th show in Nassau Coliseum and look forward to see you perform there. All the best for all your shows on the tour!
Another observation going through your posts from last few days is that you are now getting back to your readers (cant call them fans if they doubt you) about their view on what you have done for any individual or for the country. Just forget them and why even bother, as long as you know what you do and your conscious is clear that’s what matters… no need to pay heed to unscrupulous characters like these.

Arent you ashamed to ask for money from a third person.? I can be really blunt here and say yes Julie took care of Mr Bachchan but as a nurse wasnt she just doing her duty so why this hue and cry from your side saying he has to reciprocate that by giving her money? Be a man and take care of your girlfriend and her mother and stop asking for charity and belittle Julie’s name.

If i may say with the greatest respect and admiration for you, i dont see why you need respond to these people in such detail! Yes, we do need to stand up for our selfs, and yes we should look to clear any mis understandings, but this guy and many others are living up their 2 seconds of fame at your expence.
Please, respond to me, respond to your fans, respond to people who have prayed for you in good times and bad, respond to people who are eager to see your work good or bad, and when seeing any bad eagerly looking forward to your next.
I remember around 4 years ago, saw you up close in the gym, i was eager to say hello, but more importantly i was more concerned about intruding your privacy and disturbing you.

lol :). Mr Bachchan - I like your reply. I do not understand the theory behind this. Just because a nurse helps you ( guess she was only doing what she was paid to do) recover does that establish a moral debt on you. Is that indebtness established over everyone she has ever helped during her career as a nurse ? or is it because you have the means to help her while other don’t ? or it is because you are the kind of person who in all his kindness seems vulnerable and susceptible to emotional blackmailing ?
I dont mean to sound inhuman but at the same time i believe that the expectation in this instance was unfair.I believe, we all owe to society our gratitude and should give back to the world a part of what the world gives us. However, this should be a personal choice based on ones desire and assessments.
I think its very sad that we the so called fans can get a icon we adore so upset that provokes him to share details of his philanthropic activity.

Long time back in late eighties and much before Agneepath the movie I had a Cassete which had several poems by Harivansh rai Bachchan ji recited by you.
one of them was ofcourse Agneepath, the other one was - I just remeber a line where it said something like– In logon ne bhagwaan ko mandir mein band kar diya hai, so that woh hamare karm na dekhe, main hee aa jaaoonga , jab mujhey uske darshan karne honge
I lost that cassete and have wanted to get another cassete or CD ever since but do not know where to get it from?

Mr. Bachchan,
It was not neccesary for you to provide proof that you have actually helped the nurse who is going through financial woes. The very fact that YOU knew the real truth of the matter that you had actually helped her by sending money a month ago was all that was needed. But since you have gone and made it clear in this post that you have sent 2m lakhs to the nurse in order to help her situation. Then this a very generous and commendable gesture on your part.
That money should very much help take care of her. I hope her relatives are actually using that money to help take care of her. I hope her relatives have not squandered the money you have sent to her and are not trying to fleece more money out of you on this matter. However this should be the end of it. There is no need to continue to talk about this issue or to entertain any other unjust accusations from the blogger vishal toshniwal. Mr. Bachchan, you have done your part by sending the money to help her and that is all you can do. It’s time to let this matter be. Its in God’s hands now.

I had read Vishal’s last comment hours ago. I had wanted to address him too but having problem with my computer - signal low and constantly cutting off!!!. Been trying to post this for ages!!! I don’t even know if this will get sent or not….
Really you didn’t have to disclose! But I suppose I can see why you felt it necessary. I had already taken faith that you had helped that lady. And I am sure many more had rightfully assumed the same conclusion.
But since reading Vishal’s last post where he himself revealed of his relationship with Julie “the nurse I am left with questions…

Although I would say that you replied very well to people like Vishal, However I have strong objection to your responses to an ordinary mortal like him as he is simply exaggerating the issue here.
You were treated by Nurse ‘X’ while you were seriously injured and recovering in a hospital. The nurse was doing her duty and you were lying in the hospital as a common man. Life , injury and survival is not within one’s hand not even Amitabh Bachchan or for that matter in that Nurse’s hand. It is the supreme authority who decides when to take that precious breath away from someone.
This therefore means that all that happened during those few months was an interaction between 2 human beings doing their jobs one as a care giver and the other as injured person.
Now if that person happens to be the biggest superstar of the country and the nurse obviously having aged and fallen under bad times , someone from obscurity like this Vishal guy suddenly escalates this issue and tries to give it prominence which it does not deserve. If he is so concerned about Julie’s plight then as a prospective son-in-law he should be the first to do whatever he can do (beg,borrow or steal) to cure her if he is really concerned which I doubt he is. Although you went to the extreme distance of explaining your largess you could have easily ignored this as just a bark. I have spent a lot of precious words here as I felt quite upset by this ungrateful person when he questioned the most sensible icon of the country.
Amitji the poems that you have published today from Late Shri HarivanshraiJi’s collection are undoubtedly dipped with sarcasm and contain a lot of deeper meaning which everybody in this modern world has conveniently forgotten in the race to accumulate worldly goodness.
Keep writing and publishing these fantastic proses as it brings us close to humanity and makes us become better person.
Take good care of yourself and rest enough to make sure the old engine is charged for the next day’s run. This engine has to last long and pull a lot of weight still …….

LOL…this is hilarious. Something like chor calling coal black. Oprah Winfrey (the world’s first black billionaress) discovered that she was pulled in EVERY direction, people asking for money (relatives as well as charitable institutes as well as strangers). Then she put her foot down. She decided which causes she cherishes (e.g education; girl child) and devote her time and money only to THOSE causes that are dear to her. Mr Bacchan needs to come up with policy similar to Oprah or maybe emulate Bill Gates by creating a charitable arm in his company.

I don’t think you should have been “coerced” into providing this information. Your word is certainly enough for myself and I suspect for many others like me. I would also suggest that you not be so wounded at such clearly scurrilous accusations. That you are not more thick-skinned in these matters clearly indicates your sincerity and yet perhaps you ought to be ‘harder’ in these matters. Because others might coerce you into providing all sort of information based on this. I do concede that this matter is a little out of the ordinary since Toshniwal claims to have direct relations with the nurse’s daughter. All I can say is that he has found a most dubious method to raise the money for his girlfriend’s mother! I doubt Julie would approve of his harassing of yourself in this matter. In fact she would probably be a little mortified to learn that she is being embarrassed so severely in the matter when she has no part in it and when the person being pestered has already helped! Ultimately I question the sincerity of all such people. I have noticed quite a few responses along similar lines elsewhere on your blog. I think that to begin with this coupling of a legendary movie star (yourself) with acts of charity should be resisted. There is certainly greater responsibility on those who are blessed with a greater name. At the same time no one can ‘demand’ such acts of anyone else. It is particularly hypocritical when one considers how little anyone does in other ‘regular’ walks of life. Everyone has this responsibility, not only those who are public figures. This move whereby one absolves oneself of all responsibility to do anything and expects everything from public figures is one I am deeply suspicious of. A friend of mine made the wonderful point on a blog the the other day that perhaps we should stop celebrating Einstein for his relativity theory and first inquire into how much of a ‘good samaritan’ he was. Then we should similarly investigate all important public figures, living and deceased! This entire idea is pure hogwash! I know for a fact that you have done a lot and continue to do a lot in all sorts of ways for all sorts of causes and public interests. In a word ‘charity’. It is anonymous which is why it is truer charity than anything else. I love that saying about the left hand not knowing what the right hand has given. To this extent I regret Toshniwal extracted this kind of confession from you. Do not be wounded so much. This world is full of the ethically challenged who prove this every day by among other things casting doubts on the ethics of others. Incidentally in this entire discourse there’s one thing that went unnoticed. When Julie was ‘helping’ you as a nurse was she not doing her job? Or does one choose what patients one helps in a hospital? Evidently you owe your nurses something more than most of us other ‘ordinary citizens’ when we make trips to the hospital!This whole discussion Toshniwal has started is really such a farce. Wish he would use his time more wisely and start helping his girlfriend’s mother (if indeed he is speaking the truth in this matter) instead of launching invectives against you!

I would like to highlight the fact that there is no way for you to know what kind of person is writing on your blog. All you have is a name and the hope that people will be honest when they write something. VISHAL TOSHNIWAL is a perfect example. First he made a big accusation on you saying that you have not done anything for nurse Juli and now he is mentioning the fact of his realationship. I think its very unfair. But at the same time I pray for the nurse to recover soon and may God bless her. As I have mentioned earlier, please BE CAREFUL. i think this was not Neccerssory to give the details,
if he was so wise ,or anybody, who understands the situations into what, YOU or anybody who is famous gets traped , will not talk rubbish .No need to answer them even if you give them blood they will tell you that you only gave them blood (becoz you are big B ) so no need and above all, i dont know the exact shloka from sanskrit (i had an extra subject intead of hindi in class 10th )but it meant ” you can never make everybody happy ” .. if you are a servant and work more to impress your master he will think you want more money and if you are a master and you talk to your servant nicely then he will think you want more work and so on ..
so be careful or as my grandfather always says (be carelessly careful so that no body knows that you are being careful)and i want to know more about the man who took poison coz you did not give him 25 lacks for his business , wat happend to him was he saved stupid man , every body should know that even god helps them who help themselves .

After reading your previous post (where you explained how you don’t like disclosing about your donations) I feel very sad that you were coerced into giving the above mentioned transaction details.

The expectation of high rewards is so high from people who earn good money….and amazingly this is very common among many people across the world.
This makes me think that does someone providing any kind of service will diffentiates between people with money and no money….because if not then why different expectations for rewards. Whether someone making decent money and other making good money, they all pay for the service provided. So why this extra expectation from someone making good money…
As much as I from the bottom of my heart want Julie to get better, but I feel ashamed of people like Vishal T.

There is absolutely no need for you to react or be answerable to any tom, dick or harry. Like all of us, you continue doing what you feel like doing and to whom you feel like doing and for the causes you believe in. Ours is a democratic society, which gives this right to everyone of us. Just because you happen to be a celebrity, no one should try to gain their 15 mts fame by attempting to tarnish yr image. You entries in Hindi will inspire me to learn the language seriously one day. I told someone not long ago that If I had more time I would learn Hindi so I can speak proper Hindi like Amitabh Bachchan!
Politics, unfortunately, is considered by most people involved that it is just a game of power. When they are in the circle they have lost their sight and think only of what they can gain personally. It happens everywhere in this world.
Politics has corrupted people, or people has corrupted politics?
I must say that the bravest are those who enter politics unarmed, hoping that their good intention for the mass will manifest if they really try. Little do they know it is not that easy. Not only that the chance of them serving as ’saviour’ may not be fulfilled, but in the process they might also be accused of the ’sinner’ themselves.
Some have learnt the hard way and withdrawn. Some have blended in and become comfortable. Politics creates environment where people cannot tell black from white, and right from wrong. Power really is a dangerous thing if taken by the wrong hands.
I hope you are not too upset with Mr VISHAL TOSHNIWAL. Whatever perception he has of you, it cannot change the fact that you have been generous and done the best you can to help the lady. You know this and it is the truth.
Of course, it is very hurtful to be accused of something you have not done. But please do not let people’s negative remarks damage your confidence or feelings. They probably say these things just to get your reaction/attention. We always have faith and trust in you as a decent human-being, and no one can sway us!

Hello Mr. Bachchan, thanks for those “Kaivita’s”..on day 75 you had mentioned about Bharat Bhusan, I m wondering after knowing his condition did you arrange an meeting with in your own film fraternity to help him? Wasn’t it possible for you guys to arrange an Amitabh Bachchan night , collect the funds and give it to Bharat Bhusan?? I have heard Raghuvir Yadav a few times saying “it’s better to get some cash instead of Awards” …

I am a physician myself at present in US we work hard as MD or Nurses not to get more then customary for our services……………. we dont wait for Big B or else to get into hospital and EXPECT to be helped later if needed…………. Big B is generous enough to even contribute………… I wont have done this………..not a single penny, though I would have contributed to a trust fund if any opened to help the nurse who took care of me ( hopefully not)

Something is wrong with Vishal. My sympathies to Julie for having such a potential son-in-law. He seems to be jumping the gun without verifying facts. Thanks Amitji for your help to this needy lady. I certainly am with you that such things are not publicised, but for people like Vishal!
And believe me, he would have approached you even if his girlfriend had some financial needs - of course the argument being that she is the daughter of the nurse that took care of you.
Vishal, how about you also put your mouth to action and do something for Julie, who is the mother of your girlfriend.

One thought Vishal was like most of us, a hardcore Big B fan, once he placed his apology. However, his failure to be informed about Mr Bachchan’s help, keeping in mind his so-called closeness to Julie, now raises strong doubts about this whole issue.
First of all, why should Big B worry about this lady, why not Vishal himself? Why keep running for alms from one corner to another? This sounds strange, and I sympathize with Mr Bachchan very much now, that he has to silently suffer so much due to these unmindful, selfish elements. How could anybody demand for money so bluntly? Had the money been offered to somebody closely known by the Bachchans, then it would make sense. But this lady wasn’t any of those immediate people…was she? Yet Big B had to help her just to keep PAAGAL mediawallahs silent.
I too ended up writing a sympathetic message for Vishal last night. But, now feel it could have been avoided. There are doubtful figures posting around at the behest of media, it seems. Better keep silent on these issues in future: my Teesri Kasam!

I am surprised that this one person could get to you so badly. There is a phrase “ignore barking dogs” and that is what you have to do. Aap ko kyun lagta hai ki aapko kisi ko bhi apne charitable kaam ka hisaab dena hai. You have to ignore some ppl like this person. Would love to read more about your memories of these various special shots..or scenes which affected you the most.. or made you laugh the most.. the pranks that were played on the sets. I occassionally read the comments of other fans on this blog. Some of them are quite irritating and obnoxious but I ignore them for they do not merit any consideration. But it seems this person has some ULTERIOR motives. There are many that come to mind but I refrain from mentioning them here. I am, however, reminded of my late Physics Professor’s wise words which I repeat - ‘There are two ways of becoming popular - one by sheer hard work and dedication; the other by shouting like a madman on the chowraha!’

One thing, I’m not certain about is, the authenticity of Vishal Toshniwal’s claim that Julie is his girlfriend’s mother. I mean anybody could have cooked up this story to seek your attention one way or the other. Anyways, regardless of all this, you’ve done a great deed by saving Julie’s life. I’m sure Julie and her family will always be grateful to you for this noble gesture. Surely it must given you immense satisfaction in doing the same !

In the past when ABCL, was not doing god, you could have easily declared it bankrust and taken away a easier path without paying sinle paisa to the stakeowners, however you did work hard and paid all the dues, which itself shows how genuine you are.

Aha! This episode reminds me of this beautiful movie, I believe called Ek Anokha Faisla(with Pankaj Kapoor), which I believe is a copy of the English movie 12 Angry Men. It’s about a jury deliberation. But it portrays so well how opinions (and prejudices) can eventually be traced back to your past experiences and your background.

It is wrong for Toshniwal or whoever to ask Mr Amitabh that he should undertake charity, donate etc. It’s upto him whether he wanted to help the person who nursed him. Didn’t he pay the hospital bills for the care he had received ? Toshniwal wasn’t upfront and didn’t tell us why he was rooting for this nurse in particular!! Now we know why? Amitabh can not keep on paying 2 lakhs here, 2 lakhs there.
We will be justified in asking Amitabh to come clean when supposedly AmarSingh gifted Ferrari or some other expensive car to his son as a Birthday Gift. Some doubts will be casted upon him when he befriends with disgusting people like AmarSingh. Amar Singh doesn’t even know how to speak two sentences properly in English, yet he is qualified to draw comparison between Bush and Advani.

Vishal Toshniwal, I understand that your girlfriend’s family is going through a difficult time with her mother’s health. Just a couple of things that I don’t understand.
1st. You are ranting and raving but obviously Julie would like to keep these matters private otherwise she would have told you that she has received the money. You are creating unnecessary tensions for the family.
2nd. us ordinary people meet and receive help from thousands of people in our lifetime, imagine how many someone as famous as Mr. Bachchan must meet. From the nurses, doctors, midwives that brought us into this world to teachers, friends, colleagues, strangers, the guy that cleans the roads at night, the people who make sure we have electricity, etc., etc., (you get the picture). Each is doing his or her job as I do mine. But, one day it just so happened that while I was working and being paid for what I do, I helped someone who was financially more affluent. Where is the sense in that I should demand money from this individual? (In dire straits, I could request but I have no merits to demand, that is up to the individual if they feel that they are able or willing to) Honestly, India’s population has reached 1,129,866,154 (July 2007 est.), and out of that majority know who Mr. Bachchan is, then where is the logic that he would individually help all. It is impossible.
I also question your motives, be it your 15 secs of being known as the guy that is the boyfriend of the daughter of the nurse that cared for Mr. Bachchan. I suggest concentrating on and fulfilling your own life and let others be. A speedy recovery to Julie’s mother.

You do not owe any answer to anybody in this world, like you said, “I am not answerable to anyone” do the things which makes your soul happy, what you feel like doing to help people in time of crises but do not make issue of what you have done for people of India. Accept critism in more positive way and do not overreact, I know you get hurt by people’s comment but believe me they are just testing your temper, or wanted to make you feel bad about yourself, and the whole industry and janta knows that you are a noble, sincere and sensitive person, what you have done, no one could ever think of doing for people of India. You have shared love among us. You have shown us as how to behave decently with our family more importantly society as whole. You have united as a strong community wether Hindu, Muslim, Sikh or Christian, we are all one and you have shown this in your movie to love each other and sacrifice your most important thing for the sake of family or society. I have grown up watching your movies and I have a very strong, loving and caring family, MASHALLAH!!! its all Allah’s blessings and of course your character in the movies shown us to come closer to each and be one!! I am great admirer of you and you are still strong and good looking as ever!!! i feel it was a well written polite entry. and please tell us if he was wrong in making any of the statements, bcos we dont know the real inside story. was the work already in progress when he posted the comment??
please discect his comment to prove he was wrong the way you did to vishal.
or are you scared he is 100% right and true to his comment.

I just saw the promo of God Tussi Great Ho and I was just wondering, and I apologize for asking this question like some journalist would, but was there any awkwardness working with Salman for the film considering the circumstances? Also, this is the more important thing that I care about more and that is do you have any idea when The Last Lear is going to release? It released at the festivals and unfortunately the average viewer doesn’t get an opportunity to see it then, and I have read great things about it and I really would like to see it, so when do you think it will release? Normally I know the release date falls in the domain of the produces and distributors, but since I can’t contact them you’re the next best option. I would greatly appreciate a response to the status on the Last Lear, or perhaps maybe you could do one entry on the status of your films and their expected release dates or something? Thanks for your time and I hope you have the energy to keep blogging even after you retire (which I hope doesn’t happen before you reach 100 years old).

I understand why Vishal Toshniwal was no made aware of Mr. Bachchan’s monetary help by the family of his girlfriend - all Toshniwal after is, the money. He wants to know how much is come from where so that he blackmails the Nurse’s family for his share. You have questioned very correct about Toshniwal - for sure he may not have anything for leave alone the community even his own parents ! Now, he is off to rob his would-be-in-laws.
Sad that Mr. Bachchan declared how much is given. Now, the poor lady has doubled her problems !

Dear Mr Bachchan, I had been watching the IIFA on TV a few days back, in which you had mentioned how global warming is close to your heart. Without being too imprudent, may I have the audacity of pointing to you the obvious - it is easier to preach than to practice. It was rather infruriating to watch your industry clan talk about switching off their lights while leaving their respective houses. Wouldnt it have been better if the IIFA ceremony was made greener, the amount of lights/air-miles/cars being used could have been avoided by using alternatives - were they even thought about? Sir the film fraternity including yourself uses no end of cars/vanity vans, how many of these run on clean fuel? How many (eg Leonardo Di Caprio who uses a hybried vehicle) practice by example by driving hybrid vehicles? How many movies have been made by practising green principles? The IIFA ceremony and the green wash of 3 minutes that we viewers were subjected to, would have been far more meaningful if we would have known how much carbon emissions did this ceremony avoid as against any other award ceremony. Sorry for the long post and thank you for your time.

I have visited your blog for the first time today, just out of curiosity and found your writings honest, profound and very articulate. Just like yourself… I also read some responses shared by readers and was appalled at the language used by some fans, specially the younger ones. The accusations of people, their encroachments around your private property and ever burgeoning unrealisitic material demands amaze me and put me in awe at how you handle all this day after day.
I strongly believe that your personality and discipline are excellent examples for people like me (age 42, married, two children) to stand out and excel in what-ever we do. I believe your success is a result of your hard work, integrity and discipline and always try to emulate your these qualities in my personal life too. You are also a great family man and the way you handle and motivate your family members, motivates me too. why dont you draft in a production company to host a show on poetry in India on TV. Quiz was revolutionized by KBC, Laughter Challenge launched stand up comedy etc. I am sure a poetry show which showcases best poets of India (past and present) and explains…through a beautiful way…what poetry could me would ignite interest in Indian poetry, which is more of rigmarole in school now and is forgeotten as soon as possible. It will not only honor our poets of yore, but also bring back poetry in center of litreture in India. May be our poets will be able to become financially more secure and write better.
If you ever decide to do this show (small series etc), pls do call me. I would ilke to come and meet you…:))))))
