San Francisco, USA Freemont July 28, 2008 7:25 pm
Just back from press conference at Hotel in San Francisco after last nights show here and it has been unique.
It is rare for the media to spend half an hour praising the principals they are about to grind before a meet, but that is exactly what happened. They had not seen anything like this in the last 20 years ! Wow !
By my own rather self deprecating standards, this was awesome. Thank you press. And thank you San Francisco. You guys made our night and day and many many days and years impossible to forget !!
I am rushing to catch a flight now to New York, so will not be able to spend much time in describing the last 2 shows, but as soon as I get an opportunity I shall. I am desperately trying to post some photos just to give you an idea of what we are experiencing. It is a madness i have not witnessed in years.
But more later…
Love you,

RESPECTED AMIT JI,
First of all I would like to appreciate your performance in Los Angeles. I was one of the spectators. You were so sick but you still managed to perform just for your fans.
Secondly I ‘d like to tell you that Your performance was MARVELOUS, OUT OF THIS WORLD. Specially the kavita from your dad. You were awesome. You know it was a dream come true when I saw you from so close. When I was 4 years old I use to say I would marry Amitabh Bachchan. But when I grew up I realized that you were already married. Well let me just tell you that at this time I am only 30 years old. I was only 4 when I use to think that. So you can understand how much I love you and respect you.
Wishing you all the best for future shows.
Hoping to hear from you maybe only a personal line with your autograph will surely be appreciated.
LOVE

Hello Mr. Bachchan …
We are HUGE fans of you and your family.
We were @ the show yesterday @ Oracle Arena. We were waiting and watching as one by one you all arrived for the show and then went inside and thoroughly enjoyed the 3.5+ hours of entertainment. We were singing and dancing along with the crowd on the main flow and had great seats that afforded us fantatic views of all of you. We came back out in time to watch you all leave and wave you off.
Today I arrived @ the hotel in Fremont in time to see Abhishek and Aishwara (she is so beautiful) leave and then Ritesh (so sweet and unassuming) and finally the main attraction … you and Jaya leave for the airport. How I wish, along with the other fans @ the hotel, that there had been more time for you stop so that we could see more of you and get some pictures … but we were so happy and excited for the glimpse that we did get.
I became a fan of yours in 1996 when I started watching Hindi films and then in April of 2002 I saw you and a group of other actors returning to the Mumbai Airport. Your personality is so magnetic … just watching you interact with the many fans that bombarded you was amazing. You were so gracious and stopped for pictures and hand shakes before making your way through the crowd and to your waiting car.
Please come back to the Bay Area soon … we love our Indian film stars and watching you perform all of our favorite songs is great fun! Seeing you perform was a dream come true.
Your singing last night was great and the dialogues drew us in with your deep baritone voice. We hope that your cold is almost over and that you are feeling well and rested.

Hola…
Already this year I have seen the Dalai Lama AND Stevie Wonder in person…and last night - Amitabh & Jaya?! I feel soooooo blessed! When Ms. Jaya walked out I almost cried!
And ur son? That’s the Energizer bunny right there! He just keeps going…and going… lol
It was real cool to see all the acts actually. Everyone seemed rather human and quite humble, and I appreciate that some time was dedicated to informing the public about global warming…as well as the light a lantern thingy. I’m definitely into helping out.
Oh, my mama also bought the book last night. It’s crazy that you guys allowed people to view your family’s photo album, but I luv it!! I’m planning on using one of those photos to do a portrait of my favorite actor in the whole wide world (besides Marlon Brando). *wink* That back cover is A-mazing!
Neway, if I never told you before, ur my hero!! Enjoy the Bay while ur here!
FYI, u guys were in OAKLAND last night. Just wanted to clarify that. ;P

Dear Sir,
AWSOME is the feeling I have as I am writing this in your Blog.
This is my first comment / expression since I started out on the Web almost 12 years ago.
I surely have saved it for writing in the Blog of the undisputed “Badshah” of the entertainment world.
What publicly I read / watch about you portrays you as a humble, peace loving, philanthrophic & a very TALL human being!! ( pun intended! )
I am nearly 40 now & have been wanting to reach out to you since I was 8.
In your Blog Day No 90, you expressed about “Do your karma. The rest will be taken care of.
Not everyone who carries out his /her duties is bound to succeed to their final goal in life.
I doubt if any one in this world would ever have any finite GOALS …..
Anyway….Do take care of your health & Wish you & everybody along with you, All the Very Best .

Hello Mr. Bachchan,
I am probably the most latest/new addition to your blog readers. I visited your blog today for the very first time. I am a great fan of your’s since many years and look towards you as a father figure. My father is about your age, maybe a little more older than you.
I read somewhere (can’t remember if it was in a newspaper or on the internet) that the “unforgettable Tour” live shows were going empty (not many people coming to watch the shows). I never believed that article, however my belief came true when I saw the pictures you have posted today. This is absolutely amazing, mind boggling to say the least. So much crowd, so many people, as they would say in hindi “Apaar Jansamuh” !
I Idolise you in many ways, and one small ways is when I don’t feel like waking up at 5:45 AM in the morning for my work, I think of you, and I think of the efforts you put.
I hope to be a regular visitor of your blog and looking forward towards a long association with you by means of blogging. Wish you and everyone a great rest of the tour!!!

Dear Amitji
Reading your blog is like a daily ritual for me.
In the midst of my daily chores (I pondered upon the word “grind” for a sec but then thought well I should not look upon life as a grind.. thanks to your influence), I always read ur commentary.
I find it invigorating and revitalizing.
It touches the heart and I gaze upon the pics you paste minutely.. the pic of your hotel room.. the shoes lined up near the door.. simple things.. and then get awe stuck at the more glamour pics that you paste.. like the one today.. where you look a real hero.
Thanks Sir for everything.. thanks for making us feel how much we matter to you… thanks for caring about our feelings and thoughts and thanks for making this communication possible.. and last but not the least THANKS FOR MAKING US KNOW NOT SIMPLE AN AMITABH BACHCHAN but A TRULY GOOD INDIVIDUAL WHO CAN INSPIRE US TO BETTER OURSELVES..

Where is PRIETY PRIETY PRIETY, with full respect to you, i would wish if you could have put Madhuri, Priety and Ritesh Deshmukh snap too. Abhi, you have to work more hard and more hard to match your DAD….He is still 10000 times better than you. Though i must say that your pic is really looking nice, for the first time i am able to see your hands away from your body. It is a good sign. You keep your hands and legs very near to your body a sign that you are not confident..Look at Senior Bachchan earlier movies, he keeps his hands and legs away from his body while dancing and it appears that he is putting more than 100%. Similarly you can try too. Another thing is that you stop in between the songs a sign of tierdness. Keep dancing it is the audience which has come to watch you and not you have come to watch us. Sr B rocks even if he comes and stands on the stage.

I had been waiting for the San Francisco show since months, had bought tickets much early—but as destiny would dictate–did not get to watch it. A not so favorable circumstance at home, kept me from leaving my home this sunday, July 27. Felt miserable, as this was my only opportunity to see you in flesh and blood, then remembered your father’s words —
Mann ka ho to achcha
Na ho to aur achcha
— and felt better.

Dear Mr.Bacchan,
That was a fantastic show yesterday, and I was there with my hubby to watch you. You will have to believe me when I say that I took pictures of his ecstatic child like face instead of your’s when you appeared, because he has waited for 32 years for a glimpse of YOU! He had met you once in Bombay as a boy of 5 years, shook hands with you I’m told and did not wash them for a week! What do you call this - honestly, for a change I was jealous!
All said - you and the team rocked!
The cause of the solar lamps is noble and a great one! Ash spoke about the cause for taking care of Mother Nature and Global warming. I was dissappointed
It made a good speach - nice to say and hear! But, what did we do towards this even as the show progressed? Nothing.
Would have been more useful if for example we/they had stopped serving food in those styrofoam containers and all those million plastic spoons that got used right before, during and after the show. We could have together saved something for our dear Earth.
Do you agree?
Wishing someone my hubby reveres and adores as a father figure, the very best of health and success!!!

Dear Mr. Bachchan,
It is overwhelming to see you question the functioning of Karma, which is now a days lost in infinity of ignorance. A serious humanitarian crisis prevails over the world, where, unfortunately the youth has been gripped into searches for fame, fortune and vanity in the name of creativity.
Karma, as you said, has never been adequately answered. But, it is there.
I belong to an organisation called Soka Gakkai which promotes humanism, based on the profound philosophy of Buddhism, which in other words, is the philosophy of cause and effect.
So, from the viewpoint of Buddhism, the answer is rather easy.
We all are manifestations of our karma throughout eternity. The inequality of people is the result of our inequal karma, which we have done, both in our present and past lives. So, in order to bring equality, people must make good causes, so that everyone can live in unison and harmony and inequality is wiped out. Greed, anger and stupidity is what results in an ill environment.
This process will take time, but indeed, this is the surest path.
People of my age (I am 20) would question how can I so surely say that past lives exist, which is the basis of all that I said of karma. Well, we cannot even say, its not there.
So, the answer is very simply, to make a change in our environment, we need to make changes in ourselves. It all comes down to us.
Regards,
Gaurav

It was an experience of a life time for many ….an experience that would stay in our memories for a very long time…first ever show of my life that I ever went to….I would say arent all of us who were there glad that we did go. Though binoculars would have been worth taking since from where I sat it seemed like watching miniature doll sized version of you all but even seeing that gave us the realisation that you all exist in reality and are not just some arbitrary random fictional characters that are born ever time a new story, a new idea takes shape.
You Mr. Bachchan, however, need some rest. Yes, inspite of a mile long distance you seemed tired….we need to see many many more years of good indian cinema and for that to happen, you have to stay in the best of your health and all our prayers and well wishes are for you always.

Dear Amitji,
These overwhelming responses proves just one thing, you are the supreme power of bollywood and there was, is and will never be any legend like you. Do not worry about what the so called free press of India talks about you. Today’s so called free press is so free that anyone can buy and use it for there own benefit.
You are requested to keep doing things the way you do and like to do. The sold out shows are big enough proof to silent all people who cannot stand your success.

Watched your show in Oakland, loved it. To be honest, I did not get enough of you…I wish you would have sung your songs instead of the others; also instead of the calypso humming - I would have rather heard your dialogues… I was left unfullfilled…couldnt get enough of you.
Thanks much for rolling down your Car’s windows on your way out after the show, My daughter was thrilled…this is what sets you apart from other Celebs…
Best wishes for your good health forever - Ria, Prashant

I will miss seeing you — you have been my idol for over 3 decades!
I had tickets to the show in vancouver sicne the day the show opened for booking. I have been tracking it for over a year now. I was all set to come up from Seattle with my family to see you. But last week, I was travelling and could not belive the phone call from ticket master on my voice mail about the show’s cancellation. There is no information on why the show was cancelled.
Can you please ask the organizers to reschedule? Just for a day for few hours so your fans can see you?
Keeping my fingers crossed. For my superhero to come through!!!

My family and I were at the S.F. show and we enjoyed it!!!! It was great seeing you. Everyone performed well and kept us on our toes the entire night. The disappointing part was that the promoters refused to open doors at 6pm which was promised. Your fans were getting upset and finally at 6.45pm we were allowed in. We were at the front of the line and waited two hours in the cold!!!But it was worth it. Good Luck!!!!

I wrote yesterday and did submit but why it does not show I have no idea. Mail is being hijacked .I hate it.I’llwrite something .
First, one worries about your health.Like I would for my family.Do take things easy….those commitments would go for a toss if you do not look after yourself. So better safe than sorry type of situation should be avoided at all costs. You have nothing to prove to anyone …Neither your professionalism ,attitude to commitments ,punctuality, behavoiur ,manners etc,etc…..Do chill…as they say now.But do you listen to us …nooooooo. If I tell you to relax, take it easy,go on holiday ,make an easy pace of life..would you listen.Go to bed at the same time everyday and get up the same time.It is medically proven that this discipline is heathy for oue bodies ,,but by not doing so we abuse our body.No need to tire unnecesarily .But would you listen????
You have to stay heathy for us, your nameless-faceless fans. We keep praying to God all the time for you and He/She is working overtime just for you .So please take care and let God rest for a while.God is sitting and wondering about this whirlpool type of man (YOU)does not rest easy and makes me stand on my toes all the time.
One thing which I wanted to ask you and wrote in detail yesterday (and did not see it in the responses)is….What is the difference between an NRI and general Indian fans. They all gush about you but abroad they get more from you than the ones here. These aam janta loves you to distraction. They worship you ,walk with you in the middle of the night just to get a glimpse, name their children after you (and when I say you, I mean other film stars and celebrities ) .Some even make temples to worship .But they remain untouchables always.I say this coz I have seen so many film personalities behaving differently with NRI fans and the general ones.
I am always surprised that a distinction can be made like this. YES ..abroad people are more well behaved ,cultured and moneyed. They might be polished and here it is actually a crowd(remember Nasik..In recent times for you …and other wise so many other times ,which you know better.)
I am not making any personal comments on your conduct. So please do not take it otherwise .But it is just a thought which I wanted to ask you to speak on .I have seen people behaving in a different manner when here and differently when abroad ….sometimes to the same person .It is actually very funny.
Some people (film stars )can be easily met abroad and if you just invite them for dinner or organise some function, then even better but in India they are not approachable.I presonally know such people who are very respected and are actors of great repute .It would not be nice to name them .Why this discrimination ????
Do you want to throw some light on this aspect???
I hope my mail reaches you today Or I will not write again….Some body played dirty with me yesterday.BIG ADDA pull up your socks.
Take care.
Take care.

Dearest Big B, What a concert!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Loved to see you, Abhishek, Aishwarya, Jaya ji, Ritesh, Madhuri, Preity, Vishal-Shekhar and rest of the troupe at the show!!!! Each and every moment of being there was AMAZING!!!
I so wanted to be at the show, did not have ticket until the last minute, drove down 50 miles, got into a small car accident, GOT THE TICKET and ATTENDED THE SHOW!!!!! Nothing deterred your fan from being there to see you live in concert!
Love ya’ll
Sonal
PS: I know Jaya ji talked about Global warming cause and also later a video was played, making people aware of the consequences as also suggesting what all we can do. You have a great fan following and you are an icon. Thanks for addressing this cause that is so close to all our hearts. Is it also possible to do something about the recent bombings that are hitting the various metros of India? You have this great platform to address it.. can we find some creative solution to it?? You can do it!! Yes, Mr. Bachchan you can… Lets take all the politics and politicians out of it.. lets take all the man made borders out of it and address the issue as One World One Nation – If not we, who will? Please say yes, we can!

I was at the show yesterday in SF. It was just superb. We always thought Amitabh Bachchan is a superstar coz that’s what we got from our parents…saw few movies and recently saw couple of his movies like Black and Sarkar series….
Yesterday’s show was beyong words…Amitabh Bachchan was mind blowing. We all were awestruck with our mouth’s open when he spoke few dialogues from Deewar. Always thought he has the best voice but didn’t know he sings that well. He’s just a powerhouse. Loved his dances. The only thing that I guess was missing when stars were entering the Oracle Arena, it would have been a good idea to step out and waive at people…

Hello Mr. B:
I was there at your San Francisco show and my god we enjoyed it. I have to admit that I was not that much interested to go but went as I wanted my wife to experience a live ‘Desi/Bollywood’ show/concert - and she would not go without me
We loved it; it was amazing. Every act was entertaining but I have to mention we will especially remember your first act (oh those song’s of your movies from 70’s and 80’s - just amazing !!), Abhshek’s entry with the ‘Ek main aur ek tum ho….,’ Vishal-Shekhar’s energetic/smashing/rock concert worthy performance & Madhuri’s performance. My wife being a dance enthusiast and a big Madhuri Dixit fan, had tears in her eyes while watching her perform as that was her dream to watch Madhuri perform live; as much as it was our dream to watch you perform live !! We are so, so very glad that we decided to attend the show at last minute, literally !!
The only ’sort of’ disappointment for me personally was that I wish you had ’sung’ your father’s Madhushala instead of reciting Agneepath but then I know you have not been keeping well and I hope you sing it next time :-), which I hope will be in very near future and we will not have to wait for 10 years !!
Cheers to every crewmember of Unforgettable Tour party and kudos for job well done !! Keep this up as I know there are a lot of ‘Desis’ looking forward to your show especially in NYC and London.
Regards,
Sumit

There is a bomb blast, please do something about it.
Global warming is a big and scary concern, please use your power and influence and help
There are lot of people who are suffering although they helped you in your need or may be live close to your house, you should help them.
Please do something for Maharashtra or UP…
Please open some schools/colleges or hospitals to help the poor.
You continue to charge more money at the cost of poor fans who shell out that money from their hard earned savings.
And the list goes on…….
At the same time….
Yes there is a bomb blast, but what can I do. I cannot fight terrorists.
Yes Global warming is there, and I feel helpless. And you know because of so many daily problems… I bought a second car.
Why should I help or care for some unknown person. If they did do something which helped me, they must have been paid for it or it was their choice. I never asked them to do so.
I throw garbage or spit on the streets, because there is no other place. And look everybody else, so why I am being pointed at?
I do not have enough to give to poors. and very good at negotiating till the last paise with the sabziwala or dhobi downstairs. Why should I let him rip me off of my hard earned money?
During the last raise/bonus cycle I fought with my boss to ensure I am recognised although my wife also works, even though my other friend ( the sole earning hand in his house) could not get as much. It is just because I deserve and am hard working.
I am your big fan, and bought the ticket of your show, which I could not afford. I know you are sick and suffering and it concerns, me but get well soon, so that I CAN ENJOY and get my money worth.
No fan ( if there were 1 or 2, I might not have read there comments) or can say hardly any fan( who has bought the tickets) said, please take rest. Even if you do not come to the show or just come there and give a 5 min speech, it will be enough, since I care of your health more than the money which I have spent.
But you know what, we care a lot for you and pray for you always. Will do anything you say. ( in our heart we know you will not ask us to do anything). After all the prasad is offered to the god ( daily/weekly/monthly…) only because in the end we get to eat it. Wonder if God did eat the Prasad offered to him…
We find 100 reasons on why you should do something, and probably 100+ reasons on why we cannot( or should not) do it.
I just think if all the AB fans decided
Not to spit on the road. Not throw garbage out.. Not to bribe, Respect women and elders, Invest one month of our salary ( may be one week) for some needy ( not related to us)…
the world ( atleast India) could be a much cleaner and better place to live, and make AB proud whom we claim we love and respect the most.
I would not be surprised if many of the folks reading this message will put lot of energy to try defend themselves and find flaws in the above thoughts….
I only wish if that energy is invested in finding one good reason to do what we expect AB to do. That will be energy well spent.
Amitji, With best wishes and regards. You have experienced the world and its people much more than us(atleast me) and so know what to say and what is better left unsaid…..

I love you very much till today since I saw your movies during my childhood days in 1978. Right now even at athe age of 41 years and still a movie buff, you still remain icon to me in my life to take risk, challenges. At any given point of time if I am not able to take some decision I think about you and your life and get myself boost up. I just got back to New York also after seeing your Oakland show. Welcome to New York. What are you doing here?
Thanks for those great pictures. I’m in the last row of the first section on the right-too far back to really see myself . At least I got a much better view of you than in Toronto. The only time I kept looking up at the screens this time was during your dialogues to see your facial expressions close up. You look fantastic in that picture with your wonderful smile!
It seems that now you can praise the media. They finally got it right.
How are you feeling now? Enjoy your stay in New York however long it is. Maybe I will see you.

What a fantabulous show it was!!!Screamed myself hoarse…Once I reached the Oracle Arena, I could tell from the serpentine queue that this was something special…The queue was just unbelievable..It took me a good couple of hours to get in…Once in, I could see the audience trickling in with an excited look on their faces..The show started with a bang with Ritesh grooving to some of his popular numbers..He sure has good crowd presence…The next highlight was Abhishek’s entry from the crowd….He got the crowd out of their seats and I thought he did it with a lot of panache….The roar and applause from the audience was awesome!!!The build up was steadily maintained by Preity,Ash and Vishal &Shekhar….These guys were the real surprise package of the show..They were a powerhouse of energy !!!All this time, the build up for your entry was being steadily maintained and it was a good hour or so I think before they finally announced your arrival…I thought the visuals that they showed prior to your entry was brilliantly packaged to set the pulse racing in anticipation… The shock and awe in the stands was palpable…Like the lady on my left told her husband, its time for the real big daddy to get in!!!And then it happened..You came in, belting one of your golden numbers of the yesteryears and the entire arena erupted…I couldn’t see a single person seated on his seat..It was an absolute standing ovation !!!Fantastic entry….Brilliantly packaged…Hats off to the choreography…From then on, the show went to another level…And Madhuri’s entry made sure that it was truly unforgettable…She sure has a cult following here in the bay area!!!I would specially like to congratulate the presenters and the choreographers of the show…It was a great idea to play the visuals of the Don,Bombay to Goa,et al in the background while you were performing the item…It gave the impression that we were looking at the young Amitabh…I was apprehensive, how you would be able to perform some of your faster numbers of Don and Bombay to Goa and I’ve to applaud Shiamak and his entire team for coming up with such a fantastic idea…I think no singer can substitute the energy that kishore da put into his songs and it was visible yesterday….The dialogues that you delivered from Kabhie Kabhie and Deewar were heart touching and so was deep appreciation that you expressed for your fans…The Kajre item at the end,all of Madhuri’s items,Preity’s Mission Kashmir song and Abhi-Ash performing the “Pardesiya” song from Mr Natwarlal were some of the major highlights…Kudos to you, once again and lets hope the party gets better from now on..Thanks,for the snaps…As they say, a picture is worth a thousand words…
Rgds,
Nishan
