Just up and rushing to airport to catch the flight to New York and gushing with the response to last night’s show in Houston. Packed, fully sold out stadium, right to the top of the last 4th tier and the corporate boxes too and the screams and the roar of the crowds, just unimaginable. We were told Houston would be a little staid and conservative in appreciation, but last night was something else. The front rows were up on their feet dancing and shouting. What a site and what incentive for all of us to get up there and give it our all. Fans, organisers, security, production all overflowing with compliments. This is the best we have ever seen. And the promoter took the cake. “This is the biggest and the best that I have ever done, what will I do next”.
But let me compliment Houston for giving us the most electric and moving moment last night.
It happened when I was on stage. In the middle of ‘Rang Barse’, the power to the sound went. No mike, no electronics from the keyboard, nothing. A nightmare situation for any performer and any concert. In a flash realizing the situation, the percussions and the drums who need no power, kept the beat going and every one from backstage ran on to the stage - Abhishek, Ritesh, Vishal, Shekhar, the dancers everyone and just kept clapping to the beat and dancing. And then..
The audience realizing that the power had gone and that we were keeping the action going on stage, stood up.. all of them.. and joined in to the clapping and dancing. It was electric. I had goose bumps. What a crowd. What an audience ! They had realized our predicament, but keeping with the spirit just overlooked it and joined in in a great gesture of togetherness in keeping the show going. The sound and power came back pretty rapidly and we were back to normal, but that moment for me was the moment of the night ! And the audience did it !! Thank you Houston. It is these qualities that brings you so much closer to us. It was sportsmanship during show time. Rare and so endearing. You won our hearts Houston. I shall never forget this moment.

dearest mr. amitabh, HAPPY BDAY to u!!! i came frm India last week for some personal work…. my ppl here in houston told me about ur show and i HAD to watch it… and i am glad i did!!!! sir i must say U ROCK!!! the entire show was sooo engaging, the performances sooo electrifying…. everything was PURRFECT! ur performance not only thrilled but was sooo touching tht i almost cried during the dialogue frm ‘deewar’….. i was moved…. i just wished after the program tht i could get to meet u once!!!!! i wish u all the best for the rest of the shows….

I’m very happy that the Houston show was a huge success. Texas can be a conservative state on some things, but they know how to party and appreciate good talent! I’m glad Texas gave the tour some awesome southern hospitality. The rest of the shows on the tour will be a huge blast as well.

We were a part of the Houston show yesterday:))))))))))))))))) It was fun to watch you guys perform on stage:)..Especially the part where Abhishek had a thought of making an entrance through public…That was really nice!!!! It was an amazing performance by all of you…especially Mrs. Madhuri Dixit-Nene…she was absolutely amazing!!!!!!!!!
If only it was possible to meet you guys in person that would have been really wonderful..but nevertheless we had FUN!!!!

I was part of the Houston show last night - WOW what a show!! Thanks you to each of you who performed. My top 2 highlights were -
1. When the sound failed and Abhishek and gang rushed on stage just like you mentioned - as a audience member it was heartwarming and that simple act showed the essence of a “family” on tour - members that stick by you no matter what
2. When you did your dialogue from deewar that ended with you getting choked up and wiping tears. I wasn’t sure if you were able to trigger those tears on cue out of years of acting experience or if memories of your own mom came flooding back leading to a such an emotional experience for you and us?

Congratulations on the grand success of the Houston show. It was one of best shows that I have seen with such high production values and the energy of one and all stars was just mind blowing. Everybody once they left the Toyota Center was talking about the show and as a Houstonian I thank you for bringing such high calibre perfomances to our town and mesmerizing one and all. I did put in my previous posts about Gift a Lantern and I would like to gift one or may be two but don’t think if you website accepts credits cards. I have not seen the film Deewar but now want to, after seeing and hearing your dialogue and feeling as if you were actually in a temple asking for your mothers life.

Must say was disappointed on the selection of songs in the first half and the dancers wern’t that great and in synch (I can dance better(lol).. We are starving here for cultural events and the first half was a bit techno..
But the second part was fll of dynamic costumes and beautiful songs.. I loved your Deewar scripts and acting, reminded me of when I actually first watched the movie as a child..

Congrats on another fantastic show Amitabh. As I said earlier, most of us come just to see you, a performance from you is an added bonus ! so power or no power, as long as Amitabh is there, we’ve got our money’s worth.

I was in the concert you described. I am so glad and happy that Houston will remain close to your heart!!!! What a concert it was,truly UNFORGETTABLE!!!! I will never forget it. It was momorable and a dream come true for me, as I have been your greatest fan since I was in college and you had just joined the film industry. I have never missed any movie of yours. You have been my ideal man and I have always looked upon you ,not only as an actor but also as a magnificient human being !!!! Who you are is a truly great , caring and always so humble!!!! I am saying this for the entire town of HOUSTON. You simply rocked my town. This tour was really “Unforgetable”. Its been ages since we have seen you in person. I must simply say you rocked it. The way the crowd of 12000+ cheered upon your entry was mindblowing. We stood up from our chairs the entire time you were on stage. We loved all your songs of yore which I am still always humming around. Your dialouges were spell bounding. I wish i could have met you up close and personal. The way you talk, walk, dance, sing, run (i tried immiating this but without luck), your dressing and finally your presence and style are unforgetable.
Thats enough about me ( he he he ). How are you? How is your health now? I pray and hope that when i reach your age, i would have the same presence. The Finalie was on and Kajra Re was it. The rest as they say was history.
Your son Abhisheik, is truly Charismatic. He takés after his father. When he entered from the back everyone was going gaga over him.

The moment you mentioned was truly the highlight of the show… So was the segment on Reliving Amitabh as well as the regional one.
I wonder who came up with the idea of such segments.. It made this show very different from anything we have seen in the past.

Aamir Khan , Shahrukh Khan and Akshay Kumar may be currently ruling the roost both in the Indian as well as the overseas market, but there’s no denying Amitabh Bachchan ’s star power in any Bollywood-crazy city in the world.
At a recent charity auction in London, a frame with the Big B in Teen Patti was lapped up for a whopping 25,0000 pounds, outbidding other attractive offers like a night out with legendary singer Tina Turner and even a dinner with the British Prime Minister.
Says Ambika Hinduja, whose Serendipity Films is producing this film, “I am thrilled to be able to support the Silver Star Appeal, which works for such an honourable cause (it raises funds to run a Mobile Diabetes Assessment Unit).
Rubbishing reports of Bachchan delaying the film’s outdoor shoot in the US, Ambika says, “Mr. Bachchan has been more than co-operative in giving us the dates we require. The America schedule is planned for early next year based on the permissions we have secured for the required shooting locations.â€
‘Teen Patti’ will require the Big B to acquire dexterity in shuffling and dealing the cards. And the problem is that Mr. Bachchan doesn’t play cards in real life. In fact, he says he is “terrible†with cards.
But for the movie, he will have to learn the skills with cards.

I went to ur show last nite, it was nice. some comments below
- madhuri clothes choice needs a revisit.i wonder who close her clothes. i would like to think she had a say in that, but anyways, why did she wear black and silver, thats what mostly men wear, u wore, and someone else too, u know men wear that b;ack jacket with silver stars, or whatever. But her dressing sense was atrocious, and then when she wrapped that orange thing on her black and silver top just for that one minute dhak dhak song, it was horrible. Everyone around me was like, what is this? check it out, noone reponded well to that song, cos we were like, what the hell is she trying to do, and then someone even said that maybe she was made to look like that so other stars look better since mandhuri is beautiful, old, but beautiful, and i told them, nope.I read ur blog and have a feeling that u guys, the entire Bachans are a nice gang and would and resort to those things. U may not care, but just a comment.
-Wish Jayaji spoke some more and not just read out of some paper. she is someone every one of the audience admires and wants to hear more from.
- the star of the show, was ABHISHEK BACHAN, indeed, he was interaacting more, encouraging others more, being silly, being simple, down to earth, nice,i like him better now after the show, He rocked and everyone who went with me liked him the best as well.
- Ur performance was mind blowing, the dialogues it seemed as though u got into the acting mode and u were so good, amazing! that was worth my $125.
- the tickets were too expensive, but again like everyone says, no one would have paid all this kind of money for any one else in ur troupe,just ur presence attracted them all despite beigng so highly priced.

MY FIRST BACHCHAN EXPERIANCE
I was 5 when I first saw an AB movie.The year 1980.I was in a boarding school at that time.In the boarding school i had heard about 2 great indian ‘heros’ and longed to see them.One was AB and the other was Sunil Gavaskar.One day a friend showed me a wax figurine of a batsman on front foot executing which I now know a square drive and said Its Sunny Gavaskar.Since I, at that time assosiated photos on walls ,fugurines and statues with people already dead I thought Mr Gavaskar is dead only one person remained in my must see list was AB.Opportunity came when my parents took me to a indian featival in Dubai where my father was employed.The movie Amar Akbar Antony.
I had only seen a few malayalam movies till then.The heros were all fat,short and had a grand moustache.My father was short,fat and had a moustache.My uncles same.For me all male adults were short, fat and had a mouche.The movie started and let me just say I was totally unprepared and it was’nt like anything i had seen before.Lots of happenings.soon i settled and after sometime wondered why Amitabh Bachchan has not come yet or at least what I thought would /could be AB not appeared.I leaned towards my father and asked’ has Bachchan come?He said surprised ‘oh yes long time back.I’ll tell you when he apears on screen again’.And soon an egg appeared on screen and out came an emaciated ,monacled ,man in a hat.My father said thats AMitabh Bachchan.I was aghast.This is him?.and on screen he was doing very funny things,outragious things like showing his bums with a number written on it.And worse was at the end of song was beaten up by a more well nourished guy who I now know was called Sebisco.
I did’nt understand a single word of Hindi then.But by the end of the movie I was your fan .And has been all these years.I cannot say anything more about how much you are important to me even with the anonimity this net provides wthout feeling sorry for myself..let me just say of all the adults I met as a child you were the only one who was kind to me.Thank you
