Sometimes while you are pushing yourself to the limit, you suddenly
end up discovering that there is so much more you would love to do,
and you haven’t even thought about it yet. It is very beautifully
written “your goal should be your ultimate focus but do not ignore all
the little pleasures that come your way while you are on the journey
to your goal”
All the time when I wanted to become a actor, I went about learning
techniques and arts that I thought would be important for me since I
wanted to become an actor.
Adventure sports is one such lesson turned passion. Let me tell you a
little about all that I learned before I go to my experiences.
· 6 week course in Dirt Bike Riding and Maneuvering Cables in
Australia and
· 6 week course in Elementary Stunt Training with John Mayo, L.A
You know I have so often experienced this, I learn everything and then
I think okay I am prepared to do this and then when the moment comes I
literally freeze for a couple of seconds. It’s the intensity of the
moment, the realization that “okay the moment has come”.
One of those moments was my bungee Jumping scene in Kal Kissne Dekha.
It was a seven to eight seconds sequence where I had to leap from a
height of 730ft which is about 74 floors (its bloody high) from the
Auckland, Sky Tower. Yes, it was the same tower where our very own
Indian Cricketers, Sachin Tendulkar, Harbajan Singh and others were
taking a stroll on the sky walk and I am thinking, “what have I got
myself into?” the easy way out would have been to use a stunt double.
I was so scared, I admit it, it was almost depressing as two words
kept repeating in my brain which were “darpok hero”.
Then I take the leap, I finally ended up jumping, it was the most
liberating feeling I have ever experienced. It’s amazing how it feels
when you just let go off all your fears, it’s like liberation running
through your veins. But once I touch down, I was told that “The camera
did’t come on ” and had to do the whole bungee jumping two
more times. Third one was to get a perfect expression.
Things may be seem difficult and scary but there’s no use in just
wondering how dangerous it could be, what you need to do is go out and
do it. You might just end up loving it. After all what happens and how
things turn out no one really knows, Kal Kissne Dekha!

Tell yourself “I CAN DO IT” and nothing is impossible :)

A
s a child I was very shy, I always kept myself in a very secure circle. I kept to my family; my social circle throughout school never went beyond that. One of the reasons I was so private was because of my weight, I was struggling at a 130 K.Gs. I was constantly made fun of by my cousins and class mates. I had no confidence and very low self esteem.
The day I decided that I had to fight with my mind and body, it made me get up and move but it was only 1% of the success gained. It was a relentless fight to achieve the 99% of the fight. Through the process of training, I discovered that there was this entire side to me that lay hidden because of my inhibitions. As I got closer to my goal, I gained confidence; I could now do things I only dreamt of doing. My real self came out; I was no longer the shy boy I used to be but a man who had the courage to conquer his dreams.
The only thing I really give myself credit for is that I never complained I followed my goal single mindedly, and anyone out there trying to achieve anything should go at their goal with a firm head. Tell yourself, “I can” and the day you really believe it “you can”.
Never give up easily, you never know, how far success is. Like someone rightly said, “Kal Kissne Dekha”.
