Union Sports Minister MS Gill has rightly asked Chief Minister of Delhi (Hope, I have to use this spelling of capital of Bharat very few times) Sheila Dikshit that Delhi should be renamed Dilli. The original name is Dilli. All Hindi Media use this word दिल्ली. But due to Britishers, it became practise to use ‘Delhi’ and many black britishers followed this practise blindly since independence of Bharat. Now time has come to change.
Many names have been changed. Madras became Chennai, Banglore became Bangalure, Calcutta became Kolkata, then there is no valid point why Delhi should not be renamed.
Some may argue that it may cost moneywise and workwise long to rename this, but it is matter of pride. Delhi is sign of our slavery.
With this, I will humbly suggest Mr. Narendra Modi, chief minister of Gujarat to send name change request to centre from Ahmedabad to Amdavad as whole Gujarat writes and calls it, if not Karnawati. I do not understand why Ahmedabad name did not change to Karnawati during NDA Government when there was BJP at all three centres-Ahmedabad municipality, state and central level.
We take proud and be conscious to pronunce and write foreign city names, person names and language words correctly but so should be with our own city, person and language words.
I have to understand my surname’s pronunciation whenever caller/person is unaware and speaks by reading my spelling. Actually they spell Paandya (पांड्या), as was case in famous -former minister Haren Pandya murder case. Every media person was calling him पांड्या and not पंड्या. Actually it should be पंड्या. So is the case with our ideals and practises like Ram(राम), Yog (योग) and puran (पुराण)s. English speaking and writing people with very ease speak and write as Rama (रामा), Yoga (योगा) and (पुराना).
So, Delhi should be renamed Dilli, if not Indraprasth! This demand is from Dil se!
