I saw a touching movie today. “Henry Poole Is Here”
In one line, the story revolved around how a community tried to change the faith of one stubborn man and making him beleive that there was a God existing.
But, after a lot of thinking, even I have asked the question.
Man is such a vivid creature. He will not believe anything unless he sees hard evidence. He does not trust the people around him.
How then is it possible that over the years man had believed in this physically non-existent life form and trusted him with secrets and faith? How is it possible that the world still believes in an existence of the super-natural? How is God still around where a more scientific and technologically based approach has gripped the world?
This movie gives you a small answer to that question.
It isn’t purely about faith. God still exists in the hearts of everyone because even if the world turns its back on you, you know there is that someone up there who will listen to you, or at least you choose to believe that.
When a parent is betrayed by his/her own child, they know there is that someone up there who will listen to them, or at least they choose to believe that.
When a siblings lose trust in one another, they know there is that someone up there who will listen to them, or at least they choose to believe that.
When a person loses a loved one, they know there is that someone up there who will listen to them, or at least they choose to believe that.
When the deepest sorrow in the world has inflicted you, you STILL know there is that someone up there who will listen to you, or at least you choose to believe that.
It’s all in the hope. Hope for a better tomorrow from a super power somewhere up there. The person who makes everything right in the end. And we have faith in him, cause things mostly end up right anyway.
Amazing, isn’t it?
