Auckland is a beautiful city, with the necessary blend of both the city life and the pleasures of suburban living. It provides the near perfect balance of best of both worlds.

We came here in January when the summers were just setting in and while we saw people moving around in their shorts and tees we still could not shrug off our light jackets. Coming from India,  summers are when we have soaring temperatures between 25-45 degrees Celsius and not when it is between 18 and 20.

We have lived here thru summers without a fan, thru the autumn seeing the landscape changing colors from green to yellow to fiery orange to brown, thru the winters with heaters and now it is spring time, and the landscape is changing yet again. The one factor that has been common and constant to all these seasons has been, rains. Heavens above open up generously and shower the land every now n then. Guess that comes from being so close to the sea.

Coming back to Spring time, the trees are loaded with flowers of every conceivable color. The bushes are loaded too n flaunt the colors as well as the scents that emanate from them. It is truly mesmerizing and appeals to that aesthetic sense that each one of us have somewhere deep down inside.

Truly, Spring is the best season, and I suppose it is little wonder then that youth of ones life is compared to spring. But I guess comparing the best phases of our lives to spring would be  more appropriate cause spring returns every time with more vigor and vitality after having braved autumn n winters. Like all of us do too! We emerge much stronger after a particularly  low phase of life, ready to take on life yet again, “by the horns”, as they say.
